I let my wife choose the movie we watch almost all the time (from a stack of DVD’s that I’ve selected). I know that she will always say no to the first one I present her with, so I left Continental Divide further back in the pile that I held in my arms. After she’d said no to a number of choices, I popped that sucker in the DVD player.

A Chicago reporter, Ernie Souchak (Belushi), is investigating a corrupt city councilman. After doing an expose on some corrupt land dealings by the councilman, he is assaulted by two crooked police officers sent by the councilman, and ends up in the hospital.

It might have been a mistake, but through watching this movie, I have grown a bit. Live and learn they say, and I do hope the makers of this one did. I was surprised to see that it was written by Lawrence Kasdan and executive produced by none other than Steven Spielberg. We all know Kasdan’s work as a writer from such movies as: The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, The Big Chill, The Accidental Tourist and Grand Canyon to name a few. He is no doubt one of the great ones out there, The Accidental Tourist being one of my favorite films. I am a fan of John Belushi. Some people say I look like him, and I take it as a compliment nonetheless.

His editor decides to send him out of town for his own safety. Souchak reluctantly travels to the Rockies to interview Dr. Nell Porter (Brown), who has been conducting research on bald eagles for several years.

I love movies about city slickers in the woods, my favorite being perhaps The Great Outdoors, and looking at the poster for Continental Divide, one might think that this movie would be similar. I don’t know what Lawrence Kasdan was smoking when he wrote this screenplay. It just isn’t funny. I laughed maybe three times, and those few times it was simply because of Belushi. I don’t really understand the genre of this movie. Is it a comedy? If it is, why are all the scenes cut just when they are getting funny.

Belushi climbing a mountain? –This should be funny!

“An attempt was made during the promotional phase of the film’s release to sell Belushi and Brown as ‘the new Hepburn and Tracy’, calling to mind the gutsy creative chemistry and double-act performances of those yesteryear actors (source: wikipedia)”. The movie was in a way sort of like one of those old romantic comedies, that never actually were that funny, but casting John Belushi seemed like an odd choice. Kasdan wrote Belushi’s character as a newspaper columnist just about as poorly and naively as I did with my main character in my upcoming book Little Danger. It doesn’t hurt the movie, but once Belushi was out of the woods and back in Chicago and there still was half an hour to go, it got really boring. Belushi’s boss was another nice cliché, making sure everyone knew that he had a paper to run. He says it literally like fifteen times during the movie. Belushi was good, but with nothing funny to work with, his job was almost impossible. The movie dragged on and on, and in the end you don’t care if they end up together or not.

Bears attack the camp. Another potentially funny scene, but no laughs. It's like they didn't want anyone to laugh during this movie. The scene is cut short and we move along just as it was getting interesting.

The only laughs you'll have watching this movie are the occasional Belushi moments when he makes a funny face or something else clearly unscripted.

Another potentially funny scene, but nooo...

Looks funny right? This can't be unfunny, unless of course you decide to fade to black... yes they did!

Based on these pictures, this movie looks like it’s a riot, but unfortunately it isn’t. Was it a complete waste of time then? Well no. John Belushi left us way too young and he didn’t get a chance to leave much of a legacy behind him, so we should enjoy everything there is. John Belushi was superb in this movie and deserves a lot of credit for his work, but watching this movie, you get a feeling like there were too many chefs making this thing. I have to admit that I got a little bored towards the end of the movie, but otherwise I didn’t exactly spend the time glancing at my wristwatch. If you’re a fan of Belushi or like the look of early eighties movies, I recommend this one. If you just want to laugh, rent The Great Outdoors, City Slickers or even Troop Beverly Hills.

Dr. Ira Casson and Dr. David Viano, members of the committee since 1994 and co-chairmen since 2007, co-authored most of the group’s published research papers whose conclusions regarding head injuries were met with considerable criticism from medical peers. Casson has been the league’s primary voice discrediting all evidence linking football players with subsequent dementia or cognitive decline, drawing criticism from fellow scientists, players and ultimately Congress.

In a memo to all teams on Tuesday in which he outlined several measures regarding concussions, Commissioner Roger Goodell said that Casson and Viano would “continue to assist the committee,” but offered no details of any future relationship.
Go to Well

As families gather around the country this week to celebrate Thanksgiving, many of them are bracing for the intense emotions of the holiday meal. The combination of food and family often brings out longstanding tensions, criticism and battles for control. Simple issues like cooking with butter or asking for seconds are fraught with family conflict and commentary.

“If we had an audiotape of a lot of families talking together, you would hear so much chatter about what other people are eating, who gained weight, who lost weight, who’s eating like a bird, who’s having seconds,” notes Cynthia M. Bulik, director of the eating disorders program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Bulik told the story of a patient whose mother scolded her for not eating her homemade cookies. “You don’t like my cookies?” she asked. As a result, the daughter relented and took a cookie. But when she then reached for a second, her mother scolded her again. “Do you really think you need another one?” she asked her.

In another family, a mother-in-law agreed to show up for Thanksgiving only if she could be assured none of the foods would be prepared with butter. “I’m not doing butter right now,” she said. “If you do butter, I’m not coming.”

Many people have an unhealthy preoccupation with body image or have undiagnosed eating problems that they may then try to impose on others, said Dr. Kathryn Zerbe, professor of psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University and a longtime expert on eating disorders.

START HERE:

Dear Stock Photography Professionals, Amateur Photographers, Illustrators and Graphic Designers

“Success” is relative …

It was just over two years ago I started to research how to sell my photography when I caught “The Bug” to start selling my images online. In September of 2007 I decided to dedicate two years to explore the possibilities of the incredible world of stock photography. I felt that two years would be enough time to give me a chance to sink my teeth into training myself from any and all sources and to get up to speed, starting basically from scratch, on this rapidly expanding and growing industry. At the time I had never even picked up a photography book or taken a photoshop tutorial. It is now two years later, and while I feel I have come very far and achieved many successes, I find that there is always more to learn. I absolutely love this work !

In July of 2007 I relocated to Washington State after accepting a transfer to work at The Boeing Company’s Commercial Airplane Headquarters in Renton, Washington just outside of Seattle, Washington. Analyzing Market Research was my specialty. Driving out to Washington from Colorado during the course of my relocation I captured a few thousands pictures on a Canon SD750 camera. At that time I was interested in seeing if I could market my images by selling prints of them at festivals, art shows and galleries. It was during this period of research that I discovered the world of commercial stock photography.

My first site that I was approved as a contributor at was BigStockPhoto in September of 2007. For that reason alone I will always have a special place in my heart for them. I found that their entry criteria was not as strict as some of the larger sites. The same applies for 123rf so these are both excellent places to get your first exposure to in selling your photography online. That being said you will want to get into Shutterstock and iStockPhoto as soon as possible. This took me many months to achieve as I was starting from nearly complete scratch with the exception of strong information technology background. FYI: Recently BigStockPhoto was acquired by the subscription based microstock giant Shutterstock .

Stock Photography Sites are often referred to by short abbreviations. It was more than a little confusing to myself when I first started researching microstock on the various forums so I will list a few abbreviations that you may find useful to know your first time encountering them:

SS    =   Shutterstock

IS    =   iStockPhoto

DT   =   Dreamstime

FT   =   Fotolia

BSP =   BigStockPhoto

MP  =   MostPhotos

BME = Best Month Ever

WME = Worst Month Ever

BDE = Best Day Ever

MSG = Microstock Group

EL = Extended License

RF = Royalty Free

Glass = Camera Lens for a DSLR Camera ex. Canon 55-250 IS

IS = Image Stabilization

My first sale came from the second site that I was approved at as a contributor which was Dreamstime. I initially sought out DT during a time when BigStockPhoto was halting uploading over the weekends. This is just one small example of the kind of roadblocks one faces when it comes to trying to build up an approved portfolio at a microstock agency.

At its most basic level, getting started in microstock photography takes just a few basic steps …

Check-out the various stock photography links on this blog

Browse the microstock sites and become familiar and get a feel for the photography on them

Prepare 3-10 of your best images in accordance to the respective standards of the site you wish to join

Submit your applications to become a contributor (a.k.a photographer) and get approved to contribute

Shoot Pictures. Post Process Images in Photoshop. Upload Photos to all sites for review. Repeat.

Collect the revenue from sales made each month across all sites over the years for the life of the image. Large subscription based sites such as Shutterstock will ultimately produce daily sales for you after your portfolio of approved images grows to a modest size of a few hundred images however credit based sale sites such as iStockPhoto will yield higher commissions at a much slower rate. There is constant debate over which is best. Most stock photographers submit all of their work to each of the most profitable microstock sites.

Receive your payout after reaching a threshold for each respective site. (ex. $50, $75, $100)

I believe a quick recap of where my interest in photography as a child came from will prove insightful to some readers …

Photography had been an interest of mine since I first began taking snapshot photos with “hand me down” cameras from my parents I was about 9 or 10 years old. It was probably around 1979-1981 ish when I first started using 110 film cameras that I usually borrowed from my mother. The first camera that I actually owned was a Polaroid One Step instant camera. I remember having to pay for my own film. Early on I mowed lawns and later on I worked for the family gas station starting at the age of 10 working for $2.00 / hour. At the very least I know I was responsible for paying for the cartridges of film which were very expensive for around ten photos if I remember correctly. This limited my ability to take pictures as I was saving up to pay my way for a $750.00 30-Day bus tour trip across the country with the Boy Scouts to the National Jamboree in Virginia in 1981. Since the film for my instant camera was so expensive my mother allowed me to borrow her Sony Disc Camera. I took both cameras on my 30-day bus tour “Reunion with History” to the Jamboree. The Statue of Liberty was getting a makeover during our tour but it was still amazing and one of my favorite subjects. However, when I went to the top of the “Twin Towers” World Trade Center, that was my favorite scene. The bridges and skyscrapers of New York City fostered my love for architecture and structures which I later studied at length. I plan to dig up a couple of those first photos of mine from that trip, scan them, and post them here as a point-of-reference …

Taxi – Let The Sunshine In

Where to find the best beaches along the coast of Orange County, CaliforniaBeing raised in Southern California, it is almost mandatory to become a surfer. I had an immediate appeal to the ocean because of the feeling that I had to calm the salt air and the sound of waves . In addition, I have been to almost every pause of best beaches in Orange CountyNeighborhood: BeachHuntington Huntington Beach, CA 92648Oregon coast to Ensenada in Mexico, but I think the beaches of Orange County is the best, hands down! In years 60 and 70, the most beautiful beaches for surfing and sunbathing have been in Los Angeles. But today, the crowd moved south to Orange County, most likely due to water pollution. If you visit Southern California and looking for beach visitation, many people will guide you to a crowded and not as attractive place.Because there are only a few spots that are not yet discovered … … well until now.The first break when you head south of Los Angeles is in Seal Beach. Seal Beach is located on the border of LA and Orange County. Most people go to the pier in Seal Beach, just south of here is a little known place called Surfside. To arrive at Surfside, drive south on Warner Ave, all the way from the beach, turn right immediately after passing Jack-In-The-Box. Head all the way and the park where the street ends. There are many surf spots, good and full of sand to find a good place to sunbathe. Go south on PCH will take you to a beautiful beach in Huntington. There are two good breaks in Huntington Beach. The first task is called "the cliff", this beach is accessible by road south on Goldenwest, then turn left on PCH (parking is available on the street). This beach is ideal for a

CHICAGO (Reuters) – H.J. Heinz Co <HNZ.N> posted a lower quarterly profit on Tuesday, hurt by sales declines in North America and Europe, but said it is optimistic about its sales momentum heading into the second half of its fiscal year and raised its full-year profit forecast.

The maker of ketchup, Smart Ones frozen entrees and Ore-Ida potatoes said it earned $231.4 million, or 73 cents a share, for the second quarter ended October 28, down from $276.7 million, or 87 cents per share, a year earlier. The previous year’s results included a sizable gain from currency hedging.

Heinz earned 76 cents per share from continuing operations, down 10 cents per share from a year earlier.

Economic weakness in European markets has pressured Heinz, while competitors like Nestle SA <NESN.VX> have aggressively promoted in the frozen food market.

Sales rose 2.5 percent to $2.67 billion.

For 2010, Heinz now expects to earn $2.72 per share to $2.82 per share from continuing operations, up from a prior target of $2.60 to $2.70.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Improved home ventilation that dehumidifies the air may make it easier for people with asthma to breathe at night, hint findings of a small study from the United Kingdom.

In theory, lowering indoor humidity should lower concentrations of moisture-loving dust mites – a major trigger for asthma-related breathing problems.

To test this, Dr sel employed loans. Neil C. Thomson, at the University of Glasgow, and colleagues measured breathing patterns over 12 months in 119 men and women who were about 42 years old on average and had asthma for 9 to 30 years.

Specialists retrofitted each home with a humidity-lowering ventilation system. They also steam-cleaned carpets, and replaced mattress covers and bedding, to clear dust mites.

In half the homes the ventilation systems actively exchanged indoor and outdoor air. In the other "control group" half, the systems had operational motors but non-operational fans to help ensure the groups remained "blinded" to what was actually happening, the researchers report in the journal Allergy.

Thomson's team found no overall difference in dust mite concentrations between the homes with and without a working ventilation system.

Also, their comparison of morning breathing tests done at the start of the study and again at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, showed no difference between those living with or without operational ventilation.

However, participants living in homes with working ventilation systems showed an overall significant improvement in evening breathing tests, while those with non-working systems worsened in these tests.

This may be partially due to the slightly reduced humidity, and dust mite levels found in the bedrooms and bedding of participants with active ventilation systems. But ventilation may also have improved overall air quality, Thomson speculated in an email to Reuters Health.

Certamente, o que mais chama atenção desse filme é a trilha sonora composta por Vangelis, considerada hoje o hino todas as maratonas.
Random Bob Jones University Memories… Judging from the feedback I’ve received, on and off the web, b

Random Bob Jones University Memories…

Judging from the feedback I’ve received, on and off the web, both positive and negative, there seems to be some interest in life at Bob Jones University – more specifically, my life at Bob Jones University.

Occasionally, and usually without warning, random BJU “flashbacks” will snap me out of the here-and-now and for a moment…I’m back walking the well-worn covered sidewalks of the Fortress of Faith.

Some recent forgotten BJU moments:

A group of master debaters -- Sam is far right.

1) The time I received 25 demerits for calling Sam Lamerson “The Master Debater” because Sam was a member of the University Debate Association. Someone more spiritual than I overheard me say “Master Debater” and “turned me in” to the proper BJ authorities.

2) Since you brought up masturbation, the memory of Mr. Tony Miller’s “Masturbation Lectures” still haunts me. At a “Men’s Dorm Meeting”, Mr. Miller would stand on a chair and preach to the assembled dorm occupants about the evils of masturbation. Some of his more disturbing quotes:

“Men, there are those here who will continue this and prefer it to sexual intercourse with their wives.”

“When you fantasize about a woman while masturbating, you not only harm your spirit, you sully hers.”

Mr. "M"

Hard to believe the wizards-of-smart at BJU later promoted this moron to Dean of Men where I believe he continued his “Big M” lectures via the on-campus radio station WBJU AM 620.

3) Listening to Dr. Katherine Stenholm go off on Tina Turner’s song, What’s Love Got to Do with It. Dr. Stenholm believed that art (whether a song, painting, photograph or motion picture) was immoral if it did not punish or condemn immorality. She spent an entire class hour explaining to us why Ms. Turner’s song was immoral.

4) As BJU Cinema students, we were required to plan our budget for our student film projects – the thing is we had to figure in another 15 to 20% to cover what we film students called “The Pachter Factor”. Fredrick J. Pachter was the cinema faculty member that processed our black & white 16mm motion picture film – and he had a habit of ruining a good bit of it. So, when we students would be shooting, we always shot more footage than we needed to cover “The Pachter Factor.”

5) Watching a film about the Holocaust during Cinema Lab, the supervising cinema instructor, Mr. Bruce Polhamus, covered the lens of the film projector during the scenes showing dead, naked, female bodies. Did Mr. Polhamus think those scenes were sexy?

6) Cinema faculty member, Mr. Ray Gahagen, a small be-speckled, Woody Allen look-a-like who spent an enormous amount of time trying to computerize our manually controlled ACME animation camera and stand. Mr. Gahagen spent weeks cooped up in a small, lime-green room in the Animation Department writing in machine code and BASIC. We’d ask him, “How’s it going, Mr. Gahagen?” His reply was always the same: “Still working the bugs out.”

Mr. Gahagen was later “let go” for reasons – well – let me just say he and Woody Allen had a lot more than looks in common…

We never did get that ACME stand computerized.

7) Spring time, in the back of the Concert Center (now called Stratton Hall), when I caught my speech teacher, Mr. Don Ryerson and his fiancé, Miss Rosa Miles “making out” – BJU style. All I said was, “Hi, Mr. Ryerson!” in a very cheery voice. He and Miss Miles could’ve been severely disciplined or fired, but I never said a word. My speech grades did improve, however.

   Speaking of the Concert Center, I pooped on the roof in the spring of 1980. Some other time – it’s a long story.

9) Someone was smoking pot on first floor of Johnson (Dormitory) during the summer of 1981. Never found out who – dammit.

10) If you were a really good looking girl and you took Mr. Wade K. Ramsey’s Photography 101 class, you would get an “A”.

11) October 1984 – Dr. Bob Jones III convenes the first ever (and only) BJU “Ghost Busters Chapel.” Seems a student, James E. Witt, worked part-time for a taxidermist and managed to snag a set of bear paws and bear feet and brought them back to campus. Apparently, bear paws and feet, when stripped of their fur (pelt? skin?) look very similar to human hands and feet. Mr. Witt had the bright idea of leaving these human remain look-a-likes on the keyboard and pedals of a student piano located in the University’s “Practice Shacks”. Someone actually did think they were human and called the Greenville (South Carolina) police AND Dr. Bob III at approximately 2:00 AM. Later that same day, Dr. Bob III called a campus assembly and proclaimed any Halloween pranks or ghost stories “off-limits”. In other words – expulsion. Hence, the “Ghost Busters” Chapel.

12) Grady Stone from Wilson, North Carolina predicted the MP3 player, February 1980.

13) It was I, Ektachrome, who invented the first “Walkman” long before Sony ever did. Back in the late fall of 1978, I took my RCA 9-volt transistor radio and spliced together two sets of audio ear-plugs so I could listen to WFBC-AM after lights out (11:00 PM). Everything – the radio and the ear-plugs – could be hidden safely inside the stuffing of my pillow. Unlike the Sony Walkman, my radio wasn’t stereo, but at least I kept up with the Top-40 of the late 70’s.

Dr. G. Salter

14) Bob Jones University – the only place where I have met two people who actually met and shook hands with Adolf Hitler – and later came to work on faculty at BJU – Dr. Guenter Salter and Ms. Edith Long. Unusual, indeed.

15) The day in Child Psychology Dr. Walter Fremont walked from his desk to where I was sitting and rubbed his hands through my curly hair and said, “There’s a ni**er in the woodpile!”

To this day I have no idea what that had to do with class.

He, Dr. Fremont, was also the guy that declared it was “okay” to make fun of fat people because “they can help it.”

16) I experienced repeated episodes of “counseling” by various dormitory supervisors. First there was Mr. Craig Olsen, Dorm Supervisor of Reveal Dormitory – Mr. Olsen was fat, soft, effeminate and a total prick. Second, there was Mr. Doug Sprunger, a total creep. This guy played a major role in finally getting me “shipped” (expelled).

There is an addendum to Doug Sprunger – he later became pastor at a small church near the Ektachrome Family Compound in Illinois. My only hope is that Illinois treats him as well as he treated me.

17) I hate to admit it – the rice & gravy at the Dining Commons was divine.

18) 1981 – my roommate and I snuck off to see Raiders of the Lost Ark. Twice.

19) I got in trouble in Biological Science Survey for laughing at Mark Dutton and Dave Doran drawing “smiley faces” on pictures of male genitalia in our biology textbook. (The seating was alphabetical – Doran, Dutton, Ektachrome, etc.) I was fine until Dutton tilted the book in my direction and said, “Oh look! He’s happy!”

20) And last, a salute to the BJU Vintage (yearbook) Staff of 1981, who, when faced with a spacing problem on page 285, invented a student to fill the space – Cecil H. Sandersen of Zephryhills, Florida.

This event took place in the days long before Photoshop – they cut the head off of an underclassman and pasted it onto the body of an upperclassman. Brilliant.

Only problem was, “Cecil’s” face was the real face of a real student named Doug Haughton, Jr. (on page 297) – and friends of Doug’s pointed out the fact that he was also “Cecil H. Sandersen” – well, the jig was up. Dr. Bob Jones III came down hard on the 1981 Vintage Staff.

I’m sure they’re still suffering…

1981 BJU "Vintage" Staff

Blood on grave? What could it mean?
We’ve had some odd happenings with my mother, who was here visiting for a week….things being moved around, odd noises in the house, etc. I have never had any paranormal experiences in this house before, but one night she said she saw and heard the spirit of a little boy playing in the hallway outside the room where she slept.

Today she went to see her father’s tomb since she was in town, and was startled to find that there was quite alot of what looked like blood all over the concrete.

It was not an illusion, it did not disappear, my aunts spent half an hour cleaning it off with disposable wipes.

Anyone have any opinions about the significance of blood on a grave? I can’t help but think that everything happening is somehow related. The cemetery is in a small rural town, and the site is checked on regularly.

And please, if you don’t believe in the supernatural-good for you, but statements intended to inform me about how closed minded you are (or what you think about me for not being so) won’t be helpful

Your grandfather has a "tomb’, not a "grave", it is built of "concrete", and sounds noticeable in a small-town cemetery. As in "draws attention". It’s only a week after Halloween. Some fool sacrificed a black cat or a chicken there on Halloween.

I hope you called the police before cleaning everything up.

				We’ve been experiencing odd sounds and things moving around here as well, and an apparition was spotted a few years back, but it’s no major activity. I suggest you try to look into all the logical things that could be making those sounds and see if anyone has been moving your things before you jump to paranormal conclusions. It may very well be paranormal, but don’t psych yourself out for nothing. As for the grave it could have been some kids pulling pranks, or a group of teenage "satanists" or what have you, just fooling around. There’s too many variables to consider so I wouldn’t let it bother you too much.

The stock market finished slightly lower on Friday as investors worried about the speed of the econo

The stock market finished slightly lower on Friday as investors worried about the speed of the economic recovery and questioned the fast rise of technology stocks.

It was a relatively quiet day on Wall Street, with no economic reports on the calendar, but traders still found reason for caution.

An earnings report from the computer maker Dell on Thursday showed a 54 percent drop in third-quarter profit and a 15 percent decline in revenue, falling short of expectations. Those results shook investors, who had come to expect spectacular gains in technology shares. Dell’s stock fell 10 percent.

Technology stocks, with shares of luxury-goods and energy companies like General Electric, drove the declines on Wall Street.

The major indexes fell in the morning and then made up some ground as health care stocks posted gains. The Dow Jones industrial average briefly crossed into positive territory in the last half-hour of trading, but by the closing bell, it had fallen 14.28 points, or 0.1 percent, to 10,318.16. The broader Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index was off 3.52 points, 0.3 percent, to 1,091.38, while the Nasdaq composite index dipped 10.78 points, or 0.5 percent, to 2,146.04.

The dollar rose against other world currencies, hitting slightly below $1.49 against the euro. Treasury prices fell as yields rose. Oil fell slightly to $76.72 a barrel, contributing to declines in energy stocks. Gold climbed to $1,150 an ounce even as the dollar gained strength, a trend analysts attributed to speculation that the dollar would continue to weaken.

Worries over the strength of the underlying economy seemed to make investors cautious, leaving some analysts wondering whether a remarkable eight-month rally might be showing signs of retreat.

Joseph Saluzzi, co-head of equity trading at Themis Trading, noted that while the number of shares trading hands on Wall Street was up from a year ago, much of the activity could be attributed to high-frequency traders, not longer-term investors.

“We have a market that is propped up on hope and short-term-type trading,” Mr. Saluzzi said. “Once investors start to lose confidence, and people realize you’re not necessarily going to see a vibrant economy soon, this could unravel quickly.”

He noted, however, that the market had been extremely volatile recently. “We’ve seen market character change a few times, only to change and run right back up,” he added.

But Carmine Grigoli, chief investment strategist at Mizuho Securities USA, said there was little evidence that the stock market had turned overly optimistic.

“We have yet to see the widespread optimism and the high levels of public participation characteristic of a speculative market,” he wrote in a research note on Friday. “In fact, the public remains remarkably uninvolved and skeptical about the bull market.”

Technology stocks declined as investors began to doubt whether 2010 profits would meet expectations. David G. Dietze, president and chief investment strategist at Point View Financial Services, said investors flocked to technology stocks in recent months because those stocks tended to be globally diversified and insulated from the booms and busts of particular countries.

“There has been a fabulous run,” Mr. Dietze said. “Now these earnings estimates are making investors think maybe the market has pushed these stocks too far too fast.”

He said concern over the fundamental health of the economy was also driving stocks lower, pointing to news on Friday that D. R. Horton, the home builder, projected a dim outlook for the housing market. Shares of D. R. Horton fell more than 15 percent, closing at $10.38.

In addition, the president of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, signaled that it might be time for policy makers across the world to gradually reduce injections of emergency cash into struggling economies.

“Emergency treatment and strong medicines are sometimes necessary, but if their use is prolonged, they can lead to dependence and even addiction,” Mr. Trichet said, according to Reuters.

An odd quirk of the markets startled some traders on Friday, as the yield on three-month Treasury bills briefly turned slightly negative. It hovered near zero for most of the day.

On Thursday, the yield slipped below zero for the first time since the height of the financial crisis in 2008. The negative yield last year was a sign of desperation as investors rushed to a haven in Treasury bills, in effect paying to keep money secure.

The Treasury’s benchmark 10-year note fell 8/32, to 100 2/32, and the yield rose to 3.37 percent from 3.34 percent.

Overseas, Japan’s Nikkei stock average closed down 0.5 percent. Britain’s FTSE 100 fell 0.3 percent, Germany’s DAX index declined 0.7 percent and France’s CAC-40 dropped 0.8 percent.

A series of gold items are being reproduced for a Tutankhamun exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in Toronto, Canada. The gold rings, bracelets and pendants were originally produced in 1979 when the King Tut exhibition previously visited the gallery, says the Toronto Star.Eya Donald Greenland is sculpting the items, which will be sold in the museum’s gift shop for up to C$1,000 (£566).The original sculptor was her late husband Ivaan Kotulsky, who designed and made the collection that is inspired by ancient Egypt.Mr Kotulsky passed away last year and Ms Donald Greenland says that she did not intend to recreate her husband’s work until the AGO approached her with an enquiry about the gold items from 1979 burning fireplaces.She has found 18 originals that were made by her husband and will be reproducing more of the Egyptian-inspired gold scarab jewellery to be sold in the museum’s gift shop. The King Tut exhibition will be displayed at the AGO between November 24th and April 18th 2010.

Fallout 3 megaton questions?
k so i have a few questions concerning the main storyline…plz if you could answer them throughoutly that would be great

1) If i obtain jericho as an ally can I still blow up megaton afterwards and still have him with me?

2) does anything happen if i steal things from his house?

3) if I fire him after blowing up megaton..say…because I wanted to do one of those quests which im only allowed to do alone, could I go get him again afterwards? If so where would he be and would I have to pay another 1000 caps to get him back.

4) I heard that if you blow up megaton that girl at craterside supply survives but is victim to radiation. Id like to see that because it sounds funny however would I still be able to do complete the guide or would she have turned against me at that point…

5) I kinda like megaton as a fallback place to go to, however I really want to own one of the apartments especially the one in tenpenny tower. How can I get access to either one, without having to blow up megaton (if thats possible). Note: ive already killed the ghouls at tenpenny tower.

6) There is a room on the balcony of tenpenny tower (around the corner from Tenpenny himself) that also requires a key to get in, is that the room I get access to by blowing up Megaton? or is that something else entirelly

Thx again!

			1) yes he will stay with you unless you fire him

2) no nothing happens

3) you will lose him forever

4) you can still complete it… she moves to the underworld which is hidden in the museum of history in DC

5) Diffuse the bomb to get the megaton house, blow it up to get the tenpenny house

6) it is just he balcony to one of the other empty rooms. it isnt anything special
