Am avut intentia de a participa la alegerile prezidentiale de anul acesta. Am pornit insa prea tarziu in cursa. Inca nu a venit timpul pentru miscarea noastra!

Romania-Datorie si Onoare , RODO, se transforma intr-un program pentru schimbarea statului si infaptuirea unor structuri noi in societate, astfel incat sa asiguram drepturile elementare pentru fiecare cetatean roman.

Fiti oameni liberi in constiinta si uniti-va! Viitorul trebuie sa apartina copiilor vostri intr-o societate normala, evoluata, civilizata. Vom incepe actiuni de formare a unor structuri la nivel local, in catune, sate si comune, cartiere ale oraselor, apoi in orase si judete.

Acesta a fost pasul prin care am semnalizat prezenta noastra in viata sociala. Aparitia unei filozofii politice noi pe baza valorilor umanismului si ale legilor armoniei, in respectul total al valorilor Romaniei. Aceasta va fi o constructie comuna, a noastra.

Alegerile prezidentiale au presupus  doi pasi majori, inscrierea si vizibilitatea. Pentru a depune liste cu 200,000 de sustinatori iti trebuie, dupa legea actuala, ori o structura in teritoriu, cum au partidele, ori structuri sindicale, ori 200,000 euro. Legea este complet nedemocrata si favorizeaza structurile. Sunt legi facute de ei pentru ei. Au venit si-au depus camioane de liste cu sustinatori. Acei un milion si jumatate de sustinatori ai fiecarui candidat sunt cei ce prind un loc de munca daca la putere ajunge grupul, asa zis de partid, care-l sustine pe candidat. Oamenii au ajuns la fel de conditionati ca pe vremea bolsevizarii Romaniei. Ceausescu a facut 50 generali intr-o zi, cand a terminat Transfagarasanul. E vreo diferenta? In doi ani de zile maresalii Armatei Romane vor fi egalati de bisnitari! Este rusinos si umilitor! Astept gestul de Onoare militara al unuia din generalii facuti acum, gest prin care sa-si predea steaua primita ca fiind nemeritata. Nu-i cer mai mult. Dar daca are un juramant depus pentru tara si are onoare militara, sa faca gestul acesta. Respectul pentru tara si pentru militarii din trupele aflate in Afganistan si Irak. Si-l voi saluta cu respect!

A doua conditie, a reusitei in campania electorala, este vizibilitatea media. In posturile cu maxima vizibilitate in domeniul politic si al stirilor, apar numai doi candidati si doua rezerve. O confruntare, Basescu vs Geoana cu prezentarea lui  Antonescu in postura de varianta pentru Geoana iar Oprescu o varianta pentru alegatorii nehotarati.

Moderatorii emisiunilor TV slugaresc din plin. N-am crezut ca ajung sa vad, dupa douazeci de ani de cand se clama TVR LIBERA,  realizatori TV slugarind din plin. Este umilitor si jignitor. Faptul ca in emisiunile TV nu mai apar altii e de la sine inteles. Emisiunile sunt puternic sustinute financiar. ‘Daca nu i-ar interesa banii ci propria atitudine, cele doua posturi, antena3 si realitatea ar scoate complet tot ce tine de pdl din emisiuni si ar da minimum de informatii, cerute de audiovizual. Daca ar vrea sa scape de Basescu ar fi foarte simplu. S-ar uni intr-o coalitie, PSD cu PNL cu UDMR, cu un candidat unic si, avand suportul media al celor doua posturi TV, plus structurile din teritoriu, plus banii din spatele lor.

Pentru ca daca veti alege raul, il certificati ca fiind “bun”. Ii dati girul. Noi am mai patit asta in 2000 and raul era Iliescu si “mai raul”era Vadim. Apoi, in 2004, raul era Basescu si “mai raul”era Nastase. Si am gesit iar. Daca insa veti vota “mai raul” veti ajunge ori in situatia sa-l inlaturati prin forta, ori sa il transformati in bun pentru ca el nu are varianta propriului pas.

Va multumesc pentru semnalele incurajatoare si pentru gandurile bune. Impreuna vom reusi. Probabil ca vremea noastra va veni odata cu prabusirea totala a statului existent.

I’m told that WordPress blogs are better at getting up the search engines than any others which would perhaps explain why there are currently an average of over 500 visitors per day. However over 100 of these are , I have to assume, are regular readers because that is the number who visit the site address as their first page and not specific pages within it.

So thanks for looking in,and thanks too for your comments and emails particularly at a time when posting is fairly light (by my standards anyway!)

It only seems like last Christmas Eve that the blog rocketed past 100,000 hits, and here it is today notching up its 200,000th visit. A big thankyou to everyone who comes round!

Today this blog went over 200,000 views!  Of course, you get all the credit because without you — and a couple of hundred-thousand others — Confessions of  a Small-Church Pastor would never have reached this milestone.  So, thanks for stopping by, or for reading by feedreader, or email, or Facebook, or Twitter, or however you check in.  Oh, and thanks for commenting, too — your comments help others, me included.

Laut ORICON wurden von Ai-chans 5.Album “LOVE LETTER” noch einmal 1695 CD’S verkauft, also hat es sich insgesamt schon 175,889 Mal verkauft. Im Vergleich zu ihren älteren Alben mehr als schlecht, aber es wäre trotzdem schön wenn sie die 200.000-Marke noch knacken könnte. Mehr als warscheinlich, aber nichtsdestrotz:

DO stämde Friskis & Svettis, Malmö

Det blev inte någon förlikning i det så kallade huvudduksmålet när parterna på torsdagen möttes i en muntlig förhandling i Arbetsdomstolen, AD.

Huvudförhandling är nu bestämd till november.

Grunden är att två muslimska kvinnor som varit timanställda på företaget ska ha utsatts för religiösa trakasserier av en chef, och även fått besked om att de inte kunde få fast anställning så länge de bar huvudduk.

Dessutom hävdar DO att högsta chefen inte agerat när han fick kännedom om vad som hänt, något han hade skyldighet att göra.

DO har också utkrävt skadestånd på vardera 100 000 kronor till de båda kvinnorna.

Syftet med den muntliga förhandlingen var att undersöka möjligheterna till förlikning men parterna kunde alltså inte komma överens.

Inför huvudförhandlingen som beräknas ta två dagar har AD också begärt in kompletterande handlingar från parterna. Det finns inte några formella hinder för en förlikning innan huvudförhandlingen inleds, men det sker i så fall utan domstolens medverkan.

Två muslimska kvinnor som varit anställda hos Friskis & Svettis i Malmö har utsatts för religiös diskriminering. Ombudsmannen mot etnisk diskriminering (DO) stämmer föreningen och kräver 100.000 kronor vardera i skadestånd till de båda kvinnorna.

Bakgrund

Två muslimska kvinnor som varit anställda på en Friskis & Svettisanläggning i Malmö har utsatts för religiösa trakasserier. Händelserna inträffade runt årsskiftet 2007-2008. Deras chef uttryckte sig vid upprepade tillfällen kränkande om kvinnornas religion. Bland annat fick de höra att de inte kunde få fast anställning så länge de bar huvudduk.

Den högsta chefen för verksamheten informerades om förhållandena på den lokala anläggningen men inga åtgärder vidtogs. De båda kvinnorna avslutade sina timanställningar på grund av missförhållandena på arbetsplatsen.

Enligt lagen är arbetsgivare skyldiga att både motverka och förebygga diskriminering av anställda. I det här fallet har den lokala chefen deltagit i trakasserier av de båda kvinnorna och den högsta chefen har inte agerat när han fått kännedom om det inträffade.

The best men and women in the world of snowboarding have been gathering at the Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont for the 27th US Open Snowboarding World Champioship – the action starts tonight at 6:15 p.m. with an invitational quarterpipe competition followed by a concert at 8:00 p.m. in the USO Sponsor Village at the Sunbowl.

Hardly surprising as it is one of the first snowboarding events in the world to offer male and female competitors equal winnings, the US Open’s prize purse includes over $200,000 in cash and prizes.

Thanks to US Open sponsor Volvo Cars North America, the Volvo Most Valuable Rider Award will go to the overall top male and female who will both drive away in brand new Volvo XC-60s. Amp Energy will be awarding riders a $3,000 cash prize each for men’s and women’s highest air in quarterpipe and men’s and women’s best trick in halfpipe. Also, as part of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour, the USO will play host to the presentation of the Men’s Swatch TTR World Tour Champion award. This prestigious honour and $50,000 cash will be awarded to the top male leading the 08/09 TTR ranking list.

This year’s Open features a different competition schedule than the past few years with all events and concerts taking place at the Sunbowl area of Stratton Mountain.  

Saturday, March 21st will feature men’s and women’s semi-final and final halfpipe competitions, an autograph session in the sponsor village, topped off with a concert immediately following the halfpipe awards presentation at 4:15 p.m. in the Sunbowl.

Sunday, March 22nd, will kick off with the junior jam halfpipe competition, followed by men’s and women’s slopestyle finals, after which three major titles will be awarded: the $100,000 Burton Global Open Series men’s and women’s title, the Volvo Most Valuable Rider Award and the Men’s Swatch TTR World Tour Champion award.

Does this man deserve to go to prison?

I’ve been struggling with this one.

Judge guilty of perjury

Former Australian Federal Court Judge, Marcus Einfeld, is currently in a sentencing hearing regarding perjury charges.  On 8 January 2006, Einfeld’s car was caught on a speed camera.  It’s an offence that attracts a meager AU$77 fine and a few demerit points (leaving him with just one point left).  Big deal.  But inexplicably, Einfeld gave a statement to police that another person, an American academic by the name of Dr Teresa Brennan, was the one behind the wheel.  The thing is, Dr Brennan died three years ago.  The truth was discovered and caused a media storm.  What started off as really a trivial offence has turned into guilty pleas for perjury and perversion of the course of justice, leading to potential jail time for Einfeld.

The question is, does he deserve to go? 

Arguments For Prison

First and foremost, the crimes of perjury and perverting the course of justice usually attract a full-time custodial sentence.  If other people who commit the same crime have to go to prison, then why not Einfeld?  If anything, it could be said that Einfeld’s situation was much worse because he is a person familiar with the law after having practiced for many years at the bar, and knew exactly what he was doing.  [It's actually quite devious because by blaming it on a person in an outside jurisdiction, he avoids the fine and demerit points and no one else gets it.]

As the prosecution put it: “He was a person who actually sat in judgment on other persons who had committed a similar, analogous offence and sentenced people to prison for their criminality.”  In 2001, in a judgment Einfeld delivered, he called perjury a crime that was “at best arrogant, and at worst a complete rejection of law and order”.  So how can a person who sent people to jail for perjury now ask the Court to not send him to jail for the same crime?

Further, according to the prosecution, when Einfeld attended court to contest the driving offence, his lawyer purposely referred to him as “Justice” Einfeld, even though he wasn’t a judge anymore.  The object of this, they claim, was to impress the magistrate using his former judicial position.  He also used the media to profess his innocence, hiring a public relations officer and issuing a statement from his chambers which was untrue.  Moreover, he only pleaded guilty to the charges a few days before the start of the trial, suggesting a possible lack of contrition.

Another thing that came to light was the fact that Einfeld still received over AU$200,000 a year in pension payments for being a former judge.  Since the perjury revelations, Einfeld has also been accused of various other things which discredit his character, such as padding his CV, purchasing doctorates from US diploma mills and plagiarism.

Arguments Against Prison

Einfeld’s defence said there should be “flexibility” in deciding whether or not to send the former judge to jail.  They put forward a string of mitigating circumstances and reasons why he should be spared a prison sentence, including:

• he has been serving the community for the majority of his working life as a judge;
• he has done substantial good in the community, including: serving as Austcare embassador for refugees and UNICEF embassador for children, being awarded the UN Association of Australia Founders’ Award for contribution to justice and human rights, and has been a spokesperson for Jewish and Israeli causes (including positions in various Jewish organisations) and other minority groups;
• he has already suffered through the intense media scrutiny and his reputation has been completely ruined;
• he has been struck off the roll of legal practitioners and there are intentions to strip him of his Order of Australia;
• as suggested by a psychiatrist, he is suffering from depression and is embarrassed about his loss of control over his bladder and bowel, and a custodial sentence could worsen the situation, including the potential for suicide; and
• he is suffering from prostate cancer.

Einfeld’s attorney claims that: “Mr Einfeld has done more for his fellow man than anyone I know or have ever met.”  He asks the court to consider the crime against the good he had done his entire life.

Thoughts

Putting aside the legal arguments (which I am not entirely across), does Einfeld deserve to go to prison from a moral perspective?  Should he go to jail as a matter of justice?

In the beginning, I was all for Einfeld going to prison.  A man who supposedly dedicated his life to justice ought to be punished for the way he blatantly disregarded the law, knowing perfectly well that what he was committing was a very serious crime that could lead to jail time.  His actions stunk of arrogance, thinking that it would be easy to get off by pushing the offence onto someone who wasn’t in the country (and dead).  His former life as a judge only aggravates the crime.

So what if his life is ruined by media scrutiny?  He wouldn’t be the first, and in this case, it was completely his own doing.  So what if he suffers from depression?  50% of inmates in the prison system suffer from some form of mental illness, and depression is no doubt high on the list.  Furthermore, it’s not like he would be blocked from health care in prison, which still provides health services to sick inmates.

But on the other hand, you see a man who has, no doubt, done a lot of good in his life.  Various groups, including Palestinians, Soviet Jews, Solomon Islanders and Australia’s Aborigines testified as to the things Einfeld did to make their lives better.  Moreover, he would not be the first to lie about a traffic camera offence.  Hundreds of people do it every year, shifting the demerit points to their partners, parents, children, siblings and friends.  They see it as no big deal, and the vast majority simply get away with it without fuss.  It doesn’t make what he did right, but perhaps he was just unlucky (and stupid for picking a dead person) – because if it were any other ordinary person, nothing might have happened.  Furthermore, his actions don’t harm anyone but himself – unless you consider undermining public confidence in the justice system a harm!

So what do you think?  Should Einfeld go to prison for perjury?  Should his former role as a judge mean a more lenient sentence, or does it justify a harsher one?

[Update: the hearing has been adjorned to 20 March 2009, by which time Justice James should have a decision on Einfeld's sentencing.  There was a particularly damaging opinion piece in the Sydney Morning Herald written by Paul Sheehan that was singled out by Einfeld's lawyers.  Read it, I think you will understand why.  It was described as a "nasty, vicious stunt".  Some of it was probably unnecessary (for example, his apparent leniency towards immigrants), but it did reveal some more (of what I hope are) truths about the former judge (especially his past efforts to avoid traffic fines).]

Aclarado esto, considero los hechos de la siguiente forma: Lo que Ud. ofrece, visto desde la perspectiva de un hombre como el que Ud .  busca, es simplemente un pésimo negocio. He aquí el porqué:
Dejando los rodeos de lado, lo que Ud. propone es un simple negocio. Ud. pone la belleza física y yo pongo el dinero.
Propuesta clara, sin entrelíneas. Sin embargo existe un problema.
Con seguridad, su belleza va a decaer y un día va a terminar, y lo más probable es que mi dinero continúe creciendo. Así, en términos económicos Ud. es un activo que sufre depreciación y yo soy un activo que paga dividendos. Ud. no sólo sufre depreciación, sino que como ésta es progresiva, no para de   aumentar! Aclarando más, Ud. tiene hoy 25 años y va a continuar siendo linda durante los próximos 5/10 años, pero siempre un poco menos cada año, y de repente si se compara con una foto de hoy, verá que ya estará envejecida. Esto quiere decir, que Ud. está hoy en ‘alza’, en la época ideal de ser vendida, no de ser comprada.
Usando lenguaje de Wall Street, quien la tiene hoy,   debe de tenerla en ‘trading position’ (posición para comercializar), y no en ‘buy and hold’ (comprar y mantener), que es para lo que Ud. se ofrece.. Por lo tanto, en términos comerciales, un matrimonio (comprar para mantener) con Ud. no es un buen negocio a medio/largo plazo, pero sin embargo el arrendamiento podría ser en términos sociales un negocio razonable, algo   que podría llegar a meditar y pretender.
Es más, pienso que mediante certificación de cuán ‘bien formada, con clase y maravillosamente linda’ es, en un futuro cercano yo mismo   podría ciertamente estar interesado en alquilar esa ‘máquina’, si bien antes de ello me gustaría probarla como es práctica habitual en cualquier actividad comercial. En otras palabras, no me importaría hacer una prueba o ‘test drive…’ para terminar de concretar la operación de arrendamiento.
Si quiere me puedo ir apuntando una hora en mi agenda.

VÍA LA CRÓNICA DE VALDEJALÓN

El Ayuntamiento de Ricla va a destinar una partida de 200.000 euros en 2009 para empezar a construir el Museo de Paleontología, según se acordó en el pleno extraordinario del 16 de diciembre. El acuerdo se adoptó de urgencia al estar a punto de expirar el convenio firmado con la empresa Consipro a principios de 2007 para impulsar este proyecto, que “colea” en el municipio desde hace aproximadamente una década. “Ahora teníamos que continuar o echar atrás el convenio”, resumía el alcalde Francisco Romeo, y “tenemos un compromiso moral con Consipro”.

El Museo de Paleontología se va a construir en el edificio conocido como Casa Sánchez que, en su día, compró el ayuntamiento gracias a una subvención de la comarca. En un principio se pensó mantener la estructura de este edificio y, con este motivo, a principios del año pasado se demolió el interior y se preparó el terreno para la futura estructura. Desde entonces el local ha permanecido así, sólo con las paredes, lo que hoy en día también constituye un peligro. “Básicamente queremos demoler lo que queda del edificio para evitar riesgos de derrumbe y empezar la obra dando continuidad a un proyecto ilusionante”, explicó el alcalde sobre el destino de la partida presupuestaria asignada para 2009.

En el tiempo que ha pasado se ha realizado una modificación del proyecto redactado para el museo. El motivo es que en el anterior contemplaba levantar tres plantas en una esquina que sobresale de la calle que mejores vistas ofrece de la torre y de la iglesia, obstaculizando esta imagen. Además, se ha querido aprovechar el paisaje de la parte trasera del futuro museo incluyendo la construcción de un mirador hacia la huerta de Ricla.

La idea de construir un Museo de la Paleontología se gestó hace aproximadamente una década respaldada por el patrimonio fósil de este municipio donde, cada dos años, se organizan unas prestigiosas jornadas científicas dedicadas a esta área. Desde entonces se han barajado varias propuestas, como hacer un edificio nuevo para esta finalidad. En la anterior legislatura se compró la Casa de los Sánchez con este objetivo y, en 2009, diez años después, parece que el proyecto se va a empezar a hacer realidad.

Así es, llegue  a esa cifra, solo me queda agradecer a mis lectores, uno que otro es frecuente, y la mayoría no deja un comentario, no importa malditos están perdonados =P igual se agradece; y claro, como no agradecer a WordPress por el hosting gratuito y además el CMS mas funcional y bonito de toda la web, no como blogspot otros que tiene el  panel de administración mas horrible que he visto, también a su comunidad y el hecho que mi blog sea rápidamente indexado razón por la cual estuve varias veces en TopBlogs y TopPost de wordpress además de estar una vez en “Mensaje Atractivo” en la portada de wordpress

Socialism at its best! America voted Barack Obama into office, and in doing so have told him that America is ready for his socialist tax plans.

I find myself wondering, however, whether or not Obama checked with his friends in the Senate before running on this “higher taxes for the rich” platform?  How willing are all these Senators making well over $200,000 a year to part with their money? Sure, some of them are hardcore believers in his tax plans, and I’m certain that they will feel “more patriotic” for giving up a larger piece of their wealth for “the good of the country”. But I’m willing to bet that some of those Democrats are going to hold on to their dollars just as hard as the rest of us are. Obama can’t pass his socialist tax plan if he doesn’t get enough votes!

Perhaps the greed of the Democrats will be the black-sheep saviour that keeps us from the grasp of a socialist, wealth-spreading government. It’s only a small light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s a light nonetheless.

$120,000 must be the new $150,000, no, it’s the new $200,000, no, the new $250,000. Huh??

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, in a radio interview on Denver, Colorado radio station 850 KOA today stated that people with incomes under $120,000 would receive tax cuts:

After months of stating that Obama would give tax cuts to “all working families” that made less than $250,000, that number has changed four, perhaps five times this week.

Those numbers for people who will have tax bulls-eyes tacked to their foreheads just keeps changing. In the whole “spreading” or redistributing the wealth scheme, those who will have their wealth “spread around” seem to be making less and less from one day to the next.

On Wednesday, “Oh, That’s Just Joe Being Joe” Joe Biden said the Obama-Biden tax plan would lower taxes for everyone making less than $150,000:

Perhaps in a “slow economy” or “financial crisis”, we just need to redefine the definition of “rich”. Wednesday, apparently, rich was $150,000, during Obama’s thirty minute indoctromercial, it was $200,000.

Perplexed by the four different numbers now floating, Fox News Stuart Varney, filling in on Neil Cavuto’s Your World, invited an Obama spokeswoman on to clear things up.

Miss Law seems to lower the threshold now to $45,000 – $50,000 if I get anythinng that makes any sense out of what she said.

If Mr. Obama, his running mate, a former Ambassador to the U.N. and sitting governor, or his “spokeswoman” can’t walk a straight line, let us do so here. Let’s examine some of the ways in which Miss Law tried to tap dance around directly clarifying which particular number is the one we are to believe:

1. $150,000 and $120,000 were amounts used because they fall inside $250,000, and so does $200,000
2. It’s not Mr. Obama who stated anything but $250,000, it was Joe Biden, and Governor Richardson
3. Since it wasn’t Mr. Obama himself, we’d have to ask Joe Biden and Gov. Richardson what they meant
4. Gov. Richardson and Sen. Biden were just saying those particular amounts because of the people they were talking to probably don’t make more than those amounts of money
5. Mr. Obama did say $250,000 and then $200,000, but that’s not equivocating
6. The discrepancies in amounts just reflect the struggle to define what “middle-class” is
7. Middle-class is really $45,000 – $50,000

Miss Law really cleared things up, didn’t she? Let’s see if we understand her correctly, taking these explanations, one at a time and correcting the circular logic:

1. It’s not a question of what falls inside the amount in question, and that’s not the context or language that was used by any of the speakers. It’s a question of where the threshold lies.
2. First, it was Mr. Obama who was among those confusing the issue. But also, if a candidate or campaign sends out someone to speak on their behalf, they are obligated to have their facts straight. If they don’t have those facts straight, don’t send them out. If they say something that represents the candidate’s point of view, we will take the person at face value. Otherwise, the candidate himself should call a press conference and clear things up. Besides, since Miss Law was speaking on the campaigns behalf, hence the word, “spokeswoman”, are we not to believe anything she says either.
3. We don’t need to ask Biden or Richardson anything. They already spoke. Were they rogues out there without campaign permission? Can we have Miss Law’s cell phone number so we can call and ask her what she meant?
4. So the campaign is admitting that they say things to different people in different places?
5. Huh?? Then what the heck is it?
6. The discussion is not regarding the “struggle to define middle-class”, it’s an effort to nail down a dollar amount at which certain incomes will be taxed higher and others given cuts. Apparently we are being clearly told that until the “struggle” is resolved, we’re not going to be clear on that murky middle-class definition. Hence, the threshold for “rich” is TBD. In other words, we won’t really know what the amount is until after Sen. Obama is elected.
7. Now we’re getting down to it. That $45,000 figure is suspiciously like the $41,600 figure we’d heard about earlier in the campaign: Sen. Obama had at one point in the U.S. Senate voted to raise taxes on  people with incomes above that amount.

Let us examine the definition of the word “equivocate”, courtesy of Merriam-Webster’s:

equiv·o·cate

1 : to use equivocal language especially with intent to deceive 2 : to avoid committing oneself in what one says

2 : to avoid committing oneself in what one says

Seems like the whole loopy discussion is the definition of “equivocate”.

Finally, let’s move totally into the land of common sense and sound reasoning. Is there any real doubt about what’s going on here? We’re being bombarded with so many amounts at this stage, so later, if elected President Obama can stake a claim on whichever amount is most convenient.

It used to be that according to Barack Obama, if you made less than $250,000 per year, you would not see an increase in taxes. Now, in his latest ad, Obama has lowered that to $200,000 and maybe even $150,000 if we are to believe Joe Biden.

And in Pennsylvania yesterday, Joe Biden said that tax relief should only go to “middle class people — people making under 150,000 dollars a year.”

It looks like Obama and Biden are finally fessing up to how much they will really have to gouge the American worker to pay for all that wealth redistribution they have planned. Chances are, anyone making over $42,000 per year is going to get gouged even further.
