Contratto tra Novartis e il Ministero del Lavoro, della Salute e delle Politiche Sociali per la fornitura del vaccino Focetria contro la pandemia A/H1N1

Una delle clausole del contratto – che, ricordiamoci sempre, concede a Novartis l’immunità legale per le cause di risarcimento danni -  era che lo stesso rimanesse riservato:

Per “informazioni riservate” si intende (i) qualsiasi tipo di informazioni verbali, visive o scritte concernenti il Prodotto o le attività commerciali della controparte inviate da una Parte all’altra in conformità, osservanza o nel rispetto delle disposizioni del Contrattto o da essa altrimenti ottenute a prescindere dal fatto che la natura riservata di tali informazioni fosse stata espressamente indicata o meno), e (ii) l’esistenza e i termini del Contratto.

Bene: adesso sappiamo (io che scrivo e voi che leggete) sia dell’esistenza del contratto, che dei suoi termini. E ora, che fare?

What to make of it?

On one hand it’s a good time to forget his controversial side and focus on “RIP” but I don’t think it would serve any useful purpose.

There’s a lot to be learned from his life and death.

Politically speaking he was a very very unpleasant fellow with absolute disregard for freedoms and even human lives, not to mention the media. It was less than two years ago when he declared with a straight face that only one person died during 1976 massacre to which he personally contributed by rallying the mobs against the commies.

In a one dimensional world he’d be served nothing but condemnation for this, but I believe there’s more to this story.

Take the media. He made a career and a name for himself as a journalist and even once owned a newspaper. I believe he knew how media works a lot better than any of us, internet critics. We believe in unbiased reporting and some abstract “truth”, from Samak’s point of view none of that exists and media and journos are dirven by their own agendas, and I find it hard to disagree.

If he didn’t give them as much respect as we expect it was probably because he knew how much respect they deserved exactly. In my opinion CNN deserves to be lied and manipulated, for example. They accept it when it suits their editorial line, why protest when someone lies to them about something they don’t like?

When Samak was shouting at some female reporter from Al Jazeera we saw him attack the press, Samak probably saw a young and ignorant faceless upstart biting a lot more than she could chew just because she was sent there by an “important” news agency. Samak probably didn’t want to talk unless she was “properly introduced”, and I believe should would have behaved differently, too.

Samak lived in a world where everybody was connected and related to everybody else and no one was allowed to pretend any independence. In that sense I can easily trace my own connection to Samak, either via my family or my work. It would be just a few steps before he would say: “Ok, enough, now I know who you are.” My Internet persona is something different, though.

If I talked to Samak as StanG who writes this blog, he’d probably skip on that and asked for my real identity instead, and then tried to reconcile what I write here and what I would say in real life. I would have some real explaining to do, if he even paused to listen, and I think it’s fair and I wouldn’t blame him for that or for whatever unflattering words he’d chose for me.

Reconciling his involvement in 1976 is a lot more difficult, but I believe it deserves an attempt, too. Why? I never had any positive thoughts for those mobs and the police that let them on a mad rampage on that day, but one short blurb in The Nation’s report on Samak’s last moments made me puzzled about this:

“..Samak’s relatives had no idea the end was near until the patient deliriously remarked about angels surrounding his hospital bed..”

There’s no chance he was visited by angels if his 1976 exploits were not somehow forgiven. Of course you could simply refuse to talk about any angels at all and stop reading right here, but let’s assume that there were indeed angles and not demons surrounding his deathbed, and he wasn’t taken to one of the numerous buddhist hells but to some heavenly planet with lots of cats and heaps of noodles and unrivaled fresh produce.

That’s what forced be stop and think of possibilities. Maybe he was just doing his job, like an executioner who doesn’t go to hell for chopping people’s heads off. Or maybe he sincerely felt it was the right thing to do, and maybe he was somehow right.

Like with media example, we approach those events from a certain angle, in our universe October 1976 is universally condemned. For Samak, however, and the rest of the Thai society, it wasn’t a black and white affair as it is portrayed to us in popular history. There were real people involved in it, with real aspirations and feelings, sharing some and diverging in other areas.

Prapas-Thanom regime overthrown in student uprising in 1973 is viewed extremely negatively, too, but just a few years earlier it was perfectly acceptable and there was nothing major to complain about, judging by former British ambassador letter. On page 5 Thanom is described as “benevolent, accomodating, cautious, not spectacularly rich” and carries “general goodwill”. Compare this to how he is viewed now on wikipedia – it’s as if they are describing a different person.

Something happened in those three years between 1973 and 1976 that turned public opinion in a completely opposite direction. So far I’ve heard only the student side of the story, the “prosecution”. I’ve yet to see “defense” arguments. I think it’s quite plausible that Samak’s role in those event shouldn’t be demonized, as I myself have done in the past. It is unacceptable now, but in those days, over thirty years ago, it could have looked entirely different and, perhaps, the judgment should be reserved until more information is available.

And then there’s human side of Samak, and it was almost universally adored, there seems to be a consensus that he was everybody’s favorite uncle. I have no doubts that he was a devout Buddhist, exemplary in his behavior and thoughts. I’m pretty sure that it was this side of his life that earned him a visit from the angels, if it ever happened. Even his harsh speech was admired by many, if only for his skill and presentation. While some wanted to sensor his weekly radio program for inappropriate language, others were apparently glued to their radios, trying to learn: “His Sunday talks when he was prime minister, on the Thai language, history and culture, was a weekly enjoyment as I could close my ears to his political views.” – from a letter by Songdej Praditsmanont.

At the end of the day, many of his political enemies would pay him their last respects on his funeral. Newin, who blocked his return to PMship last year and later defected to join Democrats, went to Samak’s bathing rights already. He was duly booed by some reds, as were Democrats themselves, even though Newin cannot be really called Samak’s protagonist.

Samak started his political career in Democrat party, btw. Of course it was a different outfit than it is now but it’s an interesting factoid to reflect on.

I wish I could conclude by saying customary RIP, but, I think Samak wouldn’t have cared even a little about that. He never wanted any reconciliation with his “enemies”, he never felt the need to apologize for any of the things he is accused of, so I don’t think extending that unwarranted forgiveness is necessary, as in “Samak, we forgive you, RIP”. Crap.

I’d rather ask for his blessings instead, he doesn’t need any of mine.

Playboy’s Miss November 1976, the lovely and talented Patti McGuire, was also Playmate of the Year in 1977, and is famous in the Playboy world for two things; first, for being being to Hef’s right/the viewer’s left on the Playboy Pinball Machine backglass, and second, for being the cover model and centerfold in the issue where Jimmy Carter was interviewed.

It is the only issue in the history of the magazine to feature an interview with a presidential candidate — and of course, after only being on the stands about a week, he won the election. So now it is the only issue with a president interviewed in its pages. In the course of his profile and interview with Robert Scheer, Carter admitted,

a remark that has haunted his political career as jeers from the shadows which kind of besmirch all the awesome charity work he and his wife do with Habitat for Humanity. Yes, because he is the only person ever to have windowshopped. I think it is admirable he was open and humble about it. Excuse a dude for being honest.

Patti McGuire had some opinions about fidelity and affairs as well, but they were not quite in the same spirit of confession, self-improvement, and the difficulty of faithful loving as President Carter’s:

In discussing relationships, she admitted that she believed in a “reverse double” standard. She wanted to be free to explore casual affairs, but her man had to be faithful. Could she be more specific?

“Well, have you ever seen the original uncut version of King Kong? When Kong first meets Fay Wray, he peels off her clothes, fondles her and then sniffs his fingers. Later, when he’s climbing the Empire State Building, he reaches through a window and grabs a blonde. He sniffs her and, realizing that she is not his beloved, casually tosses her some 50 stories to her death. That’s my idea of a faithful lover.” (“Missouri Breaker,” Playboy, November 1976)

Patti married tennis star Jimmy Connors in 1978 and they are still together, so apparently he either cured her double standard or overlooks it. They have two children, according to the wiki. No word on if he ever threw anyone off a building for her, but obviously he is doing something right if they’ve been married thirty-one years.

These days, Patti travels and does public appearances with other playmates, and devotes her time to her husband and children. In the above picture, she is at the Chicago Glamourcon in 2009, posing with the famous Pinball Machine. She was recently featured on a site called goodplasticsurgery.com, who pointed out that her face still looks like her own, despite that, given her age, she has probably had light work done. I agree. She’s looking well. I think it’s because she’s lived a good, happy life. What more can any of us ask for!

Ordet aktivist är ett intressant ord, eftersom det symboliserar en person som är en underhuggare och som uttnyttjas utav mer smarta och i vissa fall seriösa personer som sitter högre upp i samma falang, så att säga.

Sedan finns det många olika sorters aktivister, t ex miljöaktivister, djurrättsaktivister och vänsteraktivister. De två sistnämnda är varken demokratiska eller seriösa, ett exempel på detta skedde igår då c:a 50 idiotiska antidemokrater till vänsteraktivister försökte sabotera ett möte i Vellinge anordnat utav SDU, alltså Sverigedemokratisk Ungdom.

Deras försök, bl a via äggkastning och skrik av alla de slag, hade dock ingen effekt. Det finns nämligen saker som poliser, högtalare och volymknappar på högtalare.

När det gäller djurrättsaktivister så tycker jag att de är bra, bortsett ifrån de handlingar som de gör och begår. Om de bara lade av med dessa så skulle de komma längre, detsamma gäller vänsteraktivister.

Men detta fattar utav någon anledning inte dessa båda grupperingar, vilket säger ganska mycket om deras bångstyrighet och låga IQ. De bete’r sig enkelt uttryckt värre än t ex en stenkåt bisonoxetjur, vars hormonaktivitet har spårat ur så mycket att han är en fara för alla människor som råkar befinna sig i de marker som han befinner sig i.

Nu menar jag inte att vänsteraktivister och djurrättsaktivister utnyttjar djur sexuellt, t ex kor och katter, även om många utav dem verkar ha gjort det minst några gånger för mycket.

Detta kan i så fall förklara deras bete’ende vid t ex motdemonstatrationer, de är “översexuella” i en något konstig bemärkelse så att säga.

Motdemonstrationer och motdemonstrationer förresten, -Det är ju bara ett jävla bröl, som Brasse Brännström sade i sketchen “Fiolen min” ifrån 1976. Man skulle kunna tro att vänsteraktivister är kåta på sverigedemokrater och för övrigt alla som dessa aktivister är emot.

Snacka om att de är ruskigt osäkra på sig själva, det är de ju av allt att döma ändå förresten.

GQ – Disco Nights

En av mina trognaste bloggbesökare, Dick, kom med ett riktigt Scoop i kommentarerna till ett tidigare inlägg med TS Monk. Låten med GQ känner nog de flesta, som har lite koll på gammal disco, igen. Vad jag inte visste men som Dick upplyste mig om är att delar av GQ tidigare spelade under namnet Rhythm Makers och 1976, dvs två år innan GQ släppte Disco Nights, spelade de in följande spår.

Känns lite som man hört det förut, eller hur! Finns iofs fler liknande fall i musikhistorien men sällan något som är så extremt tydligt. Det närmaste jag kan komma på är när Fresh Band ohämmat lånade från Slaves Just A Touch Of Love till sin Come Back Lover. Fast då var det ju inte så att det var samma killar som gjorde en remake utan ett gäng som lånade ett tema från en uttans bra låt. Hade upp detta exempel i ett inlägg för nåt år sen som finns att läsa på bloggen för den som är intresserad.

Vill i alla fall tacka Dick för all input jag får genom hans kommentarer. Det sporrar en att få lite tips och inspiration, då lixom lyfter man sig ett snäpp och försöker skriva om sådant som är lite intressant och har en historia. Annars skulle det ju vara busenkelt att bara mata ut låtar på bloggen och visst finns det perioder när man inte är 100% på topp utan bara plockar låtar ur backloggen. Men för det mesta försöker jag få till något vettigt av klippen jag hittar så att det inte bara blir en räcka nostalgiska klipp på bloggen utan även lite att läsa oxå för den som är intresserad.

Expectations: Your average ancient shoujo.

Impressions: I pretty much got the thing I expected: a very average and a very ancient shoujo.

The file that I downloaded looked truly ancient, you’d almost think those ancient-film effects were applied in the Windows Movie Maker or something, and the audio was so bad that I was hearing things there, Candy couldn’t have possibly actually said “bukkoroshite” while bidding goodbye to her friend.

All those things don’t really have much to do with the show itself though. The show itself had its own load of ancient-ness, with babies being left in front of the door (two babies at the same time, too!), orphans wearing unrealistically pretty clothes, and the main character being such an unlikable little brat that watching her made my head hurt. Annie is much easier to identify with and like, and now that I think about it, it’s no wonder she’s the vaguely Japanese-looking one.

There are zero hints of any approaching melodrama, and since melodrama is the only reason why I watch shoujo anime, this episode had pretty much nothing I could like.

In questo articolo è stata citata la notizia che Kathleen Sebelius, segretario del dipartimento alla salute ed ai servizi sociali della presidenza Obama, aveva firmato l’immunità legale per le case farmaceutiche produttrici del vaccino contro la “bufala” dell’influenza suina: ciò significa che in caso di danni da vaccino, i risarcimenti per le cause legali di indennizzo verranno pagati dal governo americano.

Quello che gli italiani non sanno, è che la stessa immunità legale è stata concessa anche dal Governo italiano alla multinazionale svizzera Novartis per il suo vaccino Focetria: in altre parole, sarà il Ministero della Salute – presieduto da Maurizio Sacconi la cui moglie, Enrica Giorgetti, è direttore generale di Farmindustria, la lobby delle case farmaceutiche – che provvederà a rifondere a Novartis i pagamenti effettuati dalla casa farmaceutica alle eventuali vittime dei danni da vaccino in caso di condanna al risarcimento per cause civili promosse da queste ultime.

La clausola è contenuta al punto 4.6 del contratto di fornitura del vaccino Focetria siglato tra il ministero della salute e la Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Srl e approvato con DD del 27 agosto 2009: l’art. 4.5 prevede rimborsi al Ministero (da Novartis) per danni causati a terzi limitatamente a causa di Difetti di Fabbricazione (che debbono comunque essere stabiliti in accordo con Novartis ai sensi dell’art. 4.4, NdA) mentre ai sensi dell’art. 4.6, il Ministero dovrà risarcire Novartis per danni causati a terzi nei casi non previsti dall’art. 4.5 . Da punto di vista giuridico, un contratto del genere si giustifica dal fatto che la Novartis lega la vendita del vaccino all’approvazione del contratto: quindi se il Governo italiano vuole ottenere il Focetria, deve sottoscriverlo, pena la mancata fornitura del prodotto.
E il Governo italiano il Focetria lo vuole. Con tutte le sue forze. Tanto da parlare specificatamente di “somma urgenza”, come si può leggere nell’ordinanza del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri del 31 luglio 2009:

Disposizioni urgenti di protezione civile finalizzate a fronteggiare il rischio della diffusione del virus influenzale A (H1N1). (Ordinanza n. 3798). (09A09582)
IL PRESIDENTE DEL CONSIGLIO DEI MINISTRI
“…Al fine di contrastare la diffusione della pandemia influenzale da nuovo virus A (H1N1) e di assicurare la tempestiva attuazione di un piano strategico di vaccinazione della popolazione maggiormente esposta agli effetti del predetto virus, il direttore generale della prevenzione sanitaria del Dipartimento prevenzione e comunicazione del Ministero del lavoro, della salute e delle politiche sociali, e’ autorizzato a provvedere con i poteri di cui all’art. 1, comma 2 dell’ordinanza del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri n. 3275 del 28 marzo 2003 ed anche esercitando diritti di prelazione gia’ acquisiti presso produttori farmaceutici per contrastare altri tipi di pandemie influenzali con produttori farmaceutici, ad acquisire in termini di somma urgenza la fornitura di dosi di vaccino, farmaci antivirali ed i dispositivi di protezione individuale necessari per assicurare la vaccinazione delle categorie sensibili e comunque di almeno il quaranta per cento della popolazione residente nel territorio nazionale… ” (fonte)

Quindi, e tanto per riassumere: il Governo italiano ha deciso che lo Stato italiano ha assolutamente bisogno del vaccino contro la bufala dell’influenza suina e pur di averlo al “modico” costo di 400 milioni di euro, si farà carico delle eventuali spese per rifusione danni da vaccino senza che le case farmaceutiche debbano rimetterci un euro.

Le domande, quindi, sono tre. La prima:
quanti sanno dell’ “impunità” legale concessa a Novartis dal governo italiano?
La seconda:
qualcuno ricorda di aver sentito o letto la notizia su qualsiasi televisione, radio o giornale?
L’ultima:
quanto è grande il disprezzo che questi governanti, che fingono di amministrarci, dimostrano di avere per noi cittadini di questo Stato e le sue risorse?

L’ACCORDO

Influenza A: industrie «immunizzate» contro eventuali danni da vaccino

Ci sono già segnalazioni di sospette reazioni avverse, alcune gravi: ma sarà lo Stato a garantire eventuali indennizzi. Come in altri Paesi.

MILANO – Finora sono 374 le persone che, in Italia hanno lamentato sospette reazioni alla vaccinazione anti-influenza A, su un totale di 334 mila dosi somministrate. Per lo più si tratta di reazioni non gravi (nell’84 per cento dei casi), ma, secondo l’Aifa, l’Agenzia italiana del farmaco, che raccoglie le segnalazioni sul suo sito, nel 10 per cento dei casi la gravità non è stata definita, mentre le rimanenti (che per sottrazione risultano essere il 6 per cento) sono state considerate gravi. Ribadiamo: sono soltanto sospetti e la relazione diretta di causa-effetto fra vaccino (il Focetria, l’unico disponibile in Italia) e disturbi segnalati è tutta da dimostrare. Ma non è escluso che esista. E aggiungiamo: se queste reazioni dovessero essere messe in relazione al vaccino e comportare danni permanenti, chi dovrà risponderne non sarà l’industria produttrice del vaccino.
LE RESPONSABILITÀ – Perché il contratto fra il Ministero della Salute e la multinazionale Novartis, produttrice del vaccino Focetria, prevede l’esonero per quest’ultima da ogni responsabilità per eventuali danni da vaccinazione anche imprevedibili e inattesi. Eccetto ovviamente quelli che potrebbero derivare da omessi controlli sulla sua preparazione. Lo Stato si assume completamente il rischio da vaccini, giustificato dall’emergenza pandemia e l’Italia è allineata con una cinquantina di altri Paesi il cui governi hanno firmato lo stesso tipo di accordo. Anche gli Stati Uniti hanno seguito questa strada con i loro fornitori di vaccini anti-pandemia: dal 15 giugno scorso le industrie farmaceutiche americane godono di un’immunità giuridica contro eventuali cause per danni da parte dei vaccinati contro l’influenza da H1N1. In quella data infatti, il Governo americano ha introdotto un emendamento alla legge sulle urgenze pubbliche (il PREP Act) che , in definitiva, protegge le aziende dalla minaccia di cause legali e da richiesta di indennizzi.
PREP ACT AMERICANO – Lo stesso PREP Act autorizza il Ministero della Sanità a istituire un fondo per indennizzare eventuali vittime degli effetti indesiderati da vaccini. Gli Stati Uniti hanno già dovuto affrontare, in passato, decine di cause in seguito alla vaccinazione di massa, voluta nel 1976 dal Presidente Gerald Ford, per fronteggiare un’epidemia di virus H1N1. All’epoca la minaccia di una nuova influenza spagnola aveva fatto paura e l’amministrazione aveva dato il via libera alla campagna di vaccinazione che non solo era risultata poi inutile (perché l’epidemia non c’è stata) , ma aveva provocato 532 casi di sindrome di Guillain Barrè, una forma di paralisi, reversibile nella maggior parte dei casi se curata adeguatamente e 25 morti da vaccino su 48 milioni di persone cui era stato somministrato. «In Italia – precisa Gaetano Maria Fara igienista all’Università di Roma La Sapienza – esiste una legge sui danni da vaccini. Oggi non esistono più vaccinazioni obbligatorie per legge, ma quando lo Stato fornisce attivamente e gratuitamente la vaccinazione e in qualche modo la incoraggia, garantisce poi, attraverso questa legge, il risarcimento dei danni civili. Non di quelli penali ovviamente, attribuibili, per esempio, a omessi controlli, e che rimangono di competenza dell’azienda produttrice».
CONSENSO INFORMATO – A chi vuole sottoporsi alla vaccinazione viene comunque richiesto un consenso informato: in altre parole il cittadino prende atto anche degli eventuali danni che gli possono derivare dalla vaccinazione e firma, accettando la procedura. «Questo consenso vale soprattutto per i danni minori – aggiunge Fara – ma esiste sempre l’imponderabile. E se è vero che le cure di eventuali danni sono assicurate dal sistema sanitario gratuitamente, rimangono pur sempre eventuali danni biologici o morali che possono costituire motivo di iniziativa legale».

Ho letto con interesse il suo articolo del 20 novembre 2009 su chi pagherà i danni da vaccino A/H1N1 (anche perché ne avevo parlato 3 giorni prima sul mio blog, qui): vi ho però trovato delle imprecisioni che sarebbe bene correggere. Laddove lei riporta:

va chiarito che, al contrario, in Italia le vaccinazioni obbligatorie esistono eccome: sono quelle da effettuarsi in età minore e per la cui inosservanza è prevista una sanzione amministrativa e la segnalazione al tribunale dei minori. Oltre a questo, la legge sulla rifusione dei danni da vaccino riguarda le vaccinazioni obbligatorie per legge (vedi sopra, e qui per il testo completo): su quelle facoltative – come quella per la “suina” -, ha ben poco da dire. Ovvero – e al contrario di quanto afferma l’esperto da lei citato – la legge di cui sopra non garantisce un bel nulla riguardo a vaccinazioni che non siano obbligatorie, e men che meno il risarcimento dei danni civili.

It’s a busy day today, but it’s for a good reason.

Tomorrow, my long-time pals Rick, Rob and Dan come into St. Cloud for our fourth annual Strat-O-Matic baseball tournament. From mid-morning to early evening, we’ll laugh, tell stories, listen to a wide variety of tunes and play a little tabletop baseball along the way.

Once again, Rob is the defending champion. In last year’s tournament, his two-time champ, the 1922 St. Louis Browns, were knocked off in the first round. But he took his second team – the 1995 Colorado Rockies – to the title with a remarkable combination of lots of offense, some good bullpen management and lots of luck. (Even he acknowledges that last part.)

So Rick, Dan and I will try to keep Rob from winning a fourth straight title. For those who are interested, here are the teams that are in this year’s tournament. (For those uninterested, you can skip to the next paragraph.)

Whatever happens, the day of the annual tournament is one of the best days of the year for me, a chance to share my home and some very good times with my long-time friends. The Texas Gal puts up with the noise and the disruption with an amazing amount of grace. I imagine that our two annual tournaments (baseball in the autumn and hockey in spring) leave her feeling as if she’s the housemother in a fraternity house for graying sophomores.

Each spring and fall, as we plan our menu and the required grocery and liquor store trips, she’ll remind me of something and say, “That’s for the Saturday the boys are here, so make sure we have enough.”

We’ll have plenty of everything we need tomorrow, when the boys are back in town.

The most anthemic of these is the Thin Lizzy track (though Don Henley comes close). With its almost relentless guitar riffs, “The Boys Are Back In Town” dares you not to tap your feet or bob your head or pound out a rhythm on the steering wheel. And if you’re in the car, there’s no way you’re not going to turn the radio up all the way. The single was Thin Lizzy’s only hit, peaking at No. 12 during the summer of 1976. Oh, and that line about “drivin’ all the old men crazy”? It’s a little disquieting to realize that if I were anyone in the song these days, I’d be one of those old men.

I always thought Brownsville Station’s “Smoking in the Boys’ Room” was kind of a silly song, but then, it came along a little bit after I left high school and before hardly any anti-smoking regulations came to our college campus: Smoking was definitely allowed in school. But it moves along nicely, boogies a little bit, and it does have a hell of a hook. The single went to No. 3 during the winter of 1973-74.

Mountain’s “Boys in the Band” is a subtle track, almost delicate at moments, that seems to belie the band’s reputation for guitar excess. But the elegiac tone fits perfectly for a song that has its protagonist saying goodbye to his band and life on the road:

“We play tunes today
“Leaving memory of yesterday.
“All the circles widen getting in the sun,
“All the seasons spinning all the days one by one”

The title of Don Henley’s album, Building the Perfect Beast, fits, because Henley darn near built the perfect pop song in “The Boys of Summer.” Backed on that track by a stellar quartet – Mike Campbell of the Heartbreakers, Steve Porcaro of Toto, studio pro Danny Kortchmar and bassist Larry Klein – Henley melds haunting music and literate and thoughtful lyrics into a cohesive whole. And you can tap your feet to it, too. (Or pound on the steering wheel, if you’re driving behind that Cadillac with the Grateful Dead sticker on it.) The single went to No. 5 during its fourteen weeks on in the Top 40 as 1984 turned into 1985.

Hey kids! Hear that odd sound at the beginning of Mott the Hoople’s “One of the Boys”? When we old farts talk about dialing a telephone, that’s what it sounded like. That’s an honest-to-god dial telephone. There are other positives to the song, too, of course: It’s a crunchy piece of rock,  with its chords shimmering in the glam persona of Ian Hunter and his band, and it’s another opportunity to bruise your hands on the steering wheel.

On a Saturday sometime around 1975, I was sitting in the basement rec room, reading and listening to Traffic’s The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys. I’d borrowed the album from someone – maybe Rick – and was trying to decide if I should shell out some own coin for my own copy. I liked what I heard and was thinking about heading downtown later in the day to buy the record. As the languid title track played, I heard the door at the top of the basement stairs open and I recognized my dad’s tread. Steve Winwood sang:

“If you had just a minute to breathe
“And they granted you one final wish . . .”

My dad, coming into the room, sang. “Would you wish for fish?”

And from that moment on, every time I’ve heard the song, I remember my dad being silly. I miss him.

Se qualcuno dovesse ancora nutrire dei dubbi sul fatto che l’influenza suina è una “bufala” solenne e l’unico scopo di questo assillante tam tam mediatico – foraggiato in concerto tra l’OMS e i vari governi – su pandemia e morti a milioni (falsi la prima e i secondi) è quello di far funzionare i “maneggi” delle multinazionali del farmaco, basta una veloce lettura dei documenti sul vaccino Focetria della Novartis pubblicati sul sito dell’EMEA per spazzarli via definitivamente.
Prima di proseguire, si memorizzi che se H1N1 è la definizione dell’antigene del ceppo virale dell’influenza suina, H5N1 lo è dell’ “aviaria”: la “pandemia” (si fa per dire) precedente.

4.2 Posologia e modo di somministrazione
Questo vaccino influenzale pandemico H1N1 è stato autorizzato sulla base di dati ottenuti con una versione contenente l’antigene H5N1 integrati da dati ottenuti con il vaccino contenente l’antigene H1N1. Il paragrafo Informazioni Cliniche sarà aggiornato man mano che si renderanno disponibili ulteriori dati.
Non vi è al momento alcuna esperienza clinica con Focetria (H1N1) in adulti, compresi gli anziani, bambini o adolescenti. La decisione relativa all’utilizzo di Focetria (H1N1) in ognuna delle fasce di età definite di seguito deve prendere in considerazione la quantità di dati clinici disponibili relativi ad una versione del vaccino contenente l’antigene dell’H5N1 nonché le caratteristiche patologiche della influenza pandemica in corso.

Quali studi sono stati effettuati su Focetria?
All’inizio Focetria è stato sviluppato come vaccino “prototipo” (mock-up) contenente un ceppo H5N1 del virus influenzale denominato A/Vietnam/1194/2004. La ditta ha studiato la capacità di questo vaccino prototipo di innescare la produzione di anticorpi (“immunogenicità”) contro questo ceppo di virus influenzale prima della pandemia.
Dopo l’inizio della pandemia H1N1, la ditta ha sostituito il ceppo virale presente in Focetria con il ceppo H1N1 che provoca la pandemia, presentando i dati su questa sostituzione al comitato per i medicinali per uso umano (CHMP).
Perché è stato approvato Focetria?
Il CHMP ha deciso che, sulla base delle informazioni ottenute con il vaccino prototipo e delle informazioni fornite sul cambiamento del ceppo, i benefici di Focetria sono superiori ai suoi rischi per la profilassi dell’influenza nella situazione pandemica H1N1 ufficialmente dichiarata. Il comitato ha raccomandato il rilascio dell’autorizzazione all’immissione in commercio per Focetria.
Focetria è stato autorizzato in circostanze eccezionali. Ciò significa che non è stato possibile ottenere informazioni complete sul vaccino pandemico. L’Agenzia europea per i medicinali provvederà a rivedere ogni anno tutte le nuove informazioni disponibili sul medicinale e, se necessario, questa sintesi sarà aggiornata.
Quali informazioni sono ancora attese per Focetria?
La ditta che produce Focetria raccoglierà informazioni sulla sicurezza e l’efficacia del vaccino e presenterà questi dati al CHMP per una valutazione.
Quali sono le misure prese per garantire l’uso sicuro di Focetria?
La ditta che produce Focetria raccoglierà informazioni sulla sicurezza e l’efficacia del vaccino nel corso del suo impiego, ovvero informazioni sugli effetti indesiderati e sulla sicurezza per i bambini, le donne in gravidanza, i pazienti con malattie gravi e le persone con problemi al sistema immunitario.
Altre informazioni su Focetria:
Il 2 maggio 2007 la Commissione europea ha concesso alla Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics S.r.l un’autorizzazione all’immissione in commercio per il vaccino prototipo H5N1 per Focetria, valida in tutta l’Unione europea. Il parere positivo per il vaccino H1N1 è stato concesso il 24 settembre 2009.

Capito bene? Il vaccino Focetria della Novartis è il riciclo (chiamato “mock-up” allo stesso modo degli inceneritori ribattezzati “termovalorizzatori”) del “brodone” avanzato alla multinazionale svizzera nella fabbricazione del vaccino per la pandemia “fasulla” dell’aviaria di qualche anno fa: hanno solo sostituito l’antigene H5N1 conl’H1N1. Ed Essendo stato autorizzato in circostanze eccezionali (che sono false), non sono state condotte le verifiche solitamente d’obbligo. Ma la cosa più grave è talmente grave che vale la pena di ripeterla.

La ditta che produce Focetria (Novartis, NdA) raccoglierà informazioni sulla sicurezza e l’efficacia del vaccino nel corso del suo impiego, ovvero informazioni sugli effetti indesiderati e sulla sicurezza per i bambini, le donne in gravidanza, i pazienti con malattie gravi e le persone con problemi al sistema immunitario.

Una volta per gli esperimenti si usavano le cavie: vale a dire, quei piccoli mammiferi roditori originari dell’America, con corpo tozzo di vario colore e quasi sprovvisti di coda. Una volta.
Oggi le cavie siamo noi. Anzi, prima i gruppi umani degli strati sociali meno sviluppati del 2° mondo (vedi nota a fondo articolo). Poi noi. Ora credo sia anche più chiaro il significato di quelle campagne vaccinali di massa che l’OMS (la stessa che ha dichiarato le due “bufale” pandemiche di influenza aviaria e suina) lancia ad anni alterni nei paesi del 3° mondo con il sostegno delle case farmaceutiche come la Novartis che “regalano” nientemeno che il vaccino. Cosa non farebbero le multinazionali di Big Pharma per il “progresso” della scienza e della società.

Nota. Segue l’elenco delle sperimentazioni del vaccino Focetria dichiarate dalla Novartis e condotte fino ad oggi.

• A/Vietnam/1194/2004/ (H5N1) – 471 bambini di età compresa tra 6 mesi e 17 anni e 486 adulti volontari sani.
• A/H5N1/ turkey/Turkey /05 (NIBRG23; clade 2.2) – non dichiarato il campione.
• A/H5N1/Indonesia (clade 2.1) – non dichiarato il campione.
• H5N3 (A/Duck/Singapore/97) – non dichiarato il campione.
• H9N2 (A/chicken/Hong Kong/G9/97) – non dichiarato il campione.

Degna di menzione è la notizia – del 15 giugno 2009, pubblicata da swissinfo.ch – secondo la quale la Novartis si sarebbe rifiutata di offrire gratuitamente il vaccino contro il virus dell’influenza suina ai “paesi poveri”. Ovvero, e tanto per chiarire il Novartis/pensiero, i paesi poveri vanno bene per le sperimentazioni gratuite, ma se vogliono il vaccino lo devono pagare. Di seguito il pezzo (fonte qui).

VACCINO INFLUENZA A, NOVARTIS NON FARÀ REGALI.
La multinazionale farmaceutica svizzera ha indicato lunedì che non offrirà il vaccino contro il virus dell’influenza porcina ai paesi poveri. La Novartis si dice comunque pronta a concedere sconti.
“Per produrre un vaccino occorrono anche degli incitamenti finanziari”, ha dichiarato lunedì al Financial Times il direttore generale di Novartis Daniel Vasella.
La multinazionale sta comunque esaminando in che misura sia possibile venire incontro alle richieste della direttrice dell’Organizzazione mondiale della sanità Margaret Chan – che aveva domandato la gratuità – concedendo sconti ai paesi più poveri.
Venerdì il gruppo basilese aveva indicato di aver già prodotto una piccola quantità di vaccino, in anticipo di diverse settimane rispetto alle previsioni, e di voler iniziare in luglio i test clinici.
Il governo svizzero ha dal canto suo comunicato lunedì di star conducendo trattative anche con Novartis per la fornitura di un vaccino contro l’influenza A (H1N1), vaccino al quale stanno lavorando almeno una ventina di gruppi farmaceutici.
