Due to the overwhelming ammount of project management and to finnalize a few things and polish the game, we are delaying the launch until after the new year. This moves A Stwalart’s Tale over into 2010, we have a finnalized launch date of 1/14/2010 . I feel this is best for both me as a developer and the player community as a whole. In terms of what still has to be done before launch I have compiled the jargon below.

Digital Songlines é um projecto desenvolvido pelo ACID – Australasian CRC for Interaction Design para a recolha, educação e partilha do conhecimento do património cultural indígena.  Um elemento fundamental deste projecto consiste no desenvolvimento de uma caixa de ferramentas para o  motor de jogo Digital Songlines (DSE) que suporta a elaboração e partiha de narrativas indigenas australianas dentro de um ambiente 3D.

Identificando as vantagens do uso de tecnologias virtuais na reconstrução não intrusa do património cultural, assim como na sua  preservação e investigação em contextos situados,  o de motor de jogo tem vindo a ser aplicada no sector do Património Cultural como ferramenta para a reconstrução de locais, artefactos e histórias, na sua maioria modelando, num formato ortogonal, civilizações passadas e ambientes edificados. O DSL  difere destas implementações na natureza do ambiente de jogo: modela um “território” ou local, fauna e flora através de uma representação de um ambiente não-ortogonal suportando um cenário que contextualiza de forma marcada as história narradas. Desta forma o espaço/território virtual é um interface no qual surgem camadas de informação e do qual emergem prática culturais.

Do ponto de vista tecnológico o sofware DSL permite a representação e manipulação de matrizes de objectos 3D recriando paisagens de fauna e flora nativas – os terrenos modelados foram desenvolvidos através da importação de dados geo-espaciais adquiridos por satélite -  e integrando recursos como sons, animações, inteligência artficial, simulações de luz natural e metereologia.

A primeira Iteração do projecto DSL consiste em “Irene’s world” (2006), um registo da cultura material e linguagem da comunidade Gunggari na área de Mitchell, tal como foi narrada a Irene Ryder, uma mulher gunggari, pela sua familia e comunidade.

A segunda iteração de DSL  é “Virtual Warrane“, uma apresentação multimédia interactiva que apresenta as histórias e conhecimento cultural do grupo de aborígenes Cadigal, da área de  Warrane  (Sydney Cove). Através de um mundo virtual 3D, onde se recria a vida diária neste território em 1788 – data anterior à chegada da primeira colónia europeia-  o utilizadores assumem o papel de uma personagem Cadigal, podendo observar e interagir com uma comunidade virtual e assim experimentar a sua vida quotidiana.

Teste do projecto Travel in Europe com a Vila de Mação (Fev. 2009) fonte: G. Leite-Velho

O projecto Travel in Europe (TiE) é um ambiente de Mundo Virtual (MV) 3D online onde os utilizadores, através de um avatar, vivem experiências lúdicas interagindo com representações de síntese do património cultural europeu, nomeadamente as cidades de Praga, Génova, Estrasburgo, Cluj, Maribor e Plovdiv. O Instituto Politécnico de Tomar participa neste projecto, explorando elementos tecnológicos relativos à reconstrução virtual de duas áreas de Mação (centro da Vila de Mação e Vale de Ocreza). A experiência TiE/Mação suporta a estratégia do Museu de Arte Pré-Histórica e do Sagrado do Vale do Tejo como afirmação de espaço de conhecimento, investigação e experiência, aplicando ao MV alguns dos seus recursos fundamentais: recriação da personagem Andakatu num avatar para aumentar a audiência do museu; utilização de avatar-guia em referência às visitas de contacto próximo do museu; exploração do espaço virtual que suporta aprendizagem “informal” pelo utilizador, como paralelo com o modelo de experiência interactiva no museu. Jovens de 14-15 anos foram definidos como público-alvo do projecto.

Em TiE/Mação o utilizador encontra diversos desafios relacionados com o património cultural da região: No cenário/mapa do vale de Ocreza,  uma “viagem no espaço-tempo” propõe ao utilizador uma imersão no período Paleolítico, guiado pelo avatar Andakatu, onde se apresentam tarefas/desafios lúdicos relacionados com conteúdos desta era. No cenário/mapa da Vila de Mação o utilizador está perante a reconstrução de um cenário rural típico que pretende sensibilizá-lo para o património intangível. No próximo dia 7 de Outubro de 2009 será feita a apresentação pública do projecto TiE/Mação, no Instituto Terra e Memória/Museu de Arte Pré-Histórica inaugurando-se  uma exposição que irá incluir um sistema CAVE de simulação. Como estratégia de disseminação do projecto está prevista a distribuição do jogo na exposição.

O Projecto TiE, co-financiado pela UE, actualmente na sua fase final, é coordenado pela Universidade de Génova- DIBE – Elios labs, envolvendo um consórcio de empresas e instituições académicas e culturais. TiE é uma plataforma tecnológica para o desenvolvimento de Mundo Virtuais online incluindo um motor de MV, modelos de tarefas, inteligência artificial para estratégia de execução de tarefas, etc.

“City and Spectacle” project proposes a vison of Lisbon Pre 1755 Earthquake.

(DEC2008) The first phase of the project  consisted on a virtual reconstruction of the eastern side of the Lisbon’s Royal Courtyard (Terreiro do Paço) just before it was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake. Modeled buildings include the Royal Palace, the surviving part of the early 16^th century original palace, the Royal Opera House and the Royal Palace Gardens, as well as connecting streets.

The façades of the Opera House were redone, as well as the Palace Gardens. The Clock Tower by Canevari was more accurately modelled. Thanks to a reasonably detailed blueprint for the Patriarchal Church, this whole area was done from scratch, with the western façades inspired by an existing engraving showing one of the remaining buildings. The blueprint also shows a far more precise layout of Capela Street in the decade before the earthquake, which implied a major change of the existing modelled street.

Thanks to a more advanced rendering engine developed by Linden Lab for their Second Life viewer, the new images and the video below are now able to display projected shadows. The underlying server technology was upgraded to OpenSimulator 0.6.6.

The project is a collaborative work between the CHAIA- Centro de História de Arte e Investigação Artística, at the Universidade de Évora, The King’s Visualization Lab at King’s College London and Beta Technologies – Architecs for the Virtual World.

“The Langweil’s model adventure” (2009) is a PC computer game developed by the DGCI at CTU Prague, in collaboration with Visual Connection, the City of Prague Museum and the City Hall. The game  is an outup of a large scale project of digitalization of “The Langweil’s model”, a 20 sq meters large paper model representation of Prague, in scale 1:480,  created in 1826-1837. Developed by the CTU prague the game, set in an 3D space environment, invites de players to travel around the virtual Prague and to perform 16 tasks dealing with the history of locations of the city. The tasks follow an instruction-test model where the user is evaluated about his learning acquisition.

In terms of visual scenery the original 3D model was simplified and stylized into a cartoon look in order to target it to a children audience. Th game was implemented in VRML and javascript.

Magazines are still alive! I still love reading them; though, with the internet severely changing the way we consume information in the last couple of years, it’s clear that so many magazines usually fail to survive due to current electronic media society.

So, when someone starts a magazine that deals with a five year old game (World of Warcraft was launched back in November 2004), it’s a brave move and a good litmus test to see whether the magazine market can still support innovation. Yes, WoW does have some 11.5 million players, but it’s not a huge market as far as magazines go. The magazine plans to entice players with promise of beautiful WoW-related art and in depth game information, which does sound good, but there’s no lack of those two online, especially the latter.

Ever wanted to own your own racehorse? How about training it as well? These pastimes used to be reserved only for the super rich. Some people who maybe were not so super rich might be able to afford a share in a horse, for example a leg, and if the horse ran well and won they would get a share of the winnings. They were then of course also responsible for the cost of feeding, veterinary care, stabling, training etc. Not something most of us can afford. But  hold your horses, because NOW we can!!

Because the company is in what we call ’soft launch’ this is just a preview, but I cannot wait to have my own beautiful horse, train her and win races. And I will also be able to bet on other people’s horses.

Now, he is released and joins his former mafia group. The mafia group sends him to Vice City for a cocaine deal. During this deal he was attacked by some rivals. In the attack his bodyguards and dealer are killed. He losses the deal money and cocaine also. Now, he planed to retrieve the cocaine and kill to everyone who is responsible for that. For this mission he makes his own gang. Now, the gang is more powerful and rich than it’s previous.

Grand Theft Auto– Vice City is an amazing game with different mission to proceed in it. All these things make it an excellent game which has completely different challenges and different skills. GTA Vice City is better technically and strong than its prequels. In this game you can get new weapons and new vehicles which make this game a good experience to play. The story of GTA Vice City is more entertaining and complex than GTA 3. There are different soundtrack channels that play on the road while players drive. Now, There are fifth part of GTA also as GTA San Andreas.

Already you know about the game DJ Hero but unfortunately it is not having sufficient entertainment. Activision is another and it is going to be releasing a limited edition of the video game that comprises Eminem and Jay-Z tracks.

Nexuiz is a 3d FPS deathmatch game project, created online by a team of developers called Alientrap.
