The last few weeks has been crazy for ANY retail store browsing, however I found this Snow Day Sally at Toys R Us and thought it to be pretty nifty. At first glance I thought the dome surrounding the car was an actual globe you hang on the tree, but after further inspection I realized the only thing that you can hang on the tree is a cardboard insert inside the packaging. mehh

Disney has Re- Released CARS on Blu Ray now with added content, 4 discs (one Blu Ray Disk,One DVD disk, 1 With Exclusive content , and one for a digital copy download), As well as 2 exclusive diecast cast CARS exclusive to this BLU RAY release. You get a Gold Cruisin McQueen and a Ransburg Rescue Squad Mater.

Target has gained some more exclusive packaging for the Piston Cup Racers. There are 3 newer 4 packs out. One includes Fiber Fuel and Spare Mint, another has Trunk Fresh and View Zeen, and another I can’t remember the assortment. In these newer 4 packs will be integrated “Lenticular” CARS as you will se in the 2nd 4 pack. a nice tough for those that hadn’t caught these in the singles market or packaged launchers. I think the window box packaging really makes these sets.

The Disney Store has continued their 1:43 scale CARS 2 packs with the newest edition of CARS TOON vehicles. These 2 packs do not light up however they look terrific in their window box packaging. Another great WOD from Vic at Bayou City CrossFit… I maintained a steady pace throughout and was shooting for a goal of 15 rounds. I didn’t really know what I was capable of with this particular workout, I saw on the board some heavy hitters had 16 rounds so I thought I was being slightly ambitious. With the help and motivation of everyone there during my last round with 10 seconds left I finished my box jumps and completed 15 rounds. Those were the only box JUMPS that I actually did for the whole thing, I was stepping up on the box the entire time, I didn’t intend on doing that, but after the cleans and the burpees, there was no way…

Well hello there list fans how are you today? It’s been a busy week in my little world and I managed to add three more things to the ‘done‘ list (about ruddy time too!)

My flurry of National Trust things (here and here) got some attention from their lovely twitter peeps who spread the word about a couple of my posts which in turn led to other people noticing and saying lovely things about my blog and silly challenge. For two days I felt like a celebrity (I kept telling people I’d ‘gone viral‘ – I think they just thought I had swine flu or something!) and I had lots of visits to my blog so I was dead chuffed. If you are one of those people thank you for coming over for a snoop around.

Alternatively, if you are one of the suprisingly large number of people that stumble across my blog by googling a variant of ‘change bathroom heater fuse‘ I’m sorry if all you found is my blow-by-blow account of nearly electrocuting myself. Please note that (contrary to the impression I may give off!) I am not a qualified electrician and I don’t recommend you follow my (obviously very comprehensive) instructions.

Seeing as my friend Tom enjoyed my last graph so very much I thought I’d make it a semi-regular (i.e. when I remember) feature here. Luckily my recent exploits have ticked more things off the list so it is looking a bit healthier. I love graphs.

O Negrini e eu já fizemos isso antes: ele passa a mão na minha barca de 6 cilindros, e eu entro na 155 dele.

Que maravilha recordar a direção de kart da 155, é o ponto alto do carro. Que delicia relembrar o teto solar amplo e claro da 155. Os mais debochados vão dizer que eu gosto mesmo é de pegar no pau da direção de do cambio de madeira, que só a 155 elegance tem. Mas darei de ombros. O swing não admite receios….. Negrini por sua vez, adora sentar com vontade na poltrona da 164, sendindo o torque e a suavidade da grandona que contrasta com a suspensão seca e dura da 155.

Outra coisa legal num troca-troca é o voyerismo: voce ficar olhando sua amada em ação, sendo usada por outros, você vê ela de uma outra maneira……

Mas o melhor de fazer um swing alfista é que sua esposa pode participar também, e que com esse tipo de troca-troca você poderá dar uma temperada na sua relação…….

I currently have regular donations set up for a few charities; Oxfam, the NSPCC, Friends of the Earth, Cancer Research UK, Shelter and Amnesty International. My little collection has been built up over the last few years as different campaigns and issues have become important to me. I wanted to expand my collection and get involved in another charity.

Oxfam
I was familiar with Oxfam from a fairly early age as my Granny volunteered in one of their shops and I occasionally went along to help out. I like Oxfam as they place a large emphasis on campaigning to prevent the problems they also try to fix such as climate change and fair trade.

NSPCC
I grew up with lots of children around; my Mum was a childminder and more recently my Dad has had another couple of children (plus I used to be one) so I like the fact that the NSPCC supports kids that might not have anyone else looking out for them.

Friends of the Earth
This was the most recent addition to my collection after a friend sponsored a dolphin as a gift for me. When that expired I thought I should keep up the donation in case they took the dolphin out back and shot it.

Cancer Research UK
My Grandad died of liver cancer when I was very little and I know this is a disease that affects a huge number of people both directly and indirectly. Last year I was due to run the Race For Life but wasn’t well on the day so fingers crossed for this year’s attempt!

Shelter
I don’t remember why I started donating to Shelter originally but they campaign for better housing and work to reduce homelessness

Amnesty International
One year I was working at the University Freshers Fair and Amnesty had a stall to sign people up, apparently it takes five hours of badgering me to make me sign up to support your charity!

I initially looked for War Child after watching the film Blood Diamond which includes some fairly graphic storylines about child soldiers. I’ve been following War Child on Twitter – @WarChildUK – for a while and they seem like a nice bunch.

When I got the new Deadmau5 album, I didn’t know what to expect. In some ways I was hoping for something drastically different from the first album, which was all amazing. And it is different. No it may not be drastic but it is definitely different. And FML shows that difference. It is the opening song to the album, and what a way to start an album. The first thing I thought when I heard it was how much it sounds like Tïesto. The trance element is a lot more obvious and it’s brilliant because of it. When turned loud enough (which I had the luck of experiencing), the bass tears through your chest and almost deafens you. And the one minute snare intro is one of the tensest and most suspense filled things I have ever heard.

I hope he isn’t actually using the proper translation of FML (Fuck My Life) because that would mean that I never get to see him play live again. And that is enough to kill a man. It would also mean that he never makes any music anymore. And that is also enough to kill a man.

A tsunami that wiped out entire villages in Samoa has killed at least 155 people in the South Pacific, officials said Thursday, adding the toll could rise to as much as 190.

Some 115 people have been confirmed killed in Samoa, which was worst hit by the disaster, according to Guretti Wulf of the Samoa Red Cross. Another 31 are dead in nearby American Samoa and nine were killed in Tonga, officials said.

“There’s still (people) missing,” she told AFP. “They are still looking, searching for them. I don’t think anybody’s going to be found alive at this point.” The official toll stood at 110 on Wednesday.

Rescuers are seen wading through water looking for bodies after a devastating tsunami hit the south coast of Samoa.

But Samoan disaster officials said they feared that up to 150 people may have died, a toll that would bring the total number of dead in the region to 190.

The toll is expected to rise as more bodies are being recovered and some dead were buried before they could be counted, an official told AFP.Related article: Relief efforts

“The deaths are probably between 120 and 150 in reality, it’s definitely more than the official toll,” a senior figure in the disaster management office told AFP on condition on anonymity.

“We know there will be more because recovery operations are still bringing in bodies and some villagers have buried their relatives without recording their deaths at the hospital,” he said.

An 8.0 earthquake churned up walls of water measuring between three and 7.5 metres (10 and 25 feet) that thundered down on small coastal settlements on Tuesday, smashing them to bits.

Officials in American Samoa, about 100 kilometres (60 miles) from Samoa, said 31 had been killed in the remote US outpost, but that a 12-year-old Korean girl was missing following the disaster.

In Tonga, a government spokesman said two more people had been confirmed dead after the tsunami hit its small northern island of Niuatoputapu, bringing the total number of deaths there to nine.

“There are nine people confirmed dead,” he told AFP. “We are confident that everyone has been accounted for,” he added.

More than half of homes on the island, which has a population of about 950, were damaged by the waves with many washed away, he said.

A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck in seas off Tonga and the Samoan islands on Friday but no immediate tsunami alert was issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii and Australian experts said the tremor was likely too small to create another deadly wave.

“I don’t think there is a particular tsunami danger from that earthquake,” Geoscience Australia seismologist Phil Cummins told AFP.

The US Geological Survey said the earthquake, at a shallow depth of just 10 kilometres (six miles), struck 242 kilometres (151 miles) off Tonga’s northwest island of Neiafu.

The epicentre was 377 kilometres from American Samoa capital Pago Pago, which was hard-hit by this week’s 8.0 earthquake and tsunami.

Dozens of aftershocks have rocked the region since giant waves smashed the South Pacific islands on Wednesday.

Wikipedia says that Mr Nelson intended TGWOAC to basically be a Ayn Rand’s Objectivist philosophy for dummies, which is probably why I hated it so much. Not that I necessarily have anything against objectivism, but from the first page you can tell pretty quickly that a) the book is written badly, b) it’s trying to force a viewpoint across to the reader and c) this would make a great SyFy movie.

Summary from Amazon:

A killing virus has swept the earth, sparing only children through the age of twelve. There is chaos everywhere, even in formely prosperous mid-America. Gangs and fierce armies of children begin to form almost immediately. It would be the same for the children on Grand Avenue but for Lisa, a yen-year-old girl who becomes their leader. Because of Lisa, they have food, even toys, in abundance. And now they can protect themselves from the fierce gangs that roam the neighborhoods. But for how long? Then Lisa conceives the idea of a fortress, a city in which the children could live safely and happily always, and she intends to lead them there.

So, yeah, I pretty much hated everything. The writing was horrible. It read like everything was exposition, and that’s very tough and very boring to read. Here’s an example, which comes after Lisa is trying to figure out a way to keep the little kids happy with their toys. They don’t want to share, and when she suggested that they pick out one toy each and keep that as a personal toy, they all wanted the same ones. So she introduces the idea of working to earn a new toy, to be kept for their own personal stash. In comes bland Jill, who was pushing the share and share alike plan:

Jill came in from the yard. “What’s going on in here?” She didn’t like the idea that Lisa could change the rules around. Sharing was an important thing! Jill was convinced. She knew it was!

Oh, PLEASE.

The plot was…okay. The basic ideas were fine but it became trapped in its own web with plotholes and bad characterization. For instance, in the very beginning of the book we’re told that anyone over 12 was killed off by a mysterious plague. But where are their bodies? Lisa breaks into all these houses for supplies but never runs into a corpse. She finds dead cattle, but not dead people. Did they compose super quickly? What?

And also: water. Where the hell are the kids getting their water from? Before Lisa has a philosophical awakening, all the kids seem to just be running around trying to get edible food before it goes bad. But what are they drinking? Rain water? Lake water? Are there even any lakes where they are? Why would the water system work but the electricity wouldn’t? (I’m sure there was a segment on this in Life After People.)

The plotholes, massive exposition, ridiculous dialogue and boring characters start to pile up pretty quick and I don’t think I would have finished this if it wasn’t so short. I wanted to throw it against the wall quite a few times! The only reason I gave it 1.5 birds was because I sorta liked the whole live-in-a-highschool thing (I’d totally do that if I was in a post-apocalypse world) and I liked how Lisa was tough-as-nails. I also thought it was really interesting how she supported a totalitarian kind of city instead of a democratic one (like in Gone). And I like it when people go all survivalist in cities. It’s fun to read, even when the rest of the book isn’t.

So…total disappointment. Does anyone actually like this or is it just people who like Ayn Rand who do?

Lever sitt alldeles egna liv: sväller upp som på bilden (nej jag spänner inte utden ) eller blir rätt liten -på morgnarna t.ex. Men den är alltid där numera och blir bara större.  Har snart gått 16 fulla veckor (= fostret 14 veckor) och mår bra. Magen växer dock märkbart, det känns hur det spänner och drar och det är med delade känslor jag går den naturliga utvecklingen till mötes.

Att barnet växer, att bli en “gravid kvinna”, att växa och svälla till en Big Mama på 1.80, -det är mitt nu och min närmsta framtid. Och det har bara börjat.

V6 com cambio manual, só 164 e Spider, até 1996. A 166 chegou em 1999, com um 3.0 24v um pouco modificado e somente cambio automático, e em 2003, a 156 apresentava uma roupagem mais luxuosa com o 2.5 24V e também um cambio automático com opção de uso manual automatizado.

Exceto pela Spider, que desembarcou com tudo o que tinha direito inclusive o V6, (configuração rara na Europa), os brasileiros só viram este motor nos modelos direcionados mais ao luxo do que à esportividade. As máquinas digamos, mais viscerais com o mítico motor ficaram só nas fotos estrangeiras

Dito assim fica fácil entender porque causa tanto furor em nosso país os modelos menores com cambio manual e motor V6. Eles aliam a dirigibilidade dos carros menores com a estupidez do V6 Alfa Romeo.

Além das 156 V6 manuais 1999 (veja “As oito 156 da diretoria”), acreditava-se que, da mesma maneira, a Fiat teria trazido algumas 155 V6 para o Brasil. Não trouxe. Até o momento só temos notícia de somente 03 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 em terra brasilis.

As 155 foram equipadas com uma versão 2.5 V6 12v que debitava 166cv´s (contra 150 cv das 2.0 TS). Algumas histórias das 155, na ordem que as conheci:

155 V6 1994:

Foi a primeira 155 V6 que consegui ver e dirigir. Apareceu à venda no Jornal Zero Hora, de Porto Alegre em 2005. Pediam caro, lembro na época, algo mais de R$21.000 mais dividas.

Encontrei o vendedor num posto da zona norte da cidade. Um senhor mal arrumado que me apresentou um carro na mesma situação. Uma 155 azul sem emblemas que denunciassem sua motorização, com bancos de couro rasgados e gastos, motor vazando água, rodas trocadas, pneus carecas.

Dirigir uma 155 V6 era um sonho. Dirigir essa foi um pesadelo. Um carro tão raro em tão mal estado. Dinamicamente era impossível de analisar, o motor falhava, a suspensão parecia à ponto de desmontar, cambio, freios, direção, tudo era frouxo. Fotografei, divulguei, lamentei, e me aborreci pois vi que aquele carro não iria muito longe tratado como mero meio de transporte mal cuidado e perigoso.

Em 2007, a derradeira foto enviada de São Paulo selou o destino: a 155 encontrava-se em leilão, aparentemente do mesmo jeito (ou pior) do que quando à vi. E em 2009, aparece de novo à venda no Mercado Livre (www.mercadolivre.com.br), com novas rodas (tão feias quanto às antigas) para satisfação dos alfistas (ao menos ela não tinha “morrido”.

Foi arrematada por um entusiasta do Alfa Romeo BR, que iniciou uma criteriosa restauração do carro, que, ao ser desmontado, mostrou-se mais íntegro até do que se poderia esperar.

155 V6 1992:

Haviam os rumores que um colecionador paulista possuía uma 155 V6, vista na oficina Alfamar. Este alfista era muito reservado e não falava quantos e quais carros tinha, mas sabíamos, sua coleção reunia raridades.

Era tão inacreditável que falavam que a V6 até deveria ser adaptada, e havia rumores que ele possuía não uma, mas duas 155 V6. Em 2006 este colecionador decidiu vender seus carros, apareciam raridades como 164 com 18.000km, uma raríssima 164 S, Spider´s de todos os modelos, 2300 de várias cores. Em 2007 tomo coragem e entro em contato. Recebo a seguinte mensagem “Ainda tenho a 155 V6, posso vendê-la para você. Me liga para conversarmos.”

Em poucos dias estava em São Paulo, numa garagem da Alameda Santos. Seu irmão nos recebeu. Eu não agüentava a ansiedade, descemos e lá estava ela, no fundo da garagem. Eu nem andava, flutuava para perto dela, meu sonho, que se tornaria real depois de tanto tempo. Esse modelo, ano 1992 e cor cinza, tinha a grade diferente, (modelo antigo trocado em 1993), bancos com aquecimento e padrão quadriculado exclusivo, e suspensão regulável eletricamente.

Pela primeira vez andei numa 155 V6 em boas condições. Apesar da suspensão seca, talvez problemas na “moderna” suspensão de 1992 (depois abandonada pelos modelos mais novos), dava gosto de sentir a força do V6 e o ronco encorpado da máquina. Tinha muita coisa pra fazer, acabamentos como faroletes, tecidos de porta, pintura gasta, borrachas… Mas eu havia perdido minha 155 em um acidente e teria todas as pelas necessárias para deixá-la perfeita

E depois de todo o processo de dirigir, levantar, analisar prós e contras, a venda feita e acordada verbalmente, o sonho realizado, na hora de ir embora, um transito pesado na Rua Augusta permitiu que o motor atingisse sua temperatura de trabalho e aí começou a soltar fumaça. Muita fumaça de óleo. O motor estava com problemas. E eu não tinha na época condições de comprar o carro e ainda importar peças para deixá-lo em perfeitas condições. Desisti com tristeza e arrependimento.

Fiquei sabendo que este carro foi depois entregue à uma pessoa de confiança deste colecionador, juntamente com outras Alfas, que foram vendidas ao longo do tempo. Não se sabe o paradeiro deste carro hoje.

155 V6 1995

Ainda em 2007 surge a derradeira 155 V6, a mais nova delas, uma azul ano 1995, já com pára-lamas widebody como as importadas oficialmente. Aparecia em fotos e site de oficina paulistana que se especulava teria adaptado a mecânica. Mas depois conseguimos confirmar que era a segunda 155 V6 do colecionador paulistano, que havia vendido antes. Apareceu à venda também no Mercado Livre, e imediatamente pedi para um amigo ver. É um modelo Elegance, com couro, painel de madeira, air bag. As únicas diferenças entre as 2.0 que foram vendidas oficialmente é a alavanca do cambio (de cinco marchas) com pomo diferente e o painel de instrumentos. Por fora, rodas e aerofólio da Super, e cuore pintado na cor do carro (característica das 155 V6).

Meu amigo viu, analisou o carro e me mandou fotos com a mensagem “a 155 mais nojenta que já vi”. Dei desconto pela analise (ele é muito, mas muito chato quando se trata de Alfas) mas não adiantava. Tentei me convencer que seria mais facilmente restarável que a 1992, pelo fato de ser igual às 2.0 95/96, mas decididamente eu estava (e continuo) perdidamente apaixonado pela V6 1992.

Ela ficou um tempo à venda e finalmente hoje esta 155 está no grupo Alfa Romeo BR também. Dizem, à venda.

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

Alfa Romeo insanlara bir araba markasından öte neyi çağrıştırır? Klasik sözler, tutku kelimesi, hafızalarda canlanan ve yıllardır devam eden bir dizayn stili vs. vs. Peki Ferrari desem? Sanırım en çok duyacağım kelime ruh, arkasından gelecek olan da tutkudur. Bu iki marka sağolsun, yıllardır İtalyan arabaları hep tutkunun, ruhun, estetiğin ve özellikle kırmızının bir araya geldiği yerler olarak tanıtıldılar. Fiat bile bence berbat arabalar üretse de bu imajdan nasibini aldı. Bu imajın oluşmasına sebep olan en çok katkıda bulunan ve kesinlikle saygı duyulması gereken Ferrari’yi kenara bırakırsak, ha bir de Maserati var, o da Ferrari’nin yanında ayrılabilir, diğer markaların pek de öyle tutkuya, ruha sahip olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Fiat zaten aile arabaları üretip bu konuya uzaktan yakından bulaşamayacak gibiyken, Alfa Romeo arada çıkardığı spor modellerle “bakın biz de burdayız” diyor ama bence hala yeterli değiller. Aslında yeterli değillerdi, en azından estetik açıdan.

Eskiden Alfa Romeo’lar sanki tasarımı bitmeden kübist sanatçıların düzenlemesinden geçmiş gibi görünürlerdi ama sanki o sanatçıların da rötuşları bitmeden ellerinden alınırlardı. Bende bu kanıyı yaratıyor eski Alfa Romeo’lar. Sağından solundan geçen ekstra çizgiler, arkada sinirli bir görüş yaratmak için inceltilip anlamsızca dikdörtgen haline getirilmiş lambalar, ön tarafta daha sevimli bir surat ifadesine bırakıyordu yerini. 145, 146, 155, 164 vs. hep aynı izlenim.

Zaten İtalyan otomobillerini sevmeyen biri olarak, Alfa Romeo’nun hiç bir modelini beğenmiyordum. Bu durumu Alfa Romeo yetkililerinin de pek kafalarına taktığını düşünmüyorum ama ilk defa bir Alfa Romeo’nun tasarımını beğendim. Yılların sinirli, kübist arabalarının yerine yarı klasik ama daha aerodinamik ve kıvrımlı bir görüntünün tercih edildiği araç sağladı bunu. 8C Competizione tasarımından gelecekte efsane olarak bahsedileceğinden emin olduğum bir model.

Beğendiğim noktaları, arka tarafta yere neredeyse dik bir şekilde birden kesilen gövde (kuyruk) ve bu kısmın kısa tutulmuş olması. Yine arkada tarafta, ilk bakışta aklıma Ford’un efsanevi aracı GT40′ı getiren tek yuvarlak ışıklar ve sadelik. Tabi ki GT40 zamanının çok iyi bir yarış aracı olmasından dolayı daha kalabalık bir arka kısıma sahip.

Uzun ön taraf, kısa arka taraf ve arada kalan yuvarlatılmış çizgileriyle harika görünüyor 8C. Özellikle camların verildiği şekli çok beğendim, söylemeden edemeyeceğim. Farkettiğim diğer bir nokta da en azından benim gördüğüm aracın jantlarının 5. nesil Volkswagen Golf GTI’ın (Golf GTI MkIV) ve Golf W12′nin jantlarıyla benzerliği. Sadece tesadüf ama Golf hastası biri için gözden kaçmayacak bir detay.

Sonra neler neler öğrendim… Vitesin yeterince hızlı tepki vermediğini, bagajın sadece camın altında kalan ufacık bir kısım olduğunu (spor bir arabada ne işe yarar ki demeyin az da olsa yer olması iyi olur), çok sarsıntı hissettiriyor olması, en önemlisi sürekli ön camda gösterge panelinin üstünü görüyor olmanız vs. vs. bir spor arabada, hatta süper bir spor arabada olmaması gereken, dikkat dağıtıcı, yoldan çıkarıcı her şey var gibi geliyor bana. Tabi denemedim ben bu aracı sadece gördüklerime dayanarak söylüyorum. Tasarımını görünce cidden heyecanlanmıştım “vay be ne araba yapmışlar” diye ama daha sonra duyduklarım gayet hayal kırıklığına uğrattı. Alfa Romeo ilk defa düzgün bir şey yaptı dedim ama bu değilmiş. Bir de Maserati motoru kullanılıp, kapasitesinin artırılması olayı var ki, bu arada Alfa Romeo mühendisleri bir şey öğrenememişler mi diye soruyor insan. Neyse Alfa Romeo’dakiler sinirli, hızlı görünmeye çalışan aile arabası üretimine devam etsinler, nasıl olsa hep bahsedilen ruhu kıl payı kaçırdılar.

Ufak bir detay, özel koleksiyon olarak 500 tane üretilip, 175.000€ fiyatla satılıyormuş bu tasarım harikası.

Chevelle – Sci-Fi Crimes (2009) – Po dwóch latach milczenia, rodzinny interes pod szyldem Chevelle prezentuje nową płytę, podążającą w kierunku wyznaczonym przez poprzedni album, niewiele zmieniając brzmienie czy koncepcje. Niestety dla braci i ich szwagra, kompozycje straciły na przebojowości, której nie brakowało na “Vena Sera”, całość stała się nijaka i nudna. Ciężko wytrzymać do końca płyty bez zerkania na zegarek, sprawę pogorsza jeszcze brak zapadających w pamięć kawałków, jak “Brainiac” czy “Straight Jacket Fashion” z ostatniego wydawnictwa. Raczej zawód, choć nie spodziewałem się wiele. 2/5

Caspian – Tertia (2009) – Mógłbym napisać tylko, że to kolejny post-rock wpadający jednym, a wypadający drugim uchem, nie oferujący nic ponad to, co zaprezentowało już tysiąc zespołów wcześniej. Mógłbym też na tym skończyć, bo nie wiem czy jest jeszcze coś do dodania. Pokuszę się tylko o refleksję nad kierunkiem w jakim zmierza to całe post-rockowe plimplanie – jak pokazują przykłady This Will Destroy You, czy innych God Is an Astronaut, takie granie wciąż ma wzięcie, mimo że kolejne wydawane płyty nie różnią się od siebie praktycznie niczym, bez znaczenia, o którym zespole mówimy. Rewolucji na tym polu już pewnie nie będzie, ciekawy jestem tylko, czy powolne dogorywanie tych post-rockowych wynalazków skończy się szybko, czy też czekają nas całe lata naśladowania Godspeed You! Black Emperor lub Bark Psychosis, zmierzające do nikąd. O “Tertii” zapominamy czym prędzej i słuchamy czegoś ciekawszego. 1,5/5

Caustic Resin – The Medicine Is All Gone (1998) – Jakiś mało rozgarnięty człowiek przyczepił im etykietkę “grunge”, którego delikatne wpływy słychać może na wcześniejszych albumach, lecz perełka z 1998 roku nie ma z tym gatunkiem nic wspólnego. Ten zespół, sympatyzujący z geniuszami piosenkowego rocka – Built To Spill, wydał płytę będącą wzorcowym wręcz przykładem na to, jak połączyć psychodeliczne, zawodzące gitary, świetny rozedrgany wokal oraz lekkość kompozycji w jedno, bardzo chwytliwe dzieło. Nie bez znaczenia jest tu z pewnością fakt, że gitarzysta Caustic Resin miał swój wkład w genialne “Perfect From Now On” (utwór z tej płyty pod linkiem) wspomnianej już grupy Built To Spill, gdyż również na tej płycie gitary rzucają na kolana. Świetna, naprawdę świetna płyta. 3,5/5

Vermivora peregrina  Paruline obscure  /  Tennessee Warbler 

The Tennessee Warbler nests in the Maritimes and in Québec and all the other regions of Canada during the nesting period. It is seen mainly in the boreal forest, in the spruce stands and fir groves, and in the mixed forests where it settles amidst leafy plantings and fallow lands. It feeds on invertebrates captured in the foliage of trees, namely flies, bugs, weevils, caterpillars, worms, grasshoppers, beetles and spiders. It also feeds on fruits and seeds in the fall. Its length is 11 to 13 cm.

La paruline obscure niche dans les Maritimes et au Québec et dans toutes les autres régions du Canada en période de nidification. On l’observe principalement en zone boréale, dans les pessières et les sapinières, et dans les forêts mixtes où elle fréquente les peuplements de feuillus et les friches. Elle s’alimente d’invertébrés capturés dans le feuillage des arbres, en l’occurrence des mouches, des pucerons, des charançons, des chenilles, des vers, des sauterelles, des scarabées et des araignées. Elle se nourrit aussi de fruits et de graines en automne. Sa longueur est de 11 à 13 cm.

The Black-throated Blue Warbler is a great traveler! After spending the winter in a range of 207 200 square km including the island of Cuba and the Bahamas, by mid-April it migrates towards Florida and the West Indies to finally reach Canada, Québec and the Maritimes in May, where it will settle in leafy or mixed forests. Essentially an insect-eater, the Black-throated Blue Warbler is 12 to 14 cm in length.

La paruline bleue est une grande voyageuse! Alors qu’elle hiverne dans une aire de 207 200 km carrés englobant l’Île de Cuba et les Bahamas, dès la mi-avril, elle migre vers la Floride et les Antilles pour enfin retrouver le Canada, le Québec et les Maritimes dès le mois de mai, où elle s’installera dans les forêts de feuillus ou mixtes. Essentiellement insectivore, la paruline bleue a une longueur de 12 à 14 cm.

Corvus brachyrhynchos  Corneille d’Amérique  /  American Crow

Endowed with great intelligence, the American Crow is an omnivorous eater who nests in all of southern Québec and everywhere in the Maritimes, in winter and summer alike. It is also found all over Canada and the United States during the nesting period. Its habitat is varied, and includes seacoasts, forests, open terrain, farms, urban parks, etc. It feeds on fruits, seeds, insects, small mammals, dead animals, crustaceans, mollusks, amphibians, and much more still! Its length is 43 to 53 cm.

Dotée d’une grande intelligence, la corneille d’Amérique est un omnivore qui niche dans tout le sud du Québec et partout dans les Maritimes, et ce, hiver comme été. On la rencontre également dans tout le reste du Canada et aux États-Unis en période de nidification. Son habitat est varié, qu’il soit rivage maritime, forêt, terrain ouvert, ferme, parc urbain, etc. Elle se nourrit de fruits, de graines, d’insectes, de petits mammifères, d’animaux morts, de crustacés, de mollusques, d’amphibiens et bien plus encore! Elle a une longueur de 43 à 53 cm.

ไม่ แน่ใจว่าจะวางขายตามแผงหนังสือทั่วประเทศหรือยัง เพราะพอเราได้ข่าวว่านิยายออกแล้ว ก็รีบไปหาซื้อที่ซีเอ็ดบุ๊คส์สาขาสีลมคอมเพล็กซ์ทันทีค่ะ แต่ทว่าหาไม่เจอเลย จนไปถามพนักงาน เขาก็บอกว่า “หมดแล้วค่ะ” (เพิ่งออกเนี่ยนะ โอ้ว อเมซิ่ง) เลยเดินไปถามที่ B2S กลับได้คำตอบจากพนักงานว่า “ยังไม่เข้าที่B2Sทุกสาขานะครับ”ทำเอาดิฉันสับสนในชีวิตกันเลยทีเดียวค่ะ เมื่อวานมีโอกาสไปพันธ์ทิพย์เลยแวะซีเอ็ดสักหน่อย ถามพนักงาน เขาก็ค้นข้อมูลในคอมให้ แล้วบอกเราว่า “ยังไม่ออกนะคะ แต่ถ้าจะจองก็จองก่อนได้” …แต่ไหงมีบางคนซื้อได้แล้วล่ะเนี่ย งงมาก พอกลับบ้านมาออนไลน์ พี่แอริธก็บอกว่าหาซื้อได้ที่แพร่พิทยา เซ็นทรัลปิ่นเกล้าค่ะ เราก็เลยฝากเพื่อนไปดูให้แล้วก็ได้มาในที่สุด แต่วันนี้เพื่อนเราไปคิโนะคุนิยะมา ก็เห็นว่ามีวางขายที่นั่นด้วยนะคะ
