It’s true! today is my birthday. I am nineteen. not much happens at 19.

New update–I am changing my minor from photography to fire science. I am definitely thinking about being a volunteer fireman during Christmas break and then maybe join a fire department as a paid firefighter. What do you think?

Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, received an award from Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on Wednesday.

Wakata received the award for being the first Japanese astronaut to stay in space for a prolonged period of time. He was on the International Space Station for 4 ½ months before returning to Earth on July, 31.

Wakata’s first journey to space was during the STS-72 mission of Space Shuttle Endeavour, launched on January 11, 1996. His work on I.S.S. began in October of 2000 as a Mission Specialist on the STS-92 mission of Space Shuttle Discovery to I.S.S. This assembly work prepared I.S.S. for its first resident crew.

His most recent trip to I.S.S. began as a Flight Engineer on the STS-119 mission of Space Shuttle Discovery in March of 2009. While on I.S.S, Wakata served as Flight Engineer 2 on crews Expedition 18, Expedition 19, and Expedition 20. He became the first Japanese astronaut of an I.S.S. crew. He returned home in July aboard the STS-127 mission of Space Shuttle Endeavor.

Aquél día Viernes 23 de noviembre hace 19 años atrás, llegué a la tierra, y de cierta manera era feliz, pero a medida que los años pasaban comencé a sufrir primero por cosas sencillo, con el correr del tiempo esas cosas sencillas cada vez eran más complicadas. muchas veces sufrí por quien nunca pensé hacerlo, muchas veces por gente que jamás pensé que me dañaría, pero de eso se trata la vida de varias sorpresas.

Puedo decir que la realidad, es una traidora, una perra sin escrúpulos.
Puedes juzgar a quien quieras mientras no te encuentres en esa situación, porque en el caso contrario, esperarías la comprensión de todos y cada uno de los que te rodean.

Llegué hace 19 años, y algunas cosas han cambiado, hay otras que siguen aquí y los días siguen pasando a través de mis ojos y al parecer no puedo hacer nada para remediarlo.
Si me hubiesen dado a elegir hubiese preferido nacer en otro tipo de mundo, con otro tipo de gente, pero de alguna manera soy muy feliz, pero de otra ya he llorado bastante por personas que no serían capaces de llorar ni siquiera por ellos mismos.

Podría llorar hasta que mis pulmones se reventasen, y saldría todo el humo que guardan dentro, pero no es la idea, debo seguir viviendo para reír un poco más.

Llegué hace 19 años, pero es como si hubiese llegado hace 25.

Estoy viviendo en este  mundo, estoy gastando este tiempo pensando en volar un poco más bajo, para cuando caiga, el golpe no sea tan doloroso.

Mick Boogie and Terry Urban are probably two of the most consistent, creative and relevant remixers in hip-hop at the moment.  Their releases are the thing of mixtape folklore; mixing Coldplay and Jigga, cutting the Noisettes album with 808’s & Heartbreaks or remixing the 2009 Grammy nominations.

I finally put my ears to a copy of their rework of the Adele album and it is to the regular high standards.  This is my favourite and it is just plain ridiculous.

Amb un potenciòmetre comportant-se com a divisor de tensió conectat al circuit anterior podem variar el valor C amb el potenciòmetre.

Aquesta idea no la vam aplicar a l’etapa sintonitzadora del nostre receptor regenerador perquè necessitariem un rang massa ampli de variació de C i els diodes per fer això són molt cars i per tant no és una alternativa viable.

A continuació anem al laboratori i acabem l’oscil·lador que no havíem acabat en la classe anterior ja que no estava ben muntat. Per atenuar una mica més els harmònics del generador, situem un condensador no electrolític en paral·lel amb l’electrolític però el més aprop possible del col·lector del transistor i veiem que els harmònics queden atenuats lleugerament en l’analitzador d’espectres.

A continuació muntem el circuit amb el varicap al nostre oscil·lador i el connectem en paral·lel amb el condensador variable. Observem que la freqüència d’oscil·lació disminueix però la podem controlar amb el potenciòmetre, de manera que el circuit amb el varicap funciona efectivament com un condensador variable i per tant ja tenim construit un VCO.

El següent pas és trobar la Co que caracteritza la capacitat variable del diode varicap, per fer això observem la Vr tensió en nodes del varicap, però abans de la resistència alta per no perturbar-lo i observem les freqüències d’oscil·lació amb el circuit de diode varicap connectat i desconnectat, a partir d’aqui calculem la Co. Amb una Vr = 5V, obtenim una Co = 113pF.

I moved to San Francisco from NYC about 9 months ago. I’m really still not over how many crazy people there are in this city, and the depth of the crazy that is so omnipresent. When I rant about the wackos spilling over on every sidewalk, people are shocked. “You’re from NYC, aren’t you used to it?” No, no I’m not. For those of you unaware, Giuliani shipped off all the crazy homeless people many years ago, and NYC is now a yuppie-filled Pleasantville with nary a crackhead in site. Union Square street performance in NYC consists of 15 year old hip-hop artists reenacting America’s Next Dance Crew. Union Square street performance in SF consists of a man stacking a dog, a cat and a rat on top of one another like Jenga pieces. Shit is weird out here.
I digress. I have started this blog to vent about the crazy things I see on my morning and evening bus ride on the #19 Muni, a delightful and colorful bus ride that takes me from Russian Hill (land of Starbucks & Lulu Lemon), through the Tenderloin (reminiscent of The Wire’s Hamsterdam), and finally through SOMA where I depart (healthy mix of sex stores and meth clinics). Instead of bothering my coworkers every morning with “Oh my god you will not believe what happened on my bus ride today” I figured this would be a good forum for my tales of crazy.
I’ll christen my blog with one of my very first bus ride stories:
Hopped on the bus a bit late, probably around 8:30ish. Bus was looking a bit packed for a Monday morning, so I was forced to go stand in the back. The stench of urine and trash in my 1 foot radius was a bit overpowering, so when I spotted a free seat I immediately lunged for it, likely knocking a small Asian woman out of the way George Castanza style. Alas, this seat was no refuge. Turning to my right, I noticed a kid about 21 or so in dirt covered skater clothes, the missing junkie member of Blink 182 perhaps. Face covered in blood! Dear god. No one else on the bus seems to notice or care. Unfortunately there is no room to get up, so I vow to get off at the next stop. Feel like I’m going to gag, but turn to my left hoping to escape with a more pleasant visual. There is an older man talking to himself, which I’ll take any day over a blood covered drug addict. Looking a bit closer I realize he is not alone, as there is a giant white rat in his coat pocket. He is about a half an inch away from the rat’s twitching nose, passionately engaged in conversation, occasionally calling the rat “sister.” Our eyes meet, he does not look pleased to have an onlooker observing. Vision of the rat lunging at me to defend his companion, little claws ready to be imbedded in my cheek, thrusting me back into the bloody arms of the junkie. It’s too much! The $5 cab is worth the preservation of my life. I immediately leap out at Polk and O’Farrell.

Chivalry

By REQUEST, I will begin to express my dearest opinions towards this topic.

A dead, well, dying stereotypical characteristic… It mainly depends on how you interpret what the notion of ‘chivalry’ actually is. It can be seen through a person living in the 18th, 19th or 20th century OR even back in the ancient society.

Ill express these different classifications of the ways people express the attitude, ‘chivalry’ through chronological order of events in history.

But I’ll start with modern day. In this contemporary age, the basic definition of ‘chivalry’ is ‘a courtesy towards women’. In relation, when one opens a door for a woman, it is classified as a characteristic of ‘chivalry’. This is not the case in this day and age. I may not speak for the whole of society as interpretations differ, the minds of every person is unique and so, I cannot clarify a general interpretation of ‘chivalry’, however, I can clarify for you, ‘MY’ interpretation of chivalry.

I believe that idea that to call someone ‘mistress’ is a dying custom and that only very few continue to use it. I also believe that sliding out a chair for a girl is ‘pussy’ and only gives a feeling for ‘awkwanoia’ (conrad’s made up word) between the two. However, I certainly believe that chivalry has developed to become accustomed to today’s traditions. Now, the characteristics of chivalry are to tend to a girl if they request for assistance, to compliment and to even buy a drink for.

I also should not deny the fact that modern feminism has influenced that notion of chivalry.

Sadly, chivalry is a topic too broad to clarify, but that does not mean I cannot compare it to past societies.

In the ancient society, chivalry was to call the women, ‘mistress, provide them with first serves of food, gifts for special events (marriage)’ this information can been gathered from archaeological evidence. In the 18th century, chivalry was to open the door for a woman, bow, hold their hand to walk. In the 19th century, chivalry was to basically to provide them with more equality, to allow them better education, job opportunities.

Ill end with my comment, ‘Chivalry is a characteristic that is influenced throughout the times, it is not uniform and will vary between different cultures, minds, ages and genders. Hence, it is a topic too broad too comprehend as vast amounts of information is required to clarify its notions’. I do not have time to write a book about it, but I will leave it as a definition that is undefinable due to its inability to be uniform.

I repeat, this was a request. From now on, I will only post opinions that will definitely be answered.

我第一次注意蔡旻佑，是他的第一張專輯《19》的一首歌：《翻不完的夏天》。（噢抱歉我并沒有去留意派臺強打的《我可以》，太商業化了！）清楚記得是因為歌曲的英式輕搖滾曲風，我這個想來不好重金屬搖滾的人聽了，就愛上。那年他才19歲，青春無敵，專輯銷量也慘不忍睹。之后消失了兩年吧，然后就高唱《我回來了》，那時候我再次看到了稍微長大的蔡旻佑。

《寂寞，好了》很有概念。還是再賣青春，但是不再是無敵的可愛，而是一嘗愛情煎熬的滋味，為青春的寂寞吶喊。看著專輯文案的主題：【我們習慣了熱鬧卻不太習慣寂寞；我們接受了長大卻開始想念昨天。】，你說，你是不是有共鳴？

《寂寞，好了》再次有 Malaysia Boleh 精神，作曲的是彭學斌；作詞的是張天成。寂寞好了，詞寫得很白話，很時尚年輕的味道和感覺。尤其是那段“多假 多假 多假”，我相信所有有意對號入座的人都會很有共鳴；即便無意對號入座的，也被安排了“多假”的席位了吧… 我聽了好幾遍，細細揣摩歌詞含義。深夜聽，很是感觸。高唱寂寞好了，但其實寂寞原來在心頭徘徊不去。寂寞真的好了嗎？這是情人自說自話的表現啊。

蔡旻佑一直有一把好聽的聲音，但是一個歌手的因緣也很重要。就像林志炫，走了多年依舊叫好不叫座；蔡旻佑是否能夠走出屬于自己的歌唱大道？還是只能繼續小眾下去，這個很令人期待。有創作才華；有唱將功力，至少站出來比起一般的一片歌手或緋聞歌手來得好。

專輯里頭另外一首甜蜜曲風的《小乖乖》也很棒。是商業了點，但是青春男聲演繹的，不乖都不行。

如今好的年輕歌者難找，有一個蔡旻佑，其實也很不錯了。希望整合整個市場包裝攻略，蔡旻佑可以走得更遠。

p/s：聽《寂寞，好了》一定要看 MV。沒有什么特別，只是畫面的張力很感慨。

new tire trims are in, you can have white wall any type of tire you wish. some dreams will come true. colorful dreams, will come to life. more colors on the way. for now a variety in the 18″ size and all the 17″ white walls you could want. thin, fat, wide, trim, yellow, 16″, 19″!! for mopeds, yes. for motorcycles, yeah and giant moped and other two wheeled creations.

I can see why a lot of people might find the trek to Langer’s a bit unnerving. It’s just one block from the parking lot to the actual restaurant, but you have to share that one block of sidewalk with a lot of brown people from South America. It’s located in a “shady” area of LA; 7^th and Alvarado, kitty-corner from McArthur Park.  I tried to convince my lunch companions (native Angeleno brown girls themselves) that they were safe by pointing out that even though there wasn’t an immigrant rights march going on at the moment, the LAPD was always near looking and ready for opportunities to beat up or shoot someone.

I have driven past Langer’s many times since I moved to Los Angeles, but it wasn’t until last week that I found out it was a local and international icon. As soon as I saw the classic diner décor of 70’s-brown pleather booths, counter stools, fake wood tables, light fixtures with old beige lamp shades, and crunchy, sticky floor, I knew the food was going to be really good.

We managed to get there before the lunch rush, so we scored a booth. I did not spend too much time reading the menu. I was there for the notorious #19. The #19 is Langer’s best seller and it’s what everyone who isn’t a pastrami sandwich (bread and meat with a dab of mustard) purist orders. The #19 is pastrami on rye with a slice of Swiss cheese, coleslaw, and Russian dressing. When it comes to food, mob mentality rules and I wasn’t there to be a dissident. I ordered the #19 and a cream soda.

What was put in front of me was simply brilliant. There is no better word to describe it. I bit into the deliciously smoked pile of lunch meat, and was immediately transported into a different dimension of Sandwich Nirvana. I was home. Langer’s pastrami is perfectly cooked, sugar cured and peppered, and slightly fattier to give it more good flavor during the smoking and steaming process. The hand-carved, thick pile of meat is encased within a tender rye with a crackling crust that’s easy on the mouth and is accompanied by two pickle halves. Definitely one for the Best Things I Ever Ate file.

Because feeling privileged makes me uncomfortable and sad, I immediately thought about the people out on the street. Here was something utterly delicious, so close to them, but so far from their grasp. The people who work and live in this neighborhood cannot afford to eat much beyond the dollar menu, let alone a $14 sandwich.

Many claim that Langer’s pastrami sandwich is the best in the world. I haven’t been to Katz or any other legendary New York deli, but it’s hard to imagine any other sandwich beating the  #19. I had finally arrived at my pastrami Mecca and it was only 4 miles from my house. I unburied my face from the sandwich and took a moment to tell my companions, “I’ll have this over French Laundry any day.” They gasped. Oh the sacrilege. “Don’t tell that to your sister!” they replied. “It’s ok. She already got miffed at me for liking the Chez Panisse experience better than French.”

I decided two weeks is long enough a wait to eat another #19. I won’t even have to park and walk along 7^th. Langer’s has curbside service and I’ve already saved their number in my cell phone contacts.
