Yesterday my best friend called and said she had found the perfect gift for me. It wasn’t my birthday, Mother’s Day, Best Friend Appreciation Day, so imagine my surprise when I heard I was getting a gift just for being me. When I arrived to her home she handed me a bag and this totally awesome and fabulously fly hat was inside. She knows me well.

Studded shoes seem to be here to stay. Shoe designers continue to make fabulous shoes with studs, jewels and spikes. Spiked pumps, loafers, boots, booties, sandals, even flats can change the most simple of outfits into something edgy and fun. Everyone from Jeffrey Campbell, Sam Edelman, Vince Camuto, Steve Madden, to high-end designers like Christian Louboutin are using spikes and studs to rock out their already beautiful footwear. Every girl’s shoe collection should have at least one pair of studded, jeweled, or spiked out shoes.

Perfume: a substance, extract, or preparation for diffusing or imparting an agreeable or attractive smell, especially a fluid containing fragrant natural oils extracted from flowers, woods, etc., or similar synthetic oils.

Perfume is a fragrance ACCENT and it’s not to be worn as an aroma mask. A woman’s perfume should be subtle, pleasing and even thought-provoking. Your perfume makes a very personal statement about the type of woman you are. Whether confident, sexy, independent, meek, bold, adventurous, flirty, fun, tomboyish, your perfume should speak before you get a chance to. You must remember to apply your fragrance in moderation. Personally I prefer roll-on over sprays because they are more for targeted use. Oil based perfumes are amazing. They a more potent and stay on much longer than regular alcohol based fragrances. Body sprays are also fun…they don’t last as long but they are much lighter in wear if you are aroma sensitive and don’t like heavier perfumes. Most importantly you must find scents that compliment your own personal body chemistry and will still allow your pheromones to seep through.

What would 2012 be without ridiculously GORGEOUS shoes? I have called on a few of my favorite shoe designer to help me with this very important part to the New Year, New Shoes part of my post. If you are an extreme shoe lover like I am you invest more in a beautiful well-made pair of pumps and less in a dress. Shoes and accessories make an outfit in my honest opinion. They are the difference between a t-shit & jeans with sneakers and the same outfit with Christian Louboutin‘s. Jessica Simpson has really stepped her shoe design game up if you’re looking for something just as flattering but more affordable. You may also want to consider shopping the shoe departments of Nordstrom ‘Rack’, Neiman Marcus ‘Last Call’, or Saks 5th Ave ‘Off 5th’ for great deals on designer fashions.

Have a fly, fab, & fashionable New Year…AV

#1 At least two scarves, one knit and one woven.

#2 A warm and form flattering coat, something that accentuates the waistline.

#3 A weather appropriate boot, something chic with a low heel, weather resistant and will protect your legs from the elements.

#4 A nice pair of gloves (leather is always nice).

#5 A LBD (little black dress), but for the colder months you should go for a longer sleeved dress that also has lining

#6 An umbrella that can withstand high winds preferably.

#7 A sexy heel that is comfortable and can be worn and not damaged by rain, snow, or salt. Try to stay away from suede unless its been treated.

#8 A heavy cardigan sweater is a necessity. They are warm and great for layering.

#9 Tights are my favorite part of the fall and winter months. They add so much pzazz to an outfit and they are very warm. It’s important that you have colored tights as well as the blacks, browns, and navies.

10# A faux fur vest. The fun thing about this item is it can be worn with jeans and a cute flannel, over a nice dress, or even with a light sweater and belted. They are warm and more people are going the animal friendly route.

The last pair I purchased were the black leather Lita with the brown wooden heel. I have yet to where them but I know I will be getting my money’s worth because they are not only fabulous but they are extremely comfortable. EXTREMELY! So if you are into unique shoes like I am you’ll definitely find a find in Jeffrey Campbell. What’s really cool about JC’s is their diversity. Most of the styles can be worn in various ways, with jeans, a skirt, shorts, tights, bare-legged or leggings, etc. It would be safe to say in my opinion Jeffrey Campbell is a very smart designer with a very bright future ahead, I give JC’s two snaps, a twist and a kiss…Ashley Vonne
