Jelenleg csupán néhány kósza pletyka terjeng Canon fronton, de igen érdekesek. 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS I

Jelenleg csupán néhány kósza pletyka terjeng Canon fronton, de igen érdekesek.

70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II

Canon EOS 3D
Elég sok negatív visszajelzést kapott a Canon az EOS 7D miatt, így a közeljövőben (2010 közepe táján) várható a fullframe-es nagy testvér, az EOS 3D megjelenése.

1Ds Mark IV

I managed to make it up to a couple local camera shops today. The first one (wolf camera) did not have much of anything, just a 17-40mm f/4L and a 16-35mm f/2.8L. I did not even get a chance to mount either lens onto a body. After chatting with the rep for a bit we made our exit then eventually made our way to the other camera shop that had a wider selection and proved to be a nice experience. I got to handle a canon 300mm f/4L IS along with the new T1i. The T1i strikes me as a high end point and shoot camera. The body was tiny; the LCD was okay, bigger then what my 30D has to offer. I took a few quick test shots, with no memory card in the camera to see how the 300mm f/4L IS works out then handed the set up to my mom to see what she thought of the camera. She liked the lens more than the camera, though she found the set up a bit easier to hand hold then she thought.

The 300mm f4L IS was lighter then what I thought it was going to be and a bit more compact as well. The AF was impressive since I was shooting inside the store towards the entry doors and I was using the T1i body. Maybe one of these days I can add this lens to my collection.

Before we made our exit, I asked the guy at the counter to look at one more thing, a 5DmkII and 24-70mm f/2.8L stuck on it. I was more interested in the glass stuck on the front of the 5D then the body itself. Sadly, the camera did not have a battery in it so I was unable to do any real checking out, but I did notice a few things. The body is around the same size as my 30D, and I found the shutter button a bit “squishy” and did not feel the same when I half-pressed. Too bad about the battery not being in the camera, I would have loved to check out that 24-70mm f/2.8L some more.

Too bad I could not have walked home with some new glass today, but at least I got to look a couple of the latest offering from canon and get to see in person a couple lenses I am wishing to get one of these days.

Big Ben is famous for its reliability.

This is due to the skill of its designer, the lawyer and amateur horologist Edmund Beckett Denison, later Lord Grimthorpe.

[...]

Together with an enclosed, wind-proof box sunk beneath the clockroom, the Great Clock’s pendulum is well isolated from external factors like snow, ice and pigeons on the clock hands, and keeps remarkably accurate time.

[...]

Despite heavy bombing the clock ran accurately throughout the Blitz. It slowed down on New Year’s Eve 1962 due to heavy snow, causing it to chime in the new year 10 minutes late.

The clock had its first and only major breakdown in 1976. The chiming mechanism broke due to metal fatigue on 5 August 1976, and was reactivated again on 9 May 1977. During this time BBC Radio 4 had to make do with the pips.

It stopped on 30 April 1997, the day before the general election, and again three weeks later.

On Friday, 27 May 2005, the clock stopped ticking at 10.07 p.m., possibly due to hot weather (temperatures in London had reached an unseasonal 31.8 °C/90 °F). It resumed keeping time, but stalled again at 10.20 p.m. and remained still for about 90 minutes before starting up again.

On 29 October 2005, the mechanism was stopped for approximately 33 hours so that the clock and its chimes could be worked on. It was the lengthiest maintenance shutdown in 22 years.

I help out where I can at my local greyhound rescue kennels and have just been given an assignment b

I help out where I can at my local greyhound rescue kennels and have just been given an assignment by them to do some photos for a gift card set. You know the kind of thing – Stumped for Gift Ideas? What do you buy the man who has everything? The idea is that you make a donation to the kennels and they get a card showing what your donation has bought. £5 buys a huge bag of Dog Treats. At the other end of the scale, if you are feeling very generous, you could go for the jackpot and donate £20 for a Dog Coat…

My assignment has been to take the pictures for the cards. Much harder than it sounds. It’s a piece of cake to do a nice photo for the Bedding gift card. Treats are also pretty photogenic. But whatever do you do for the sawdust photo? Ideas gratefully received!

I’m about halfway through the project now, having done all the easy shots. I feel today is a day for doing Collar and Lead (£15 so this needs a really classy shot!)

The scheme will be offered through Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare – it’s not on their site yet but keep checking. Meanwhile here’s an example of the photos so far (Bedding at £10!). And if anyone has some good ideas for how to make a Vaccination look photogenic, please speak up!

Photography footnotes:

For most of these kennel shots I use one of my cheaper lenses – the Nikkor 70-300mm f4.5/5.6 VR. It’s nice and light (some would say plasticy but that doesn’t trouble me); the longer focal lengths and wider apertures isolate the subject beautifully and make everything look pretty (a big advantage in a busy, working kennels); and best of all, I really don’t mind to much if I get a wet snotty dog nose straight in the lens (it happens!). It’s my dog lens.

But for the tearoom shots I needed a faster lens so Kenny got treated to my mid-range zoom workhorse. Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8. Sharp as a whistle, sometimes cruelly so, but I think it was fairly kind to Kenny’s grey hairs. Ken Rockwell says forget the mid range zoom and settle for a 50mm prime (because of cost). I say hang the cost, I’m worth it.

“of the beholder…”

Now, wouldnt you think that saying is true..?

Ok.. here’s what happened the other day.. a friend wanted to shoot a model. So, he gave me a ring.. “toot..toot..”

“Ey Ari, you free ah..? Wanna go shoot a stewardess..?” Then I said..” Hmmm.. let me check my very busy schedule first.. “

then after 3 long seconds.. “Alright!!! Lets do it bro..” (hehehe…)

So, off we went scouting for a decent location and after we found it, we brought the models over and did a shoot. And here’s the product that came out of my Nikon D3

Oh well, there’s more laa rite but I cant post all of it here kan..

You see, the model’s name is Hafiza. She’s a stewardess and I’ve never flown with her before but she seems very friendly and even for a non pro model, she could pull off many different poses for me. And her best features are her eyes.. It was further enhanced by a Makeup Artist who is also a stewardess by the name of Azila.

And then.. after lunch, we headed over to Show-Off Studio (my wannabe home studio laa..) to try and capture her in studio environment. And this is what my 24-70mm came up with..

So… Nice or not..? I think nice laa kan.. I’m very happy with the shots but if there’s any comments or feedback from you guys/gals.. it would be great..

Anyway, tomorrow, Sunday the 18th, I’ll be heading to Central Market Annexe Gallery. Photomalaysia’s Vanishing Heritage Exhibition will be doing it’s launch there. Oh, and one of my pictures was selected. It’s their 2nd time doing it and last year, 3 of my pictures was selected

So, that’s all for today.. I hope everyone can chip in a few words to help make me a better photog would be helpful. Thanks peeps.. Nitey nite..
