Screenwriter of the award-winning film, “Pulp Fiction” was sentenced to prison after a fatal DUI that killed one person and injured Avary’s wife, and had been tweeting about life behind bars since October.  Or at least we thought.

Mark Milian of the Los Angeles Times wrote an article questioning whether or not Avary was really tweeting from inside the Ventura County Jail as @avary, referring to himself as #34 (profile is now private).  As it turned out, he wasn’t. After a follow up investigation, The LA Times wrote a second article reporting that Avary was serving his time in a furlough program that allowed him to go to his job during the day and report back to the furlough facility at night and on weekends.  

Inmates in the program are not allowed to work at home, and it is unclear as to where Avary was working during the day.  It is also unclear when and why officials permitted Avary to enter the furlough program.  

As of Thanksgiving day, Avary is back in full-time custody at Ventura County Jail.  He tweeted on Thursday evening, “#34 is ‘rolled up’ to a higher security facility for exercising his first amendment rights. The truth he has discovered is too dangerous.”

What Avary was tweeting, about his life in prison, a life he made seem very difficult, wasn’t reality.  Perhaps he thought using Twitter to describe his life in prison would help get away with serving in the furlough program, but it backfired when Milian picked up the story.  I’d call it a win for Twitter and it’s accidental role in criminal surveillance.

AL- ‘AZEEZ – The Almighty

Do not imagine that Allah will break His promise to His Messengers. Allah is the Almighty , the Lord of Retribution. (Surah Ibrahim, 14:47)

This name of Allah expresses that He will always triumph and that He can never be refuted, for only He has true power.

Allah created the universe’s order, all of its laws (both known and unknown), and all beings on Earth. In the face of Allah’s infinitepower, which clearly manifests itself in the universe, the feebleness of every created being and thing is obvious. All that is created can only exist, survive, and act if He commands so. No doubt, this feeling of feebleness also holds true for humanity. No matter how well-off, strong, and powerful people may be, each person is weak and helpless in Allah’s sight. No possessions, money, or status can protect them from Allah’s punishment; only those who surrender to Him, live by His orders, and strive to earn His consent will be protected.

In the Qur’an, Allah promises to grant superiority to His loyal servants. Allah has written: “I will be victorious, I and My Messengers.”

Allah is Most Strong, Almighty. (Surah al-Mujadala, 58:21) … and He has sent down the Furqan. Those who reject Allah’s Signs will have a terrible punishment. Allah is Almighty, Lord of Retribution. (Surah ‘Al Imran, 3:4)

The White House is aiming for a formal announcement by President Obama next week

President Obama meets with staff on Afghanistan strategy

The White House braced for a tough sell of President Barack Obama’s long-awaited decision on whether to commit tens of thousands of new U.S. forces to the stalemated war in Afghanistan, even as the president met Monday with top advisers for the last major discussion before an announcement “within days.”

Military officials and others expect Obama to settle on a middle-ground option that would deploy an eventual 32,000 to 35,000 U.S. forces to the 8-year-old conflict. That rough figure has stood as the most likely option since before Obama’s last large war council meeting earlier this month, when he tasked military planners with rearranging the timing and makeup of some of the deployments.

The president has said with increasing frequency in recent days that a big piece of the rethinking of options that he ordered had to do with building an exit strategy into the announcement — in other words, revising the options presented to him to clarify when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government and under what conditions.

As White House press secretary Robert Gibbs put it to reporters on Monday, it’s “not just how we get people there, but what’s the strategy for getting them out.”

Ich bin mal gespannt, ob ich die Wette halten kann, an meinem Abiball mit Größe 34 aufzutauchen.
Und überall reden sie von Essstörungen.
Bla bla. Als ob ich das nicht schon längst auswendig wüsste.
Essgestörte Mädchen machen dies und das.
Und jeder scheint zu wissen dass ich auch so ein Wesen bin.
Dass nie vor anderen isst, Essen abweist, sich in weiten Klamotten verkrümmelt, keine Kommentare zu Figur oder Diät abgibt.
Oh wenn ihr wüsstest, was für Dinge ich alleine daheim tun kann, ihr würdet euch für mich schämen.
Essen, Erbrechen, Essen, Erbrechen.
Schlingen und einen Tag später essen wie ein Spatz.

Was können alle anderen Menschen glücklich sein, normal und ohne Komplexe essen zu können.

I love TvTropes, and I was recently linked to this fanfic that anthropomorphizes the site and applies a healthy dose of rule 34.  By which, I mean it’s basically erotica.  It depicts an… encounter between an anthro TvTropes and Wikipedia. Pretty funny, so I thought I’d share.

I have completed 1/3 of a goal! I sewed something for Amelia. I thought before I tried something complicated like a dress; let me first see if I can even stitch straight – I can’t.

So I had the idea to sew her a fabric book with different textures, colours and even activities. I’ve been looking for something similar in the shops but could never find anything even remotely similar. Off to the fabric shop we went. Amelia chose a few of the ribbons and buttons

As mentioned, I knew roughly what I wanted to be in the book, now I needed a sturdy fabric that will handle baby wear and tear. Wanted to use felt, but couldn’t find any in our 2 fabric stockists (small town you know). I decided on slightly stretch denim. It is soft enough to fold, but tough so as not to tear.

I don’t have an over locker, so all the edges were zigzagged. I used contrasting thread so that the stitches are visible and adds to the texture. I also didn’t make special backing for each of the pages, so the stitches are visible on the back of all the pages – on some of them it forms a unique picture on it’s own… or just looks funny as with the corduroy triangles.

Here are a few pics of the different pages.

Cover of the book. Using the ZIGZAG stitch with the stitch length at around 1, you achieve an almost satin embroidery like stitch. Then I hand-stitched a border around the zigzag pattern. The ‘a’ is for Amelia.

The zipper page. Used yellow checked fabric, contrasting green zipper and thread. Behind the yellow fabric is a red sequined hart. I struggled a bit with the zip, hence the wonky lines

I simply love embroidery anglais! So I had to incorporate it in this project. The heart is sewed on using chain stitch in yellow. (Yes, I can do candlewick work too, albeit very curvy)

Example of what a bad idea looks like, lol. Started off with corduroy triangles, but the sewing of the heart on the other side came out funny.

Threading laces and tying a bow page. Again used the yellow checked fabric. Punched holes and decorated with gold ringlets. Some old laces tie the two sides together; covering a red sequined square.

I found some sequined ribbon left over from when I made scatter cushions for the lounge; paired with green tassels and the pink sequin-organza ribbon, this makes for a stimulating page. (All it needs now is a scratch-and-sniff)

Just a plain shape: Circle in eye-watering green. Used blanket stitch in pink thread to sew together.

This is actually the back of the green circle page. See the pink stitches showing? Found this gorgeous piece at ‘Naald-in-’n-Hooimied’, and the lady sold it to me in a 20cm strip even though the minimum is 25cm’ which would have gone right through a repeat pattern.

Amelia’s favourite, The button page. In the shop she immediately made a grab for the central turquoise bling gem. I hunted around for the rest and used contrasting thread to sew onto the fabric.

The back of the button page, and also the back cover of the book, has little bells. Nothing like a noisemaker to amuse a peuter!
