Air Ambulance providing support in Cumbria

As part of the multi-agency response to the floods in northern Cumbria, our aircraft helimed 08 has been relocated to base in the area.

On Saturday 28th November at 12:03 we attended an incident at Higham Hall attending a female patient aged 60 with a head injury.

Higham Hall is a restored 19th century Gothic mansion close to Skiddaw and the Northern Fells in the Lake District used as an educational residential centre.

HM08 carried the patient to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

Today the Star phoned the emergency services.

This is not necessarily a bad thing

Da, ati citit bine titlul si nu… chiar nu glumesc. In caz ca vreti sa stiti daca data este corecta, da.. este si ea corecta. Miercuri 11.11.2009 vine sfarsitul lumii sau cu alte cuvinte era glaciara si nu, chiar nu vorbesc de Ice Age 3 sau 4 sau orice asemanator. Pur si simplu dau mai departe informatia primita de la statia meteo prin aeroportul Arad.

Dragi cetateni, prieteni… ne aflam la distanta de doar cateva zile de la schimbarea drastica a climei Pamantului. Viata, asa cum noi o stim nu va mai fi, poate ea nu va mai fi deloc. In data de 11.11.2009 noaptea temperatura aerului va scade la -999 de grade celsius, ceea ce inseamna temperatura de pana la 15 mai mare ca cea glaciara, o temperatura fatala si cataclismica care va omora totul in calea ei instantaneu. Nu vorbesc aiurea, am dovada:

Nu e poza tunata, nu e Photoshopata sau prelucrata sau orice altceva… E tristul adevar. Ce pot sa zic in momentele astea…? God help us all…

I’ve had a link on TRANSITIONS to Carl Calleman’s website for a while now, and my problem is that I’ve been so busy with book writing/editing since March 2009, that I haven’t checked his site out for a very long time. Thankfully, a wonderful stranger helper-angel named Vanessa emailed me a link to Carl Calleman’s article which I just read this morning. Oh happy, happy day!!! And just like that a ton of answers and insights all tumbled into place for me personally. Thank you Vanessa. 

Ever since September 9, 2009—the triple 999’s—I’ve felt another huge change. Ever since 09-09-09, I’ve been in more physical pain, I’ve had that old ascension symptom of suddenly being mentally unfocused or in a sort of mental fog that is amazingly frustrating when you’re trying your best to finish writing a book and edit the thing! The two obviously don’t go together well. Anyway,  I’ve personally felt a lot of changes since the 999’s of 09-09-09 and some of them were starting to get me down a bit to be honest. It felt to me like I’d suddenly arrived at ANOTHER new level or stage within this ongoing ascension process, and after ten freakin’ years of the most intense and painful transformational work I’ve ever been through—I wasn’t very excited and ready for more! I’m exhausted and in physical pain as I know many of you are too, and having some of these past old ascension symptoms flare-up again (while trying to finish a book) was getting to be almost too much for me at the moment. 

However, if I know even a small bit about the whys to new difficult situations and levels like this, then I’m good-to-go all over again. If I know that there are fabulous (evolutionary) reasons as to why I’m feeling like throwing in the towel lately, then that is my fuel to get me through the New Weirdness as I recently referred to it to Robin. If I can get a slightly higher perspective and understanding as to the multiple whys of the New Weirdness, well then, I’ve got my second-wind and am excited once again to make it to the Finish Line. All that is the gift and help that Vanessa’s link to Carl Calleman’s article about the triple 9’s has done for me. I’ve been living with the astrological archetypal Chiron dilemma of being an Immortal who is mortally wounded and I’ve been struggling with how I— in this life and new Age—am going to solve this uncomfortable, painful, and wildly frustrating situation. Not so long ago I was delivering training on Lone Working & Personal Safety to a group of support workers. These extremely dedicated staff work for a large housing association and often find themselves working in extremely difficult situations with people who have very complex needs.

One of the fundamental messages of this particular training is that workers are not expected to place themselves in unacceptable risky situations. This means that often they should delay responding to calls until they can put the appropriate safety measures in place.

A very common objection from participants relates to emergencies. Workers often believe that their duty of care forces them to respond immediately to situations even though their safety will be greatly compromised if they do so. They also feel pressure to deal with issues that they are neither equipped nor qualified to deal with such as anti-social behaviour on the estates they manage.

Actually the law is very clear that voluntary sector support workers are not expected to place themselves in danger in this way. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 is clear – workers are expected to take reasonable care of themselves and are not expected to take unreasonable risks.

Also – support workers do not deal with emergencies outside of airline staff or a ship’s crew at sea. If it’s really an emergency then it requires emergency services. Call the Police, the Ambulance or the Fire Brigade.

It’s important to understand the difference between an emergency and a situation where someone would prefer not to have to wait.

Respond urgently if it’s safe to do so – if not then wait until it’s safe to proceed. If the situation really can’t wait then the correct response is to call 999 – not to rush into danger simply because the service-user demands it.

Duty of care never forces us into unreasonably hazardous situations.

Yesterday is 9th September 2009, a lot of couples decided to give up their freedom as a single and start a new live with their gf/bf to start a live as a married people. And the funny thing is, they think that choosing this date, they can be together for eternity due to the number 999 resembles 天长地久.

Does this really true that they can really be together for eternity?

Last year 08/08/08, 8th August 2008, also have lots of couple decided to throw away their freedom and get married this day. Some of those who not yet ready to get marry, but they wanted to have a rich life, so they get married in this day. But from what I see, the date does not makes any difference. They wealth level still the same, and they are still a blue collar, not yet promoted to white collar level yet.

When I was a kid, I used to read scary stories all the time or beg them of my friends as we all sat around at a sleepover. There was something about the feeling of cold running down my spine and the idea that the world was more strange and fascinating than it seemed. As time went on, I forgot about the thrill of a good scary story, replaced with more grown-up novels and horror movies when I wanted a scare.

But in the past little while, I’ve rediscovered my love for good horror fiction both online and in printed form and I’ve decided to share some of it here.

Online Horror Fiction

The Dionaea House
Easily my favourite piece of horror fiction online, the Dionaea house was written as a viral pitch for a screenplay by Eric Heisserer. It’s told through blogs, text messages and emails and is one of the creepiest stories around. Like Paranormal Activity, which I reviewed here, even if the Dionaea House doesn’t scare you, the storytelling skills of its talented author are sure to impress.

Ichor Falls
Now collected in a book you can purchase on the website, Ichor Falls is a multi-author anthology that collects the lore of a fictional town called Ichor Falls. The stories span the town’s entire history, from its founding to the tragic deaths of thousands from chemical-induced cancer during the “Ethylor Summer” and beyond, the tales are brilliantly crafted and sure to suck you in.

Okay, so it doesn’t sound scary. The name was derived from ‘copypasta’, a term for words or pictures that are copied and pasted across the internet. This website collects a ton of stories written by a variety of authors and posts them for your perusal: as with most user-generated content, the site’s hit or miss. But when it hits, it hits hard.

Ted’s Caving Page
In 2001, a man named Ted followed his passion for caving into a deep, dark hole he dubbed Floyd’s Tomb. Accompanied by a friend, he explored the darkness until things began to go wrong and the world he knew became different. This website is Ted’s attempt to tell the world what he saw.

And for those looking for something they can take with them, here are a pair of books  you can grab if you’re looking for a scare.

House of Leaves
Mark Danielewski’s House of Leaves tells a trio of stories at once, weaving together the narratives into an enthralling and often unsettling read. Though I will admit that I grew weary of the narrator, Johnny Truant, the book-within-a-book, The Navidson Record, makes it well worth the read.

999: Twenty-nine Original Tales of Horror and Suspense
A solid collection of stories about everything from ghosts to zombies. Like any anthology, it has its weaker pieces, but it’s definitely a great read and there are more than enough chilling tales to keep any horror fan reading.

Two emergency helicopters attend East Lancashire road traffic accident

A road traffic accident in Kelbrook Road near Barnoldswick became the first incident attended by two air ambulance emergency helicopters. The new North West Air Ambulance based in Manchester joined its sister aircraft from Blackpool in providing assistance following the collision earlier this week.

The two air ambulances landed close to the scene in a field and supported land ambulance and rapid response teams in providing assistance. The driver was airlifted to the Royal Blackburn Hospital and a passenger in the car to Airedale Hospital. Police later confirmed that Winifred Hoyle, 73, of Barnoldswick died at Airedale Hospital.

NHS East Lancashire provided much needed support to help introduce a second air ambulance and the helipad at the Royal Blackburn Hospital is recognised as one of the best in North West England allowing rapid transfer of patients to the emergency department.

Lynda Brislin, Chief Executive of the charity that operates the helicopters said: “This was a tragic accident that took place in a remote part of the region. The two air ambulances provided vital support and rapid transfer to the emergency hospitals.

“At this time our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mrs Hoyle.”
