HONG KONG, Nov 23, 2009 (AFP) – The price of gold soared to a record close of 1,166.00-1,167.00 US dollars an ounce in Hong Kong on Monday as dealers moved into the safe haven commodity due to the weak greenback, analysts said.

It opened at 1,158.00-1,159.00 US dollars.

The precious metal was up from Friday’s close of 1,145.00-1,146.00 dollars as stocks on Wall Street suffered a third straight loss and as the US unit continues to struggle due to super-low interest rates.

“We closed on the day’s high Friday, so that prompted more buying this morning,” Anderson Cheung, director of precious metals at Mitsui Bussan in Hong Kong, told Dow Jones Newswires.

“People are talking about buying gold long-term exposure, as a safe haven,” Cheung said.

The price of gold has soared 11.5 percent since India’s central bank at the start of November bought 200 tonnes from the International Monetary Fund.

“We might see some early profit taking on the London opening, but a real bull trend has formed. It’s very easy to push the price higher right now. The sentiment in the gold market really changed since the IMF gold sale to India’s central bank,” said Wallace Ng, chief gold dealer at Fortis in Hong Kong.

Not exactly the nicest thing to say about a yet-t0-be-released Gunpla but those are my exact words right now. I am officially canceling my pre-order for this thing. What is my issue with it? It is exactly what you see above. The wing binders(?) cannot rotate! How are you supposed to make dashing/striking poses if those can’t move?! Well, I supposed you sorta can… but it obviously wouldn’t look as dramatic/dynamic.

So I can’t pose the PG 00 Raiser like its HG 1/144 counterpart. Wow. From what I see, this model is basically a stationary suit (as opposed to MOBILE suit har har). This isn’t the only thing that ticked me off… the proportions of the PG model also seems a bit odd. The lower half of the body seems wayyy more muscular than the top… and the huge exposed rectangular waist makes it even more apparent… Take a look to see what I mean:

Ehhh… not gonna spend ~$300 on something that even a professionally completed model can’t impress me. As for the MG Victory…

Hope you don’t mind if I bash on this model yet again. Honestly, I was hoping some more preview images and mag scans might lighten up my view on this model but that’s not the case. There’s plain… and then there’s damn vanilla plain. It doesn’t even look good standing there (no GFF stance). Okay, designs aside (let’s ignore how boring it looks)… let’s just talk about the way it stands. First off, for comparison’s sake…

The GP03S Stamen. Also designed by Katoki. Also has that simple “bored” look to it BUT it does a great job just standing there (my opinion). Like it looks strong just standing there. The V… not so much. Doesn’t look very confident… kinda wimpy. Maybe the person didn’t do a good job at posing the model (benefit of the doubt) but as I observe it a little longer… I noticed something…  V’s feet aren’t exactly flat on the table as if there aren’t enough ankle movement to allow it to be completely on the ground. I noticed this with the first announcement photos as well during that whachamacallit show. So not only is the MG V yawn-inducing but also can’t do a proper “GFF stance”… unlike ALL the other MGUC models o_O. No… I wouldn’t judge it that far. Not yet anyway.

*If you are slightly confused by “GFF Stance”, then just look at any Gundam Fix Figurations and the way they just simply stand there… that stance. It’s so simple yet evokes a sense of coolness and… whatever positive thing I can’t think of to describe it at the moment.

I apologize for making a bashful post especially after a long absence but I don’t think my points are entirely invalid here as well ^^;. Honestly, I would like to be proved wrong (who wouldn’t want Gunplas to be awesome instead?) I think being stressed out affects one’s mood and perspective to a certain degree also methinks…

I’ll probably finally have a chance to work on Turn A’s photoshoot tomorrow…

In lieu of not having a proper page for this, below is a gallery of the PG Red Frame I built…not sure what the exact date was, but I preordered this kit so it couldn’t have been more than two or three days past when it came out. Enjoy! For the record…I didn’t bother with the shield or rifle. Let’s face it, they don’t matter.

Din ceea ce se vede, pare sa fie vorba despre un Corvette Z06, ceea ce inseamna ca bolidul negru avea  peste 320 km/h!

Este es un diorama, obra del Francés Laurent Mützig, esta hecho a partir de varias escalas diferentes 1/24, 1/43 y 1/60 y de diferentes marcas como; Majorette, Gorgi, Matchbox, Husky, Burago y Heller, etc…

Representa un desguace de automóviles Francés cerca de la localidad francesa de “Colmar”, donde aparecen modelos de las marcas de automóviles más características de ese país, como son Peugeot, Renault y sobre todo Citroën.

El detalle y envejecido de las maquetas es excelente, así como la colocación y decoración de todo el diorama.

Parus carolinensis  Mésange de Caroline ou Mésange minime  /  Carolina Chickadee  

The Carolina Chickadee is a bird found mainly in the eastern United States, in the valleys and mountains. It is also fond of leafy forests, clearings and woods, where it can fly from branch to branch, because only very rarely does it come down to the ground! Its length is 12 cm.

La mésange de Caroline ou minime est un oiseau que l’on retrouve principalement dans l’est des États-Unis, dans les vallées et les montagnes. Elle apprécie également les forêts de feuillus, les clairières et les bois, là où elle peut voler de branche en branche car elle ne descend que très rarement au sol! Elle a une longueur de 12 cm.

Le caracara huppé niche dans le sud des États-Unis, là où l’on retrouve de vastes espaces broussailleux. Il se nourrit principalement de charognes, mais il complète son alimentation par de petits mammifères qu’il chasse et des insectes qu’il capture. Il mesure 53 cm.

Zeneida aurita  Tourterelle à queue carrée  /  Zeneida Dove  

Little is known about the Zenaida Dove. In the days of John James Audubon, this bird was observed in Florida and in the West Indies. Today, it is seen but very rarely south of the American peninsula, near water expanses and mangroves. Its length is 25 cm.

On connaît peu de chose au sujet de la tourterelle à queue carrée. À l’époque de John James Audubon, on observait cet oiseau en Floride et aux Antilles. Aujourd’hui, on le croise que très rarement dans le sud de la péninsule américaine, près d’étendues d’eau et de mangroves. Il a une longueur de 25 cm.

Ich hab es endlich geschafft, sämtliche Daten von meinem Laptop (zumindest die, die ich noch brauchen könnte), auf meine Netzwerkfestplatte zu kopieren. Ich hab im Laptop ne 160GB-Platte, die jetzt seit 3 Jahren rappelvoll ist. Da ich sowieso (ich hab schon mal nen Eintrag darüber geschrieben) noch das Windows XP draufhabe, das ich auch schon vor 6 Jahren draufhatte, ist alles ziemlich langsam geworden.

Eigentlich wollte ich mit der Komplettformatierung der Festplatte erst am 22. Oktober weitermachen (weil da Windows 7 rauskommt ), aber warum die 1 1/2 Monate nicht nutzen, um ein paar Experimente mit dem Ding zu machen?

Also werde ich heute bereits auf dem 2. Computer den Versuch starten, Mac OS X zu installieren

Wenn das nicht klappt überbrücke ich die restliche Zeit mit Ubuntu oder irgendeinem anderen leichten System. Trotzdem drückt mir die Daumen für ÄPPPEEEL!!!
