Infinity Ward yesterday hosted a multiplayer even for Modern Warfare 2 and during the event Larry “Major Nelson” came to the stage to reveal a special Modern Warfare 2 bundle called the “Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console”. Microsoft has finally officially announced the new pricing for the Xbox 360. The pricing structure now stands as AU$449 for the Elite, AU $399 for the Pro and lastly AU$299 for the Arcade.

The pricing will come into effect on the 22nd of September. If you purchase an Elite on the first days of the new pricing you be will one of the few who miss out on the bonus bundling of Halo 3: ODST from October 20th.

Run Run Sheep is an extremely out of the ordinary puzzle game that will keeps you glued to your iPod Touch or iPhone. In this game, you are required to place direction arrows in the path where the sheep will run to guide them to the goal flags. You act like a sheep sheperd in this game. You can remove the arrows by tapping on them again if you find you make a wrong move.

Once you are comfortable the arrows are placed correctly, hit the Run Run button to see how your sheep run towards the goal flags. At any time in the game, you can do a reset of the game if you find some of the arrows are placed wrongly.

However, there are some obstacles in this game such as pit holes and foxes that will eat up your sheep when your sheep run towards the wrong directions! Once your sheep fell into the pit holes or eaten by the foxes, the game will end.

There are 100 challenging levels in this game which will give you plentiful of fun while you are sitting on  the bus or train. There are walls in the puzzles which will block the sheep or foxes to move to the other side.

This game does increase with difficulty when you play further into the deeper levels of the game. I find that you will have difficulty in deciding where to put the direction arrows when the number of  sheep increases in the game. Sometimes, I will do a trial run of the sheep to see where the sheep are stuck and place the arrows there to complete this game. Well, if you are stuck in the game, you can try this method. The reset button comes in handy in such scenarios as you have to restart all over again to place the direction arrows correctly.

This game is packaged with nice sheep sounds as they run across the room. They will go “Meh “Meh” – the typical sounds sheep will make when they run. When your sheep is eaten up by the fox, the fox will laugh with a hideous sound. I feel this game will be welcome for kids and gals as it is a pretty cute and addictive game. The other advantage of this game is that it trains your thinking abilities. You will be forced to think ahead where to place your direction arrows like in a chess game.

If you like chess and sheep, this game is definitely for you. For starters, you can play this game in Easy game mode. The rest of the game modes like Hard, Extreme and Normal are locked. They can only be unlocked after you complete the Easy game mode. There is no multiplayer option in this game currently. I foresee a level editor will be kind of cool in the game as I can make my own custom game levels and share it with other people.

Jelly SMS is an app that allows you to send free or cheap international SMS text messages from your iPhone or iPod Touch. I recently have time to explore this app to see whether it can help cut down my mobile bills.

The app itself allows you to send any message to your contacts in your iPhone Address book or key the number manually. If you are not sure of the number to key in, you need to key in the international country code plus the contact number. For instance, I am trying to sms my friend in Singapore, I need to key in +65 followed by the phone number.

You can also set the default country code under the your iPhone settings page so you don’t have to key the number each time you SMS your friends. You can also forward your SMS by Jelly SMS or by email.

If you are using an iPod Touch which has no mobile number, you can get sms replies direct to your mobile phone instead. You need to register your mobile number on the provider website or the voip application which the provider provides free of charge on its web site.

To verify your phone number through your providers Voip client. You need to:

1. download and install the client from their website, e.g.  VoipBuster.com or VoipCheap.com.

2. Then, you need to launch the program on your computer and go into the “Customise your profile” screen.
3. Enter your phone number here in international format e.g. +353868434567 and then press “Verify Now”.
4. A code will then be sent to your phone which you will then need to enter on screen when prompted by the voip client.
5. After you have completed the above steps, on your iPhone you should ensure that your mobile number is entered (exactly same as above) in the iPhone ‘Settings’ App -> ‘Jelly SMS’ -> ‘Caller ID’ field.

Now all your texts should appear to be coming from your phone, and any replies will go directly back to your phone.

I am using VoipDiscount. Previously, this provider is having free sms to my country but recently they increase it to 0.03 cents. I tested Jelly SMS when I was having free trial and to my surprise the SMS works. But my friend cannot reply my SMS because I did not verify my phone number through the sip provider Voip client.

When you call using  Jelly SMS, you are using your own service provider’s mobile plan credits not the Voip provider credits. If you want to call using Jelly SMS using your Voip provider, you need to switch to Fring instead. I believe this is one disadvantage of this app but this app is only a sms app. Perhaps, I am expecting too much because of the price tag of $3.99.

The app supports landscape SMS typing so you don’t have to worry if you like to type long messages. Once you registered an voip provider, you can also reuse your sip provider for free Voip phone calls. For instance, I am using Fring which can be downloaded on the App Store free of charge.  You just need to configure the sip proxy server and login using your sip login details.

For VoipDiscount, the sip proxy server to key in fring is sip.voipdiscount.com. In short, once you have a voip account with VoipDiscount or other providers, you are entitled to cheap sms in Jelly SMS and free voip phone calls through fring!

But paying through the voip providers is not easy as they don’t accept credit cards or paypal. The payment modes on these web sites need to be improved in order to increase the usage of Jelly SMS. Also, I feel Jelly SMS need to add more free sms providers for new users like myself to test the lite version of the app before buying the full version.

Overall, I feel this app is functional but paying through the voip providers is not easy due to the above reasons cited. This app have the potential to attract more users if it has more free SMS providers, better payment modes and allows the user to use the Voip calls within the app itself. But we do have to congratulate the app for supporting so many Voip providers as listed on its iTunes App Description page. The app itself has a very good FAQ page which is located here for users who need help on Jelly SMS.

Balloon Headed Boy brings back the nostalgic memories of me playing the super mario game on my PC.

The story begins when it is balloon headed boy’s birthday and every balloon in the town is invited to the Balloon Castle for his birthday. However, the night before the party, the terrible and sinister storm blew away the balloon inhabitants throughout the land and frogs rain from the skies.

Now, it is Balloon Headed Boy’s task to race through more than 20 levels to collect flowers to inflate his head and you have to hit those frogs with your balloon head and rescue the balloons before the rising waters rush in.

Personally, I enjoyed this game because of the funny music that plays throughout the game. The controls is very simple. There are direction keys on the game screen to control bubble headed boy. There are up and down arrows to control flying bubble headed boy. For landing bubble headed boy, press the down arrow. To fly him up the skies, you need to press the up arrow.

Once you collected the flowers, you can achieve the ability to fly. However, the ability does not last long. You need to collect more flowers to fly in order to collect those hard to reach yellow balloons. Once you collected all the yellow balloons, the exit door will open and you have to tilt your iphone backwards in order to go to the next level. During initial play, I was confused how the exit door works as I standing in front of it and nothing happen. After I see the animated tilting, then I realized I have to tilt my device backwards.

There are obstacles in the game such as spiked blocks that move, green frogs that jump and rushing water that threaten to drown bubble headed boy. Sometimes, you have to jump on the frozen cat to free the cat and you can ride on it to the higher levels as the flood water rises.

You can also see your achievements in the game after completing some levels. Overall, I feel the game is worth $3.99 because of the number of levels it contains. Get this game only if you love platform games like super mario brothers.

Grizzly at Oxbow Bend

I have seen a Grizzly before. Animal Planet and PBS have shown me the 350-1500 pound omnivores roaming along rivers, coastal areas, mountain meadows and in the tundra on my television screen. PBS warned me that if I encounter the bear, one of North America’s largest land mammals, to keep in mind some of the following tips:

 If you encounter a grizzly, do not run.
Avoid direct eye contact.

If the animal makes contact, curl up into a ball on your side, or lie flat on your stomach.

Try not to panic; remain as quiet as possible. 

I begin my first day with Grand Teton Lodge Company with this advice in my mind, as the Grand Teton National Park is home to several Grizzlies. One female in particular, known by her tag number “399,” gave birth to triplet cubs in late winter of 2007 that now wander the Park.

Pat Hattaway, Grand Teton National Park’s North District Ranger, explained, “399 raised her cubs near humans. While other bears tend to go high, she remained low, so the bears are seen near the road.”

It isn’t long into my first day at the office before one of 399’s cubs meanders near the road at Oxbow Bend. A few hours as Digital Media Manager and I am already on a bear escapade.

Camera in hand, a co-worker and I hop in a car and cruise the road in search of the cub. A few miles away, we encounter the flashing lights of a National Park Ranger’s vehicle. He has set a perimeter for the bear’s safety.

Sure enough, the Grizzly is hanging out about five yards from the road. The tips of his fur glow with a frosty silver hue, providing a “grizzled” look (which is how the bear gets its name). His long, curled claws dig into the snow patched ground in search of food beneath the surface. At one moment he turns his head towards the car as if to say, “I know I’m a good looking guy, but enough already.”

Rain begins to drop from a dark gray sky and we decide it’s best to head back to Jackson Lake Lodge. I have seen a Grizzly and now one’s seen me.

An Afternoon Stroll

Megatouch’s Hoop Jones is a game that lets you throw a airball and try your luck at 3-pointers to rack up as many point as you can.

You have four persons that have the chance to shoot the basketball each time as the loop basket goes around. You have to use your reflexes as quick as possible and aim at the loop to obtain a clear shot. As the level progresses, the loop basket becomes more further away from you and the chances of hitting a clear 3-pointer shot becomes less possible.

There is one warning “back it up” given before the time runs out. You cannot take your own sweet time to aim and shoot. Moreover, you cannot pass the ball to the next person to help you shoot your ball. I like this basketball game but I wish it could allow me to do more stunts like Micheal Jordan. Once you shoot the ball, it will vanish in the thin air. It will be good to show the ball bouncing on the floor when you miss the shot.

This game is suitable for basketball fans and it features 10 levels of fun. You can even compare your local scores with the global top 10 scorers in the game.

Shovebox  is a mac app that helps you synch your data with the iphone app version. The mac version of this app does not install as application which you can execute, so you will not find it with an interface after installing. Instead, it integrates with your taskbar next to your wi-fi signal on top as a box icon with an down arrow sign.

It supports drag and drop documents from the mac desktop app Shovebox into your iphone app. The types of documents supported are plain text files, rich text files, word documents,PDFs and images files (eg. Jpeg, gif, Tiff). Currently, PDFs synch to the iphone app can’t be viewed by landscape mode. I hope this will be fixed in the next version for people who like to read their documents in landscape orientation.

Basically, you need to set up the pairing from your mac app shovebox with your iphone app open. Once pairing is setup, the items will be synced automatically from your Macbook to your iphone. When you click Organise in the Mac version of the Shovebox, you can see everything that is in the Inbox which you can do a compare with the Shovebox Mobile’s Inbox.

If you see some data not in synch, then you need to synch the data manually by pressing the “Synch Now” button located in the mac version of ShoveBox.

While using the desktop and iphone versions, I felt some parts of the data is not synched automatically.  If you use Quickjot and Clipboard, you need to manually activate the “Synch Now” button when you want information to flow to your iphone from these two sources. The rest of the features works as advertised.

This can be a plus point for those people who don’t like automatic synchronization of their data to their iphone when they have not finished typing their notes in QuickJot or Clipboard.

You can synch camera pictures from your Isight app from your macbook to your iphone app using Shovebox. Furthermore, most people like to synch their web pages from their web browser  and pdfs to their iphone for offline reading. So shovebox can certainly fit their needs in this scenario.

The iphone version of Shovebox lets you take notes, enter new bookmarks or take new photos and synch them to the Mac version of ShoveBox. You can flag notes as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple or gray to denote certain importance to items in your inbox.
