<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>&#8220;Burma Road&#8221; (1962) was a low budget movie starring Ashok Kumar, Sheikh Mukhtaar, Kumkum etc. Movie may be a low budget and therefore B grade, but its music was A grade.</p>
<p>Here is a superb song from this movie. It is sung by Lata and Talat Mehmood. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Chitragupta composed the music. Looking at the picturisation, I can identify the lady as Kumkum, but I am unable to identify the gentleman. He does not look like Ashok Kumar or Sheikh Mukhtaar. Any idea who he could be ?</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>There are songs with similar opening lines in &#8220;Ziddi&#8221; (1948) and in &#8220;Private Secretary&#8221; (1962). Both these songs are sung by Lata and both are superb songs.<br />

I was not familar with the &#8220;Chandaa jaa&#8221; song of &#8220;Manmauji&#8221; (1962). I became aware of this song only because of farmaish of this song by Lalitha. When I searched for this song and listened to it, I was awestruck. </p>
<p>This song too is sung by Lata. She has sung it beautifully. Rajinder Krishan&#8217;s lyrics are superb, as always. In fact, in my opinion, he was perhaps the most versatile lyricist of that era, who could write superb songs on any genre.</p>
<p>What what does one say about Madan Mohan ! In this same movie, he came up with the music of &#8220;Zaroorat hai zaroorat hai&#8221; and &#8220;main to tum sang nain milaake&#8221;. And then this song !</p>
<p>What creative geniuses we had those days. </p>
<p>And I have not yet talked about the picturisation. The song is picturised beautifully on Sadhana and Kishore Kumar. sadhana is singing about her love in private, certain that she is alone. But Kishore Kumar is also there, eavesdropping on her.</p>
<p>It is a very nice and beautifully picturised song. They do not make songs like this now a days.</p>

<p><em>Sunt aici cu Camil la munte, numai noi doi și nu pot să&#8217;mi crez ochilor de atâta fericire. Știi bine că nu&#8217;mi prea place la munte de obicei că este aerul cesta parcă prea rarefiat, de m&#8217;apucă tusea una-două de sensibilă ce sunt. <!--more-->Dar acum stau și mă uit la Camil cum vorbește despre călătorii la capătul lumii astea pe care o știm noi, până la linia orizontului zice el. Și în spatele lui sunt munții, văile, cerul, totul de așa o frumusețe, tu, Leano că mă impresionează până la lacrimi.</em></p>
<p><em>Nu credeam că o să mai iubesc vreodat după ce îl pierdui pe Bebe în circunstanțele acelea tragice de care nu voi mai pomeni, dar iată că s&#8217;a ivit Camil și sunt din nou ferice precum numai în cărți citești. Te salută și el, deși știe că ești neîncrezătoare în ceea ce îl privește. Îmi povestește toate cele, de l&#8217;ascult cu gura căscată. Tatăl lui a fost prieten bun cu Petre Cristea, de care tu probabil că nu știi mai nimic,  bleguțo, dar a fost campion mondial la mașini la Montecarlo, în 1936 și tatăl lui Camil l&#8217;a cunoscut la Luna Sporturilor chiar aici la Sinaia. Da nici noi nici Camil nu eram născute pe atunci, erau alte vremi. </em></p>
<p><em>Te las, că trebuie să mergem în vizită la stațiunea zoologică, unde iară știe Camil al meu pe cineva de vază și vrea să mă prezinte. </em></p>

Cartea după care e făcut filmul a fost întotdeauna pentru mine o metaforă a vinovăţiei fără obiect; a vieţii trăită cu sentimentul culpabilităţii, însă fără a ştii <em>de ce</em>; a lumii în care trăim şi în care suntem cu toţii inculpaţi pentru a fi controlaţi <em>cu folos</em>.</p>
<p>Când am citit pentru prima dată <em>În faţa legii</em>, am simţit că am înţeles, în acelaşi timp, totul şi nimic. Exact la fel se întâmplă şi cu Legea. Legea dă speranţă, dar în acelaşi timp o ia, oferă siguranţă, dar în acelaşi timp ne lasă singuri, faţă în faţă cu ea, cu propria noastră conştiinţă vinovată, că doar <em>trebuie</em> să ne simţim la tot pasul vinovaţi, numai aşa Marele Sistem poate face din noi ce vrea, cum vrea, când vrea&#8230;</p>
<p>Dacă am fi lăsaţi <em>în lege</em> ar dispărea vinovăţia. Fără vinovăţie nu există control.</p>

<p>În faţa legii stă un păzitor. La acest păzitor, vine un om de la ţară şi cere voie să intre în lege. Dar păzitorul îi spune că acum nu-i poate permite să intre. Omul chibzuieşte şi apoi întreabă dacă va avea voie să intre mai tîrziu. „Tot ce se poate, spune paznicul, dar acum nu.&#8221; întrucît poarta legii este deschisă ca întotdeauna, iar păzitorul se dă într-o parte, omul se apleacă pentru a privi pe uşă în interior. Cînd păzitorul observă asta, rîde şi spune : „Dacă te ispiteşte într-atît, încearcă să intri înăuntru, în ciuda interdicţiei mele. Bagă însă de seamă : am putere. Şi nu sînt decît păzitorul cel mai de jos. La intrarea în fie­care sală stau, însă, alţi păzitori, unul mai puter­nic decît altul. Pe al treilea nu mai pot nici măcar eu să-l privesc.&#8221; La asemenea dificultăţi nu se aşteptase omul de la ţară; că doar legea trebuie să fie totdeauna şi oricui la îndemînă, îşi zice el; dar, acum, cînd priveşte mai bine la păzitorul îmbrăcat cu şubă, la nasul lui mare şi ascuţit, la barba lui tătărască răsfirată şi neagră, se hotărăşte totuşi, mai bine să aştepte pînă ce i se va îngădui să intre. Păzitorul îi dă un scăunel şi-i spuse să şadă lingă uşă, de-o parte. Acolo stă zile şi ani în şir. Mai face multe încercări de-a fi lăsat înăuntru şi-l oboseşte pe păzitor cu insistenţele sale.   Adeseori    păzitorul  îl supune  la mici interogaitorii, îl întreabă de unde e de fel şi multe altele, dar sînt întrebări puse doar de cum  pun  domnii  cei  mari ;  iar la urmă îi spune tot mereu că încă nu-i poate da drumul înăuntru. Omul, care-şi luase multe lucruri cu el la drum, foloseşte totul, oricît ar fi fost de preţios, pentru a-l mitui pe portar. Acesta e drept că primeşte tot ce i se dă, dar spune de fiecare dată: „Primesc numai ca să nu crezi cumva că n-ai făcut tot ce-ar fi fost cu putinţă.&#8221; De-a lungul nenumăraţilor  ani,   omul   îl observă  pe păzitor aproape fără întrerupere. Uită de ceilalţi păzitori, şi acesta, primul, îi apare ca singurul obstacol care-l împiedică sa intre în lege. Blestemă nefericita întâmplare, în primii ani cu glas tare şi fără să ţină seama de nimic, mai tîrziu, pe măsură ce  îmbătrîneşte,  doar  mormăind în barbă pentru sine. Dă tot mai mult în mintea copiilor şi, de vreme  ce  de-a  lungul  anilor  a ajuns să-i  cunoască păzitorului pînă şi  purecii din gulerul şubei, se roagă şi de pureci să-l ajute al îndupleca. într-un tîrziu, vederea îi slăbeşte şi nu mai ştie dacă in jurul lui se face cu adevărat tot mai întuneric sau dacă îl înşală doar ochii. Dar distinge acum prin întuneric o strălucire nestinsă care răzbate pe uşa legii. Numai că nu mai apucă să trăiască mult. În preajma morţii, toată experienţa din acest răstimp se<sub> </sub>adună într-o întrebare, pe care încă n-a apucat s-o pună păzitorului. Îi face semn să vină mai aproape, întrucît nu-şi mai poate ridica în sus trupul care a început să se înţepenească. Păzito­rul trebuie să se aplece adînc, pînă la el, întrucît diferenţa de înălţime s-a schimbat mult în defavoarea omului. „Acu ce mai vrei să ştii? întreabă păzitorul, nu te mai saturi o dată.&#8221; „Toţi se străduiesc, vezi bine, să afle ce-i legea, grăieşte omul, cum se face atunci că, în atîta amar de ani, n-a mai cerut nimeni, în afară de mine, să intre înăuntru ?&#8221; Păzitorul îşi dă seama că sfîrşitul omului e aproape şi, pentru a mai răzbi pînă la auzul lui care se stinge, răcneşte la el: „Pe aici nu putea obţine să intre nimeni altul, întrucît intrarea asta ţi-era hărăzită doar ţie. Acum mă duc s-o închid.&#8221;</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Poucas equipes nacionais tiveram o privilégio de defender a Seleção Brasileira e um destes times foi o Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. Isso aconteceu em 16 de novembro de 1965, e o adversário eram os ingleses do Arsenal. Mas talvez, não tenham escolhido a melhor do time paulista para este jogo, já que o Brasil fora derrotado: 2 a 0.</p>
<p>A partida aconteceu em Londres, no lendário estádio Highbury e além da fase corintiana ser terrível (atravessava um jejum de títulos que já durava 11 anos e ainda tinha mais 12 por vir), a fase brasileira já não era tão boa. O País vivia uma transição de gerações e por isso, mais tarde, não se deu muito bem na Copa do Mundo, disputada justamente na Inglaterra, e vencida pelos donos da casa.</p>
<p>Porém, o Arsenal que enfrentou o Corinthians travestido de Seleção Brasileira pouco auxiliou nessa conquista no que se refere à cessão de jogadores para a sua seleção. Dos 22 ingleses que fizeram história, apenas um era do Arsenal, ou atuou nessa partida de 65, o atacante George Eastham, que também nem entrou em campo no mundial.</p>
<p>Para fazer a partida o Corinthians sofreu muito com a mudança climática. Dois dias antes, havia sido derrotado pelo Santos, por 4 a 2, jogando sob um sol de 30º. Saiu de São Paulo para jogar na Europa com a incrível temperatura de -3 graus abaixo de zero. Para piorar, a camisa azul da Seleção Brasileira tinha mangas curtas.</p>
<p>Mesmo assim, os relatos contam que o time comandado por Osvaldo Brandão e que contava com o jovem Rivellino, de 19 anos, além de Edson Cegonha, Dino Sani e Flávio, entre outros, suportou bem a partida no primeiro tempo, que terminou empatado sem gols. Na segunda etapa, porém, Sammels marcou duas vezes e decretou o resultado da partida.</p>
<p>Poucos meses antes, quem representou a seleção foi o Palmeiras, na inauguração do estádio do Mineirão. Time com notória qualidade à época, o clube paulista não deu chances para os uruguaios, ao vencer a seleção daquele País, por 3 a 0. Três anos mais tarde, foi a vez do Atlético Mineiro, já com a base do time que seria campeão brasileiro em 1971, vencer a Iugoslávia, por 3 a 2.</p>

When a club represented Brazil</p>
<p>Not many clubs had the chance to play with the Seleção colours, one of those cases was Sport Club Corinthians Paulista in 1965. The adversary on a 16th of November that year were The Gunners, playing in London, at the legendary Highbury Stadium.</p>
<p>The Brazilian team, and Corithians, were not in the best years, altougth Brazil won a second title in 1962, it was time to rebuild the team and they never got to the 1966 World Cup with real chances. Corinthians was in a drougth that lasted until 1977 without titles. Arsenal was not a big team back then, just giving striker Eastham to the English Team that won in 1966. </p>
<p>Corinthians had a problem with the weather uppon arriving in England, they left a sunny 30º São Paulo to arrive in London with -3º, and they had to play in short sleeves, as that was the only option available.</p>
<p>With all those dificulties the Brazilians managed to tie the forst half. Rivellino was a young promess of the club, Edson Cegonha, Dino Sani and Flavio were other notables. At the second half however Sammels scored twice to seal the home owners win.</p>
<p>A few months back Palmeiras had the chance to play in Brazilian clothes, They had a great team and defeated Uruguay with three goals. In 1971 Atlético Mineiro won Yugoslavians by 3 to 2.</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">This story shows how Louise eventually came out of her sister June&#8217;s shadow and ends up becoming a burlesque dancer and thus chances her name to Gypsy Rose Lee. Throughout the story we see how much impact Mama Rose had on the lives of her daughters. Obsessed with them becoming famous and performing in front of people. She really had to be the worst nightmare of a stage mother, but it was evident that she did care a lot about her daughters.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">Mama Rose has to be the ultimate stage mother, the one which you would not want to be yours at all. She is bossy, always in control and her daughters do not actually know how old they are! She is so desperate for them to have the success and life that she did not have that she will pretty much do anything for them to get it. She has been married three times, and Herbie wants to marry her but she is not so sure about it. He actually does care about her and the children.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">This really is a fantastic musical, as it has some very powerful numbers. Including &#8220;Everything&#8217;s Coming Up Roses&#8221;, &#8220;Some People&#8221;, &#8220;Gotta Have a Gimmick&#8221; and the simply fantastic &#8220;Rose&#8217;s Turn&#8221; when Mama Rose eventually gets her number. It is on an empty stage and so powerful because she eventually lets everything out showing how much she longed to be on the stage. I have to admit that I do love &#8220;You Gotta Get a Gimmick&#8221; when the strippers are explaining to Louise you have not got to have talent, you have just got to have a Gimmick.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">Eventually seeing Louise become the famous Gypsy Rose Lee is a special moment as throughout the film you have been lead to believe that she has no talent and cannot really do anything on the stage. She really wants to prove her mother wrong and go out there and do something, being the best at it. &#8220;Let Me Entertain You&#8221; is what she sings while stripping . . . well taking a glove off. Thats her gimmick she does not totally strip, more like teasing.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">I thought Rosalind Russell as Mama Rose was a very good performance. She was very believable and has a fantastic singing voice. Especially for &#8220;Rose&#8217;s Turn&#8221; the power in her performance is shown in that song, wanting to have her time on stage and impress. I just love how passionate she is with it all, I also love that in that song she has to say &#8220;curtains up&#8221; as she is telling how she sees her performance going.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">Natalie Wood is just fantastic as Louise then Gypsy Rose Lee. As Wood is so beautiful she has the naive charm going for her and plays the unlikely stripper ever so brilliantly.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;">It does have some very amusing moments throughout as well as heart warming but also quite dramatic moments. I really do think its a very good all round musical, with something for everyone.</p>

<p>Österrikaren Jules (<strong>Oskar Werner</strong>) och fransmannen Jim (<strong>Henri Serre</strong>) är bästa vänner och de delar allt. De förälskar sig till och med i samma kvinna: Catherine (<strong>Jeanne Moreau</strong>). Jules blir den som gifter sig med henne. Men efter andra världskriget &#8211; där de två männen strider på olika sidor &#8211; så kommer Jim och flyttar in hos Jules och Catherine. Det gifta paret har nu barn men de verkar inte så lyckliga och Catherine är otrogen med många olika män. Hon försöker även förföra Jim, vilket lyckas. När Jules inser att han håller på att förlora Catherine ber han Jim att gifta sig med henne så att de alla tre kan fortsätta umgås och ha hand om barnet tillsammans. Men Catherine verkar bli mer och mer psykiskt instabil och krävande&#8230;</p>
<p>En väldigt intressant polyrelation. Jag skulle inte kalla Jules och Jims relation som homo<em>erotisk</em> på något sätt, men de älskar varandra väldigt mycket och de tävlar inte <em>mot</em> varandra om kvinnan.   Sen är ju inte allt happy happy heller, men det är en klassisk film som man kanske borde se någon gång.</p>

Jules e Jim sono due amici di vecchia data che incontrano sulla loro strada l&#8217;affascinante e libera Catherine, i tre diventano inseparabili e presto l&#8217;amicizia si trasforma in amore e il gruppo è coinvolto in un triangolo amoroso senza via d&#8217;uscita. L&#8217;impossibilità di trovare una logica ai rapporti umani è forse proprio la bellezza dei rapporti umani contro ogni regola sociale ma in maniera naturale e mai prevedibile.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Un film romantico di un romanticismo non scontato, un vortice di amicizia e amore che non cerca una spiegazione ma è così e basta. Chiaro come questo film fece scalpore al tempo e fu quasi censurato (come spesso ancora accade ed è accaduto) in Italia benchè oggi ,invece, nessuno si sorprenderebbe più eppure qui non si parla di relazioni torbide, di rapporti nascosti o di infedeltà come oggi avviene nel mondo reale qui tutto si svolge alla luce del giorno, tutto è chiaro e i due amici sono consapevolmente vittime della giostra della vita.</p>

<p>In the late 1950s, Ford identified the need for an all-new family car. Although tempted by BMCs mini-car concept, which had taken the motoring world by storm, their engineers took a very conscious decision not to try and emulate this, but instead to build a reliable roomy car at a low price &#8211; the Ford Cortina. The only car that Ford launched in 1962, it was a design that went on to become the benchmark for family and business motoring for the next two decades.</p>

<p>The Mk 1 was launched in September 1962 with just one engine size of 1,195cc. The initial production of only 20,000 also carried a Consul bonnet badge. By January 1963, a 1,500cc-engined model was available with larger brakes and chome body strip embellishments. With prices including purchase-tax of £639 for the 2-door standard model and £666 10s 3d, for the deluxe model, Cortina soon became Ford&#8217;s most important car range, sweeping all competition aside to become Britain&#8217;s best selling car.</p>
