As long as you like old school cars, now there is something for everyone. And the biggest tag cloud in the World.

Simplicity, thy name is Datsun. Cool colour, L18 + hot cam and Weber 45s = awesome.

I was lucky enough to be on the shortlist of Miron Properties‘ “most eligable brokers” to have a shot at helping rent these super affordable, ridiculously nice apartments on 10th St. x C & D.

Here’s an exhaustive photo scroll-about which may seem repetitive but it’s my only way to brainwash and hypnotize you.

- I’m only starting with the 4br because it’s not really a 4br.  It’s two, 2brs connected by a ginormous patio big enough to hold the next World’s Fair.

- See that thing?  Rezonkulous.

- Another chance for you to drink in the newness and the glory of the rear exterior.  You can see how pretty much every unit has outdoor space.  Good stuff.

- It doesn’t matter which unit this kitchen is from because they all look exactly the freakin’ same.  There’s a sink, a stove, a fridge, a micro, some shiny cabinets, and tile floor.  No surprises here but I may post another photo of another kitchen in the building which will look the same just to prove my point a little further down.

- This is interesting… see that tape on the floor on toward the left of the room?  That’s where the person who has already signed a lease on this unit decided they want their wall to be constructed.  That’s right, custom wall configuration.  BOOM!

- This is the wall looks like once it’s up.

- Knock knock. Who’s there?… oh, nevermind, I can see you on my video intercom.  Go away, freak.

- For those familiar with this part of town, you know it’s along a strip of low-income housing high-rises but not exactly walled in by them. This is the view from of the 4th floor units’ windows.  Can’t say why but I like it.

- The bathrooms pretty much have the same thing going on as he kitchens; if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen ‘em all.  Tub, sink, toilet, mirror… same same… whole building.

- Pretty shot of one of the upper floor units.  I think this is actually the top floor which may have been rented but again, you can see how the afternoon light pours through tose big windows and glass doors.

- This is one of the top floor patios.  On a clear day, all of lower Manhattan would be revealed before thee.

- Really not sure if anyone gives a rat’s ass but this is the lobby.

- I don’t know exactly the full deal on the garage here but I suspect there’s room for a few cars.  Likely an additional cost above and beyond the rent but could be worth it  Parking largely sucks around here.

- And we’ll conclude our tour with a full frontal exterior.

- Pets are fine.

Full on retro-tech upgraded Bluebird SSS coupe. It’s got an S14 SR20DET under the bonnet with the usual mods, IIRC it’s got about 220kws along with a R200 LSD and R33 GTS25T brakes all round. Continuing the Nissan theme the wheels are R32 GTS-t on the front and the wider R32 GTR wheels on the back.

When the villagers of Eyam, Derbyshire, made the decision to quarantine themselves to prevent spreading the plague in 1666 they risked painful and grotesque deaths. Geraldine Brooks came across their story when holidaying in the English countryside, a lush, green, respite from her work as the Middle East correspondent for the Wall Street Journal. She was so touched by the villagers’ resolution that she decided it was the story she really wanted to tell and penned Year of Wonders, a fictionalised account of their ordeal sprinkled with anecdotes that had been passed down over the years.

Eyam’s terrible year is recounted through the eyes of housemaid Anna Firth, a timid and unlikely heroine at the book’s opening. She sees her family and the villagers perish one after the other, and then witnesses the survivors turn on each other. Year of Wonders is a story of both the best and worst of humanity; after the villagers make the selfless decision to quarantine themselves some commit to caring for the sick, while others give way to violence and hysteria, or prey on the hardships of others with opportunistic trickery. For the Black Death is not the only killer in Eyam, the ugly side of human nature claims more than one life.

Anna is taken under the wing of her employer, the rector’s wife Elinor, as a kind of protégée. She matures from a completely illiterate servant to Elinor’s trusted friend, confidant and advisor, as well as a sought-after herb dabbler and midwife. As the plague peaks and then diminishes the story gradually becomes concerned with the complex relationships between Anna, Elinor and her preacher husband Michael Mompellion. These connections see Anna go from the transformed to the transformer as she seeks to aid Mompellion, she becomes a kind of empowered Jane Eyre.

Brooks evokes the disgusting nature of the disease with skill: “I almost dropped the pitcher in my shock. The fair young face of the evening before was gone from the pallet in front of me. George Viccars lay with his head pushed to the side by a lump the size of a newborn piglet, a great, shiny, yellow-purple nob of pulsing flesh. His face, half turned away from me because of the excrescence, was flushed scarlet, or rather, blotched with shapes like rings of rose petals blooming under his skin. His blond hair was a dark, wet mess upon his head, and his pillow was drenched with sweat. There was a sweet, pungent smell in the garret. A smell like rotting apples.” Yet Brooks tells this tale of suffering, love, friendship and sacrifice so masterfully that even I, of a squeamish disposition, remained transfixed to the end. We live in a time where a new epidemic is perceived to be lurking in the not too far off future, and so to survive the Black Death alongside Anna in 1666, with little sophisticated medicine, no antibiotics and ignorance and superstition rife amongst the population was both a fascinating and terrifying experience.

Λέξεις που χαρακτηρίζουν το στυλ που γεννήθηκε λίγο μετά το 1600 σχεδόν ταυτόχρονα, σε Ρώμη και  Παρίσι, και ταξίδεψε σε Αμερική, Ασία και Ειρηνικό, καταλαμβάνοντας την πρωτιά σε Αρχιτεκτονική και τέχνες (μουσική, ζωγραφική, θέταρο, γλυπτική,κ.λ.π.), για τα επόμενα 150 χρόνια.

Μέσα από το μπαρόκ, μπόρεσαν  εκφραστούν οι καλλιτέχνες, αναδύοντας το ταλέντο από τα εσόψυχά τους. Κατάφεραν να ενώσουν την αρχιτεκτονική με την τέχνη, δίνοντας ένα δημιουργικό αποτέλεσμα από τους κήπους και τα έπιπλα, ως την όπερα και το μπαλέτο.

Δείγματα μπαρόκ μουσικής έχουμε από τον Vivaldi, τον Bach, τον Corelli, κ.ά.

Στη ζωγραφική, τα καλύτερα δείγματα έδωσαν ο Vermeer, o Caravaggio, o Rembrandt, o Velasquez, κ.ά.

Τον δυναμισμό και την ένταση μέσα από τη γλυπτική, έδωσαν ο Gian Lorenzo Bernini, ο Assam  και ο Guenther.

Aρχιτέκτονες που ξεχώρισαν για τον πλούτο των σχεδίων τους, ήταν ο  Giacomo Zanetti, o Claude Perrault, οι  Martinelli, κ.ά.

Στον χορό, διέπρεψαν οι χορογράφοι Raoul Auger Feuillet και Pierre Rameau στη Γαλλία, ενώ ο John Weaver και ο Κellom Tomlison, καθοδηγούσαν τους χορευτές της αγγλικής επαρχίας και των αποικιών της.

Δεν είναι δύσκολο να διακρίνουμε τα χαρακτηριστικά αυτής της εποχής, αρκεί να παρατηρήσουμε λίγο τα δείγματα που άφησαν οι καλλιτέχνες της τότε εποχής…Δυναμισμός μέσα από τις γραμμές, τους ήχους, την κίνηση. Πλούτος μέσα από τα υλικά, τους όγκους, την υπερβολή.Εντυπωσιασμός μέσα από τις δραματικές φόρμες σε αντικειμενα, χορό, όπερα.

Το μπαρόκ, θα αντικατασταθεί από το ροκοκό που εμφανίζεται στη Γαλλία ως τάση, γύρω στα 1720.
