Intel sepertinya mempercepat pengunaan teknologi RISC. Nehalem-EX menawarkan performa procesor yang lebih murah, tetapi berkemampuan tinggi. Selain itu, Nehalem-EX lebih hemat power dan memudahkan bagi pengembangan dibidang IT.

Nehalem-EX diperuntukan bagi server procesor, menawarkan kecepatan 9x kecepatan bandwidth dibandingkan generasi terakhir Xeon 7400. Nehalem-EX juga dapat menampung memory 2 kali lipat dengan 16 slot memory module dengan 4 kali lebih cepat pada tranfer memory melalui QPI.

Chip baru Nehalem-EX memiliki beberapa fitur yang dimiliki Itanium procesor seperti Machine Check Architecture. Dengan Nehalem-EX sudah di disain dengan 8 core procesor didalamnya dan mendukung 16 thread serta 24 cache memory. Dengan arsitek QPI maka sebuah sistem dapat dipasang sampai 8 procesor dan menghasilkan 128 thread. Dengan keluarnya Nehalem-EX, dipastikan procesor Intel terbaru seri Itanium akan tertunda sampai awal tahun depan.

Apple have also improved the Mac Pro, the beast computer from Apple, in fact they’ve made two, one is a Quad-Core and one is an 8-Core. Also featuring the ‘Nahelem’ processors from Intel meaning even faster and more realiable processing, according to Apple almost 2x previous model.

Two versions, why?
Don’t know really, probably to save you a bit I guess, but to be honest I don’t know why.

Improvements
Well as you would probably expect, they’re is a Mini Display Port so you can use the all new Apple displays on all Apple computers, and this is one thing Apple makes that can’t go to other PC manufacturers thanks to the currently Apple only display port. So main improvements is, two versions, one meaning you can get a Mac Pro for a tad, but only a tad cheaper.

Are you trying to be disappointed?
Oh god completely no, I just generally are with the Mac Pro becuase the only improvements are an improved chipand the iMac because it doesn’t have Quad, never thought I’d say this, but based on improvements the Mac Mini shines!

E’ da oggi disponibile sull’Apple Store il nuovissimo MacPro con caratteristiche davvero spaventose!

Il processore è, come da qualche anno, un Intel Xeon ma la novità è che la velocità della CPU è salita a 3,2Ghz e lo standard è ben 8 core (2 processori da 4 core). La memoria di cache di questo “mostro” è di ben 12MB (L2) per processore più altri 6 MB condivisa tra i vari core.

Il Front Side Bus (FSB) ha una frequenza di 1600Mhz per ogni CPU e la banda passante puo arrivare fino a 26,5 GB/s.

Come gli altri della serie ha il supporto per l’SSE4 SIMD e il supporto per istruzioni a 128 bit

Apple updated their Mac Pro and Xserve yesterday yesterday, exactly a week before Steve’s Keynote. Neither updates have design changes, but just internal changes. The Mac Pro comes with an 8-core processor standard and the new Xserve comes with Quad-Core standard (8-core an option). The new models are shipping now from the Apple Store.

My main guess is that they announced it early so they could make room for bigger and better things for the Keynote. I doubt Steve would want to introduce an update that’s not really big for his biggest event of the year.
