NEW BERLIN, New York – Red Bull/KTM Factory rider Ryan Dungey made history once again as he went 1-1 at Unadilla Raceway to take the overall victory and the crown as the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro 450 Motocross Champion.

Ryan Dungey started 5th in the first moto and suffered a crash within the first lap causing him to fall to 11th place. He quickly rebounded and moved back into the top ten on the next lap. He used the remaining laps to pick off riders as he climbed to the top of the pack and eventually put his KTM 450 SX-F into the lead at the two lap board. When the checkered flag flew, Dungey crossed the finish line to take the first moto victory.

Fans lined the fence for the start of moto two in anticipation of watching Dungey make history for KTM as he rode his way to victory in the second moto to claim KTM’s first 450 Motocross Championship. Dungey launched off to a 4th place start and moved into 3rd by the fourth corner. The next lap he leaped into 2nd and moments later he had passed for the lead. Dungey never looked back and went on to lead the remaining laps to claim the overall and his first championship on the KTM brand.

“It has been an amazing year with the Red Bull/KTM Team,” remarked Dungey on the podium. “I am so happy to clinch this championship and so grateful to every member of the Red Bull/KTM Team and my family that have helped me get here today. When I joined the KTM team last October, Roger told me that we would be champion contenders and I believed him. It has come true today.”

Red Bull/KTM Factory Team Manager Roger DeCoster was elated with Dungey’s victory, stating: “The team and Ryan have worked so hard this season. We have seen him have success in Supercross and then suffer an injury only to come back stronger. This is a great moment for the team, for KTM and for Ryan. We are very proud of him and look forward to running the number one plate at the final two races.”

KTM’s UK factory rider Jonny Walker delivered a sensational ride up Austria’s Iron Mountain on Sunday to seal victory in the notorious Red Bull Hare Scramble on Sunday in what is considered the world’s toughest one-day Hard Enduro competition. It was only the 21-year-old rider’s second start in the classic endurance event.

In the absence of five-times winner, KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak who won in the EnduroCross World Championship second round in the USA this weekend, Walker’s victory also signaled the passing of the mantel to the next generation of great KTM riders. Walker not only won the mighty race, he did it in style and with an impressive winning margin of around 20 minutes from
second placed Dougie Lampkin (Gas-Gas).

The race lived up to its international reputation for delivering not only stunning racing from the world’s toughest riders but also an element of drama. Graham Jarvis (GB) and Andreas Lettenbichler (D) had been disqualified for missing an entire terrace in the high-speed section “Rosina”. Neither rider saw the announcement and continued on racing. And of the 500 starters
only seven were listed as official finishers when fog caused the race to be halted after three and a half hours instead of the usual four-hour limit. Anyway six of the seven official finishers were on offroad bikes by the Austrian manufacturer KTM!

Jonny Walker: “I knew that Jarvis had been disqualified and in the final part I didn’t take any risks. I was simply too fast at Carl’s Diner and I hurt my back a bit when I went over the handlebars. It’s simply fantastic to be the winner in only my second start here in Erzberg.”

Alex Doringer (KTM Team Manager): “It’s just great for us that such a nice young guy like Jonny Walker has won here. We really knew he had improved since last year. We already knew that before the race and that’s why we were counting on him. What we didn’t know is just how much he had improved and that surprised everyone. Ryan Dungey makes it two in a row
Red Bull/KTM Factory rider Ryan Dungey takes his second consecutive 450 Motocross class overall win at the fourth round of the US Pro Motocross Championship Series at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris Pennsylvania and now leads the championship by 42 points.

Factory teammates Ken Roczen of Germany and French rider Marvin Musquin also had a strong day out with Roczen on the podium in third and Musquin in overall fifth in the 250 class.

GP victory of Herlings, podium third for Cairoli in Agueda Red Bull KTM factory riders put in a good weekend of racing at the Agueda circuit in Portugal with Jeffrey Herlings taking the MX2 Grand Prix victory and Tony Cairoli securing a podium third in MX1. Both riders retained their red plates as championship leaders.

KTM EJC victory for Lucas Wimmer in Misano
Austria’s Lucas Wimmer converted his Pole Position into a first victory in the KTM European Junior Cup after dominating round 3 in Misano, San Marino.

The Austrian teenager was in blistering form the entire weekend and immediately shot his KTM 690 Duke out of the grid to claim the holeshot. He quickly built up a commanding lead to win from a battling Christian Vidal of Spain and Australian Guiseppe Scarcella.

ANAHEIM, California – Red Bull/KTM Factory Team rider Ryan Dungey finished 3rd overall at the opening round of the AMA Supercross Series effectively earning KTM’s first-ever U.S. Supercross class podium finish.Dungey looked impressive from the start of the first practice session on his newly released KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition race machine. He qualified third fastest from practice and was placed in the second heat.

Heat Race
He nearly nailed the holeshot once the gate dropped for his eight-lap heat but was cut off as the riders rounded the first corner and dropped back to 3rd. He quickly passed Brett Metcalfe to move into 2nd behind Andrew Short at the end of the first lap. Dungey, Short and a hard-charging James Stewart soon found themselves in a three-way battle for the lead. Stewart made the pass to take over the lead position while Dungey and Short battled it out for 2nd place. Dungey was able to make the pass on the final lap to earn 2nd overall in the heat.

Main Event
At the start of the main event, Dungey leaped out front early to earn another good start on his KTM. He rounded the first corner in 5th position and passed Mike Alessi for 4th within the first few turns. He continued his forward momentum making a clean inside pass on Ivan Tedesco on the third lap of the race to move into podium position. Out front, Ryan Villopoto led the way while Chad Reed sat in the runner-up position and Dungey sat approximately 5 seconds back in 3rd.

Dungey spent the first half of the race closing the gap on Reed, turning lap times nearly a full second faster. On the ninth lap Dungey made a mistake and tucked the front end causing him to crash. He quickly recovered but lost his position to Stewart. On lap twelve, Stewart made a slight mistake that Dungey capitalized on and moved his KTM back into 3rd. On the next lap, Reed crashed which allowed Dungey and Stewart to close on him. The three riders then began a battle for 2nd place that ran for the next four laps.

The crowd was on their feet as the three battled it out swapping positions. On the sixteenth lap, Stewart crashed, marking one crash for each of them. Stewart’s crash cost him a lot of time and he recovered in 6th position allowing Reed and Dungey to pull away. Dungey continued to pressure Reed for the remaining laps eventually crossing the line in 3rd just a bike length behind Reed.

Dungey’s podium finish marked the first for the KTM brand in its U.S. Supercross racing history. It also marked the first podium for the new KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition. “My bike ran flawlessly tonight,” remarked Dungey after the race. “I would have definitely liked to pass Chad and take 2nd tonight, but I am happy to earn KTM its first podium. I can’t thank the team enough for all they have done for me in the development of this new bike.”

Red Bull/KTM Factory Team Manager Roger DeCoster commented, “The entire team is excited for the podium finish but we also know that 2nd place was within our reach tonight. We were happy with Ryan’s performance but we know we have some areas that need work and we will begin to correct them immediately this week. We hope to continue this success into next week and improve our position on the podium.”

MURRIETA, Calif. – It is with great excitement that KTM announces the release of the 2012 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition. This is an entirely new model which showcases a brand new 450 SX-F engine and chassis that make this the bike of choice for KTM’s newest 450 pilot, Red Bull/KTM rider Ryan Dungey.

Power for the Factory Edition comes from the new generation 449.3cc fuel-injected, single-cam, lightweight, four-stroke engine. In addition, the motorcycle features an entirely new chassis, including a new frame design, newly designed black anodized triple clamps and a new one-piece cast swingarm with a larger diameter axel all combined for a new level of performance handling.

If that wasn’t enough, the bike also comes equipped with aggressive new generation bodywork, an orange powder-coated frame, racing seat cover, orange anodized rear sprocket, black Excel rims, orange radiator protectors, Dunlop MX51 tires, black anodized Renthal Fat bar and Factory Red Bull KTM SX Team graphics. In addition, the Factory Edition will also include a user setting tool which gives the rider the necessary software to adjust the injection and ignition for every RPM range.

This premium race machine retails for $9,599 and can be seen in action for the first time on January 7^th at the AMA Supercross opener in Anaheim, CA. Bikes will be available at KTM dealerships in spring of 2012.
