Mercedes-Benz has announced that it has taken over the Brawn Formula 1 team and re-named it Mercedes Grand Prix after buying a 75.1 per cent stake in the squad.

The German car giant will retain its role as McLaren’s engine supplier until at least 2015, but will sell its 40 per cent stake in the squad back to the team over the next two years.

“Mercedes will compete in the F1 world championship next year starting with its own factory team,” said head of Mercedes cars, Dr Dieter Zetsche.

“This is possible by the agreed acquisition of 75.1 per cent of Brawn GP, 45.1 per cent from Daimler and 30 per cent from our partner Aabar Investments. The rest will be with the current share – Ross Brawn, Nick Fry and other members. The interests of Daimler are aligned therefore it will be a true Mercedes-Benz team.

“Ross Brawn will continue to be the team principal and thereby we are maintaining his strength. Just like the engine team at Mercedes Benz High Performance Engines, the new Mercedes Benz grand prix team will be co-ordinated by Mercedes Benz Motorsport which is as everybody knows headed by Norbert Haug.”

The team will be run out of Brawn’s current headquarters in Brackley, rather than from a new facility.

Team principal Brawn said that he could not have imagined such a partnership happening 11 months ago when Honda announced it was pulling out of F1, leading to a winter of uncertainty for the squad that was soon to become Brawn.

“Both I and my fellow directors at Brawn GP are incredibly proud of our staff, drivers and everyone associated with our team and thank them for their commitment, outstanding teamwork and their focus on achieving results in sometimes difficult circumstances,” he said.

“The senior management group will remain in place to lead our team and on behalf of everyone at Brawn GP, we are honoured to be representing such a prestigious brand as Mercedes-Benz in Formula One next year and will be working together to do our best to reward their faith in our team.”

The deal means that Mercedes will compete in Formula 1 as a full factory team for the first time since Juan Manuel Fangio won the world title in 1955.

Neither driver has yet been announced for the new squad. 2009 driver Rubens Barrichello has already joined Williams for next season while Jenson Button has yet to decide on his future.

AUTOSPORT understands that Nico Rosberg will be one of Mercedes’ drivers, while the company’s motorsport chief Norbert Haug said on Sunday that discussions have taken place with former BMW Sauber driver Nick Heidfeld.

Based on the 12^th Summit Meeting in Cebu(Philiphine) in August 2006,The whole ASEAN countries decided and agreed to reschedule the ASEAN Community(AC) that was scheduled in 2020 to 2015.The Creation of AC must comprise three pillars which are political and security cooperation,economic cooperation and socio-cultural cooperation.These components are so intertwined that none of them can stand alone and each remains a potential barrier to be crossed.The Question remains : How can AC be achieved in 2015 with the unstable condition of socio-cultural and security cooperation?

ASEAN Leaders know that economics cooperation is the easiest part to be done.There are clear examples,ways,mechanisms,and also theories.We can say and see there are tarriff cuts,harmonisation of custom standards,and inflation handling.The whole ASEAN members have agreed to realize the ASEAN Economic Community(AEC) by 2015.Even the new ASEAN members especially Vietnam and Cambodia are moving at speed to integrate with both ASEAN and the world economics.The Progress of Cambodia and Vietnam actually shows how ASEAN successfully managed and maintaned the organization in the economic cooperation.Nowadays,with all ASEAN members joining World Trade Organization(excluding Lao PDR),this will further strengthen economic cooperation within the group.In addition,the cooperation of ASEAN with its partners such as Australia,New Zealand and Japan are proceeding well.

Economic is the main and vital component of an organization to be called a strong organization.Without the strong economic,an organization will be as good as dead.ASEAN has succeed in doing and building the economic cooperation in South East Asia Region up to this second.But,the question still remains : Will the next generation be able to keep it that way?The youth have to take a part in the economic development.Perhaps,by training or socialization of how to manage the organization and how to handle the organization can help.Because afterall,the one who will take control of the organization is the youth.So that,we have to do socialization and persuade the people to take a part in the ASEAN community programs for the continuation and also betterment of the organization.The continuation of this organization depends on the youth.Good or bad,failed or succeed,it all depends on the youth that will take control in the future.

ASEAN officials admit that the security and socio-cultural barriers are more difficult to overcome.Up to this point,ASEAN security and political cooperation is focused on highly selective issues of common concern.In my point of view,ASEAN is too obsessed with sovereignty,eventhough the concept of a borderless world is an increasing topic discussion.ASEAN members continue with their self-centered political security views,failed to make mutual compromise for the groups’s collective security needs.They keep trying to secure their country by their own hands even though they know that it will be easier to do that together.But they are to afraid of military intervention that might lead to several deadly conflicts.ASEAN should learn from regional groups in Latin America and Africa that have enjoyed common security and foreign policies eventhough their members have divergent views and concerns.

Up until now,ASEAN haven’t done pretty well job in developing the security cooperation because of the divergent point of views of each ASEAN countries.Well,these behavior and way of thinking will be so hard to overcome now because we can’t change the past.What do we need to do is to look forward for a brighter security cooperation and to trust the youth.The youth should have the good way of thinking like the regional group in Latin America and Africa so that ASEAN can provide a good security for its members because we are still fragile to stand alone.

The ASEAN socio-culture question is equally complex.ASEAN wants to establish a caring society.It’s actually good on paper but when it comes to practical implementation,ASEAN falls flat on the floor.How can ASEAN be a caring society if its members don’t respect Human Rights/Human Security.I don’t know why but it seems that most of the ASEAN members don’t care.Until now,that problem remains elussive.The thing that should be done to solve the problem is democracy/openness.

We need to take an affirmative action to solve these socio-cultural and security cooperation issues so that these problems could be solved.Since we can’t change the past,what we can do is preparing ourselves for the future.We need a good generation of the youth to persuade society and develop the society.We have to prepare ourselves to make a competitive and high quality Human Resources.We have to cut the border.We have to blend diversity into beauty.We have to show the world that ASEAN kids rock!Because we have grown together in South East Asia as a union.We have lived together and we have tasted the pain together as one.So that,no country should be left behind that can conduct the social gap between a developed country and developing country. We got to grow as one,as union,as a family that can be something to the world,that can do diplomatic action rather than war,that can be the peace maker.

Last of All,I want to give an analogy about ASEAN.ASEAN is a well grown trees consist of 10 branches.But,if we have a look deeper,we can see that it’s still fragile,there are still some holes on each branches.It still needs to ber fertilized,watered,and protected until we can see the blossoms spread out all over the world and bring the beauty towards the society.And the only thing that can make that happen is simply by making the ASEAN Community 2015 succeed because it’s the key to a brighter future.

Pretty interesting stuff, although I must say that most technologies in the movie, like social networks, RSS, augmented reality and the likes already exist today and will just become smarter, get improved. The true innovation is in the intergration of all these platforms into one system.

3. Uma escola de samba vai homenagear os jogos, rimando “barão de coubertin” com “sol da manhã”. Gilberto Gil virá no ultimo carro alegórico vestido de lantejoulas douradas representando o “espírito olímpico do carioca visitando a corte do Olimpo num dia de sol ao raiar do fogo da vitoria”.

4. Haverá um concurso pra nomear a mascote dos jogos que será um desenho misturando um índio, o sol do Rio, o Pão de Açúcar e o carnaval, criado por Hans Donner. Os finalistas terão nomes como: “Zé do Olimpo”, “Chico Tochinha” e “Kaíque Maratoninha” .

5. Luciano Huck vai eleger a Musa dos jogos, concurso que durará um ano e elegerá uma modelo chamada Kathy Mileine Suellen da Silva.

Abertura dos jogos

1. A tocha olímpica será roubada ao passar pela baixada fluminense. O COB vai encomendar outra em urgência pro carnavalesco da Beija flor.

2. Zeca Pagodinho, Dudu Nobre e a bateria da Mangueira farão um show na praia de Copacabana pra comemorar a chegada do fogo olímpico ao Rio. Por motivo de segurança, Zeca Pagodinho será impedido de ficar a menos de 500 metros da tocha.

3. Durante o percurso da tocha, os brasileiros vão invadir a rua e correr ao lado dela carregando cartolinas cor de rosa onde se lê GALVAO FILMA NÓIS, 100% FAVELA DO RATO MOLHADO.

4. Pelé vai errar o nome do presidente do COI, discursar em inglês de merda elogiando o povo carioca, e ao final vai tropeçar no carpete que foi colado 15 minutos antes do início da cerimônia.

5. Claudia Leite e Ivete Sangalo vão cantar o “Hino das Olimpíadas” composto por Latino e MC Medalha. As duas vão duelar durante a música para aparecer mais na TV.

6. Durante o Hino Nacional Brasileiro a platéia vai errar a letra, chorar como se entendesse o que está cantando, e aplaudir no final como se fosse um gol.

7. Uma brasileira vai ser filmada varias vezes com um top amarelo, um shortinho verde e a bandeira do Brasil pintada na bochecha. Depois dos jogos ela posará pra Playboy sem o top e sem o shortinho, e com a bandeira pintada na bunda.

8. Por falta de gás na última hora, já que a cerimônia só foi ensaiada durante a madrugada, a pira não vai funcionar. Zeca Pagodinho será o substituto temporário já que a Brahma é um dos patrocinadores. Em entrevista ao Fantástico ele dirá que não se lembra direito do fato.

9. 74 passistas de fio-dental vão iniciar a cerimônia mostrando o legado cultural do Rio ao mundo: a bala perdida, o tráfico, o funk e a favela.

10. Durante os jogos de tênis a platéia brasileira vai vaiar os jogadores argentinos obrigando o árbitro a pedir silencio 774 vezes. Como ele pedirá em inglês ninguém vai entender e vai continuar vaiando. Galvão Bueno vai dizer que vaiar é bom, mas vaiar os argentinos é melhor ainda. Oscar concordará e depois pedirá desculpas chorando no programa do Gugu.

11. Um simpático cachorro vira-lata furará o esquema de segurança invadindo o desfile da delegação jamaicana. Será carregado por um dos atletas e permanecerá no gramado do Maracanã durante toda a cerimônia. Será motivo de 200 reportagens, apelidado de Marley, e será adotado por uma modelo emergente que ficará com dó do pobre animalzinho e dirá que ele é gente como a gente.

12. Adriane Galisteu posará pra capa de CARAS ao lado do grande amor da sua vida, um executivo do COB.

13. Os pombos soltos durante a cerimônia serão alvejados por tiros disparados por uma favela próxima e vendidos assados na saída do maracanã por “dois real”.

Durante os jogos

1. Caetano Veloso dará entrevista dizendo que o Rio é lindo, a cerimônia de abertura foi linda e que aquele negão da camiseta 74 da seleção americana de basquete é mais lindo ainda.

2. Uma modelo-manequim- piranha-atriz- exBBB vai engravidar de um jogador de hóquei americano. Sua mãe vai dar entrevista na Luciana Gimenez dizendo que sua filha era virgem até ontem, apesar de ter namorado 74 homens nos últimos seis meses, e que o atleta americano a seduziu com falsas promessas de vida nos EUA. Após o nascimento do bebê ela posará nua e terá um programa de fofocas numa rede de TV.

3. No primeiro dia os EUA, a China e o Canadá já somarão 74 medalhas de ouro, 82 de prata e 4 de bronze. Os jornalistas brasileiros vão dizer a cada segundo que o Brasil é esperança de medalha em 200 modalidades e certeza de medalha em outras 74.

4. Faltando 3 dias para o fim dos jogos, o Brasil terá 3 medalhas de bronze e 1 de ouro, esta ganha por atletas desconhecidos no esporte “caiaque em dupla”. Eles vão ser idolatrados por 15 minutos (somando todas as emissoras abertas e a cabo) como exemplos de força e determinação, a Hebe vai dizer que eles são “uma gracinha” ao posar mordendo a medalha, e nunca mais se ouvirá deles.

5. A seleção brasileira de futebol comandada por Ronaldo Fenômeno vai chegar como favorita. Passara fácil pela primeira fase e entrará de salto alto na fase final, perdendo para seleção de Sumatra.

6. A seleção americana de vôlei visitará uma escola patrocinada pelo Criança Esperança. Três meninos vão ganhar uma bola e um uniforme completo dos jogadores, sendo roubados e deixados pelados no dia seguinte.

7. Os traficantes da Rocinha vão roubar aquele pó branco que os ginastas passam na mão. Um atleta cubano será encontrado morto numa boate do Baixo Leblon depois de cheirá-lo. Após os jogos

1. Um boxeador brasileiro negro de 1,85m estrelará um filme pornô pra pagar as despesas que teve pra estar nos jogos e não obteve patrocínio.

Nokia Key- putting info from one phone to another. Seems a bit outdated to have to use a physical object to transfer content you want. Unless this”key” is just meant to be a SIM card of the future. Otherwise, couldn’t you just do some bluetooth jazz and transfer via contact?

By now I’m sure most of you have heard about Toronto being the host to the Pan Am games in 2015. This is very exciting and a huge step forward for Canada. Let’s hope that this will bring more focus to summer Olympic sport in Canada and that this nation will be revived like it is for Vancouver 2010.

Nesta sexta-feira, a Odepa – Organização Desportiva Pan-Americana – decide qual cidade será a sede dos Jogos Panamericanos de 2015. Bogotá (Colômbia), Lima (Peru) e Toronto (Canadá) são as candidatas (clique nos logos acima para acesso aos sites oficiais).

Atualmente a Odepa tem 42 países-membros. Para fazer parte da entidade, um país das Américas deve ter um Comitê Olímpico Nacional reconhecido pelo COI. Cada um desses comitês olímpicos nacionais tem direito a ser representado por dois delegados (um titular e um suplente) nas Assembléias Gerais da Odepa, como a que ocorre nesta semana.

Lima gastará menos com os Jogos, cerca de 300 milhões de doláres, ante os 380 milhões de dólares colombianos e o 1 bilhão de dólares prometidos pelos canadenses.

Por essas e outras, Toronto desponta como favorita, mas o “fator América do Sul”, fresco na memória do mundo olímpico, pode garantir o Pan de 2015 a Bogotá ou Lima, sendo que a capital do Peru leva uma desvantagem, para além da implicação econômica: o comitê organizador peruano prometeu não cobrar direitos de transmissão para os países pobres, o que levou irritação para a cúpula da Opepa.

A eleição é importante para o Brasil, por ser uma competição que o corre um ano antes dos Jogos do Rio, sendo que o Pan sempre foi mesmo um laboratório para os atletas latinos das Américas.

Carlos Nuzman, presidente do Co-Rio, está em Guadalajara, no México, onde acontece a assembléia da Odepa. O brasileiro apresentará o cronograma de ação para 2010 e fará um agradecimento especial aos membros da entidade.

Tokijski Univerzitet planira da otvori biblioteku mangi u cilju podsticanja ozbiljnog izučavanja japanskog stripa. U ovoj Međunarodnoj Manga biblioteci nalaziće se dva miliona stripova, crteža, video igara i ostalih dela iz oblasti animacije, prenosi BBC. Otvaranje biblioteke se planira za 2015. godinu, u okviru Meiji Univerziteta.

“Manga je olako shvatana u prošlosti, pa ne postoje arhive za ozbiljnije izučavanje. Mi želimo da pomognemo akademske studije mangi kao dela japanske kulture”, prokomentarisala je Susumi Šibao sa Univerziteta. Biblioteka će biti dostupna i fanovima bez akademskih pretenzija, iz Japana i inostranstva.

Krajem ovog meseca biće otvorena i memorijalna biblioteka mangi i subkulture posvećena Jošiniro Jonezavi, kritičaru mangi, koja će sadržati oko 140. 000 stripova.

Karakteristični stil mangi usko je povezan sa korišćenjem drvenih pločica za crtanje u 18. i 19. veku, poznatih kao ukiyo, na kojima su često ismevani prizori japanskog urbanog života.

Manga stripovi se van Japana obično vezuju za naučnu fantastiku i fantaziju, ali manga obuhvata mnogo šire opseg žanrova – od književnosti do sapunica.

North Carolina Adidas Junior Phenom 150 Camp

This past weekend I traveled down to beautiful North Carolina to check out the Adidas 150 Phenom Camp. There was a nice amount of talent scattered throughout the different gyms on Forsyth Country Day School campus. The event was very well organized and ran on-time which is always a great plus when going and covering these type of events.

Some of the top talent in this event included:

Will Saunders (NW Guilford HS, NC) 6′4 (SG) Class of 2010

Saunders was a very impressive athlete at this event using his athleticism to score a ton of buckets. He consistently scores on high flying dunks throughout the showcase along with a smooth looking jumper out beyond the arc. He plays with a ton of energy on both ends of the floor, well also doing a good job on the boards.

Andrew White (Thomas Dale HS, VA) 6′5 (SG) Class of 2011

White is a very long athletic combo between shooting guard and wing. He is a big time leaper and shot blocker. He also scores in many different ways from a smooth mid-range jumper to in the post with his back to the basket. White is also very aggressive on the boards and sees the floor well. He is a little under the radar right now as national recruitment stands but look for him to blow up in the near future.

DaShawn Stitt (Phoebus HS, VA) 6′8 (PF) Class of 2011

Stitt was one of the most impressive prospects at this event showcasing his ability to run the floor like a deer and finish strong inside. He also altered or blocked many shots on the defensive end. He played aggressive throughout the camp and also showed his ability to play with his back to the basket along with his athleticism to go up and catch anything near the rim and dunk it. He has a ton of upside to his game.

Juan Young (Northwood HS, NC) 6′3 (SG) Class of 2011

Young is a very athletic shooting guard who excelled in the open floor using his speed and hops to finish at the rim time after time. He did a great job crashing the boards on both ends of the floor and starting the break. Young has long arms and quick hands that help him be an excellent defender. He scored in bunches from all over the floor during this event.

Antonio Farmer (Northwood HS, NC) 6′5 (PF) Class of 2011

Farmer is very raw basketball skill wise; his high school coach mentioned he has only been playing the game for three years. He is an undersized power forward that is very aggressive on the boards and altering/blocking shots. Farmer tries to dunk everything he gets on the inside. He is a very athletic player who can jump out of the gym with a 42” inch vertical and has excellent hands. When he learns how to play the game and adds a consistent jumper his stock should soar.

Tyler Lewis (Forsyth Country Day School, NC) 5′10 (PG) Class of 2012

Lewis is a crafty pass first point guard who has excellent court vision and a high basketball I.Q. He also can score the ball in bunches with a nice mid-range jumper and shifty drives to the basket. He already holds a handful of division 1 offers. He puts perfect touch on almost every pass he makes and is a real pleasure to watch compete.

T.J. Warren (Durham Riverside, NC) 6′5 (SF) Class of 2012

Warren is a long athletic wing who uses his athleticism to put the ball in the hole from an array of different spots on the floor. He is also very skilled with the ball in his hands on the break playing under control and making sound decisions. He already has a nice mid-range jumper with range out behind the arc. Warren has a lot of upside which should have the colleges knocking down his door.

Willie Mangum (John Marshall HS, VA) 6′1 (CG) Class of 2012

Mangum is a very strong scoring guard who can get to the rim and finish inside with shifty moves. He can also knock down the mid-range jumper on a consistent basis. Mangum also does a good job on the boards and finding the open teammates on the break.

Adam Coble (NW Guilford HS, NC) 6′7 (PF) Class of 2012

Coble is a throwback player who is very fundamentally sound, he doesn’t try to do anything out of his limitations on the floor. He runs the floor well and has great hands along with finishing strong inside. Coble also does a good job on the boards and is able to start the break.

Andrew Rowsey (Rockbridge HS, VA) 5′9 (PG) Class of 2013

Rowsey is a shifty point guard who has a sweet outside jumper and a little flair in his game. He has a good feel for the game at this stage, he also is able to penetrate the lane and find a teammate open or finish. He is a solid pass first point guard who if he keeps growing could translate into a big time player.

Troy Williams (Phoebus, VA) 6′4 (SG) Class of 2013

Williams is a player that possesses a ton of upside in his game. He is still pretty raw offensively but is able to still make some jaw dropping plays just based on his athleticism. Williams has a long frame which helps him on the defensive end contesting and blocking shots. He is still pretty thin but looks like he should be able to put weight on.

Greg McClinton (Winston-Prep, NC) 6′6 (SG) Class of 2013

McClinton is a big time athlete who showcased his ability to go up and finish everything at the rim with huge dunks. He was very impressive on the break running the lanes for his teammates to find him for easy baskets. He has a ton upside in his game and will be a player to watch in the future.

Theo Pinson (Southeast Middle, NC) 6′4 (SG) Class of 2014

Pinson though he is only an 8^th grader his skill set is far beyond that level and his upside is tremendous for a player at this stage. He is an excellent ball handler who is able to knife through the defense and finish or find the open teammate. Pinson also has great court vision for a player his age along with a nice mid-range jumper. He has a long frame to go along with long arms which with development will make him an excellent defender.

Perry Dozier (E.I. Wright MS, SC) 5′7 (PG) Class of 2015

Dozier though only in 7^th grade he played up in the high school division of this camp and held his own. He is another prospect at the point guard position that looks to pass first but is still able to score in an array of different ways whether it be the jumper or attacking the rim. He understands the game very well for a player his age. Hoopscoop has him ranked the #2 player in the class of 2015 right now which may be a little high but only time will tell.

About couple months ago I had a bet with one of my friends that by 2015 humans will be using the “cell phones” (or whatever it is going to be at that time) that are fully integrated with our bodies and there will be nothing external outside of our bodies that represent the communications device.

Essentially, cell phone modules will become so small and so efficient that it will be like a microchip implanted in our body wherever you want (hm, well, there are some places you do really want it to vibrate but let’s skip this feature for now ). And the dialing/answering will be controlled directly by our minds just like in the recent developments of scientists trying to make pieces move around with the power of a thought getting the signals off our brains.

Eventually, there are going to be some kind of a social networking with such infrastructure where you can see a crowd gathering in one place just because they have similar interests and event posted in their “minded phone”. Communication will become more flawless and smooth in terms of our real needs in the future. Spam? Oh well… spamming our brains directly freaks me out!

So, we have a real bet setup for the 2015. If there is a such a system deployed even for not mass market use, I win, if not, I loose. And I win/loose a case of Riesling delivered to Kiev by my own hands (or my friend’s hands in case I win) from one of the producers in Europe by real visit to that origin. Well, in any case I’ll win – I get a case of wine or I get to visit some interesting places to bring that wine However, the bet is bet and it is on.

My topic for New Technologies Research looks at how music and new technologies influence each other.

Through the research into the issue, a number of key themes have emerged. Presented below are several ‘futurecasts’ relating to where music ‘may’ be tomorrow…

The year is 2015.

Music police patrol the streets, cracking down on ‘unlicenced’ or illegitimate music…

With personal rights stripped to all time lows, governing bodies like APRA, the RIAA or the PRS for Music (Australasian Performing Rights Association, Recording Industry Association of America and the former Performing Right Society, UK,) have field workers whose sole occupation consists of walking the streets, apprehending people listening to personal music devices (the new ‘moonwalkmen’ are now the leading personal music player of choice, tapping into a wave of retro sentiment and tieing in with the recent multi-national space program launched to send Metallica and Elton John to the moon for a one off promotional concert for ‘SonyAppleVirginEmiMetallicaEltonjohn’ – SAVEME Corporation), and ensuring that all the music contained on said personal music device is legitimate.

No tunes are safe. No singing in public is allowed, unless cleared in writing through three tiers of legalese bureaucracy… welcome to the Recording Industry’s dream of tomorrow.

The year is 2015.

Music is free for all. Thanks to the visionary pioneering of proletariat heroes such as Richard Stallman, Shawn Fenning and the now deceased martyrs formerly known as ‘The Pirate Bay’ (rest in peace), music is no longer a commodotised, capitalistic and consumption driven industry.

Social support networks like Australia’s Centrelink meanwhile, are now facing massive problems due to understaffing, lack of resources and a sudden, suspicious rise in the number of slightly hungover scruffy looking musicians hanging around waiting for cash.

The recording industry is no longer. Thanks in no small part to the efforts of file sharing networks like The Pirate Bay, BitTorrent and Napster, it is now almost impossible to pay for music legitimately.

Hordes of angry collectors surge on music stores like Collector’s Corner for the monthly ration of new vinyl shipments. Small children are hoisted onto the tops of packed crowds in order to stand a better chance of getting to the front of the queue, desperately trying to secure their copies of the latest children’s music craze, Eminem’s magnum opus ‘Spell like this B*tches’.

Music is no longer a commodity.

Subscription based models rule supreme.

Now, everything you purchase is paid for on a subscription basis.

Your local fast food restaurant offers 12 month subscriptions to their ‘Pizza per week’ club. Clothes are paid for via one yearly transaction, and your subscription allows for a total of 24 torso garments per year, 12 lower body garments and 4 footwear units.

Music is now a subscriptions based ‘good’… Apple offer one convenient ‘Technotainment’ package, that includes personal computer, mobile telephone, personal music player and personal medical monitor in one handy 3D hologrammatic unit, stored inside your ear canal and connected directly to your cerebellum via the latest in nano-neuro technology.

You pay Apple $1200 per month for the privilege of unlimited, unfettered, unfiltered technotainment. Music, movies, television, podcasts, blogs, social networking sites, news sites, reddit… All delivered directly to your neurocortex for a mere 76% of your total income, as a highly sought after well paid design director at one of Chinostralia’s longest established designspeak firms, Ministry of Ideas.

The remainder of your income goes to filtering services, tailored to ensure that you as a time poor consumer aren’t overwhelmed by the petrabytes of technotainment swamping you on an hourly basis.

Scenarios should be as startling as possible in order to best demonstrate where complacency and stagnation exist. Through shocking and highly exaggerated forecasts, today’s areas of stagnation are identified, and it is in those areas that the unknown, unpredictable innovations of tomorrow are most likely to have major impact.

I’d like to finish this set of readings highlight a quote from Forge, Blackman and Bohlin that I found slightly ironic. Throughout their article discussing the future they have employed a seemingly self contradicting blend of acknowledgement of their inability to predict, coupled with an epistemic arrogance that somehow, their lack of being able to predict will stand them in better stead than yours or mine.

If only we could ‘identify the unknowns’…
