All you have to do is pull the battery out and put it back in. During the boot process of the Storm 2, it realizes that the screen is pushed in and tries to fix it my vibrating. It keeps on vibrating until it thinks the screen isn’t pushed in anymore. This happened to me and I was in a panic because I just got the phone so I thought to try the universal fix of removing the battery and boom the screen started working again after it vibrated a bit.

After playing around with the Storm 2 for a bit, I noticed one minor issue thats kind of annoying when you are on a tight deadline to get the Storm 2 configured for someone. When you are trying to do an Enterprise Activation, a box pops up and says that you need to reboot the device. You have two options either “Reboot Now” or “Reboot Later.” If you click “Reboot Now” or “Reboot Later” the device sits there and does nothing. The Blackberry basically hangs and does nothing. I have waited for like 10 minutes to see if the device would finish the Enterprise Activation or reboot by itself and it doesn’t. The only thing to speed things up is to cancel the Enterprise Activation, then turn the device off and then on, then a little pop comes up says rebooting device. After the reboot, the device continues with the Enterprise Activation all by itself. Then the phone is happy and ready to be deployed. I have had this happen to me with 5 different Storm 2’s. I’m thinking it is some kind of bug to do with a restrictive IT Policy and the firmware.

I got my hands on the Storm 2 and I’m loving it. The device is so much better than the original Storm. The screen is way more sensitive and easier to use. The screen doesnt feel like it is going to fall out. The clicking action is much approved. As well the speed of the device is amazing. The device comes with a 16GB micro SD card which is removable. I also like how the 4 buttons on the bottom are now part of the main screen. The only thing they didn’t approve on is the screen attracts finger prints like crazy. I like to keep my hands clean but after using the device for like 30 minutes it is covered in finger prints and smears. I guess thats why they include a cloth with the device. Overall I’m very impressed with the device, to bad it doesnt take advantage of Telus’ new 3G+ network.

Well, we knew it was coming at some point to Canada. And while the exact date is still unknown, Blacks photography, a retailer for TELUS in Canada has let the cat out of the bag regarding the BlackBerry Storm2 on TELUS. Posted on their website for all to see (and still yet to be removed) sits the BlackBerry Storm2 9550. At this time information is slim and TELUS has yet to actually announce it, but with their retailers posting images of it I’m quite certain this will come sooner rather then later, since they are already out there (props to JaredtheTelusGuy in the CB forums for also posting some live shots of one). Any Canadians been waiting for a BlackBerry Storm2?

Here we go again, running around the rumor mill. Only this time we have strong evidence to back it up. Two forum members over at the Crackberry site have posted evidence of the Storm2 9550’s release date on big red. Apparently its going to come to VZW on October 28th for $279 before taxes and rebates on a standard 2 year contract. It rings up at $349.99 on a 1 year plan, and $539.99 to buy it outright. a $100 rebate will be available in store, with VZW opting to go the instant discount route online. This has been a closely watched release as RIM has completely revamped their storm2 bringing more than just incremental improvements to this 2nd gen touchscreen behemoth. Buy now I’m sure we all know the specs and rundown, so check below for the leaked documentation. Drop a line in the comment section and let us know your thoughts. Whose going to pick one up?

UPDATE: VZW has seen fit to jump on the bandwagon and quietly launch the Storm2 9550. A press release has been spied on the web. It’s pictured below for all to see.

UPDATE #2: Inventory listing pics have been sent into Crackberry giving further proof to the October 28th release. The image also shows model pricing and codes. At this time, though not completely supported, there is reason to believe that the BOGO offer from big red will indeed be available for the new Storm2.

Seems a lot of people are having issues using the new BIS 2.8 feature of Gmail Wireless Contact Sync, hopefully this simple tutorial will help you out. It’s one of the easiest things to do and seems NOBODY can get it.

1.) Go to Email Setup and Login

2.) Select Email Account you want to Sync

3.) Scroll down to Synchronization Options, check the Contacts box and hit save

4.) You will now see Enterprise Activation (Note you will see an icon on your Home Screen that says “Activation”) Once that is done you will see “Activation Complete” on Home Screen pop up.

NOTE IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE ENTERPRISE ACTIVATION MESSAGE AFTER YOU SAVE SYNC CONTACT IN EMAIL SETTINGS IT WILL NOT WORK, JUST DELETE THE ACCOUNT AND START FROM SCRATCH. I DID NOT HAVE TO DO THIS, BUT BOTH METHODS WORKED FOR ME.

5.) Now to select which Contact to Sync go to Contacts app, hit BB key Options

6.) You will now see your Email Accounts show up, select the one you need to Sync.

7.) Wireless Synchronization “Yes” hit save and you’re all set =)

8.) You’re all complete…if that doesn’t work, delete the account and add it. You will see this after adding your account:

Here is a fairly simple and old technique I had forgot about and works wonders. You will never have to leave your BlackBerry to do the job of a laptop/desktop.

1) dL and install free BBNotepad

2) open BBNotepad hit BB key go to open

3) Browse SDCard/Directory where .rar/.zip is stored

4) Scroll down to your .rar/.zip file hit BB key and scroll to unzip

5) enjoy your files

There is also another app that does compress/extract files, it’s FileScout but only does .zip and not .rar, thus I have both installed and serve different purposes for me.

Using this mini “tutorial” along side my other for Unlimited dL via BlackBerry Browser, I never have to get on laptop/desktop to dL music/movies and I can do it on the go

Hope you have enjoyed my mini “tutorials” and I have more little things here and there to come

I must truly be obsessed because I’m searching for news about any new CDMA Blackberries on the horizon. Quite a bit of buzz is being generated about the Storm 2 (9550 is the CDMA version) and Essex (9650? Code name “Atlas”. It is the Tour redux with new trackpad and WLAN). Storm 2 is theoretically going to come out in October this year. The rumor mill has the Essex coming out at the end of this year or beginning of 2010.

I would be interested in the Essex if all the existing problems with the Tour has been fixed. Based on my observation on the number of complaints posted in Blackberry fan forums, the Tour still has quality control problems with hardware and software. You know it’s bad when people are anxiously awaiting for the new operating system or for a “green dot Tour”. The green dot version is allegedly a repaired Tour, so no more trackball, loose battery cover, rippling screen problems. Some people in the forum reported that their green dot Tours solved the “you sound muffled” issue when using it as a phone. Bluetooth connections with cars is still an existing problem regardless of type of Tour you receive.

The other future Blackberries being whispered about this year are the two versions of the Curve: code names Jupiter (8930) and Aries (8530) . I’m not sure if both Curves are going to make an appearance or if it will be just one. The rumor mill is placing both Curves to make an appearance next month. If true, then I would be interested in the 8930 rather than the smaller cousin. Both will have WLAN but the 8530 will not have GPS and has a smaller form-factor than the 8930.

I honestly do not believe that there will be three Blackberries available in October 2009. But, Verizon has made it’s entire Blackberry stable of phones available for their BOGO promotions, leading me to think that there are new ‘berries on the way.

This time, I think I might wait a few months to see if there are quality control issues. I don’t feel like paying for the privilege of being a guinea pig.

My message to RIM: Please get your “house” in order and oversee the quality of your phones before releasing them. The Storm and Tour are disasters, in my opinion.

The second reincarnation of the BlackBerry Storm is no longer a secret but there is still enough mystery around it for all of its unofficial appearances to make the headlines. That last video we came upon is particularly interesting as it demonstrates that Piezo technology that stands behind the new BlackBerry Storm 2 touchscreen.

It seems that RIM have managed for a second time in a row to produce a touchscreen that is nothing like what we have seen so far. The original BlackBerry Storm had some controversy surrounding it due to the fact that you actually had to press the display unlike what you might expect from a touchscreen device. While we did like it back then, the new Piezo technology looks miles ahead in terms of usability.

The Piezo technology in question makes the screen much softer to press when the phone is on, while still providing some nice feedback, the author making a peculiar comparison to a sponge. That technology also allows multi-touch input, unlike the first BlackBerry Storm where the whole screen was actually a giant button. In contrast, the BlackBerry Storm 2 is said to feel like you are actually pushing buttons located under the screen.

The Blackberry 9550 (Storm 2) will be RIM’s second touch screen smartphone, and an unofficial

The Blackberry 9550 (Storm 2) will be RIM’s second touch screen smartphone, and an unofficial report has said that the device will be released in the US with Telus on September 15th. Another source has also said the Storm 2 will come to Verizon sometime in October.

There has been talk of Telus emphasising the 15th of September in various commercials, without actually coming clean on what is due on that date.

RIM will be looking to put right the slight niggles that were raised by many buyers when the first storm was released, such as a lack of Wi-fi and a slightly wobbly screen. From what’s been seen so far, it’s looking very solid in all aspects. The device has been seen running both old and new firmware, and look’s very fast. Which is something that was a huge problem with the 9500/9530, especially whilst running the OS that it first shipped with (I must add however, with the latest OS on the Storm 1, it really isn’t a problem anymore).

Fingers crossed for the UK release to be soon after!

This is the much improved and hopefully bug ridden blackberry that should have been released last fall.

It looks the original blackberry storm of old with the same call menu buttons, but now are part of the click-able screen. A neat feature on this phone though has to bee that that click screen has been optimized to only “click” when the phone is a on.

On the software side, it mostly is unchanged from the original storm in regards to the os. Even though it is early software it still has the constant laggyiness (not a word lol), and most importantly, major the phone experiences slowdown from switching between portrait and landscape mode.

Here is hoping that RIM gets it act together and releases the phone with some important upgrades, that include:

built in wifi (all but confirmed, but missing in this “early” prototype).

optimize blackberry os for the phone to improve performance.

major improvements to their appstore ( way to slow it is over 3G), and the inclusion of more apps.

give users more built in memory alongside with the expandable flash drive.

- Supporto nativo a OpenGL 2

- Giochi in 3D più veloci e più avanzati al mondo

How Old?
(a) 95,500 years old
(b) 9,550 years old
(c) 955 years old

Answer:
Found in western Sweden, scientists believe that this spruce is 9,550 years old. Just to be clear about this: the tree itself is new. But scientists found a cluster of about 20 trees that are 5,660, 9,000 and 9,550 years old. They used carbon dating on the cones and wood, found underneath its crown, and that showed that its root system had been growing for 9,550 years. (Excerpt from: www.treehugger.com )
