So Saturday, I carried on decluttering and tidying my room. Its still not tidy, I have a lot of stuff to go through, but hopefully I’ll get if finished this week! I did sort out my wardrobe though so thats #76 complete. Although no doubt, I’ll probably do it again at another point in the year! Especially as I boxed up all my summer clothes and a few other clothes that I’m keeping but haven’t used in a while. The ones that haven’t been used in ages and I don’t want are in a big at the end of y bed, ready to go to the charity shop, along with other stuff that I’m getting rid of!

Order has been restored, to the wardrobe at least!

It did mean that I had to finally empty my suitcase though, which has been packed since I cam back home at the beginning of December! I’m leaving in two weeks as well, hardly seemed worth it really! But there, wardrobe sorted, just the rest of the room to deal with now!

Sunday, last day of January, so I had to make sure I got all the monthly things done… That is, writing a letter to someone and a part to myself in ten years… Finally got that finished today, so thats one less thing to worry about! Not that theres much more worrying to do for January, its over!

Problem is I can’t find my envelopes, or I didn’t bring them back with me or I might have put them somewhere… Or I simply can’t remember because its confusing having two rooms you live in! I think I may have to buy some more now anyway, they don’t appear to be anywhere here, but then I can’t tell for sure as its a tip still. May as well buy some more! The letters will have to reside in a box for now, so they can be kept safe and crease-free there!

And yesterday, being Monday, I decided to do a bit of sewing. My Mum got the sewing machine out to do a few jobs and whatever she was doing, sorting out jeans and dressing gowns. I thought I’d join in seeing as I’d found all my material over the past week. So I made a pair of shorts out of some pajamas I had… The trousers were too short anyway, well too short for my liking, so I cut them off! And I have a lovely pair of shorts now. The rest of the legs material can be used for my patchworking project I have on the list!!

A whole lot of ironing, pinning, unpicking and sewing later...

I’m pleased with them which is the good thing! Its the first sewing thing I’ve done without asking my mother  a million questions and asking her to help me! So my sewing ability is making process… I have other stuff to sew but not yet! I’ll go a bit at a time!

-daca ai ghinionul sa prinzi unul vechi, sa te pregatesti de cele mai ciudate zgomote din viata ta.

Dar daca facem exceptii de mici probleme, e un mijloc de transport OK, cu un traseu foarte “cuprinzator”. Plus ca face legatura dintre mine si Isabela. Plus ca la statia Aura Buzescu imi iau o punga de Star Snacks cu Pizza si pana pe la Romana o “dovedesc”.  :)

Daca aveti amintiri placute/neplacute cu 86-le, nu ezitati sa le faceti publice.

86-year-old Indian governor Narayan Dutt Tiwariji has resigned from office this week amidst claims a videotape has surfaced showing him having sex with 3 significantly younger women.

Tiwariji’s office released a statement denouncing the tape as a fake, and the claims as a “tissue of lies”. Or something like that. “There is absolutely no truth in the alleged news story which is nothing but sensation mongering and in poor taste… The Governor Shri Narayan Datt Tiwariji is 86 years old and in the evening of his life. The office of the Governor is constantly under public scrutiny and entirely above board.”

Nevertheless he resigned from congress a day later, for ‘health reasons’.

A local Indian television station broadcast the tape on Friday morning (Merry Xmas!), but a court injunction prevented them from airing the tape again later that afternoon. At which point it had already become viral anyway. Viva la YouTube!

Good day to you all! You’re actually looking at this blog, I’m impressed.
All it’s been on this blog is photography, photography and MORE photography. It’s a snowy Saturday, garden virtually untouched except from the cat.
So, heres a techy post.

I read about this on Engadget.
It’s a keyboard, but inside, is a PC. It’s like the 80’s! It’s an EXTREMELY good, compact idea, only $99, so that’s about £60ish, comes with Linux, or pay $50 (£30ish) extra for XP. Comes with a 1ghz processor and 512mb of RAM. I think it’s an amazing concept. Keyboard straight into monitor, win win situation. It will either boot from SD card, or 2.5″ HDD. It has a composite video out, or VGA. It only consumes 5 watts of power! The hard drive capacity has not been released as of yet.

Esse ano foi um dos piores que eu já acompanhei como torcedor. Pior que 2002 quando caímos para a segundona. Vejamos:

- lideramos o Paulista de ponta a ponta, com larga folga. Nas semis, perdemos as duas partidas para um Santos que não fez frente aos gambás. Fim de campeonato melancólico.

- Na Libertadores, passamos fácil pela pré. Na fase de grupos, arrancamos uma classificação que parecia impossível, com um gol incrível de CX ao apagar das luzes em Santiago. Nas 8as, imaginávamos um time aguerrido pela forma como conquistou a classificação. Ledo engano. Passamos nos pênaltis após tomar um gol no final do 2ºtempo. Nas 8as, contra um adversário de tradição mas sem a mesma força de anos atrás, conseguimos entregar uma classificação que parecia certa. Fim de campeonato melancólico.

- No Brasileirão passamos 19 rodadas, ou metade do campeonato, na liderança. Sem falar nas rodadas no G4. No final, quando tínhamos tudo para abrir imensa vantagem jogando contra adversários muito mais fracos, o time virou o fio. E foi se arrastando nos últimos 8, 10 jogos, até conseguir a façanha de perder uma vaga na Libertadores dada como certa. Fim de campeonato melancólico.

Tenho 38 anos e me tornei torcedor no pior período da história do clube, na malfadada década de 80, também chamada de década perdida. Em 76, o último título, eu tinha só 5 anos e não tenho lembranças dessa época. Não fosse um tio fanático, que me levou em quase todos os jogos do Palmeiras na década de 80, vá saber se a essa hora eu estaria aqui, com um misto de frustração, indignação e tristeza pelo meu time. Esse time de 2009 é um dos piores que vi, o que mais estragos fez no coração de sua própria torcida. Torcida, diga-se de passagem, que esteve sempre presente, apesar do ingresso no Palestra ser o mais caro do país. Como disse o amigo Tito do Expatriated sobre os times da década de 80, “os times de 20 anos atrás podiam ser horríveis, mas eram compostos por homens. Muitos não sabiam jogar futebol, é fato. Contudo se esforçavam dentro de campo.”. Na época, as derrotas não eram tão doloridas(ok, 86 foi triste) como agora, com essas falsas promessas de dirigentes, falsos craques, time falso.

Recomendo a leitura do do post indignado do Tito. Concordo com quase tudo que ele escreve ali. Só tiro do balaio de jogadores que não prestam pra vestir nosso manto: Figueroa, Danilo, Maurício Ramos, Cleiton Xavier, Deyvid Sacconi e Ortigoza. Claro, deixando Marcos, Pierre, Wendel e Bruno, além de Valdivia e Kléber, jogadores que honram e honraram nosso manto. Outra: espero que ele reavalie sobre sua decisão de não falar mais do Palmeiras.

Tito, o amor que sentimos por esse clube é muito maior que meia dúzia de picaretas que não são dignos de vestir nosso manto.  Aqui é Palmeiras, meu camarada !

History of the National Christmas Tree

The first National Christmas Tree, lit on December 24, 1923, in the middle of the Ellipse.

That Christmas Eve, at 5 p.m., President Calvin Coolidge walked from the White House to the Ellipse and “pushed the button” to light the cut 48-foot Balsam fir, as 3,000 enthusiastic spectators looked on. The tree, donated by Middlebury College, was from the President’s native state of Vermont.

From 1924 to 1953 live trees, in various locations around and on the White House grounds, were lit on Christmas Eve. In 1954 the ceremony returned to the Ellipse and expanded its focus. Local civic and business groups created the “Christmas Pageant of Peace.” Smaller live trees representing the 50 states, five territories, and the District of Columbia, formed a “Pathway of Peace.”

On December 17, 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower lit the cut tree donated by the people of Michigan. Cut trees continued to be used until 1973.

Center to the season’s celebration is the living National Christmas Tree, a Colorado blue spruce from York, Pennsylvania, planted on the Ellipse October 20, 1978. The tree stands as a daily reminder of the holiday spirit and of the tradition each succeeding President has participated in since 1923.

Here is 86-year-old Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams shooting a double deuce after the Titans beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.  This video is hilarious on so many levels, it’s rediculous.

Chega ao fim o El Ojo 2009. Em sua décima segunda edição, o maior festival de publicidade da América Latina, promovido pela revista LatinSpots, reuniu centenas de pessoas em Buenos Aires, Argentina. O hotel Hilton foi  palco para os três dias do evento, de 2 a 4, onde o Brasil foi aclamado por 86 vezes.

A principal agência do Festival foi a Leo Burnett Portugal, seguida pela brasileira AlmapBBDO. A lista é vasta. As brasileiras conquistaram 5 Grand Ojo, considerada a premiação mais valiosa em cada categoria. Também foram entregues 23 ouros, 23 pratas, 28 Bronzes e outros dois prêmios sem distinção de cor. São eles: “Melhor uso de Recursos Audiovisuais” e “O Terceiro olho”, que premia as melhores idéias.

O destaque se volta para a disputa entre AlmapBBDO e DM9DDB. Na briga direta, o resultado final é 9 ouros para a agência de Sérgio Valente, enquanto a Almap obteve 7 da mesma coloração.

Entre os Grand Ojo, a diferença também é pequena: 3 para DM9,  nas áreas de Internet, Gráfica e Outdoor com Take your Time, para Tok Stock, “Rotina”, para o Terra e Outdoor com “Cidade e País”. A Almap levou 2 GPs, na área de Cine/TV, com o filme Cachorro-Peixe, criado para a Volkswagen e Rádio, e Rádio, com “Copa de Champagne” para Escola Panamericana de Arte.

Além disso, o Brasil recebeu premiações locais. O país garantiu as cinco estatuetas que faltavam constar na lista. A Almap sagrou-se como a “Melhor Agência do Ano” no Brasil e Marcello Serpa, sócio e diretor de Criação da agencia, ganhou como melhor Diretor Criativo. A Melhor produtora brasileira foi a Vetor Zero/Lobo. Nando Cohen foi eleito o melhor Produtor e a Alpargatas Brasil venceu como “Melhor Anunciante do país”.

Diversas palestras também compuseram o El Ojo 2009. Além da entrega dos prêmios, a Organização apostou nos brasileiros. It’s a driving day, people. You know what that means? I am rocking, for the first time ever, a book on tape. Or more appropriately named these days, an audio book. I have never successfully listened to one before. But I figure driving 14 hours on my own is a perfect time to start. It’ll be like reading with my ears instead of my eyes. How awesome does that sound?? (no pun intended, teehee…)

Do you want to know which book I picked? It’s ridiculous really, because I’ve never read a book by this author, and I usually think the movies are kind of mushy. But I wanted something with substance (unlike my normal teen fiction reads), I wanted it to last through the many hours of driving, and I didn’t want to listen to something I’ve already read or or seen the movie.

I present to you…  The  Last Song.

I hope it is good and not just sappy, because heaven knows it will be sappy. But perhaps it will still be good. And if I like it, I can see the movie when it comes out. Because I know it will.

Fast forward to the beginning of the Finnair story. On November 1st, 1923, consul Bruno Lucander founded a pioneering company called Aero. As soon as the following year Aero made its first flight from Helsinki to Tallinn using a 4-passenger Junkers F13 aircraft, equipped with skis in winter and floats in summer.

We no longer land on skis, but we operate with one of the world’s most modern fleets. Our airline is now 86 years old, but we are in tune with the times in terms of both aircraft and attitude. Today Finnair’s scheduled traffic covers 9 long-haul destinations in Asia and New York in North America, as well as more than 40 city destinations in Europe.

Building the bridge between Europe and Asia has been the aim of the expanding Finnair – a strategy supported by Finland’s favorable geographical position: the shortest and most eco-efficient route from Europe to Asia passes via Helsinki. Our modern fleet with the Airbus A340 and A330 wide-bodied aircraft carries us far into the future.

And behind us is a long and distinguished past. Finnair, 86 years old on November 1st, is one of the world’s longest-established airlines.
