When I say “complete”, I mean that I’ve built the body, but it’s not assembled, as I want to clean up what I’ve already painted, as well as paint what I recently built (the arms and head) before I assemble the body and move on to the weapons.

I had to paint the chin and under the eyes gold before I built the head. I did that with a toothpick. Didn’t go so bad. The head is, however, still missing its “ears” and the green lenses. I’m not putting those on til the head is painted. Same goes for the ones in the arms (smallest ones there). Finally, I’m gonna get the paint off of the lenses for the legs and chest. I won’t put them back in until I finish painted the respective parts. As you can probably guess, I’m not gonna finish this by tomorrow. Cause I was rushing for no reason. Got to remind myself to not do that again. Next time you see Lancelot EX, it’ll look MUCH better.

As K-ON!’s girls would say, Don’t Say “Lazy”. But it describes me. It describes anyone when you’re in school. Good thing my semester is over then^^

That said, I’ve gotten busy on the Exia. the left leg is built and painted. The right arm is built. I just have to finish the left arm, the head, and the weapons, then paint em all, and (finally) get some batteries for the GN Drive (which I intended to save for last anyway).I also have to finish this by Friday as promised. That promises to go well…

I’d have had this up sooner, but then came a major snowstorm. My connection has been shot since, but without the storm keeping me offline, I wouldn’t have gotten far on Exia. However, there was also a brainstorm. I tried to fend it off, but I ultimately could not. I may have gotten a tad bit carried away with this one (just like Lloyd Asplund, no less ^^;). You decide…

The end of the year, end of the decade, time to compile a list of highs and lows. In past years, I haven’t cared, haven’t really bothered: I’ve read the lists, enjoyed them, agreed and disagreed verbally to printed matter. I don’t know why, this time around, I am so not interested.

I was asked to contribute to a handful of lists this year, picking my top artists, bands, albums, shows, etc. And I had to decline. When the requests came in, I considered them, and realised that the past year has been, well, totally beige. Especially in Canada. With the exception of Metric’s Fansaties and a handful of great songs/ideas from others, what could I remember? What was timeless? I didn’t know. I couldn’t think of anything. Was that my fault? Maybe I was lazy this year. Did I not keep up? No: I’ve been worn down by repetition, the references to the references, the derivativity, the lack of soul, a saturated milieu, churning out music devoid of spirit and purpose.

For example, could someone please explain this to me? It 100% boggles my mind.

Times have changed, I suppose. I’ve changed. I’ve changed quite a bit, and philosophically look at music and the music industry in a hyper-evolved way. In four dimensions. And once you achieve that fourth dimension, everything changes. Perspective is paramount, and there’s no going back to the way things were before.

Or the Battlestar Galactica marathon I’m on has clouded my memory.

This was just extraordinary to me, one man actually spent the time to build his son a guitar hero game, but here’s the twist, it was on the side of their house!

Getting on with it

I tried, I really did. After a fucked up life that really can’t compare to anyone else’s, I even went as straight as I could, got the 40 a week job, was responsible, and fell in love and all that. It just doesn’t work for me. Never, to be 100% accurate, ever really did. Scarred childhood, scared adolescence, it comes down to this, to quote Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible: the status is NOT quo. I broke, and couldn’t keep going, couldn’t keep pretending that I fit this weirdly twisted world. Call it ego, but I feel the movement of something actually great inside me, and I grow daily more certain my choices are between giving this thing free rein, and laying down and dying.

So, here I am, at 11:31 pm on December 8, 2009, sitting at my keys and for the first time in a very long time, actually writing. My headset is blaring the Tea Party in my ears (for now) and I am letting the words come out.

Here’s the plan: write. Lots. Every damned day. Let things go where they will, but stop trying to force myself into a “normal” pattern: I have always been most creative at night: so let the words flow like a dark river when they will. Just don’t ever dam the flow again. All will be well again, as Julian of Norwich said. I owe a debt of thanks for those words, for Hope.

Feita em prata com o plano piloto de Brasília de um lado e no outro Congresso Nacional, Catedral de Brasília, Palácio do Planalto e a escultura Guerreiros (representando a Praça dos 3 Poderes).

Tal moeda, no entanto, não entrará em circulação e será uma série especial para colecionadores e somente 30 mil serão cunhadas.

Apesar do valor oficial ser de apenas R$5,00, cada uma será vendida por R$110,oo.

Façamos as contas então: 30.000 (moedas) x R$110,00 = R$3.300.000,oo

TunePro.com, une plate-forme de vente en ligne au logo très horrible, a choisi de vendre sa musique à perte afin de se mettre sur la map! Sur le site de TunePro, on peut télécharger l’album complet d’artistes reconnus tels que Sarah McLachlan, pour aussi peu que $ 1,71 (USD). La compagnie a choisi de vendre de la musique à perte afin d’attirer un maximum de consommateurs et de les fidéliser. Voilà la motivation des dirigeants de TunePro  : «Nous pensons que cette stratégie attirera plus l’attention sur TunePro, qu’en déboursant des sommes ridiculement élevées en publicité». TunePro a choisi de dépenser son budget de promotion de cette manière. Après écoulement du budget, dans 2 ou 3 mois, les prix seront de retour à la normale.

La solution de TunePro est bien éphémère! À terme, leur plan fonctionne. Évidemment, puisque vous ne seriez pas là à lire mes lignes. Le bouche à oreille est enclenché. Les médias raffolent de ces stratégies loufoques. Ça fonctionne pour eux, évidemment… mais à très court terme! Parions que cette «idée de génie» en amènera d’autres à faire de même, non? On peut déjà s’imaginer qu’au moment où TunePro remontera ses prix vers la normale, une autre plate-forme de vente en ligne adoptera la même stratégie. Cela forcera inévitablement TunePro à réagir. Telle est la manière que l’on emboîte le pas dans le «Bal de la perte».

Voilà pourquoi la musique finira par être gratuite. Parce qu’il n’y a pas plus bas comme prix que 0,00$. Et si 0,00$ est un prix stratégique et temporaire pour une boutique qui cherche l’attention, personne n’est à l’abri du fait que ce prix devienne la norme. Depuis les CD à 23 $ en magasin, iTune a créé la norme du 99 cents la chanson. Tous peuvent créer une nouvelle norme, en autant que le prix soit toujours plus bas.

La  stratégie de TunePro est intéressante pour quelqu’un qui cherche à vendre autre chose que du mp3. Si TunePro avait autre chose à vendre, nul doute que le fait de dévaluer temporairement (ou en permanence) sa musique pour la transformer en produit d’appel (loss leader) aurait un effet sur les ventes de ses produits dérivés. Mais tel n’est pas le cas. TunePro n’a rien d’autre à vendre.

Ce genre de stratégie fonctionne pour les bands et les artistes qui cherchent l’attention des Internautes. S’il en coûte 80 000 $ en dépense promotionnelle pour atteindre le coeur de 40 000 fans, sachez qu’il n’en coûte pour un artiste que 720 $ en bande passante (coût du transfert d’information sur Internet) afin de permettre à 40 000 personnes de prendre gratuitement son album, via Internet. Seulement 720 $ pour récolter 40 000 courriels et ne plus jamais à avoir à dépenser quoique ce soit pour communiquer directement avec eux et leur vendre autre chose. Apple l’avait bien compris : Apple a des Macs, des iPhones et des iPods à vendre; la création du iTune Music Store était nécessaire pour offrir du contenu ordonnés à mettre dans ses dispendieux baladeurs; le mp3 à 0,99 $ n’était planifié que pour hameçonner les consommateurs de musique afin de leur vendre autre chose. Résultat : tant mieux si le iTune Music Store est profitable. Le fruit de cette boutique de vente en ligne ne représente pour Apple qu’un léger surplus dans ses prévisions globales, sans plus.

Je plains TunePro. Ça m’attriste en fait. Parce que je sais qu’ils ne feront jamais d’argent à vendre leur mp3 à 0,00 $ ou à devoir éventuellement compétitionner contre la toute nouvelle boutique de vente de mp3 créée par de jeunes «wizkids» ambitieux. Parce que pour un revendeur, une commission de 15% sur rien du tout, c’est encore rien du tout.

I was bored sometime ago during the weekand so I decited to have some fun with my SD models by mixing up their limbs and weapons and whatnot to make a new hybrid model. I started out with my SD Exia and SD 00 Gundam, which turned out quite nicely. The 00 turned out to be a bit too complicated, having most of the weapons, but I love how Exia turned out. It just looks so cute and simple. 00 looks a bit more menacing. Doesn’t Exia just look so cute you wanna hug him? (Although I suggest you not, Exia is known for its “sharp points”) Anyways, I’ve long since re-painted these two models with Gundam Marker and Testing Paint, so they look much better instead of the Sharpie and White Out you see in the pictures. Check out my Exia Re-Review on my YouTube channel if you wanna see more. A re-review of the 00 will be coming soon with the re-painted colors, but not until later. Enjoy this little gallery while 00 and Exia get part-swapped. xD

I’ve started building the legs for the Exia. So far, one leg is built and partially painted.Of, course… this is the unpainted leg. I’ll update with a pic of the partially painted leg another time.

I love how well they recreated dock for the GN Blades in the hips. Very well engineered there. Better than the NG Exia’s setup for sure.

I also looked at the torso one night, and I realized something was off. Its not supposed to be all white. If you refer to WIP 00, I stated that the red parts of the Exia would be painted in Tamiya Park Green. This includes the oblique/side armor. Thus…

I gave a second coat after taking this picture, so the green looks a little cleaner than it does here. Let me know if you prefer it with or without green.

And now: an update on my state of affairs: My fall semester ends in three weeks. And I’m gonna be extremely busy in between that time. Most importantly, I’ll be trying to get myself into a four year college so I can go for my bachelor’s. Though I’ll (hopefully) be getting my Associate’s next month, I don’t want to, nor will I stop there. I just can’t. Not how things are today. That said, do not be surprised if I disappear for another month after this. Wish me luck!
