I tapped the passenger on my right, and showed this message to her thru my phone. And she smiled. Like that genuine smile of both concern and pity. But more of the former. I couldn’t see much because there weren’t any lights inside the van that we were riding in. But her smile was too wide and too genuine for me not to notice. She greatly wanted to be of help. You see, today is Day Two of the voiceless me. Literally. I have no voice. Thanks to my insistent coughing, my tonsils couldn’t handle it much longer hence, I have no voice.

It’s a hassle of course. But why bother making it a big deal when I know for a fact that it’s just a voice, and that it’ll come back eventually. Of course there are moments when I find myself laughing and I don’t hear anything coming from me, hell that’s both weird and sad. Or when I want to share something to my friends and to the people at the office but I can’t. Or the simple “Hi” or “Thank You” to strangers that I’ve been accustomed to say, but now can’t.

So what do I do? Should I stay in bed and wait until my lungs and tonsils say “OK”? Nopppppeee! That’s a huge waste of time!
So off I went to work and use my being mute to my advantage. It’s funny how people react to me being pipi. Others try and whisper back to you. Others always ask how you are feeling. Others make light jokes and make you feel better. While others genuinely smile at you. And the best part? The kindness of strangers is overwhelming.

On the bus to work:

I showed the conductor the paper where I have written my destination/ stop.
He smiled and read the paper.
I tried to use my hands in saying that I have no voice.
He smiled.
After 30 minutes, I was at my stop.
I stood up.
The conductor saw me and touched me on my shoulder.
“Ingat ka ha”.

O diba, cool!

Itutuloy na ba kita sa permanent?

Today was such a bad day, I couldn’t see the beauty in it. Or the awesomeness, for that matter. I was just itching for beer. And alcohol was all I could think about. I was just not in the mood, no amount of positivity was coming out of me. And when that alcohol reached my tongue… boy, I’ve never felt better.

And days like that… they’re always meant for sharing. Plus the alcohol. Cheers to that!

Hoarder. Central. Lost soup. Crazy. Crawford. Mushroom. Gumption Junction. Pizza. Polaris. 3rd Place. Winners. Dinosaurs. Fake phone. Sword lipgloss. Handcuffs.

Bukas birthday ko na. Today is technically Nov. 27, 2009. As I am not much of a geek, I would rather spend my birthday with people who I love and who loves me.

Who would’ve thought I get to see my 23rd? Pag bata ka pa, this will sound cheesy. Pag invisible ka pa, this will sound dramatic. But the fact remains that nothing really is permanent. What you see today can be gone tomorrow. You get the point. Or maybe you don’t. Perhaps this is just me thinking out loud. The point is, as I’ve said to a stranger almost a year ago, WE. ALL. HAVE. TO. CELEBRATE. OUR. BIRTHDAYS. No matter how, where, when, or with whom. We have to celebrate it. It is YOURS. You’re fucking alive. So go and celebrate that fact. Wag na maginarte, go!

And so tomorrow I shall do that. And hopefully, I can hold that celebration for as long as I could (without ruining the moment of course).

Let’s celebrate because I’m cancer free! Let’s celebrate because great friends are here! Let’s celebrate because love is and will still exist. Let’s celebrate because there’s birthday sex. Let’s celebrate because we can be silly over petty crushes. Let’s celebrate because we can!

It’s a great way to start a birthday week! Wohooo!

Pag malapit na birthday mo, feel mo magnilay-nilay. It’s not about the Christmas, or the New Year. It’s about your year, your day, your month, your birth. It symbolizes the number of years you’ve existed. Most importantly, the things you’ve done, the risks you’ve taken, the friends and lovers you’ve met along the way. It’s not so much of the regrets (unless pessimist ka), but more of the “what you’ve reached”. It’s also about the what ifs and the what could be. The wish-you-could, and the i-promise-next-time-i-would.

At the end of the day, what you look back to are the roads you’ve walked on. At the end of the day, what you look forward to are the roads you’d want to take. And so move forward. Continue on making plans, continue on finding new roads and taking new directions. Continue on making new friends and loving new people. Continue on taking risks and getting on adventure trips. Just go. Ignore your fears. You only get to celebrate your birthday once a year. It’s yours for the taking. It’s yours to enjoy. It’s your to take pride in. And it’s yours to look back and look forward to.

It’s all about YOUR happiness. If it includes others’ then, so be it. At the end of the day, you only ask yourself two questions:

Masaya ka ba?

Naibigay mo ba lahat ng kaya mong ibigay?

Either way, take comfort in the fact that today, you did good. And tomorrow, you’ll do better.

Alam mo ba kung gaano kasarap mangarap? Alam mo ba kung gaano kasarap ang magplano?

It means you have time on your hands. It means you have the means, the power, and the capacity to do so. It means you can do anything you want to do. It all depends on you. Walang time limit, walang budget cuts, walang kahit anong limitasyon sa kung ano ang pwede at gusto mong gawin.

Of course, when you’re on the road towards achieving those said dreams, pain is inevitable. Naghahabol ka eh. Nananalig. There’d be tough roads to go through. Dreaming tests your endurance, your faith, your patience and your guts. Bibigay ka ba o lalaban? Iiyak o tatawa?

So when you dream, dream big. Dream bold. Dream for yourself. Dream for others. Dream for your country. Dream and go live it. Go fight for it. Go pursue it. Make plans and accept that plans change. But still go for it. Move forward. Every step will lead you towards that bright light. Dare to dream. Dare to succeed. Dare to be happy.

Leaving our Fingertips

You always have the option to choose between being happy and being miserable. And after all the pain, the hurt and the sadness, I hope, I really hope you don’t forget to choose to be happy. We make ourselves happy. And that’s one of the best decisions we can ever make in this lifetime.

Tonight was a good night for a jog. For a run. For a moment to simply just catch your breath. For a moment to simply let go and run as fast as you possibly can.

Tonight was a good night for a step. Even for two steps. For a minute to let your legs guide your steps, and to let the air pass you by.

First of all let me explain the absence of posts over the past 2 days. There’s not point in bullshitting you so I’ll just tell the truth and tell you that I didn’t have time. Anyway…

This song brings back shamefully many memories. And what’s more shameful is that they’re not even bad memories. I liked Avril Lavigne a lot when I was younger. It’s true that she’s a hell of a lot worse now, but back then she didn’t make bad pop songs. I think this was one of the first albums that I bought independently (after some Sum 41 of course. I had an odd obsession with pop punk) and I’ve never regretted spending the money. I’d say that half the songs on there were hits and most people who knew that era and even those who didn’t like Avril Lavigne would remember them today. If only she did the same type of thing now I’d say she wouldn’t be that bad. But she doesn’t so she is.
This is a plea to Avril. Please make more songs with choruses with just the weird vocal noise like this one have. Then I will buy it and we will be happy.

The American Tree Sparrow is not afraid of the cold! Present in Canada and the United States during the nesting period, it nests essentially in the Nouveau-Québec and Basse-Côte-Nord regions in Québec, in the tundra zone. During the winter, it migrates toward all the other Québec regions and is capable of surviving the worst cold weather conditions. It feeds mainly on seeds and plants, but can be tempted by insects, flowers and fruits during the nesting period. It also visits feeding dishes during the winter. The length of the American Tree Sparrow is 15 to 16 cm.

Le bruant hudsonien n’a pas peur du froid! Présent au Canada et aux États-Unis en période de nidification, il niche essentiellement au Nouveau-Québec et sur la Basse-Côte-Nord, en zone de toundra. En hiver, il migre vers toutes les régions québécoises et est capable de survivre aux pires froids.
