Last time I have promised to put my works in this blog, on the last project in my Design 102 module of the whole semester, called as Project ‘…for the…’. It is a project which we design a dwelling for our specific client in Malacca.

My chosen client through a lucky draw, at first is Christie Brinkley, a famous model. However, I am given a second chance of lucky pick since there is not much thing can be done on model. Hence, my second and final pick is Amadeus Mozart, a famous musician.

Part 1: Client and Function.

I need to get to know deeply onto the personalities and characteristics of Mozart. What is special about him? What is interesting about him? Mozart is addicted to music when he was only 3 years old, and he was able to write music when he was aged 5 only. He completed his works very fast, but stress was his main problem. His most famous work is ‘Requiem’, which is incomplete, as he felt into severe illness and died before even he could finish it. I am trying to design a place for him to complete the music and perform it.

Part 2: Site Analysis.

We had conducted a site visit at Malacca Old Town area. I have chosen a water edge area, a very spacious empty area in the region of new development. Many modern buildings are built and being under construction there, and my dwelling will be notified as part of it, proudly. The calm atmosphere from the peaceful surrounding, flowing water, and windy breeze will surely be effective in reducing stress by Mozart while writing his marvelous piece of work. My site faces the Maritime Museum, a museum built in a form of Portuguese ship and Taming Sari Tower, an observation tower basically for tourism.

My chosen site sits right beside a newly-built park, in a geometrical pattern. My dwelling will be an extension of the park, benefiting the existing pedestrian walkways, which will direct visitors from the tourist center nearby, to the square, next to the park, and finally, to my dwelling. It will be able to attract visitors in such a strategic location of tourist hotspot.

Part 3: Design.

The name of my dwelling will be very grand, ‘Performing Center of Amadeus Mozart’. Malacca has many museums, many cafes, many tourist spots, but don’t have a proper performing center. There are many spaces in my dwelling, making it as multi-purpose, such as lobby area to welcome visitors, gallery to display his masterpieces, outdoor platform for audiences to enjoy the surrounding, private working space for Mozart to write his music, and staff area for performers to prepare for performances. The main space will be the performing hall, with a stage and concrete terraces as seating area.

Two concepts are chosen based on Mozart’s personalities.

1. Emphasis on external appearance

My dwelling will have a grand and modern outlook appearance, and is easily visible from afar, especially from the Taming Sari Tower and Maritime Museum. It is located on the spacious empty land in the middle of the reclaimed land (Malacca River Square) on Malacca River. The large scale of the project making it more distinctive. The interior is very plain, with no decorations or ornamentations. The seating area of performing hall is just of concrete terraces, and all the floor, wall, and roof have no finishes. Even the stage is simple, with a background of glass screen.

Mozart emphasized on his outer appearance. He loved to wear elegant clothing. However, he was very poor and has financial difficulties. Hence, this concept suits him the most, and shows that this place is dedicated for him, while not letting the others know (also not letting the others know that he was actually poor).

2. No distinction between exterior and interior.

As I have mentioned just now, there is so much difference between exterior and interior look of the building. Now, there is another concept of linking them back, harmoniously, by using one material: glass. Mozart should not be enclosed by solid walls when he was writing his music, as this will lead to stress easily. Hence, his private working space is built mainly of glass, four walls of glass to separate him from the outside weather, while combining the area with the surrounding. He will be enjoying the time of writing his music with the surrounding at a high level. Imagine, how comfortable he will be…

Usual backdrop of current performing center is a plain black wallpaper. For my performing center, it will be different. The backdrop will be the lively background showing the Maritime Museum and Taming Sari Tower with the surrounding. By this way, audiences will feel different kind of atmosphere at different time of performances. It will not attracts the eyes of the audiences during performances but will affect the mood of the audiences. They have entered a boring, dull and plain hall, hence, their focus will be just on the music, while the backdrop plays a role to regain their feeling of being carried away by the music performed by Mozart. The glass backdrop will also provides natural lighting during daytime of performances. The side facade of the gallery is also built of glass, but of two different glass. There are no nice views visible from that side, hence translucent glass will be used, so that the visitors will only enjoy the music sheets displayed. The upper facade will be of transparent movable glass, which allows sunlight to enter for natural lighting, and for air ventilation, supporting the idea of a green building, in a clean, unpolluted and historical city of Malacca. The facade which faces the park will be of solid wall and glass wall. Solid wall separates the performing hall from the outside, so that the activities occuring in the park and square will not disturb the performances. However, the visible lobby from outside will be able to attract visitors to enter.

The entrance to the private working space is small, and short, specially dedicated to Amadeus Mozart. He was s short and small person. However, as soon as he enters the area, the large volume of the space will provides greater freedom and movement for him, thus, giving him more space and less pressure to complete his music. He can went out to the nearby park to enjoy the scenery too.

I have explained almost all of the things related to my design.

Part 4: Interior space.

I have chosen a portion of the performing hall, to be investigated on its finishes, lighting, and construction details. The foundation will be simple, since there is already an existing concrete surface on the ground and the site sits on a reclaimed land (reinforced and stabilized). The portion is on the side showing part of the seating area, stage, and entrance to the outdoor platform, accompanied by the glass backdrop. Among the most interesting feature of my design is the glass backdrop. There is no finishes on it, as i have explained earlier. The lighting during the day is provided with aid of the glass screen. The materials used to built is mainly of concrete and glass.

This is overall of the project, which ended by a verbal presentation during review by external panels, and the whole semester successfully ended with submission of box containing all the works and portfolio…

Today is finally the design review of our last project in Design 102, project ‘…for the…’ External panels (those professors from UITM and PAM) were invited to crit and comment on our works. All of the invited panels are Malays, and our presentation will be one to two panels (with one lecturer on side).

Kinda nervous, because it is the first time I am presenting my architecture work to external panels. Last time have done this kind of presentation before, but there is nothing much to learn from that time which is Foundation year. This time, really learn a lot from the panels too, eventhough I might be disagree with some of the opinions by them, since everyone will have different thoughts.

I am among the earliest one to present, trying to present it without showing any sign of nervous…able to do that successfully, but the panels said that my design is not that successfully, but with effort, because my project is done in large-scale, having to care on so many spaces in my design. Anyway, I’m satisfied with my performance today, and my design basically gets the approval from my lecturers. Everyone have different thoughts…this is what I can say, again!

There is one thing that I don’t agree much with the panels, that my design is not appropriate in terms of materials (glass) and proportion (those golden mean). Huh, they expect me to study on ancient Greek work of Golden Mean and Proportion so much. I actually think that glass is appropriately used in my design. Again, every person have different ideas! They have to accept my ideas, since this is my design…

Exhausted day, need to bring whole box of models and development sketches and the giant presentation board to classroom in early morning, and bring it back to my car, so far from the campus. Ahh, still got the Archicad assignment to be completed.

Finally, today is the final submission of Design 102 final project, Project “…for the…”. This is a project which student is given a specific client, do research on client, do site analysis, design a dwelling for the client, build models (site model, design model and interior model), create an overall presentation board.

It is a very hectic journey, a challenging journey to pass this significant module. Just able to finish it on time, with all models and board. Today just print my board at smaller version (not actual size which is five A1 combined together), to lecturers to comment and change (sure there will be changes on the layout).

Arrghh..reach classroom around 3pm, still not many people in there. Almost all can’t finish all the works especially interior models. The lecturers said that today is not final submission. Haiz…I didn’t have my breakfast and lunch just to finish my board, and they say it is not final submission. Have to bring everything again, this Friday for the ‘real’ final submission.

Today, I have seen a lot of nice, beautifully-built sectional models…some are fantastic, I wonder how they build it. I knew the efforts they spend on models until having no time to do board…

Finally, the project is almost coming to an end, and semester is almost coming to an end…I need semester break, which is three-months long..hurray…after that, Year 2 begins, more tougher and burdening life ahead…architecture students’ life is like this…

Sau greva la metrou…

Ca sa ajung in timp util la liceu, cu metroul, trebuie sa ma trezesc in jur de ora 6. Astazi, cand metroul nu era o optiune, s-a nimerit sa nu ma dau jos din pat pana la 7 fara un sfert.  M-am spalat, mi-am pus lentilele, m-am imbracat in timp record si am plecat de acasa pe la 7. Ziua nu incepuse promitator, dar era nimic fata de ceea ce avea sa urmeze.

Ajuns in capatul strazii, vad autobuzul 102, supranumit, pe merit, masina timpului. Eram cam la 30 de metri de statie asa ca a fost nevoie sa alerg. Din motive care imi scapa, soferul s-a decis sa inchida usa din fata mai devreme decat celelalte doua, asa ca am prins autobuzul mai intai cu o mana si jumatate de cap. Din fericire, usa s-a deschis si am reusit sa patrund in intregime, in misticul mijloc de transport.

Dupa chinuri groaznice prin taramul faradelegii, adica Salajan, am ajuns la statia unde trebuia sa astept troleibuzul 79. Si am asteptat, nene… In fine, dupa vreo 15 minute, cand in statie erau mai multi oameni decat pe Ghencea la meciurile nationalei, soseste neaos si un 79. Bineinteles ca era o vechitura verde si nu unul dintre cele noi, albe.

A fost aglomerat de la inceput, insa atunci cand am ajuns la Baba Novac, neplacerile au luat proportii. Pozitia mea e destul de complicat de explicat : eram lipit de o bara, fiind nevoit sa ma tin de ea, cu mainile la nivelul gatului, cu genunchiul stang, tactic plasat pentru echilibru, intre doua scaune.

Vehiculul isi depasise cred capacitatea de vreo 2 ori, astfel incat toata lumea devenise extrem de intima cu mine. In dreapta mea, era o stimabila doamna la varsta a treia / baba care s-a gandit ca ar fi dragut sa se tina de bara, ducandu-si mana undeva la 10 centimetri de fata mea, emanand un miros fresh si reconfortant de chiftele si naftalina si care nu a incetat sa tuseasca timp de 30 de minute. In fata mea, pe scaun, se afla o domnisoara draguta, pe care, fara voia mea, am pedepsit-o pe tot parcursul drumului. Atunci cand cineva cobora sau urca eram impins de asa natura ca penisul meu (supranumit dragonul ) ajungea extrem de aproape de capul ei. De altfel, in incercarea disperata de a deschide un geam, i-am aplicat un cot in cap cu destul de multa convingere. Pe parcursul calatoriei, s-a creat un fel de legatura intre noi si asa am ajuns eu, de la “ma scuzati, va rog” la “iarta-ma”. Ultimul personaj, dar cu siguranta nu cel din urma, este ea, magnifica tanara care m-a calarit nu o statie, nu doua, ci timp de 70 de minute. Si nu faptul ca s-a sprijinit pe mine tot drumul e problema, nu. Undeva pe la inceputul calatoriei, s-a hotarat sa asculte muzica si din pacate pentru mine nu a scos niste casti discrete in-ear / dopuri, ci niste chestii mari si odioase ce au indeplinit rolul de instrumente de tortura pentru mine. In esenta nu ma deranja ca asculta muzica, doar ca ea, nu avea preferinte ca un om obisnuit,nu. A inceput cu o melodie rock, ceva cu “Dieee (engl. mori)”, asa ca m-am resemnat rapid, crezand ca asta va fi tot, dar nu a fost sa fie. A 2a piesa a fost 50 Cent – In da club si a 3a, ceva cu Tupac si 4a, Elvis.Pana la Foisorul de Foc (unde un tramvai se defectase, blocand intersectia), ascultasem cam tot ceea ce exista in materie de muzica pe Terra : Green Day, raggae, Eminem, Paul van Dyk, iar rock si multi, multi altii. De la stres, caldura si mixtapeul pe care nu as fi vrut sa-l aud in viata mea, simteam cum celulele mele nervoase se sting una cate una.

Altceva nou pentru mine, a fost sa vad toti coclaurii de pe traseul lui 79. De regula, masinile circula pe marile artere sau bulevarde, dar cred ca asta e ceva mai special. Eram mereu pe strazi inguste si arate de gropi, avand tot timpul senzatia ca soferul merge acasa si ca statiile sunt la oameni in curte.

Ajuns in sfarsit la liceu, la a 2a ora de curs, dupa un drum de 40 de minute care a durat 2 ore, aflu ca nu s-a tinut prima ora si ca pana la sfarsitul zilei nu aveau sa fie profesori decat la 3 din 6 cursuri, din motive care,sincer, nu ma intereseaza catusi de putin.

Debusolat fizic si psihic, dupa o zi in care cea mai inteligenta activitate a mea a fost sa urmaresc un joc de Lapte Gros, astept cuminte troleul fermecat. Vine destul de repede, dar din pacate, aproape la fel de aglomerat ca cel de dimineata. Aflat inauntru, mare mi-a fost surprinderea sa vad ca troleibuzul este cel cu care am venit si credeti-ma ca nu ma insel. Am avut destul timp sa studiez toate abtibildurile si posterele din el.

Pleaca in tromba, ca orice sofer care se respecta si eu ma agat din reflex, ca sa nu cad, de tetiera unui scaun. Din pacate, cauciucul nu mai exista si nu era decat un burete negru si lipicios, atat de convingator, incat nici apa calda si sapunul nu mi-au scos jegul de pe mana.

Apoi la o statie de parcul IOR, zona unde ma simt, relativ, ca acasa, cand credeam ca nimic nu se mai poate intampla, izbucneste un scandal la jumatate de metru de mine. Cand cineva a cerut cateva indicatii, doua babe au inceput sa se certe, pentru a stabili care e drumul cel mai scurt. Au ajuns de la “nu e bine asa doamna”, la “ce te bagi in seama?”, la “taci, fa!”, totul incheindu-se apoteotic cu sotul uneia dintre ele, introducandu-si degetul mijlociu in gura, ca un clovn schizofrenic, pentru a-i ura de bine celeilalte.

Cobor si iau 102ul, dar e foarte aglomerat, asa ca ma dau jos la Salajan si merg ultima statie pana acasa, pe jos.

In primul rand, multumesc RATB pentru clipele de vis oferite. In al doilea rand, vreau sa multumesc “liderilor” nostri, ai caror morti, i-am pomenit de fiecare data cand le vedeam din troleibuz fetele pe afisele electorale, gandindu-ma la cum e sa stai pe bancheta din spate a unui Mercedes S-Klasse, dotat bineinteles cu girofar. Imi multumesc mie ca nu am pornit genocid si ca am avut rabdare se spun intreaga poveste si nu in ultimul rand, ii multumesc celei care mi-a demonstrat ca nu am pic de cultura muzicala .

In alta ordine de idei, va implor, spuneti-mi ca maine, circula metroul!

Even if you’ve worked with the Bus Pirate for a while, you might learn some new tricks in this detailed use tutorial written by the primary developer.

The Bus Pirate always starts in high impedance mode (HiZ), a safe mode with all outputs disabled. It’s intended to protect any connected devices from conditions beyond their specifications. We’ll be using a 24AA I2C EEPROM (data storage chip) on the 3EEPROM explorer board to demonstrate some features. You don’t need the chip to follow along, you won’t damage anything by following the tutorial without a chip.

Press ‘M’ to configure a bus mode. Choose the I2C bus, configure it for software mode, high speed.

Power supplies

The on-board power supplies can be activated outside of HiZ mode.

Capital ‘W’ activates the on-board supplies, small ‘w’ turns them off. Turn the power supplies on, then press v to show a power supply voltage report.

Note that W is syntax and not a menu option, it can be used with other syntax to toggle the power in the middle of complex bus operations.

Pull-up resistors

Some bus types, such as I2C, require a resistor to create a ‘1′ on the bus. This is called an open collector or open drain bus. Without a pull-up resistor, the bus will only read ‘0′. Some bus modes are open collector only (1-Wire, I2C), most have an open collector option.

Connect the Vpu pin of the IO header to a voltage. The on-board pull-up resistors apply the voltage connected to the Vpu pin to the bus pins through 10Kohm resistors. Press v and verify that the Vpullup voltage shows the desired value.

Macros

Macros are preprogrammed shortcuts. Some of the macros available include: smart card interrogation, I2C address scanners, JTAG chain probes, transparent UART bridges, LCD initialization, and bus sniffers.

Type (0) to get a list of macros in any mode. The macro number can be entered in any format, (0×00) and (0b0) are also valid macro entries.

I2C devices respond to a 7bit address. We could look up the address in the datasheet, but instead we’ll use the address scanner macro (1). The Bus Pirate scaned all possible addresses and found the chip at 0×50 (0xa0/0xa1).

If you don’t have an I2C chip attached for this tutorial, the Bus Pirate won’t find any I2C devices. If it finds devices at every address, make sure there’s powered pull-up resistors on the I2C bus pins.

Number entry and formats

Numbers can be entered as binary, decimal, or hexadecimal values, mix and match, use whatever best suits the datasheet or task.

Most syntax can be repeated by appending ‘:’ and a repeat value, the repeat value can be in any number format.

r is the generic command to read a single byte in all bus modes, it can also be repeated with the ‘:’ command (r:3). The Bus Pirate output is HEX formatted by default, but you can change it to binary or decimal from the output mode menu ‘o’.

When you’re done, press ‘m’. The Bus Pirate immediately turns off all outputs, power supplies, and pull-up resistors, and prompts for a new mode. Choose 1 (or just press enter for the default option) to return to HiZ mode.

Taking it further

In Bus Pirate 101 we looked at the Bus Pirate hardware, installed the driver, and configured the serial terminal. In Bus Pirate 102 we entered a bus mode and demonstrated some basic commands.

Now you’re ready to interface some devices. The 3EEPROM explorer board might be a good place to start, it has three common EEPROM chips with three popular buses (1-Wire, I2C and SPI).

If you program on a PC, you could automate your work with a script for the Bus Pirate binary interface mode. There’s a bunch of examples to get you started.

The study done on this article was to prove natural remedies more or less work as a placebo effect.

All that it proved to me was:

1. Mind over matter does work!
2. You have the power to heal yourself!
3. Pharmaceuticals don’t work due to the damage caused without ever “curing” a patient!

Pe 16 noiembrie se implinesc 30 de ani de la prima calatorie cu metroul bucurestean si motivele pentru care este atat de folosit in zilele noastre sunt foarte usor de evidentiat.

In primul rand starea vremii nu modifica frecventa cu care sosesc trenurile. Vara e racoare si iarna e cu siguranta mult mai placut sa astepti metroul decat sa te ninga in statia de autobuz.

Accidente care sa blocheze traficul nu exista decat atunci cand cineva considera ca viata te omoara si fara sa generalizez, oamenii par mai putin periculosi spre deosebire de cei din 102, unde simt intotdeauna nevoia:

a) sa-mi incordez anusul si

b) sa-mi verific buzunarele, fiind mereu pregatit sa fiu abuzat fizic sau furat.

Am descoperit si un mic bonus la metrou: inclusa in tariful de calatorie este si o mica analiza a pulsului societatii. Poti afla, cu sau fara voia ta, ultimele stiri, cine castiga alegerile prezidentiale, despre ce a vorbit Badea in emisiune, ce film merita vazut, cum a jucat Urziceniul si uneori ofurile fiecarui calator in parte.

Another day ends in nearly the same Atlanta hotel room I was in 2 weeks ago. Same format, same soap, same shampoo.

This module, Building Technology 102 is all about details, construction systems, foundation, floor, wall and roof systems. As mentioned in previous post, there is only one major assignment in this module, and it’s enough to kill architecture students. Poor us!

We have to select a specific domestic-scale project from a list of famous projects around the world by famous architects like Tadao Ando, Richard Meier, Herzog and de Meuron, Renzo Piano, etc. This assignment is to be done in group, of two students. After chosen a project, we have to find working drawings of the project and understand on the design and construction systems of it.

Then the hardest task is coming, building the model, a secti0n-cut model (not sectional), a clean-cut, in scale 1 to 20. We have to build it in progress, from preliminary model, to prototype model, and finally, of course FINAL MODEL. The final model is submitted today. This model took me and my friend six days to complete (without counting the nights).

In His Name And With The Remembrance of His Last Hujjat (a.t.f.s.)

The Almighty Allah gave glad tidings of the birth of Ismail (a.s.) and He says:
“So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance.”

Surah Saffat 37:101

The Almighty Allah has also prophesied the birth and advent of Qaim (a.s.).  And in the same way the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and the Infallible Imams (a.s.) have also given glad tidings about them. That which additionally proves this matter is that which is mentioned in the books Tabsiratul Wali and Biharul Anwar from Ismail bin Ali Naubakhti (r.a.) that he said:

When Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) was in his fatal illness I was present with him. He summoned his servant, Aqeed, who was a Nubian black. Prior to this he was in the employ of Imam Ali Naqi (a.s.). It was he that had brought up Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) told him: “O Aqeed, boil for me some mastic water.” Aqeed obeyed and after the water was procured, Saiqal, the mother of Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.) brought it to His Eminence. His Eminence took hold of the vessel but his hands shook so much that the bowl clattered against his teeth. The Imam let go of the vessel and said to Aqeed: “Go inside the house where you will find a boy in prostration. Bring him to me.”

Abu Sahl says: Aqeed said: When I went inside to bring that boy I saw that the boy was in a prostration and he had raised his index finger to the sky. I saluted him. He shortened his Prayer. I said respectfully: “The master has called you.” At that moment his mother arrived and taking his hand brought him to his father. Abu Sahl says: When the boy came to His Eminence he saluted him. I saw that his face was glowing like a pearl, he had short hair and wide teeth. When the eyes of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) fell upon him he wept and said: “O master of my family, give me this water so that I may proceed to my Lord.”

The young master complied and taking up the bowl of mastic water brought it to the lips of his father so that he may drink it. Then Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) said: “Prepare me for the ritual prayer.” That child kept a towel before the Imam and made ablution for him by washing his face and hands in turn. Then he did Masah of his head and both feet. The Imam said: “O my son, I give you glad tidings that you are the Master of the Time and the Proof of Allah on the face of the earth. You are my son and successor. You are born from me and you are M-H-M-D the son of Hasan son of Ali son of Muhammad son of Ali son of Moosa son of Ja’far son of Muhammad son of Ali son of Husain son of Ali Ibne Abi Talib (a.s.) and you are from the progeny of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and the last of the Purified Imams (a.s.).
And the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) gave glad tidings about you and informed about your name and agnomen. This was told me by my father from his purified forefathers – blessings of Allah be on Ahle Bayt. Indeed our Lord alone is worthy of praise and glorification.”
Imam Hasan bin Ali Askari (a.s.) spoke these sentences and passed away at that very moment.

(Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.) passed away due to the effect of poison on the 8th of Rabi I, year 260 A.H. and at that time his age was barely 28 years, may Allah bless him.)

Ismail (a.s.) – the spring of Zam Zam burst forth for him. For Qaim (a.s.) also a spring of water would burst forth from
a hard stone – as would be explained in the discussion of resemblance to Prophet Moosa (a.s.) – and water also had sprung many times for that respected personality, as mentioned in Biharul Anwar quoting from the book of
Tanbiyatul Khaatir that Sayyid Ajal Ali son of Ibrahim Areezi Alawi Husaini reports from Ali son of Ali son of Numa that he said:

Hasan bin Ali bin Hamza Aqsasi related this incident in the house of Shareef Ali bin Ja’far bin Ali Madaini Alawi that there was a short-stature Shaykh in Kufa who was well known for his piety, he liked sight-seeing, was an ardent worshipper and preferred seclusion. And he was always in pursuit of historical information and traditional reports.
One day it so happened that I was in the gathering of my father when this gentleman arrived and began to converse with my father and the latter was listening to him intently.

The senior gentleman said: One night I was in Masjid Jofa, which is an ancient Masjid on the outskirts of Kufa. Half the
night had passed and I was engrossed in secluded prayers when suddenly three persons entered the Masjid. When they reached the center of the courtyard, one of them squatted and began to move the soil to the right and the left. A spring of water appeared and water gushed out of it. He performed the ritual ablution with this water and gestured to the other two persons and they also performed the ablution.

Then he stood in the front and the other two stood behind him to pray. I also went and stood at the back and recited the prayers with them. Since I was astonished at the erupting of the spring, when the prayer was concluded I asked the man to my right: Who is that gentleman? He told me: He is the Saheb-al-Amr, son of Imam Hasan Askari (a.s.). So I went forward and kissed the blessed hands of His Eminence and asked very respectfully: O son of Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.), what is your opinion about Shareef Umar, son of Hamza? Is he on the right religion? He replied: No, but it is possible he may come to the right path.

However it is sure that he would not die without seeing me. The narrator says: We wrote down this interesting tradition, and some time passed after this incident till Shareef Umar bin Hamza expired and it was not heard that he had seen Imam-e-Zamana (a.s.). One day I met that old gentleman at a place and reminded him about that incident and asked: Did you not say that Shareef would see Imam-e-Zamana (a.s.) before his death?
The aged gentleman replied: How do you know that he did not meet His Eminence? After that, one day I met Shareef Abul Manaqib son of Shareef Umar son of Hamza and discussed about his father with him. Shareef Abul Manaqib said: One night I was with my father when he was in his terminal illness. It was the last part of the night. The physical strength of my father was sapped and his voice had become feeble. All the doors of the house were shut when suddenly a man came to us and I was overwhelmed by his awe. We were so astonished that we didn’t even ask him how he managed to enter the house when all the doors were closed and what the purpose of his visit was. That gentleman sat besides my father spoke softly to him and my father wept. Then he arose and went away. And when he went out of our sight my father shook terribly and asked me to make him sit up. I helped him to sit up.

He opened his eyes and asked: Where is that gentleman who was sitting near me? I replied that he had left. He said: Go after him. I went after him but could not find him again as all the doors were closed. I returned to my father and related the matter to him. Then I asked him who that gentleman was. He said: He is the Saheb al-Amr (a.s.). After that his illness intensified again and he became unconscious.

Ismail (a.s.) used to graze sheep. Qaim (a.s.) also would have the same program. In the tradition of Mufaddal it is narrated from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) that he said:

“And by Allah, O Mufaddal, as if I can see him entering Mecca wearing the dress of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and
donning a yellow turban and shoes of Prophet, holding the staff of His Eminence, driving some emaciated goats; and he would walk in this manner till he reaches the Holy Kaaba. At that time there would be no one who could recognize him, he shall appear as a young man.”

Ismail (a.s.) was submissive to the command of the Almighty. He said: “He said: O my father! do what you are commanded; if Allah please, you will find me of the patient ones.”

Saffat 37:102

Qaim (a.s.) is also submissive to Divine orders.

Some of the update on my design project, “…for the…” in my module of Design 102, the final project that costs 60 percent out of the whole module, that’s a lot…

As I have told the project brief earlier in my previous post; select a client from a lucky draw, research on him/her and create an A2 poster, focusing on his/her unique characteristics and what spaces he/she needs. Then, go to Malacca (visited) for site visit and create an A1 board of site analysis of your chosen site that is related to your client.

The progress is currently until here, end of site analysis part, two more important parts to go, the design part and the interior space part. For design part, develop your design, build a model sitting on a site, and do presentation board. For interior part, build another portiion of model in much detail to show interior space, how is it being used. Finally, create a final presentation board with all models prepared for oral presentation.

My client is Amadeus Mozart, a famous musician. I stressed on his final music work, known as ‘Requiem’ which is incomplete. When he wrote this music, ordered by an unknown stranger, he knew that this piece of music is for himself as his health is getting deteriorated day by day. He kept himself in one place, full of pressure to write this music. Finally, he died because of it.

I am going to design a multi-purpose dwelling for him; a working space for him to complete the music, and a performing center for him to perform his music to the visitors in Malacca (the site). My site is on a reclaimed land of Malacca River, bordering a newly-built park and facing the Maritime Museum (a museum that resembled a Portuguese ship). The environment there is calm, peaceful, with sound from flowing water and wind. My site will be an extension from the existing pathway and park and offers a great panoramic view. Many tourists walk around the area (Malacca River Square) and will notice the iconic structure (my design – later) easily from the park, from the nearby Maritime Museum and Taming Sari Tower (observatory tower).

The last two remaining and the most important parts will be shown later in my future posts, since it has not been done yet up to schedule. Really busy weeks ahead. Architecture is torturing life!…

Stargate Universe Premiered a couple of days ago (02/10/2009) and as i am in the UK i have to wait until the 6th but i have found another way to see it. I have sat through the 2 part episode a couple of times, 1 to watch it, 2 to look at the details and the 3rd i took notes so i can write this. From this point on the could be spoilers, if you have not seen Stargate Universe of you are waiting to see it I would suggest that you leave and come back once you have seen it, but there is nothing stopping you from reading on.

The Destiny

The episode started with  a ship dropping out of FTL (Faster Than Light) and the SGU logo, we then pass over the ship, this is similar to the starting of Atlantis, then the shot changes to the interior corridors and you get a feel for how big the ship is, the camera then stops at the gate room and the gate is spinning and it then activates. After the activation of the gate Lt. Scott is throw clear from the gate.

This starting for the show is different form anything that we have seen it starts in the middle of the story which is a good way to start a show.

the way that every one and every thin came through the gate is interesting as they come through and are thrown across the gate room. once Colonel Young has com through the gate closes and we discover that hes is Injured, Badly.

Then we are looking at a game being played and it is Eli playing it, he solves the problem in the game and the game then restarts, and Eli seems to be rather annoyed by this. the day after O’Neill and Rush arrive at the door, they seem to know allot about Eli, we then find out that the game is called “Prometheus” and the problem is for the “Dakara weapon” and i like the call back to SG1 there. they beam out Eli and he is on the observation deck of the U.S.S. George Hammond and here Eli is given some information and we learn about Eli’s Mother.

Daniel Jackson

The use of Daniel for the teaching of the Stargate and all other things Related is a nice touch. the merging of the Audio of the tapes is a good feature as it is showing that there is allot of information being given and Eli is loosing concentration and becoming confused.

then we meet Chloe Armstrong in the Hammond’s Mess and she seems to know a bit about Eli as well.

Rush, Eli and scott on the observation deck

Back on to the ship and it seems that Rush had disappeared and Eli and Scott are looking for him, when they find him he is on an Observation deck and he makes a comment about the Ship,

“The design is clearly Ancient in the truest scene of the word” – Dr Rush

The Life support then fails and the title of the episode is then evident as they are running out of “Air”.

We then see something of Colonel Young’s past as he is arguing with someone, who appears to be his wife, about his reassignment, young then collapses and we see TJ looking over him and tending to him.

We are back to the Hammond and it is dropping out of HyperSpace over Icarus and then we have the Sex scene, it was a brave choice to have this in the show and it is showing that it is a very different to SG1 and Atlantis, the show could have done without it but it was important in the showing of its difference.

Senator Armstrong is introduced to the Base Military  and Rush attempts to dial the 9 Chevron Address but it dose not work, this makes Rush annoyed.

The Whiteboard

Eli makes a point about Rush using a whiteboard when there are computers everywhere on the base. I like this as when rush erases the equations from the board Eli starts saying “Save” over and over.

There seems to be a distrust of Rush as when he is trying to fix the Life support Eli comments that rush dos not know what he is doing and then Msgt. Greer aims a weapon at rush.

Cater and young think that the ships that are attacking Icarus Base are of the Lucien alliance which is another call back to SG1.

during the attack Eli makes a comment that the gate address could be a code and that the Earth Point of Origin is needed to dial, this is an idea that i had and i was pleased that i was correct about this.

The journey of the Destiny

We then see the course that the ship took and this took one of my theory’s out, i believed that the ship was sent from the original Galaxy where the Alterans and the Ori Originated but it turns out that it was from the Milky-Way and it took a course through Pegasus. this is a nice part to the plot as you discover the history of the ship and that it has traveled along way.

after jack and same have a conversation and discover that they never came back to earth Rush goes of to a secluded area of the ship and opens a case and there is a device that look’s earth made, we then find out that it is a communication terminal due to the fact that there is one on earth with a Communication stone on it and Dr Lee is sitting by it and this is who Rush uses to talk to people on earth, with the new design of the Communication terminals it means that they are able to stop the connection better that in the past.

Senator Armstrong Sacrifices himself to save everyone on the ship by sealing a section of damaged ship that can only be sealed from the damaged side. this is showing that the show is much darker that SG1 and Atlantis and this was important in showing this.

The discovery of the ship’s name towards the end of the episodes is a nice touch as it gives hope to the people that are around Rush that hear it.

Ticking Clock

at the end of the episode the gate dials a planet that Rush clams is one with what they need. the discovery of the clock is important as it means that there is a time restraint on how long that they can stay on the planet before the destiny leaves.

the episode ends on a cliffhanger where the team embark to the planet and the episode ends when rush enters the gate. I am going to have to wait for the next episode to find out what happens but i can say that the show so far is really good.

Austin cyclist and seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong decided to twitter late last night about joining him at Mellow Johnny’s Friday morning for a ride to celebrate Livestrong and his anniversary cancer date. “It was a spur of the moment thing.” said Armstrong, a cancer survivor who led about a hundred riders through the streets of Austin in a southeast direction.
