We steal Flyers finally had there first gig..  booked to play at the Queens head in Rothbury as part of “Rothbury Roots” along side Rod Clements. The night has a brilliant atmosphere and a very intimate setting. The show was a “Sell out” too… and there was around 80 tickets sold from the venue and the place was jam packed…

Heres a few photos below from the night!!  Its good to get the first one out the way.. and what better place and people to share it with!!

This month, as I have done in September 2009, I will upload a blog every day. This challenge I have set for myself has the same rule: Never lack quality. Even though I might rush several times to get it finished, I will make sure all blogs are of good quality and an interesting / fun read.

Also, I have finally done what I had my mind set on for months: To be more active on YouTube again. I have posted a series of 4 videos that feature my last 4 blogs in video form (a top 10 of 4 types of music).

This month will hopefully produce a lot of inspiring stuff for you and for myself.

It’s end of January 2010….so fast the first month of the year is gone…February month comes, and it is the month of festive for all the Chinese around the world, because Chinese New Year or known as Spring Festival falls on the 14th February this year, same date with the Valentine Day.

Coming back to the title of this post…YES! Hooray….this post is meant to celebrate the 300th post in my blog…really excited and can’t expect that I have written 300 posts at this moment, in a period of one year and four months. Great!  Having 300 posts in this blog is not an easy job…I spent countless hours on collecting information, gathering pictures, and sharing my thoughts in this blog!

Another 8 posts will be expected from now till before the Chinese New Year…so that it sums up to 308 posts, a number that seems lucky in Chinese perspective. I have also created a new header for my blog, wishing every Chinese, Gong Xi Fa Cai! Do you notice that the header of my blog changed every month…hope I have time to consider on maintaining this monthly changes on the header, so that every readers of my blog will be seeing new header, and new things in my blog every month!

Tomorrow is the 1st February, in Malaysia, and in my current location, Kuala Lumpur, it is the public holiday for the capital, as it is one of the three Federal Territories (the others; Putrajaya and Labuan) for the annual 1st February public holiday of Federal Territory Day.

Yesterday is 30th January, in Malaysia, we have Thaipusam Day, a day celebrated by Indians, especially at Batu Caves, considered near to KL also. Traffic jams is expected around that area, and those Chinese people going out to buy new year items too…it is another weekend, hence, there will be surely more cars and people out there…then, it would be nice to just stay indoor.

Many holidays are going around in Malaysia at this period…Thaipusam (for Selangor), Federal Territory Day (for Federal Territories), Chinese New Year and Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday…The following Saturday, 6th February will be the full month party of my nephew, at the front of my house…it would be a happening night that time!

Our first zine is due out soon in PDF format.  It will feature writing from Ben Pullar, Dominic Ward and Cameron Degraw. 

Ben Pullar has been working quietly on his first major work; in his spare time, or what he has of that, he writes short stories and other small fictions.  With a style that is at once superfluously easy on the eye and yet majestic beyond any easy depth, Ben represents the truly organic spectrum of writing.  Although an unknown at this stage in his career, his is a star that is destined to shine brightly, very brightly indeed.

Dominic Ward’s breakthrough novel, Balloon Cotton Bush, was published by Small Dogma last year.  It was just recognition for a lot of hard work and a great risk undertaken in written; stylistically uncompromising, the language has been drawn straight from the wellspring of the passions. 

Cameron Degraw is just starting out on his literary journey.  His additions to the zine will collect to form a larger body of work on spirituality.  Look again for this young rising talent.  He has much to say!

Satsuki Ward has contributed most of the artwork.  Her skills are much valued by the team, and, again, look for more of her in coming times.

You may have heard me mention this project before. It’s a collection of Thought -provoking and partially somber songs over industry beats written last summer during an uninspired period in my life which I guess turned out to be more inspiring than I thought. Actually it’s several installments of 8 song-long mini-mixtapes, but starting February 1st, I’l be running them concurrently, highlighting a song a day until February 16th.

Stay tuned everyday, as this is my most weighty set of recordings so far and by far my favorite mixtape since The Crazy 8’s (Go cop it on my site, WWW.MALIK-16.COM).
