It is Thanksgiving evening, November 26th 2009 and is my yearly tradition to reflect on the past year.

My goal for this year was to simplify, organize and try to get some of my projects done. I did make some progress on those goals. But old habits are hard to break. Still working on a few of the goals and I am closer on completing my first book.

This post covers many of my thoughts on that thought process [ Click Here To Read ].

I do want to take this time and share what I’m thankful for.

First and foremost I’m thankful for my wife who is there for me day after day to support and console me on life’s challenges and successes. I’m thankful for two healthy daughters and this year I’ve been blessed by two grandchildren, Logan my 5 month old grandson by my oldest daughter Kellianne and her husband Kyle, and Amy my 3 week old grand daughter by my youngest daughter Jessica and her husband Dustin. Next i’m thankful for my business partner Zachary McCullough who puts up with my sanity and our Office Assistant Sue Thompson who helps keeps things in order and moving forward.

I’m thankful for my Accountability Partner Val Dawson who checks in on a weekly to hold me accountable to move forward and see real progress. I’m thankful for my internet friends and business partners and Armand Morin’s AM2 Group for their leadership and direction. I’m thankful for my weekly mastermind meetings with Bret Ridgway and Bryan Hane who help brainstorm ideas and give feedback on projects in progress.

I’m thankful that I live in a country where I can Worship in the church of my choosing, and have the opportunity to own and operate a business. I’m also thankful that we are able to openly express our opinions and freely discuss what is on our minds.

…Lo pseudo-sequel di una serie tutto massacri e niente cervello: che ne sarà venuto fuori?

Kite Liberator

Monaka Noguchi è la figlia di un astronauta che da quattro anni lavora sulla ISS: è una 16enne scolara come tutte, che per mantenersi dopo la morte della madre -oltre ai soldi che il padre riesce ad inviarle- lavora come cameriera in uno squallido bar di periferia.
Lei ha tuttavia un segreto. Quando la notte cala, si trasforma nell’angelo della morte: un’assassina che su commissione elimina la feccia della città come maniaci, assassini, stupratori et similia.
Ma riuscirà Monaka per sempre a mantenere la sua doppia identità senza farsi scoprire? E i problemi che si stanno sviluppando sulla stazione spaziale in che modo la coinvolgeranno?

In primis, va detto che questo è il seguito di Kite (come il nome suggerisce), ma l’unica cosa che è direttamente correlata è la pistola usata dalle due protagoniste, e null’altro. L’idea di base rimane la stessa: sparatorie e sangue, personaggi invischiati in un mondo degradato e cinico, palpate varie, una storia che potrebbe anche non esistere.

Partiamo da quest’ultimo punto: la trama. Se nel primo Kite era banale, in questo caso si arriva a livelli di insulsità davvero notevoli. Non rivelerò nulla per non togliere il gusto allo spettatore di scoprire come dei problemi su di una stazione spaziale possano coinvolgere una ragazzina sulla terra, ma ad un certo punto ero incredulo davanti a delle idee così… così… brutte. Fino a quando si rimane sulla terra e si seguono le vicende di Monaka le cose funzionano più o meno bene, si rimane nel classico filone delle persone con doppia vita: il resto è pattume che avrebbero potuto defenestrare senza rimpianti, facendo un gran bene ai cinquanta minuti di proiezione.

I personaggi risultano un po’ meglio della trama: ovviamente non c’è il tempo per alcuno sviluppo, ma si intravede lo stesso stile precedentemente utilizzato dagli stessi autori in Kite e Mezzo Forte: come sopra detto, tutte le personalità coinvolte si muovono ai confini della malavita, in sobborghi degradati e in cui l’unico modo per sopravvivere è lavorare con elementi socialmente inaccettabili. Per il resto si può dire poco: è un peccato che non si sviluppi assolutamente il personaggio di Mukai: sembra essere interessante, ma non si vede praticamente nulla di lei. Il padrone del locale è decisamente strano, ma risulta simpatico.
I personaggi sulla stazione spaziale, ovviamente, avrebbero fatto meglio a morire tutti prima dell’inizio della storia qui narrata.

Un punto sul quale Kite aveva guadagnato la maggior parte dei suoi punti è la violenza: sparatorie, accoltellamenti, sbudellamenti e crudeltà varie erano davvero ben realizzate ed originali. In questo caso lo stile rimane lo stesso, ma purtroppo le scene d’azione sono drasticamente ridotte: ancora una volta, la fetida parte della ISS e ciò ad essa correlato ruba spazio a possibili massacri (offrendone solo uno, simpatico ma comunque meno appassionante dei soliti).
Anche a terra, in ogni caso, c’è violenza ma un po’ meno marcata del precedente OVA: sangue ne scorre un po’ meno, e con un po’ meno fantasia (e mostrato in maniera un po’ meno cruenta). Un peccato, perché da quel punto di vista gli animatori ci sanno fare e i risultati sono molto gradevoli se piace il genere.

Il disegno a me è piaciuto molto: non sempre la qualità è al massimo, ma quando lo è risulta davvero impressionante. La CG è ai limiti del realismo, ed è un peccato che non si integri totalmente con il resto dei disegni circostanti e venga utilizzata non molto spesso.
L’audio è praticamente assente anche in questo caso.

Insomma, cosa si può pensare di Kite Liberator? Si può pensare che, tentando di darsi un’aria un po’ più complessa del suo predecessore, abbia annacquato la cosa che lo caratterizzava e lo rendeva simpatico da guardare: l’estrema violenza semi-gratuita. Con una storia oltre i limiti dell’imbarazzante e meno sparatorie, chiaramente il risultato è inferiore: non è una tragedia da guardare (alcuni pezzi son davvero simpatici, e poi non dura nemmeno un’ora) ma sarebbe stato meglio se avessero continuato a fare ciò che sanno fare al meglio.

Voto: 6. Balla a filo con il 5,5, ma un paio di scene strappano una macabra risata e quindi gli concedo la sufficienza.

Consigliato a: chi non si offende se una storia comprende assassini, mutanti, curry, ossa, doppie identità, astronauti e baristi ciccioni pezzati con la suoneria miagolante del cellulare; chi vuole un po’ di sana violenza splatter, anche se meno di quanto si vorrebbe; chi si chiede quanto possono far male un curry mal cucinato o una birra speziata.

Well put it this way, Windows 7 (Business and Ultimate) have an added compatibility feature called ‘XP Mode’, so the big question is, do you want to pay hundreds of £/$ on an operating system thats more than likely going to have to emulate the software you’ve been using. Don’t get me wrong, Windows 7 offers some good offerings, but nothing that can’t be added to XP with 3rd party software.
Vista users:Hell yeh! If you’re on Windows Vista, or been on Vista. Windows Vista did something amazing, instead of promoting Microsoft and boosting the love at Microsoft, it boosted the love for alternate options like Mac OSX and Linux, Microsoft are prob the only ones who’ll manage to do that! If you’ve gone through the moodswings of Windows Vista you deserve to put 7 on your machine thats been battling through it all with ya, personally it should be free for Vista users as compensation if you ask me.

Windows 7 has many new features which are finally gonna change the way you use Windows. Windows 7 now features some major ‘Aero‘ enhancements, in fact alot. And, I’ve got to admit they really improve the way you use Windows. Aero Snap to easily have two windows in view at the same, which is handy, the method can also be used to maximise the windows, I know, rather neat. Other features include Aero Shake, which easily allows on window to be the centre of attention and get rid of the rest temporarily, then, shake, and their back, also very useful. You’ll find yourself trying to do these features more or less all the time.
The Explorer in Windows 7 also has some great enhancements, basically fixing the Vista one, things are laid out easily and it makes using it alot more easier. It also features more sharing options. So, I know what you’re thinking, its Vista with a few appearance changes, oh no. Windows 7 is alot more than (a bit more of) a pretty face it also has a few hidden enhancements, Action Center replaces Windows Security Center improving in-built security which is always a good thing, Windows Media Center has a new look (like a green Zune) which is a big more slick than before, and, oh yes, that dock … err… I mean, ‘Windows Taskbar’. Windows Taskbar allows you to see only your program icon nice and big, but also interact with the programs by either right clicking or view (if multiple windows open) by hovering over, a new Aero feature that. It also allows you to “pin” programs to the taskbar for future quicklaunch, all these features do sound familiar don’t they? You maybe thinking Windows Sidebar is no more, but no, now simply referred to as ‘Gadgets’, all the so-called sidebar stuff now can be put anywhere on your desktop, but also if you add it to where the sidebar would be they click in to place, which is nice. Windows 7 also has added touchscreen support, useful for users on Tablets. Improvements have been added to the Start menu as well, one nice add-on is the fact that ‘Shut Down’ is now one button and not hidden behind an arrow. Also it includes a feature which allows you to open, for example, older visited pages for Internet Explorer, or documents for ‘Word’, nice that. I normally wouldn’t mention a new version of Media Player, but Windows Media Player 12 has some nice new additions, unfortunately WMP11 looked better, but it now supports ‘.mp4′ which is nice. It also comes with IE8 …. (bring on the sarcastic woo). Windows classic applications such as WordPad and Paint get a very nice update, including the look first seen in Office ‘07 and Paint is now not a bad program at all for image editing and creating with the new brush options.
But I think the biggest Pro we can give Windows 7 is, the release version is, well, actually rather stable.

1. Nice update if your a Vista user
2. Very stable, keep that one up for future releases please Microsoft
3. Windows Media Center alot clearer and helpful
4. WMP12 has new codec, most importantly H.264
5. Improved Account Control
6. Very useful Aero features / Aero Shake Aero Snap etc
7. New taskbar helps with multiple programs running and program management.
8. Updated Paint and Wordpad look and feel, and features. Finally
9. Gadgets no more stuck to one side of the desktop.
10. New Explorer look and feel.
11. Added compatibility
12. DirectX 12 (For all you gamers out there)
13. Easier to disable UAC << Like that one

Cons
1. Not enough to make XP users upgrade
2. Most old software still rely on ‘XP Mode’.
3. Whilst the taskbar is nice, still has the same UI from back in Windows 95.
4. Very expensive for the small amount of differences with Vista
5. Why still 6 versions.
6. Added Security? Then why does it still need virus protection
7. Same system requirements than Vista
8. Definitely not enough to make new Mac users switch back.
9. A bit too-like Vista

Overview
Windows 7 is a nice upgrade and adds many features that are not found in previous versions of Windows. Whilst these features are useful, I do fail to see many features that would put me first in the queue for Windows 7. Windows 7 is a must-have however for Vista users as it, not only makes using the computer better but XP Mode will make those old dusty apps will finally run on that recently bought computer.
- Some nice additions, but nothing that appeals to XP or recent switches thanks to Vista.

O poranku nie działo się nic szczególnego. Jak zwykle się pożywiłam i włożyłam na siebie materiały chroniące mnie przed zimnem. Dopiero po południu spotkałam blondyna. Nagle zamarzyłam sobie zobaczyć, czy ktoś zauważył moją nieobecność.

-Filameno, musimy zajrzeć do zwierciadła.-szybko wyjaśnił chłopak. Kobieta z uśmiechem wyjęła jakieś lustro. Później wyjaśniono mi, że kobieta jest niema, przez to nie odpowiedziała.

Podeszłam do lustra, które On położył na kamiennym stole.  Na początku nic, prócz nas, nie było widać. Ale po chwili pojawiły się jakieś niewyraźne kształty.

-Ale czad!-podskoczyłam z podziwu. Corll popatrzył się na mnie z niezrozumieniem.-To wyraz mojej radości.-wyjaśniłam.

W końcu zobaczyłam mój dom. Mama wyglądała, jakby płakała całą noc. Potem przenieśliśmy się do auta mojego taty. Jeźdźił, rozglądając się na wszystkie strony. Wreszcie zobaczyłam Kukaia. Ze łzami w oczach jechał swoim autem. “Zaraz, łzy?!” pomyślałam “Płacze?!”. Nie chciałam, by tak się stało. Nie wiedziałam, że chłopak będzie płakał z takiego powodu.Przeze mnie.

-Czy on mógłby przenieść się do tego świata?-spytałam cicho. Prawie szeptem.

-Nie.-odparł blondyn.-Nie może, Cheza. Po co Ci on? Ostatnio nie byłaś zadowolona z jego powodu, więc tym bardziej teraz nie powinien ci być potrzebny. Chodźmy już lepiej.-ze złością złapał mnie za rękę i wyszedł ze mną z komnaty. Czy on był zazdrosny?

W połowie drogi do mojego pokoju zatrzymałam nas szarpnięciem. Powiedziałam, że chcę poznać moich ludzi. Nie wiedziałam, jak to powiedzieć. Podwładni? W każdym razie wyszliśmy na dwór, na wieś.

Nie obeszło się bez kilku rycerzyków, gdyby okazało się, że ktoś mnie nie lubi, a raczej bardziej chce zabić. Gdy ludzie zobaczyli mnie, a raczej koronę, od razu padli na kolana.

-Widzisz, ile z nich ukradkiem podnosi głowę?-spytał, a raczej stwierdził Corll.-Jesteś dla nich piękną księżniczką, widzą w tobie twoją babcię. Możesz sobie któregoś wybrać na rycerza.

Pokiwałam głową z zaprzeczeniem. Za takie rzeczy wezmę się kiedy indziej. Ale zakochani we mnie? Więc aż tak wielu ludziom się podobam?

-Cieszę się, że mogę być waszą królową.-powiedziałam głośno. Miałam nadzieję, że każdy mnie uslyszał. Potem wróciliśmy do zamku. Obiecałam sobie, że jeszcze kiedy indziej pójdę do tych ludzi. Chciałam ich lepiej poznać, ale dziś mieliśmy spotkanie przy stole.

-Nasi żołnierze są wyszkoleni, jest nas dużo…-i tak dalej paplali sobie. Niby interesowala mnie wojna w naszym kraju, ale nie walka. Miałam nadzieję dojść do porozumienia z wrogiem. Gdy opowiedziałam to innym z początku wątpili, ale to ja rządziłam i musieli zabrać mnie do tych innych.

Ich osada była wprost ohydna. Smoki, wampriry, czarownice, orki i przekształcone stwory. Jedynie ich król wyglądał jak czlowiek. Nie ma co opowiadać na temat naszej rozmowy. Człowiek był zdziwiony, że do nich przyszłam. Myślał, że to już walka. Ale ja go uspokoiłam i przekonałam, że jesteśmy w dobrych zamiarach.

-Nie chcemy walki-wyjaśniłam z uśmiechem, ale On prychnął. Zaczęłam mówić, że wojna nie ma sensu. I nic by to nie dało, gdyby nie to, że nagle znikąd wyszedł jego syn i, widząc mnie, powiedział do swego ojca:

-Jeśli ona zostanie moją żoną, chcę abyś przerwał walkę.-a mnie aż zaparło dech w piersiach. Ja bym się miała żenić? Wszyscy na mnie patrzyli, a najbardziej blondyn stojący obok mnie. Szeptał “nie”. Mimo tego zgodziłam się. Corllondi odwrócił ode mnie wzrok, jakby z obrzydzeniem. Ale w królewicza wpadła taka radość, że odrazu do mnie podszedł i powiedział do ojca, że chce poślubić mnie pojutrze lub nawet już jutro. Poprosiłam, aby dał mi wrócić dziś do zamku, a że jutro przyjdę znów i ustalimy wszystko.

Gdy wróciliśmy, było już późno, więc od razu poszłam do mojego loża, jak to nazwały moje służące-nimfy. Ale nie mogłam zasnąć, chociaż byłam taka zmęczona. To przez ten ślub. Nigdy mi nie zależało na tym, czy kiedyś zostanę starą panną. Mogłam też się ożenić, gdyby ktoś chciał. Byłam pewna, że się nie zakocham. Zawsze byłam obojętna. Ale teraz miałam chęć do bycia z kimś innym. Z moimi przyjaciółmi – Corrlondi’m, podwładnymi, całym królestwem, a nawet.. Kukai’em.

Z myślą o nim pognałam do komnaty Filameny. Na szczęście kobieta jeszcze nie spała.

-Wiedziałam, że tu przyjdziesz.-powiedziała. Zdziwiłam się, przecież była niema! Ale także dziwna.-Już się przygotowałam. Chcesz tego chłopaka, prawda?

Tak, chciałam Kukaia mieć jako kogoś. Może jakiś doradca? Tylko po co ciągnąć go tutaj?

-A czy dałabym radę z nim porozmawiać?-spytałam, a starsza pani spojrzała na mnie ze zdziwieniem.

-Tak.. Czy mogłaby pani poczekać chwilę, wielmożna?-spytała. Zgodziłam się, a po chwili przygotowała wywar i wylała go na lustro. Płyn wyparował. Staruszka skinęła głową jakby do siebie, a jakby do mnie.

Podeszłam do zwierciadła, w którym widać było chłopaka i zaczęłam mówić:

I don’t know how long it’s been since I blogged, a couple of months? Whatever. I’ve been really tired lately, for no reason too. Shit just hasn’t been working the way I wanted it to, so yea. I decided to take a break from fighting games for a while, need to calm my brain over this obsession, play some other stuff, and finish the backlog that I have. The recent weeks has been chill, life wise anyway. So I’m gonna try to keep it like that for a while.

Need more sleep apparently. Damn……

P.S. Super Street Fighter IV is getting more hype by the second. With the recent annoucement of Guy,Cody, and Adon, this is shaping up to be a worthy sequel to Vanillla Street Fighter IV and, in some cases, better.

P.P.S.: I do plan to write in this blog more. My good computer got a virus and basically doesn’t work anymore, so I wasn’t able to do much. But I still blog when I can, hopefully more now that I have a little bit of time on my hands.
