Wanna’ be in? Get Low. Every time we watch hip hop movies/music videos, low rider vehicles and hydraulics are always on the scene. Well, that is actually common to hip hop culture. Basically the low rider is a type of ride equipped with a modified suspension system or sometimes with a hydraulic suspension to ride as low to the ground as possible. Vehicles used as “low riders” are the classic ones like those from the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s. These vehicles are subjected to comprehensive make over to make them look new. They are also installed with user controlled height adjustable suspension – is an automobile suspension system feature that allows the driver to adjust or vary the ground clearance or the ride height and this requires meticulous engineering. The adjustment of height is frequently achieved through an oil or air compression utilized for vehicle springs; hence, every time the pressure is diverse, eventually, the body of the vehicle rises or lowers.

Unfortunately, low rider’s internal components are very susceptible; they were likely taking any damage from any form of obstructions or flaws on road surface.

Originally, Low riders were introduced by the Chicano’s or our Mexican-American brothers. It sprouted from the streets of San Diego County, California and became an important part of the Latino culture. And starting from the 90’s, low riders became common to the urban youth culture, primarily the West Coast hip hop. Now, “low riding” is varied with many different cultures, vehicle makes as well as visual styles. In Asia, it is common in Japan.
