Dear followers,

In this post I will review yesterdays Apple September Music Event. (I know I’m kind of late, but I’ve been busy with some projects so I wasn’t able to post it as soon as it was out.) Anyways! Getting started with the event review..

I must say that the best thing last evening (GMT+2 Norwegian Time) was to see our beloved Steve Jobs back on stage and back in action promoting the new stuff. As most of you Apple fanatics allready know, Steve has been out sick for a very long period of time due to his lever failure (I believe). Last night he told us that he was lucky escaping death on a cost of someone else loosing their life. What had happened was that Steve wouldn’t have been up there on that stage, or maybe not even with us if there wasn’t for a donor, a 20 year old man who have had a car accident, which he didn’t survive… Steve explaining this went on to letting some of the representatives introduce the new stuff from Apple this fall (at least music-wise). On the side there you see Steve up on the stage promoting some new stuff in the iPod Nano that will be revealed later on in the article. iTunes 9 was the first thing out there and in this version they’ve done tons of improvement. First

time I heard about this I thought it was just some minor improvements like on the versions before, but iTunes 9 really suprised me. They’ve added ton of stuff and they also improved alot! Now one of the first functions was the new “Genius Playlist” where this will function as a DJ for all your Genius songs/playlists in the library. (With Genius just being released in the version 8 of iTunes it’s good to see some updates and new functions). Next up is the entire look. iTunes looks more smother, the synchronizing has been improved and updated to be more user friendly (something Apple is farmilliar with). Than we have the new functions like “Home Sharing”. What Home Sharing allows you to do is share music, movies and TV shows with 5 other authenticated computers in your home network . (TV Shows and Movies are only available for the US Store I think). Than we have some other small stuff such as improvement of the “Smart Playlists” etc.

Not sure why anyone in their right mind would buy a Zune over an Ipod, but if you’re one of the few who walk to the beat of their own drum, than here’s some deats on how you can preorder yourself a new Zune HD:

This week, Microsoft announced that the Zune HD would be available for pre-order starting Thursday, August 13 from a few key online retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy, and the Microsoft Store. With the release, the company also revealed that the Zune HD will come in 16GB and 32GB variations for $219.99 and $289.99 respectively, with a formal North American release date of Tuesday, September 15. For those that prefer to pick up their Zune HD in-person, the Zune HD will be available for in-store pre-order beginning on August 16 at Best Buy locations nationwide.

Com suporte a redes HSDPA, nova versão do sistema operacional e um processador de 600 MHz. A câmera – um das principais falhas do telefone da Apple – também foi aprimorada. Ela passa a ter resolução de 3 MP, autofocus e traz a possibilidade de gravar vídeos a até 30 frames por segundo.

A capacidade de armazenamento também foi aumentada: o celular está disponível em versões de 16GB ou 32GB. Porém, o iPhone 3G de 8GB continua no mercado.

A duração da bateria foi melhorada e deve aumentar entre 15% e 20% de acordo com a fabricante. Mas continua sendo fixa.

Os novos iPhones chegam ao mercado norte-americano no próximo dia 19 por US$ 199 e US$ 299 (respectivamente os modelos de 16GB e 32GB). Com isso, o preço do iPhone 3G de 8GB cai para US$ 99.

No resto do mundo, ele deve começar a ser vendido em agosto. A boa notícia é que o Brasil parece estar na lista. Só que os preços provavelmente serão bem salgados, o negócio é esperar!!

With the new iPhone OS 3.0 out today and first reviews of the iPhone 3G S emerging, it’s pretty much Apple day around the country. Current iPhone owners can download the software from iTunes for free, and iPod Touch users can get it as well, but for a fee of $9.95

– The update includes many functions other phones have had for a while, including multimedia messaging (if supported by your carrier–AT&T won’t offer it until later this summer), voice recording, buying and renting movies and TV shows over the air, full system search, tethering (again, if your carrier allows it), and push notifications. But also some new ones like landscape keyboard, improved mail and calendar, and spotlight search.

The good:
The iPhone 3G S finally adds common cell phone features like multimedia messaging, video recording, and voice dialing. It runs faster; its promised battery life is longer; and the multimedia quality continues to shine.

The bad:
The iPhone 3G S’ call quality shows no improvements and the 3G signal reception remains uneven. We still don’t get Flash Lite, USB transfer and storage, or multitasking.

The bottom line:
The iPhone 3G S doesn’t make the same grand leap that the iPhone 3G made from the first-generation model, but the latest Apple handset is still a compelling upgrade for some users. The iPhone 3G S is faster and we appreciate the new features and extended battery life, but call quality and 3G reception still need improvement.

– Don’t have your new iPhone pre-ordered yet? Unfortunately you may be left out in the dust. AT&T is reporting that its iPhone Pre-Orders are all sold out and you’ll have to wait in line when retail stores open at 7 AM on Friday the 19th, if you want a chance to get a phone. Basically, they’ll sell all the pre-orders first… IF there are any phones left when that’s done then the general public will get first come first serve dibs. The average estimate is a 2 week wait if you try to buy your phone online. Looks like a large percentage of people will be left out in the cold this Friday when they go to get their new phone. Looks like it pays to pre-order well in advance for this thing.

– Also brand new report coming in from AT&T about their upgrade eligiblity plan for current iPhone users. If you’re an AT&T customer that isn’t eligible for a phone upgrade yet, but will be eligible in July, August or September, good news. You’re eligible starting Friday, June 19. If you’re like most people who upgraded to the 3G last year at launch, you’ll have to check your eligibility online to see if you qualify. If it doesn’t fall within those three months, you’ll have to wait until whatever date it says on your account.

How it Works
The accelerometer inside iPod touch uses three elements: a silicon mass, a set of silicon springs, and an electrical current. The silicon springs measure the position of the silicon mass using the electrical current. Rotating iPod touch causes a fluctuation in the electrical current passing through the silicon springs. The accelerometer registers these fluctuations and tells iPod touch to adjust the display accordingly.

Wie inzwischen verschiedenen Websiten zu entnehmen ist, läuft die Produktion des neuen iPhones auf Hochtouren. Als Erscheinungstag kristallisiert sich immer mehr der 8. bzw. 17. Juni heraus. Welche neuen Funktionen es gibt, ist mehr oder weniger auch schon bekannt.

Neben einem Kompass – nette Funktion: man dreht sein iPhone auf eine Sehenswürdigkeit und es erkennt genau, welche Informationen man haben möchte – soll auch die Kamera endlich auf 3,2 MPixel aufgehübscht werden. Außerdem, so ist es heute auf der Seite von T-Mobile Österreich zu entdecken (wohl ein Frühschuss), wird der Speicherplatz von 16 GB auf 32 GB erhöht werden. Dass die allgemeine technik (Prozessor u.ä.) der heutigen Zeit entspricht und etwas flotter läuft, dürfte wohl selbstverständlich sein. Dass, wie gemunkelt, das neue iPhone einOLED-Display enthält, dürfte sich allerdings als Freischuss herausstellen – die Technik wird frühestens im kommenden Jahr eingebaut werden…

Im Endeffekt liegen die ganz großen Neuerrungen also  in den bereits bekannten Änderungen und Verbesserungen der Software, dem neuen OS3. Und davon profitieren alle Alt-Besitzer genauso, wie die neuen Käufer. Zumindest die, die die letzte Generation (3G) ihr eigen nennen können… Wünsche nach einem iPhone Nano oder Shuffel wird Apple wohl nicht erfüllen – dazu gibt es keinerlei Anzeichen, auch wenn es schon die abenteuerlichsten Illustrationen (oben) gibt…

Update: Klar ist inzwischen, dass das Innenleben aufgefrischt wird! Der Arbeitsspeicher wird auf 256 MB verdoppelt, der neue Prozessor wird mit 600 MHZ ticken, der alte hatte “nur” 412. Damit können die neuen iPhones nicht nur schneller Programme öffnen – vor allem im Internet wird die Technik ihre Vorteile ausspielen: Seiten werden schneller gerendert, damit wird der Aufbau von Websiten massiv beschleunigt, was sich vor allem bei Internetverbindungen übers Telefonnetz deutlich positiv auswirken wird.

Nun geht es also los: Am Wochenende wurde bekannt, dass die Produktion der kommenden Generation des iPhones angelaufen ist. Spannendste “Neuerung”: Es wird eine 3,2 Mega-Pixel Kamera geben. Gut, so wirklich viel mehr als die recht bescheidene 2er Kamera ist das auch nicht, aber immerhin…

Ansonsten bleibt wohl alles eher beim alten. An der Optik wird wohl nicht viel passieren – warum auch? Gerade einmal ein Jahr ist das bisherige Erfolgsmodell ja auch dem Markt. Ob tatsächlich eine Kamera zum Chatten auf der Frontseite zu finden sein wird, ist ebenso fraglich, wie die Aufstockung des Speichers auf 32 GB. Was ja letztlich auch kein Muss ist, oder? 16 GB reichen. Klar, es können mehr sein – aber für ein Telefon sollten 16 GB erstmal reichen. Da bekommt man auch noch genug Musik und Filme drauf. Apple soll inzwischen 4 Millionen neue iPhones geordert haben…

Angeblich soll es drei Typen geben: Einen “Klassiker”, also das “herkömmliche” Europa-Modell, eine “Ami”-Version ohne Edge und eine dritte Version für den Chinesischen Markt – sicher gleich mit den entsprechenden Internet-Kastrationen…

Software wird das neue iPhone nicht westenstlich  bessere bekommen als das bisherige: Dank OS 3 erhalten ja alle iPhones ihr Update. Offen bleibt, ob es tatsächlich eine Videofunktion geben wird…  Ansonsten liegt das iPhone wie immer um Lichtjahre vor der Konkurrenz und muss die vielbeschworenen iPhonekiller weiter nicht mal annähernd fürchten.

Das neue Telefon wird mit an Sicherheit grenzender Wahrscheinlichkeit wieder im Juni auf den Markt kommen. Und, noch was zu fehlenden Eigenschaften, die mich als Nutzer betroffen machen: Es kann wieder nicht Kaffee kochen, Staubsaugen und Spiegeleier braten!

Apesar da SanDisk não ter dito uma palavra, o seu novo microSDHC de 16 GB já pode ser encontrado em várias lojas online e varejistas dos EUA, com um preço que varia entre 80 a 220 dólares.

É classe 4, o que quer dizer que escreve no mínimo em 4 Mbps. Alguns dos celulares compatíveis são, por exemplo, os smartphones Nokia N95, N96, N78 e os HTC Tytn II e Touch, entre outros.

SanDisk de 16 GB varia entre 80 e 220 dólares.

Lo que ocurre generalmente es que carecemos, en muchos caso, de la capacidad de asombro. Digo, en cuestiones de toda índole. Sean sociales, políticas, económicas, científicas, tecnológicas. A ver, nada nos asombra. De la misma manera que a mí no me asombró cuando me llegó un mail de una conocida empresa de artículos de tecnología que me ofrecía un Pen Drive de 8 GB. “Buenísimo”, pensé; siendo que lo más grande que había visto era de 2 GB.

El asunto es que parece que andan dando vuelta en el mercado unos Pen Drives hackeados (léase “truchos”) que fueron alterados y que no tienen, ni lejos, esa capacidad de almacenamiento. Algunos con suerte llegan a 4 GB reales y otros son apenas de 500MB. El producto “maravilloso” comenzó a venderse en e-Bay hace casi un año pero ya está desembarcando en negocios de venta directa al público (no digo que sea hackeado, pero a mí ya me ofrecieron uno con esa asombrosa capacidad en un negocio de acá, de Rosario).

PEVENCIÓN. Generalmente son más baratos que otros de menor capacidad.

Acabo de leer en bandaancha.eu un caso que hace referencia a otro (el denunciante de e-Bay), que cuenta algo interesante: “…un pendrive hackeado funciona perfectamente mientras no se supere su capacidad real. Es decir, si supuestamente el sistema operativo nos dice que tiene 8GB, pero la capacidad real son 4GB, podremos grabar perfectamente cosas en el hasta esos 4GB, pero si los superamos empezará a hacer cosas raras. De hecho todo lo que se grabe por encima de esa capacidad real aparece corrupto y luego no podremos acceder a esa información…“.

El caso es que, por lo que cuentan en xenuced.com existe un software para detectar si el Pen Drive está “hackeado” y la lectura que hace nuestro SO es errónea. Se llama iFormat (pueden descargarlo de Rapidshare, es gratuito) y nos dá la lectura de capacidad física exácta. Hay otra aplicación, similar, fabricada por HP, llamada HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (no es gratuita pero puede descargarse)
