The new single, Show Off, from the upcoming Entermission album by DJ Official is now available on itunes.   The song, featuring Lecrae and Flame, is the first release from the upcoming album featuring over 20 emcees on 16 tracks.  Entermission is the debut release from DJ Official and is set to release on December 26th.  While you wait, download Show Off from itunes and prepare for the rest of the tracks the day after Christmas.

Why do people think so highly of themselves that they need to tell you and show you everything they have and everything they can do? Of course, when there is something that they can do really well, they tend to show off! It’s almost sickening. Well, apparently Lecrae, Flame and DJ Official are Show Offs…of a different kind: They don’t want to show off and boast about themselves, but about the Lord, His Grace and His Mercy. Yeah…that’s the kind of Show Off that we should pay attention to. Here is “Grace”, by J’Son featuring J.R. In this redemption story, young J’Son is convicted of sin, and God draws him to Himself by His grace. J’Son picks up a Bible and begins to read God’s Word and is saved by faith. God then leads him into fellowship with other believers.

I like this video because it highlights the mighty power and work of God in saving His people by His grace through reading or hearing of the Gospel. The key event in this story is “J’Son picks up a Bible”. This, as well as the faith he then demonstrates, is an act of God by His Grace, through the Holy Spirit.

God’s plan is that you are the messenger to bring the Gospel of grace to His lost sheep, through spoken and written word. So keep praying and working because this is how He powerfully saves His people: through THE GOSPEL.

For I am not ashamed of THE GOSPEL, for it is the POWER OF GOD for salvation to everyone who believes… Rom.1:16

I have heard a lot of stuff lately from people who say they are Christians.  Some say that preaching Jesus as the ONLY way to heaven is wrong.  Some say that it is wrong to tell people that Homosexuality is wrong.  Some say that you don’t have to tell people they are sinners or that they need to repent and place their faith in Jesus.  What Bible are THEY reading?

Let me address these one at a time, not with my own words, but with His Word:

John 14:6    Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me…” But some people want to say they believe in Jesus AND that there can be other ways.  If you really believe Jesus, you cannot believe that.  How can you believe two things that are completely contradictory?  It doesn’t work.  If you do come to Jesus, remember what He says in Luke 9:23-24:  Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. If you are interested in your agenda and the things you want in this world more than His, are you truly following Him?

I Corinthians 6:9-11  Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. So if you say it is possible for a Homosexual to enter into the Kingdom of God, then those who life a life to steal, live in drunkenness, those who are greedy, crooks, live for immorality, those who glorify anything and everything above God and those who commit adultery as a part of their normal lifestyle, will also enter the Kingdom.  If you say this is possible then you deny God’s Word.  It is clear that these are practices of Christians or Followers of Jesus before we were sanctified and justified…not after.  If we don’t tell people they are wrong for living in homosexuality, then let’s not have doctor’s tell people they are dying from cancer – let’s not have teachers tell kids they are failing – let’s not tell our children that playing with guns is wrong.  I will agree that some people get on a bandwagon about homosexuality and only talk about how wrong that sin is without ever talking about any other sin, but if we represent Christ then we must, in a loving way, share the truth with all people about all sin and His forgiveness.

Luke 13:3  I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Luke 13:5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 2 Cor 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. And there are many other verses about repentance.  It is clear that repentance is necessary for salvation.  What is repentace, though?  Repentance is to change your mind, your attitude and your direction in a way that you submit your life to the Lordship of Jesus and your primary concern is to do His will.  We must be transformed daily by the renewing of our minds.

There is some crazy stuff goin’ on out there and a lot of crazy stuff makin’ its way into churches.  We cannot and should not accept these teachings by so-called experts as truth when they are clearly false teaching.  Remember what Paul wrote to the Church at Corinth in 2 Corinthians 11:3-6  But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. But I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.” I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way. - So if you want the truth that is perfectly clear, read the Bible and compare what you hear with the truth instead of listening to people who will conform the Word of God to their own beliefs.

Oh – by the way – When someone says that God is a jealous God, that doesn’t mean He is jealous OF you, it means He is jealous FOR you.  That means that the praise and glory and time you give to other things, He wants.

116 Clique has done it again! This group of young talented rappers continue to step up and deliver great sounding , biblically saturated, theologically sound, Christ exalting music. Their latest effort is Tedashii’s “Identity Crisis”.  My friend Roger Servin has done a very good detailed review of the CD here. I’ll just share a few of my highlights today.

1)This is a wonderfully produced CD. It sounds great. In fact as we were coming home from town last night I had “26’s” turned up with the windows down and my wife made me turn it down at the red light. You need to know all I have is a factory system in my ride………………. In all the songs the music and the delivery of the lyrics flow with awesome consistency. I also love the progression and line-up of songs as they take us through The fall, our adoption and our new fellowship with each other as the church.

2)I love the way he meshed the heavy hitting in you face songs like “26’s” and “Make War”, with some more mellow laid back tunes like “Hollywood and Gotta Believe”.

3)I can totally relate to the song ”Hollywood”.  In this song he points out the dangers of allowing movies and music to influence your life. He mentions in the song alot of the movies and musicians I used to let influence me. Most of the time in  negative way. So this song hit close to home.

4)I can honestly say there are no bad songs on the entire cd. It’s not often I say that. You can put it in and enjoy it from song 1 to song 15. Of course as with any CD I have picked out my favorites “26’s ” ft Lecrae, the previously mentioned “Hollywood”, ” Make War” ft Flame “I’m A Believer” ft Trip Lee and SoYe’ and “Community” ft Stephen The Levite and Sho Baraka will definitely get extra playtime.

5)It was also good to see the other 116 artist lend their unique talents to this project. I don’t think it took away from Tedashii’s efforts at all.

All in all I highly recommend you getting this CD, especially you youth leaders that are looking for solid music for your students to listen to. You won’t be disappointed.

Lecrae & friends and Desiring God team up for this inspirational, exciting and beautifully produced video. The “Don’t Waste Your Life” theme is wonderfully demonstrated in this story of two friends who commit assault and robbery. One man gets caught; the other gets away. While in prison, Lecrae gets “apprehended by Christ” (someone witnessed to him!) and he is a changed man. His friend is on the outside, enjoying the “good life”. Lecrae sends his friend a package with a Bible and a long letter, in which he witnesses and pleads with his friend not to waste his life. He’s also declaring his desire not to waste his life anymore; he now lives for Christ.

The man is moved by his friend’s transformation and is convicted as he reads. The video ends as he picks up the Bible and letter, leaves his friends hanging out at his apartment, gets in his car and goes to visit his friend. As they meet in the prison visiting area, the man smiles at Lecrae and taps the Bible, showing that he has a humble attitude and wants to hear more.

Back when I was 15 and got saved I had a vision. I wanted to use Rap music to evangelize the lost and teach believers. Well, 22+ years later, it’s happening. Yesterday and today I have been at Tony Stone’s crib in VA droppin’ lyrics onto some beats he laced up. I just gotta say…it’s all been good, including the fellowship.

It’s not just about the music, though. I gotta make that clear. It’s also not about MY vision. I basically told God last year that I was willing to do whatever for him in ministry, even if it meant giving up rap. At that point I was no longer committed to doing it a certain way, but just being obedient. Then…He said okay…it’s gonna be through rap. Yeah – I’m gonna be 38 on April 17th and I’m startin to get gray hair on the side (dinstinguished look). It makes no sense that I could being doing this and have people listen. But that’s the way God works…using the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. They say foolish…I say God glorifyin!
