As you can see form the Aston martin’s line up the volume seller is the DB9, making it the most important car in the lineup, as it also has the highest profit margin. The current DB9 was introduced to the world back in 2004 and has only needed and received some lip stick and mascara since then.  Sure the lights and rims have been updates and on the inside the Sat Nav and most of the Ford-esk switches and dials have been replaced.

This new 2013 car seems to have larger front air inlets that are pushed further out to the corners of the car. In addition to slimmer headlights that include Virage look alike LED running lights and the hood gets a few more character lines and larger vents.  Around back we find an Aston Martin One-77 inspired rear fender bulge, as well as large exhaust outlets and unique trunk lid spoiler.

Under the hood we are expecting to see a 6.0-liter V12 engine and that is where the facts end and the guessing begins.  We can’t imagine that it would continue to be tuned to 470 hp like in the current model. However would Aston Martin be as brazened to increase to the same level of the 510 hp V12 engine found under the hood of the top of the range DBS? We hope so but then the other fly in the ointment is that the Virage is only tuned to 490 hp.  We will make you a deal when the final figures are released we will let you know. One thing that we will cast in stone is that all of that power will feed the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual or automatic gear box.

Expect to see the official announcement of the DB9 coupe and convertible to be released sometime this year at an auto show, with it being sold in show rooms in 2013.  We wouldn’t also rule out a name change as the car could evolve to inherit the DB10 or even DB11 moniker.

A meaner looking wire mesh front grill,

Large Jaguar R inspired hood mounted vents,

New Virage inspired headlights,

A bold and aggressive side profile that showcases a deeply recessed door scallop,

Ground hugging side skirts that match the new aggressive front spliter

And a taller more pronounced rear trunk spoiler?

If you answered the new 2013 Aston Martin DB9 you would be correct.

The new DB9 was spot leaving a competitive testing session which had it pitted against a Ferrari 599 and Mercedes-Bens SLS AMG.  I can only imagine the noise that session would have been producing no wonder they got caught by Motor Authority’s  spy photographers.
