drew and i took on north mountain this weekend and it was amazing. so beautiful. we took the main trail up but then came down the back way, which was much more rough and natural. the weather was absolutely gorgeous. (1/2 times for 1/12 months)

goal #33, compliment at least one stranger every day:
working at starbucks makes this goal a lot easier.  (21/1001)

goal #64, buy something from etsy once a month:
bought this piece today.  love it. can’t wait for it to come in! (1/33 months)

goal#76, check account for spending twice a week:
it wasn’t a great week for me spending wise. i did do pretty well though! and i returned that pair of shoes i got from target last week, so that was exciting!  (2/2 times for 3/131 weeks)

goal #81, wash hair using the no-poo system for a month:
hair FINALLY dried out. i didn’t wash it at all this week! pretty disgusting, but i love it. will wash it today, promise. yayayayayay! i think that i shall keep it up!  (3/4 weeks)

New York Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent-In-Charge John P. Gilbride (DEA), Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan and Stamford Police Chief Brent Larrabee announced the arrests of three people in connection with a drug organization based in Stamford, Connecticut that distributed cocaine throughout New York City. Thirty seven kilograms of cocaine, 10 grams of marijuana and approximately $1,000,000 were seized during this investigation.

During the six-month investigation, agents identified Eduardo Taverez, Victor Marte and Harry Estevez as members of this drug distribution enterprise. On November 5, 2009 members of the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force DEA-Group T-21, Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor, DEA’s Bridgeport Resident Office and Stamford Police Department conducted an extensive surveillance on the defendants which led to the seizure of $1,000,000 U.S. Currency and 37 kilograms of cocaine which were found in 255 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Apt. C-4, Stamford, Connecticut.

DEA Special Agent-In-Charge John P. Gilbride stated, “Time after time we have seen drug distributing organizations operating outside of New York City to evade law enforcement, which signifies drug trafficker’s mistaken belief that if you stash drugs, or the proceeds generated from drug trafficking, outside of New York City – law enforcement will not find you. This investigation illustrates law enforcement’s commitment to investigating and ultimately identifying those responsible for delivering drugs throughout our community.”

New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan said, “The results achieved last night — the seizure of more than 80 pounds of cocaine and about one million dollars — are directly linked to the outstanding efforts and keen investigative sense of all the law enforcement people involved in this investigation. Efforts like this are the best weapon against those who try to smuggle large amounts of narcotics for distribution in New York City.”

Stamford Police Chief Brent Larrabee stated, “In this investigation, cross jurisdictional cooperation was instrumental. Borders offer no protection for these criminal groups, law enforcement cooperation can and will defeat these organizations. Stamford is not a safe haven for traffickers who want to poison the lives of our citizens”

i’m writing don a letter right now. i don’t feel like there’s a whole lot to update him on, but at least he’ll know i love him (1/11 letters)

working at starbucks makes this goal a lot easier. this week i complimented a few men, and got some nice tips. one guy tipped me six bucks after i complimented his t-rag belt buckle. holler.  (14/1001.)

left two notes today while we were out shopping. it made me smile just doing it.

not completed yet, but thinking about this piece. i need it to sit with me for just a little bit longer. what do you think? (0/33 months)

goal#76, check account for spending twice a week:
i didn’t even use my card at all until yesterday, but i did check my account when i got home. i also just got done shopping with my mom and am glancing over those purchases now. my dad sprung it on me this week that i’ll also be paying for my gas now. i can’t really complain though, it is about time! i’m so spoiled. i’m hoping that my tips will be able to cover all my gas expenses.  (2/2 times for 2/131 weeks)

goal #77, save $100 per month:
just transferred $100 over into savings. go me! (1/33 months)

goal, #78, pay off credit card:
just paid off another $100. rawr rawr rawr. why did i get a credit card in the first place?

goal #81, wash hair using the no-poo system for a month:
my hair is really oily still. i was under the impression that the baking soda would dry it out some. still washing my hair with no-poo every other day. this is what i did with regular shampoo oh well, i am still enjoying it and i actually really like the gritty feeling. is that weird? (2/4 weeks)

goal #82, shop at thift stores before going retail:
well, i needed new work shoes, and i didn’t want to spend a lot of time trying to find them. i don’t even know if a second hand store would carry the kind opf work shoes i need. i’d have to be soooo lucky. so i went to target and i spent$30 on work shoes. that were comfortable in the store and once i got home, i put them on, walked to the front door, took them off and went straight back to my room to put my old ones one. goodbye shoes, hello return!

goal #13, no fast food:
this week, i have had a sick craving for a sausage breakfast sandwich. nevermind the fact that i don’t eat pork products and haven’t for some time, really. i even went into the mcdonald’s (MCDONALD’S!!!) drive thru on saturday morning before i had to open at work to get one. luckily, they don’t start serving breakfast until 4am, and since that was the time i had to be at work, no sausage biscuit for me! other than that, avoiding fast food has been pretty easy for me.

working at starbucks makes this goal a lot easier. i’ve complimented (mostly women) on their hair, eye color, clothes, etc all week and it is lovely to see their faces light up. 7/1001.

already done for november, thanks to kelsi. we are reading janet evanovich’s stephanie plum series, and i just finished the fourth book in the series, four to score. it was a quick, easy read and absolutely hilarious. rex the hamster is awesome. 1/33

that’s $5 this week for the boots! woohoo! 1/101.

it was frightening, but i did it. booooo. definitely spent less than week than i would have otherwise. ugh. 2/2 times for 1/131 weeks.

goal #81, wash hair using the no-poo system for a month:
got back into it this week and i LOVE it! my hair is so much softer and shinier now. i just need to find a really good deep conditioner for it. i’ve hear avocados, mayonnaise and egg yolks are all good for dry hair, but i do need to research it a bit more to find a good recipe.  1/4 weeks.

goal #82, shop at thift stores before going retail:
had an itch for some new sweaters so i cleaned out my closet, took a bunch of clothes to buffalo exchange and got some cute new sweaters! a banana republic sweater, two cardigans, a knit cream colored shirt, a flowy, printed floral shirt and a vintage cream colored heart necklace for less than $50! yay me!

goal #94, blog twice a week:
well…this is my first post this week…luckily for me, my week starts on monday and ends on sunday, so i can still post one more today! however, twice in one day is not what i had in mind. oh well. done and done. 1/131.

Terrell Owens won’t be happy on any team unless the offensive scheme is designed to improve his stats.  Owens has complained to the media on numerous occasions that his Quarterback is not throwing the ball in his direction. For the most part he is right. There are plenty of Sport Center highlights featuring a player wearing a Dallas Cowboys number 81 jersey waving his hands as to say, ‘I’m open, I’m open’.

When Owens played in San Francisco, where he broke records and made it to the post season on two occasions, he was the go to guy on offense. The 49ers offense headed by Steve Young beat the Green Bay Packers in a wild card playoff, with a game winning catch by Terrell Owens. In 2000 Owens caught 20 passes in one game, breaking the 50-year-old record held previously by Tom Fears. In 2001 the 49ers found themselves in another wild card playoff game that they lost, ending a 12-4 season that saw Owens catch half of all the passes thrown by then quarterback Jeff Garcia. 2002 saw San Francisco end the season with a 10-6 record, and their 17^th NFC West title. That year, Terrell Owens caught 100 passes for 1300 yards, and 13 touchdowns. In an NFC wildcard playoff against the New York Giants who led by 24 points at one point in the game,  Owens scored two touchdowns, and two 2 point conversions to help the 49ers stage a comeback victory. When the ‘Niners’ stopped throwing to Terrell Owens, they  won 7 games and missed the post season.

In Philadelphia, where Owens again was a primary receiver, he made his one and only super bowl appearance.

The Dallas Cowboys made two consecutive playoff appearances, and the next year mysteriously stopped throwing the ball to number 81.  This resulted in a 9-7 record and no playoff appearance.

You would think that after witnessing the demise of teams who didn’t pass the ball to Owens, the next organization to acquire T.O. would throw him the ball. Well here we are at the end of the first quarter of the 2009 season, and the Buffalo Bills have not found a way to get him the ball. It’s no wonder they’re 1-4. A team with as much talent as the Bills should be doing a lot better than they are. They’ve lost to the Browns and Dolphins who have a combined record of 3-10.

Love him or hate him, you have to face facts and THROW HIM THE DAMN BALL!

” كلمات صغيرة ” اسم لكتاب ضم ما سطرته بيدها قبل رحيلها في اوراق يسيره ، قصيره ، متنوعة الموضوعات رغم انها  لم تاخذ اكثر من 37 صفحة لا غير ، هذه السطور القليله تختصر رحلة كفاح و حياة طويله في ومضات تشبه ضوء البرق الخاطف ، صفحات نقرأها ونحن نطويها سريعا وكأنها ايام العمر الذي يمضي بنا دون ان نشعر بسرعته او قرب انتهائه .

في هذا الكتاب الوجداني تتحدث عن حبها لله ، لاسرتها الصغيره ،  لشعر محمد اقبال ، عن مشاعر متعدده  تعتريها ، ، عن المعرفة البشريه ، عن الأمل ، عن الغربة التي اخذت من عمرها سنوات وسنوات وتطرح تسأولاتها الملحة  مخاطبة الله    ” … يا الهي ! كيف يستطيع انسان ان يقتل انسانا آخر بغير حق ؟! ، وكيف يستطيع انسان ان يعذب انسانا مهما كانت الاسباب ؟! ” .

تنقش خوفها من ان تدفن خارج بلادها حيث تكتب امانيها البسيطه مخاطبة  زوجها   ” …. كم اتمنى يا عصام – وهذا جزء من ضعفي البشري وشعوري الانساني لم استطع التخلص منه بعد -  ان نعود قبل موتنا الى دمشق ، وان نقضي ما بقي من حياتنا – ان كان في حياتنا بقيه – هناك ، وان ندفن – عندما يحم اجلنا – بجوار من سبقنا من اهلنا و احبابنا في تربة الدحداح او الباب الصغير …ولكن يبدو لي – والموت يتعقبنا في كل وقت وفي كل مكان – اننا سندفن في الغربة كما عشنا في الغربة ..بعيدا .. بعيدا ..عن الأهل و الوطن . “

في يوم 17 مارس من عام 1981 ميلاديه اقتحم ثلاثة افراد مبتعثين من المخابرات السوريه شقة جارتها (الألمانيّة) وأجبروها على أن تحدثها في الهاتف وتخبرها أنها قادمه لزيارتها ، حين فتحت باب منزلها بمدينة آخن قتلها مطاردي زوجها بغتة بخمس طلقات رصاص في اماكن متنوعه من جسدها الذي سكنته روحها المسانده والمعينه لزوجها الداعية الجليل الأستاذ عصام العطار والمطارد سياسيا كونه كان المراقب العام الثاني لجماعة الاخوان المسلمين في سوريا في اعقاب استيلاء حزب البعث على السلطة بتاريخ 8 مارس 1963 ميلاديه حيث تم اضطهاده وكثيرا ما طرقوا داره وانتزعوه من بيته لوضعه في غياهب السجون وكانت تقف دوما متماسكه مستمدة من ايمانها بالله كل قوة تحتاجها ، شامخة امام التعسف والقمع ، راضيه بما اختاره شريك حياتها و مؤمنة به .

سكنت سطور ابيها

كانت قبل ساعة من موتها قد تحدثت على الهاتف مع ابيها الشيخ على الطنطاوي في السعوديه و الذي كتب عن ما حدث ذاكرا  ” …
لقد كلمتها قبل الحادث بساعة واحدة، قلت :أين عصام؟ قالت: خبروه بأن المجرمين يريدون اغتياله وأبعدوه عن البيت . قلت: وكيف تبقين وحدك؟ قالت: بابا لا تشغل بالك بي أنا بخير، ثق والله يا بابا أنني بخير ، إن الباب لا يفتح إلاّ إن فتحته أنا ، ولا أفتح إلاّ إن عرفت من الطارق وسمعت صوته، إن هنا تجهيزات كهربائية تضمن لي السلامة ، والمسلِّم هو الله.
ما خطر على بالها أن هذا الوحش، هذا الشيطان سيهدد جارتها بمسدسه حتى تكلمها هي، فتطمئن، فتفتح لها الباب.
ومرت الساعة… فقُرع جرس الهاتف… وسمعت من يقول: كلم وزارة الخارجية… قلت نعم.
فكلمني رجل أحسست أنه يتلعثم ويتردد، كأنه كلف بما تعجز عن الإدلاء به بلغاء الرجال، بأن يخبرني… كيف يخبرني؟؟؟ ثم قال: ما عندك أحد أكلمه؟ وكان عندي أخي. فكلمه، وسمع ما يقول ورأيته قد ارتاع مما سمع، وحار ماذا يقول لي، وأحسست أن المكالمة من ألمانيا، فسألته: هل أصاب عصاما شيء؟؟  قال : لا، ولكن…. قلت: ولكن ماذا؟؟ قال: بنان، قلت: مالها؟؟ قال… وبسط يديه بسط اليائس الذي لم يبق في يده شيء…
وفهمت وأحسست كأن سكيناً قد غرس في قلبي، ولكني تجلدت وقلت هادئاً هدوءا ظاهريا، والنار تضطرم في صدري: حدثني بالتفصيل بكل ما سمعت. فحدثني… وثقوا أني مهما أوتيت من طلاقة اللسان، ومن نفاذ البيان، لن أصف لكم ماذا فعل بي هذا الذي سمعت…
كنت أحسبني جلدا صبورا، أثبت للأحداث أو أواجه المصائب، فرأيت أني لست في شيء من الجلادة ولا من الصبر ولا من الثبات.   ” .

قرأته اليوم واحببته ، عدد صفحاته 45 صفحة ، للراحلة  بنان علي الطنطاوي ، نشرته الدار الاسلاميه للاعلام ، و يتضمن صفحات ” كلمات صغيره ” مضاف اليها موضوعات قصيره ايضا مثل ” كيف تبتسمين و تتفائلين ؟ ” ، ” ليس لنا سواك يا الله ” ، ” الفزع الى الله ” ومن بعض ما ورد في سطوره :

” … لا يكفي ان تجد في الحياة الحب ، ولكنك تحتاج ان تجد مع المحبة الفهم ، وما اندر ان يجتمع الأمران ” .

” …   لقد مشيت طويلا وما ازال بعد على السفح ، فهل تراني ابلغ القمة او اقترب منها قبل الغروب ؟ ” .

” … قد يكون ما نخفيه أدل على حقيقتنا مما نبديه … ” .

National March for Equality

I first heard of this march shortly after the decision to keep Prop 8 in place was made, and I knew then I’d be attending. It felt important to me, to take part in what was a big movement for gay-kind, focusing on Marriage Rights and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. It’s really close to my heart, as an issue, and I want to be a part of the movement to bring about change in any and all ways I can. So in June I got a hotel room for the weekend [I decided to leave transport up to the hands of fate], and I prepared for myself for the event. I was excited.

And it finally came. Despite a lot of people pissing in the cereal of the march in the weeks before it, I [mostly] kept my mouth shut, because I knew the event was important not just to me, but to many of my peers and friends, as well as others across the nation. It was finally our turn to get our hands dirty, to get involved and to be a part of the process. To not simply hear about the history but to be a part of it, and take a stand for our rights. And it felt great to know that.

It was amazing to come into the area of McPherson Square on sunday morning and see swarms upon swarms of queer-folk and their allies there, to wander through the crowd, and feel the excitement and energy coursing through me and everyone else there. It was exciting, and invigorating. I didn’t even notice the crowd [usually I am very aware and somewhat claustrophobic in large crowds]. I found some of my friends amongst the group, and exchanged conversation, and simply stood and looked at the sheer masses of people. It was astounding. Masses!

I later found out there was about 200,000 people at the event. Incredible.

Anyway, we stepped off some long amount of time after 11:00 and wandered the march route, surrounded by people with flags and signs. Less rowdy than some at the front, but the spirit and feeling of community was in no way lacking. Though I did not yell much, I felt good representing at the event, and adding to the count of people.

There were few counter-protesters, and all of them were surrounded by queer folk of one kind or another, shouting and yelling.

When we got to the actual capitol, I was blown away. I REALLY got an idea of the sheer masses of people. It was astounding. They were everywhere! It was an amazing experience, and one I am proud and happy to have been a part of.
