I thought Pastoral’s participation is too few in SZS3, so this is what happened.

Few backgrounds:

• Studio Pastoral is an outsourced studio that did about 40% of Shaft’s anime episodes until now. Some of Pastoral’s staffs also participate in Shaft’s work as main staff, e.g. Yamamura Hiroki as Chief Animation Director for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and Maria Holic.
• AI is also an outsourced company, known for not being a really comfortable workplace. (Or is it other company, I can’t remember well.) Not to be confused with AIC mentioned in the quote.
• The animation directors mentioned are Ushijima [Nozomi], Aoba [Taro], Shimizu [Keita], Jitsuhara [Noboru], Oomori [Hidetoshi], Maeda [Tatsuyuki] and Yamamura [Hiroki].
• Studio Pastoral’s participation as a subcontractor in Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is total of 3 parts or 1-episode worth. They did not participate in Bakemonogatari except as a Keyframe Assistant in episode 5 (alongside with Anime R).

If the above is true, then Shaft is really in a big trouble now. They have Dance in the Vampire Bund and Hidamari Sketch Hoshimitsu in January, but can’t call for help from Studio Pastoral. They neither can call for help from SILVER LINK, as they will be busy doing BakaTest.

Personally I thought it was strange to see Bakemonogatari only has 3 outsourced episodes and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei rarely has Studio Pastoral’s participation despite Yamamura Hiroki being Chief Animation Director. I initially thought they were busy doing Negima! Another World or Natsu no Arashi, but from the look of it, that doesn’t seems to be the case.

Phew! finally finished translating this toughie. I expected it to be somewhat easier considering how manga oneshots aren’t supposed to be very long (this is 20 pages) and the art looked uh rather simple so I thought ‘the words can’t be all that difficult right?’ but what took lots of time and effort to translate on my part were the numerous references to Japanese net culture. And mind you, although I know a little more than the average bumbling English-speaking passerby, I wouldn’t say that I’m totally familiar with all the various 2ch or niconico terms.

I actually learnt a lot more than I knew just from translating Nekura Musume, because usually I would never bother to read the Japanese 2ch Wiki pages and find out more about the weird (but amusing) NicoNico things around the site. For example, no one seems to have talked about dat落ち before even for the 2ch-copy 4chan.

The whole thing’s actually really hilarious even if you aren’t that familiar with Japanese internet subculture, as long as you know a little about things like 2ch… or just the more mainstream, well-known things like Densha Otoko (tsl: Train Man).

I’m looking forward to more stuff by Shinobi now ;u; Apparently he/she has a serialisation called ‘Yandere Girlfriend’ about some yankee girl who fell in love with a normal guy (I feel sorry for him already), but I’m still looking for chapters that I can read properly (and not the irritating digital reader…)

By the way, if you can read Japanese, you can read Nekura Musume over here with a digital reader at GanGan Online, a Square Enix online comic magazine of sorts. If possible, please rate the story after reading to support the artist and make GanGan more inclined to serialise more series by Shinobi. ;D

SDS will probably (hopefully) be releasing Nekura, fully scanlated, in a week… or two… The translation took me a total of approx. 11 pages in Word orz. Although, of course, quite a bit of that space was probably taken up by my random ramblings and the various references I used (in case my hardworking proofer uhm doesn’t happen to understand the Japanese when checking for accuracy). Check the flow properly too, okay? And I’m sorry if the typesetting is hell, I can uh try and do the typesetting in future if it looks manageable for an amateur like me orz.

On 2ch, someone posted some links of KARA’s rehearsal and live in Thailand. Along with a video of SHINee in Thailand as well. They arrived on 9/16 for the Thai-Korea concert. KARA, SHINee, and Ryan represented Korea for this friendly gathering. To represent Thailand, Golf&Mike also performed. If you don’t know Golf&Mike, they are part of Johnny’s in Japan. They had a side unit with NEWS‘ Yamapi to form the group GYM.

Don’t forget that KARA is also going to make their debut in Japan soon too.

Here’s the new trailer for Yuichi Sato‘s Genkai in a Black Company. The film is based on a popular forum thread on the Japanese internet forum 2chan in which a 26-year-old computer geek documented his struggle working at a “black company” after the death of his mother and subsequent loss of her financial support. A black company (burakku gaisha) is a Japanese slang term referring to companies which overwork their employees beyond the legal limits and generally exploit people who can’t find a better job someplace else due to lack of qualifications or the general state of the economy. The story was also adapted to a best-selling novel last year.

Teppei Koike plays the geek in question, referred to only by his internet screen name “Ma-Otoko”. Maiko, Kei Tanaka, Hiroshi Shinagawa, Tetsuhiro Ikeda, Yasuhi Nakamura, Masako Chiba, and Seiichi Tanabe also star.

“Genkai in a Black Company” will be released in Japan this November.

Jay arrived safely yesterday in his home in Seattle. A hottest spotted him at SEATAC and reported her encounter on 2ch:

I don’t know who posted these, but as for the second poster, I’m just the messenger. I don’t know how close or what type of relationship that person has with Jay, but at least it’s a nice message.

Other netizens on 2ch have expressed their concerns, concerning Korean fans, saying, “Is it because of the netizens again?”, “It’s a scary country”, and “Didn’t someone commit suicide before (because of netizens)?”* (cited from akp)

I’ve been reading posts from other fans on 2ch have expressed that they hate Korean fans. One even wrote, “2PM will always be a 7 member group and it will never change.”

While I can say I have seen first hand yarakashi and okiri fans, I do say I stand with the Japanese fans on this one. As much as yarakashi and okiri fans scare the living daylights out of me, none of the Johnny’s boys have ever resigned from status. They may have been on suspension, but for good reason.

I mean we all remember the incident with Yamapi a couple of years ago, when he went to visit Korea with some friends? The yarakashi over there did way more damage to him than any other yarakashi in Japan. So much Yamapi’s bag was stolen, his clothes were torn, I mean really, Korean fans are probably the scariest things on earth.

I’m seeing DBSK not breaking up because of the reaction their yarakashi might have. They may not even go back to Korea if they could help it.

I really hope that netizen’s will learn from this, and this is the price these people pay. They pretty much ruined him, in short, and there was no reason for it.

Hello everyone!
I know it’s been a long time since I’ve updated my website and I do apologize for that. It seems like this is the only place that hasn’t been updated since I made a Japanese vlog, and anti-Twilight related videos.
Recently I’ve been posting more Japanese vlogs on my Youtube channel in order to help improve my spoken command of Japanese. I’ve also been using sites like: Lang 8, LingQ, 2ちゃねる, and Smartfm to help improve my Japanese. I’m very close to having enough money to go back to Japan. I just need to save up all the paychecks I get from July and the first one in August. I do plan on leaving for Japan in late August to teach English there. I’ve already found an apartment waiting for me in Tokyo for when I arrive on or before the planned date. I will not say the exact date until I actually get on the plane and head off for Japan. Once I’m there I will make a video or a blog post on Live-journal and AMEBA to let you all know that I’ve made it to Japan.
I finally bought a video camera and a memory card so that I can make videos away from my laptop. The total cost of the camcorder and memory card was $126.06. Which was quite expensive but it was the cheapest video camera that I could find.
I’m going to try to make a Japanese vlog almost everyday so that my Japanese will be to where I want it to be when I do go to Japan.
I also had to threw away a lot of stuff (This includes language courses) so that I wouldn’t have to worry about doing it at the last minute. I only threw away that one’s that I’m not using anymore or haven’t used because the material was in fact useless.
I will also try to clean up some things to make this website more appealing and organized as well.
