My second year-end list of anime OP/ED themes which I thought were worth mentioning. I basically just compiled my seasonal list and re-ranked the songs altogether regardless of the season order (although some got bumped out of the list and some got added in). This covers the Winter 2008/2009 season all the way to Fall 2009.

Please note that this list is pretty much subjective as it’s ranked into “Top 10″ according to my preference. From this year on, it will be followed by a list of those that “almost made my Top 10,” and then followed by the usual randomly listed titles as “special mention.”

~ Format :: [Season] – “Song title” by band/artist (OP#/ED# – anime series title)

My Top 10 OP/ED themes for 2009:

1. [Summer] – “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari” by supercell (ED#1 – Bakemonogatari)
– watch: anime ED — music video

- I always keep watching the episode until this ED finishes playing. It’s a really nice song with a great melody, despite having quite bittersweet words. I simply love, love, love this song’s lyrics. Lovely piano, nice guitars and percussion, and Nagi’s voice is so easy on the ears… Everything just blends so perfectly well into an awesome tune. Makes me want to sing along with it every single time. I just can’t get enough of it. ^^

I think Nagi was a good choice to sing this supercell song. Her voice fit very nicely with this song. I think she gave ryo’s composition an even nicer sound with her vocals. She also collaborated with them for “Love & Roll” (which *almost* made my Top 10, see the list following this one) ^^

2. [Winter] - “Ano hi Time Machine” by LONG SHOT PARTY (OP#1 – Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou)
– watch: anime OP — music video

- Awesome song! Very catchy. Makes me tap my feet every time I listen to it. I especially love the high notes and the chorus as well as the trumpet/saxophone parts. Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou is a pretty good watch too. If you haven’t seen it yet, do give it a shot (this is the 2nd season though, so make sure to start with season 1 first).

3. [Winter] – “Sofa” by Suga Shikao (OP song – xxxHolic Shunmuki) – OVA
– watch: anime OP — full song

- A funky ballad with a very nice melody, made even more awesome by Suga-sama’s voice. So far, I think it’s my favorite xxxHolic opening song. I don’t really know what else to say, except I really love this song.

There’s another xxxHolic OVA due out in 2010, and I’m looking forward to seeing that one as well as listening to what kind of OP song it will have (it’s most likely another Suga Shikao song since they usually pick his songs for this series’ OP ^^)

4. [Summer] – “Perfect World” by Rocky Chack (ED#1 – Spice and Wolf II)
– watch: anime ED — full song

- Very catchy tune coupled with a cute ED sequence (which is reminiscent of the previous season’s ED sequence). Makes me tap my feet every time I hear it.

Rocky Chack also did the season 1 ED song for this series and that was a really cute song too.

5. [Fall] – “Hajimari no Hi” by Suga Shikao feat. Mummy-D (OP#1 – Letter Bee)
– watch: anime OP — music video

- Very good song. I love the catchy funky upbeat melody, especially the bass parts, and I really love Suga-sama’s voice~ <3 OK, I might be biased since I’ve loved Suga Shikao’s stuff ever since I heard his songs in Honey and Clover, but really, this is a very good song.

The full song includes Mummy-D’s rap part toward the end. I especially like rapping along with the “let’s escape” part xD (♪ let’s escape, uh! yume no toriko… ♫)

6. [Fall] – “Tsukiakari no Michishirube” by Stereopony (OP#1 – Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini)
– watch: anime OP — music video

- This is a nice song, although I didn’t like it as much when I first heard it in episode 2 of the series. I guess I was kinda expecting a more bada$$ and bit more rock-ish song, kinda like (“Howling” by abingdon boys school) and (“Kakusei Heroism ~The Hero Without a Name~” by Antic Cafe) OP1 and OP2, respectively, from Darker than Black’s first season. But then, after an episode, I realized that this song fit the second season pretty well as Suou is more of the lead character now rather than Hei. I’ve been warming up to this song every time I hear it, and I honestly think it’s one of the good tunes from the Fall 2009 season.

7. [Winter] – “After the rain” by cossami (ED#1 – Kemono no Souja Erin)
– watch: anime ED — full song

- A really cute ballad with a very nice melody and gorgeous piano and strings. It helps chase my bad mood away whenever I listen to it. ^^

8. [Summer] – “Hologram” by NICO Touches the Walls (OP#2 – Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
– watch: anime OP — music video

- I’ve never seen a single episode of FMA, but I think it has a pretty good line-up of OP/ED songs. Among which, I like this OP song the most. I really love its melody and guitar riffs. The vocalist guy has a very nice voice too.

9. [Winter] – “Your Hand” by Miranosand (ED song – Switch) – OVA
– watch: anime ED – full song

- This song is from the Switch OVA, which comprised of 2 episodes . I included this one because the second OVA aired on February 2009. I really like the guitar riffs in this tune and the vocalist’s falsetto parts. I don’t think a lot of guys can sing high notes and make it sound really good, but I think this guy was able to do it quite well. I love listening to it.

10.1. [Spring] - “Summer Rain” by Kobukuro (OP #1 – Cross Game)
– watch: anime OP – full song

- It’s a tie for #10! First is this song from Cross Game. I love the melody and its disco vibe. It somehow kinda does make me think of summer rain, like a cool and laidback break in the hot summer season.

Cross Game turned out to be a surprisingly good series, too (baseball, comedy, slice of life, with a touch of romance and drama). It ended up being one of my favorite series of 2009. I don’t read much manga, but I picked this one up because I wanted to know what happens next. Yep, it’s just that good.

10.2. [Spring] – “Kimi wo Mamotte, Kimi wo Aishite” by Sambomaster (ED #19 – Bleach)
– watch: anime ED – full song

- It’s a tie for #10! Second is this fun and catchy tune from Bleach. I included this because it was this series’ ED song as spring 2009 started. Even though I don’t watch this series at all, I do check out its OP/ED themes every season because some of them are really nice to listen to. Anyway, this is an upbeat and sweet song. He’s basically singing about how he intends to protect the one he loves, no matter what~

——————————————————————–

Most of the songs are from anime I’ve seen (or at least seen 1 episode of within the 2009 season or heard the OP/ED song somewhere, or recommended by someone), so I might’ve missed some other good songs from series I don’t usually watch.

~ So which anime OP/ED songs this 2009 season made your “favorites” list?

You may need a pencil and paper for this, trust me – it’ll help you visualise the punch line

You may need a pencil and paper for this, trust me – it’ll help you visualise the punch line!

Let’s start with the rooms involved in this story, we have three. An AV-store on the ground floor and both a server room and the Network Managers office on the first floor. The office and server room are next door to each other with the servers and switches on the partition wall.

The story starts with the switch in the AV-store. The object was to trace connections back to the server room, so I know my network topology. The switch has to 1Gbps uplink ports, both are populated. The logical conclusion would be that another switch somewhere else is piggy-backed off the back of this one. The question is which of these two uplinks go to the server room and which to another switch? The patch panel lists the connections as ‘A’ and ‘B’. Maybe the server room has a clue?

In the server room the path panel is labled CAB-Y ‘A’ and ‘B’. So both connections come back up here. Strange, why would we need a 2Gbps bonded-pair backbone to a small minor switch? Lets trace the cables and see what ports they plug into on the root switch.

Well that’s strange! Only patch ‘A’ goes into the switch. Patch ‘B’ plugs into another patch panel socket labled ‘SNO9′. So where is port ‘SNO9′. ‘SNO’ = ‘Systems and Networks Office’, port number 9? Lets see, yes SNO9 is in the office next to the partition wall a CAT5 cable trailing out.

Were does the CAT5 cable go? Answer – through a hole in the partition wall an into the back of one of the servers!

So one of my servers, in the server room, is physically plugged into a switch in another part of the building via a hole in the wall, a socket in my office, and a cross-patch in the server room.

I can only assume we run out of much needed 1Gbps switch connections at some point. Still strange solution to the problem!

Now the punch line (you’ve drawn the diagram right?). I believe the server in question is my imaging server!

So I plug a machine into the local root switch for imaging. The image goes from the server room, to my office, to the server room, to the switch in the AV-store, back to the server room, to the root switch and finally onto the machine being imaged!

The Futureheads are giving away a new tune for free, Struck Dumb. Sounds as catchy as you would expect, I wonder how often 679 kick themselves for letting them go. If yet another album of comparable genius follows, surely it’ll be time for the Kate Bush connection to be put to bed once and for all.

On a side note, how tast is this Switch remix from a few years ago?

I’ve used many little bluetooth GPS units before because I develop land surveying equipment. I’ve also used many survey grade recievers that cost K. I know what I am talking about.

This one is by far the best cheap hand-held unit I’ve used. Battery lasts for ages and the satellite acquisition is really fast compared to other chipsets. I left it sitting outside for a week once, still turned on, and due to the power save mode it still worked when I remembered about it a week later and reconnected. Ran for another 8 hours or so before it finally ran out of juice.

It will even get satellites in a basement under a 2 story house. Of course, the location isn’t very accurate, but the fact that it even gets a signal is very impressive.

Size-wise it is smaller than a deck of cards – about the size of a really small flip cell phone. 3 AA batteries together, and one lengthwise across them endwise is the approximate size.

Can’t go wrong with this unit. It is standard bluetooth serial port profile (SPP slave) and streams NMEA data the moment you connect. The strings it supports are GGA,GSA,GSV,RMC.

Works very well – Dale A. Barnard – Driftwood, TX USA
Holds a charge forever. Grabs signal fast. Holds the signal when stuffed into a backpack or when it falls on the floor of the car and slides under the dash. How’s it do that? The switch feels a little cheap, but it hasn’t broken. The LED lights are cryptic and require a manual within easy reach, which is why I docked it a star. Works great with my T-Mobile MDA. Very simple to use. Great!

Amazing Receiver – R. Herrer – Chicago, IL
If you do your research you’ll find out that this GPS receiver has by far the most channels (32), one of the most accurate chips (158dBm) and one of the most long lasting batteries (32hrs), but enough about technical details, if you’re looking for a BT GPS receiver that will will work with your windows mobile device, don’t look any further, this is the product for you.
I couldn’t get it to work with Google Maps but that was a google issue so instead I’m using it with Windows Live and it works great!

I find him hanging in his bedroom. It must have been difficult for him to hang himself from the ceil

I find him hanging in his bedroom. It must have been difficult for him to hang himself from the ceiling, because his body is so close to the ground that at first I thought he was just standing there. He looks like he’s still alive because the window is open and the rope is making his body sway in the breeze, just a little, like he’s breathing.

He’s not, though, and I have to get the hell out of the room because it’s too creepy seeing your twin hanging there, swaying in the breeze. This is probably what it feels like to look at yourself dead, and it’s freaking me out.

The first thing to do is search for a suicide note, because that would be typical Nathan. Sure enough, I find it on the kitchen counter. That was pretty nice of him; he left a note on the counter so Mom and Dad wouldn’t freak when they walked into his room and saw their son all dead and dangling from the ceiling. I probably would’ve seen it first, too, except I was too excited and I didn’t really think about it; I just wanted to get to his room to see if he’d actually done it.

The note itself is typical mushy Nathan garbage. It’s all, “Don’t blame yourselves,” and “I’m so sorry,” and all that half-assed sentimental cop-out bullshit. I can’t respect anyone’s decision to kill themselves, and especially not Nathan’s, because the guy had it so damn good. Captain of the football team, straight-A’s, president of student council, hot girlfriend, accepted all over the place at any school he wanted. Everybody loves him. Well, they loved him, anyway. He would’ve been homecoming king for sure. That’s what my best friend Jake told me, that everyone wanted my brother to be homecoming king. Natalie would’ve been queen, probably. Jake said there was even a campaign going on, already, but Nathan didn’t know and even if he did he wouldn’t have tried to win. Besides being perfect and smart and athletic and lucky, Nathan was humble, too.

The little shit.

Okay, well, the suicide note’s going to have to go. I rip it in half, and then into quarters, and then into eighths, and I keep ripping and ripping until its confetti. Funeral confetti. Then I turn the faucet on full blast and run the pieces down the garbage disposal, just for good measure.

Next is the hard part. Mom and Dad saw us at breakfast, so they knew what Nathan and I were wearing. This means that we have to trade clothes, which isn’t so bad for Nathan because he’s dead. But I have to wear a dead guy’s clothes, and that’s creepy. I shudder when I put his shirt on. It’s a polo, too. Makes me feel kind of strangled.

Now that that’s done, I’m basically ready. The only thing I get a little hung up on is the replacement note, because suicide notes aren’t really my thing. But I jot one down, just a couple sentences, to keep up appearances. Who knows? Maybe, deep down, I’m really a sentimental kind of guy.

I’m sorry. It was too much. Don’t blame yourselves.

Love,

Morgan

—

It’s the best funeral I’ve ever been to.

It’s a funny thing to say, sure, but everyone wonders, right? “Would anyone care if I died?” “Who would show up to my funeral?” “Would people cry?” And suddenly all these questions are being answered for me.

Actually, the answers are a little surprising. There are a lot of classmates that I remember giving me shit all the time, even back in grade school, when they stole my lunch. There’s even a few of the guys who always called me a fag in gym. And some of my teachers are here, the same ones who just last week chewed me for “not applying myself” and “slacking off.” And skipping. Sometimes I’d skip. But that was “Morgan.” I’m “Nathan” now.

Natalie’s here. I’d always hoped Natalie would come to my funeral, although there’s this little irritating though in the back of my brain that she’s probably only there to support “Nathan,” not because she cares that “Morgan” is gone or anything. Jake’s here, too. He’s crying. I feel kind of bad, but what can I do? “Morgan” isn’t coming back just because one person misses him a little.

I also feel guilty about my parents. How could I not? I do have a conscience. But suicide makes everyone unhappy. My school’s going to be pissed. It kind of ruins home coming, a little, which is only two weeks away. Maybe they’ll have forgotten me by then. Or maybe they’ll make a speech about me. That’d be a riot.

It’s hard not to laugh when the priest reads my eulogy.

—

During the next two weeks, people give me a lot of space. Nathan’s friends don’t really know how to deal with “my” death, and even Natalie’s a little weird. But it’s fine. They’ll only be like that until I’m over my brother’s death, and I plan to be over it as soon as it’s socially appropriate to be over it. Keeping up appearance and all that. Even my teachers are cutting me some slack with the grades, but with Harvard or Princeton or Stanford or whichever Ivy League school I want in the future, it’s easier to do homework. I don’t do half bad, either.

The only real problem is football. I’ve never been great at football – probably why I was always a second-string wide receiver. But not Nathan, and since I’m Nathan, as far as they know, I have to pick it up a little. I’ve thrown another pass straight over Ken Mosley’s head when Coach blunders over. I know it’s Coach even from behind, because he always has this cloud of spearmint around him, even if he’s not chewing gum. Mosley doesn’t complain about the pass, but Coach is concerned.

“Listen, Nate.” Coach always called Nathan “Nate.” “Listen,” he starts again, but he can’t really figure out what he’s going to say, or how he’s going to say it. He stumbles a little over a few of the words, and then gives up. “Keep at it,” he says vaguely, and then he heads over to scream at Luke Garman for awhile. Coach is a real character.

I pitch another one to Mosley. It touches down a good fifteen yard in front of him.

The drive home is pretty nice because it means I can finally listen to what I want. Nathan liked country, and only country, and that’s been the hardest part of being him. I can’t stand country. When I’m in front of other people I’ll play a little for show. But on my own, I listen to whatever I want. Even rap. Nathan hated rap.

Mom’s car is in the driveway when I pull up to the curb. I find her in the kitchen, looking for her purse. “Hey, sweetie,” she says, reaching over to ruffle my hair. “How was school?”

“Okay. I think they’re going to retire Morgan’s number.”

Mom puts her hand up to her mouth and presses the back of her fingers against it. She does this whenever she’s being emotional. “Oh. Oh, well, that’s… that’s…”

“That’s nice of them,” I offer, and she takes my lifeline gratefully.

“Yes. It’s really nice of them.”

I can see her beginning to tear up, so I say the first thing that pops into my head. “Are you and Dad coming to the game on Friday?”

“Of course,” she assures me, resuming the hunt for her purse. “Wouldn’t miss it. Oh, and you’ve got a dentist appointment on Thursday.”

My stomach suddenly gets all cold and tight. Panic. The dentist will know. The records won’t match up and they’ll know I’m not Nathan. Shit.

“Alright,” I say. It’s not that big of a deal. I mean, I can just say I went or something. And I’m almost out of high school, anyway. I’ll just get a new dentist and tell them my old one lost my records. That sounds pretty believable. Probably it happens all the time. For now, I’ll just blow it off and hope my parents don’t notice.

As you’ve probably noticed I tend to take a week off for every two or three I’m online. This allows me a bit of ‘sanity’ time to reflect on this experiment, what I’m looking for, conversations I have had and where I want to go with it.

For now I’m committed to moving forward. Although this month in particular I do not expect much progress as I have family visiting from out of town and the necessary holiday obligations will take priority in my life.

I am feeling mildly optimistic about my progress to date. I have learned that I am definitely not a sub, but that I still enjoy dabbling or playing in the sub realm with the right partner.

I have also learned that I really do need to be more focused and demanding in my search. My inclination is still to meet people who generally interest me from a sexual perspective even if they do not meet my ideal for a Dom/me. As one prospective partner pointed out to me (in a very rationale and honest way) we were simply trying to make two fantasies that were not fitting fit where it was impossible, both of us would be left with an experience that was less than hoped for. I have been down that road too many times, and the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Prospective partners who are not experienced should likely curse my encounter in London because that has really set a new bar for me. I need to ask prospective Dom/mes more questions about style, technique, motivation and inspiration. I need to put in more time to get to know a Dom/me and what they are looking for from me beyond the mechanics of a sex scene.

The reason for mild optimism is that there do seem to be people who are as serious in these questions while still falling outside of the 24/7 or lifestyle category and can continue to view this as play and fun rather than as fetish and obsession.

On another note, following up on my reply to Doll I do have to think seriously about if I want to pursue this as a year long quest completely separate from any Switch or Domme play myself.

Would exploring a Switch or Domme position dilute my search for a sub experience? If I did pursue them together what pitfalls do I need to watch out for? Where should I even begin to learn about how to design an experience for a sub if I have never successfully been a sub? What do I and do I not want to do as a Domme? What do I expect from a sub as a basic starting point?

I am on my 3rd RMA with this device. I really love the functionality of this firewall, thus all of the RMA’s. The main issue I was experiencing, was the wireless conneciton. The speed of the connection would fluctuate between 54Mbps and 1Mbps. And I would randomally get disconnected for some time until it would reconnect. I also am running the higest security settings one can run. Data encryption is WPA2-PSK. I have done some extensive research as to what could be causing this. Tech support is very poor. When you know more about their product then they do, do yourself a favor, and either demand for an RMA, or hang up and fix it yourself. Well, I got fed up and I did exactly that! I found some rumors that heat is causing the wireless issues. I cracked open the firewall and found that the broadcom IC(Wireless) was very hot at idle. When I was streaming video it got hotter. Well, that makes sense. Sad thing is that there are no heatsinks on it. I went to the store and purchased a VGA heatsink and slapped it on there. It runs much cooler, and my speed is stable. Best thing is that I don’t have the disconnects as often. I generally get 1 disconnect/week. When I do experience them, I go into my site monitoring software, and I find that my firewall is still active and has a strong signal. I think it has to do with my wireless card in my laptop. It’s a Dell, with the built-in WiFi. I’m sure I can drop down to WPA-PSK to help out, but I like the heightened security.

Rock solid for the last 4+ years – D. Earley –
I got one of the early versions of this Router/access point/switch/firewall/print server. That is a lot of function for the money. It has NEVER given me problems. Mine has been on the entire 4+ years. I can remember rebooting it once in that time. Also, it has great range.

However, this is an office product not a home product, so you should know a little about firewalls, routing, DHCP, IP, etc., or you should be ready to spend a few hours educating yourself. So, this is a very versatile device.

I used support when I first set it up and they did a good job for me.

There is a very good reason why this is one of the oldest product still in production by Netgear.

A Metal Box Does Not A Good Router Make – Moriturus –
I have had a lot of problems with this router. Its wireless connection is intermittent and sometimes totally freezes up, requiring the router and the DSL modem to be rebooted. Also, the wireless connection does not work with Dell laptops for some reason. As a result, I only use it now as a LAN router until I can afford something else. I have upgraded to the latest firmware and that hasn’t helped. “Customer service” is Mumbai Hell; the waits are interminable and customer reps are clueless. If you want to use this as a print server, be sure to check for compatability on the website: the number of printers that are not compatible (or just have not been tested, why should they actually go through the trouble of verifying compatibility before advertising it?) is huge. It also has problems with online and LAN games. All my friends are playing Civ IV online with no problems, but my ability to connect has been very spotty (I’ve never been able to complete an online game). Also, with some LAN games (e.g., Dawn of War, Warcraft III) it will allow certain computers to connect to the game server and not others, without any discernable reason why. Netgear’s website is spotty as well: the contact list for ISPs regarding ISP connectivity issues was last updated in 2005. If I’d known I would face these kinds of problems I never would have bought it.

I would not recommend this product even if you got it for free; the time and headaches it will cost you are probably much more than what you’ll pay for a dependable wireless router/print server. Even as a simple four-port LAN firewall/router it has gaming issues. Look elsewhere, unless you are a masochist.
great router if you need to connect via a serial modem – John M. –
I use this router to serve up a wireless connection via a serial modem. Unless you need to connect to the Internet through a serial modem or need a modem as a backup connection you can save money with a cheaper router. The dial-on-demand feature works well and I’ve only had to reboot this router a couple of times. I get a strong signal and the router itself is in what feels like a sturdy metal case.

If you are among the 5 of us out there still using dial-up and are tired of being tied to a phone cord I recommend this router. Be sure to visit the manufacturers web site to see what serial modems are supported. Mine wasn’t on the list and it still worked but I may have gotten lucky.

This brings me right back to summer, mojitos, LA beaches, Benjamin Franklin…I mean, what? I will do a Major Lazer post soon because they (it’s Diplo and Switch, people) are the shit but for now, watch and feel slightly uncomfortable with the video directed by Eric Wareheim.
The HDMI 1.3 cable is the newest version of the multiple multimedia interface cable that can be used

The HDMI 1.3 cable is the newest version of the multiple multimedia interface cable that can be used to connect a number of electronic devices into the same interface. Compared to past models of the cable, which have changed relatively little compared to their predecessors, the 1.3 version has an array of new features that makes it the most adaptable of the bunch. But just what are the real benefits of using the HDMI 1.3 cable compared to the others? You would be surprised, I’m sure, to learn of all the ways that this new version will expand your multimedia interface and make it easier for you to combine your electronics.

To understand how this HDMI cable is going to help you, let’s first talk about Digital Visual Interface (DVI). This is an uncompressed digital connection scheme that was actually originally developed for a network of personal computers. It was to be a low-cost, high-bandwidth digital connection between PCs and digital monitors, so that you could view your work on the best of television sets. Now it is the most widely used digital display interface in the computer industry. What does all this mean for your home theater system? Well, it means that you can include the DVI with it, especially by using DVI connections on projectors, monitors, and advanced DVD players, such as the new HD-DVD players. – Xbox 360 HDMI Cable –
The Benefits Of Using HDMI 1.3 Cable
The Benefits Of Using HDMI 1.3 Cable

its been a challenge for me to capture lightnings but recently I have come up with some ways and I would like to share my ideas on these matters with fellow photographers.

Position and condtions

Good conditions for lightning would be at night so that pattern of lightning is clear. Your scenery is also important, you want to be able to cover huge landscapes in your photo for getting the highest number of lightnings and the best quality ones. so try to elevate your self as much as possible, look for a building around you, and go to the highest floor and try to get a good scenery without obstacles and other light sources in the photo.

Put your aperture size to minimum(max f-stop) and your shutter speed to minimum(ie.Longest shutter time), minimum shutter speed varies from camera to camera , mine is 30 seconds and it also has the bulb feature , but I am too lazy to use the bulb feature so I set my shutter speed to 30 seconds, set your ISO to minimum to get good quality photos and since lightning would provide more than enough light. If there are any light sources in the frame, try to get rid of them, either by positioning your camera or turning those lights off if you can, since shutter will be open for 30 seconds, if there are any light sources in the scene that would ruin your photo by big white spot. If there is ambient light sources which light up your shots, they can be taken care of by editing, so dont worry about them.

So after getting a good location and after adjusting your camera, you just press the shutter button and hope for few lightnings in your landscape which is very probable if your landscape is big enough. so after maybe 10 shots of 30 seconds you will probably get 2 or 3 good lightnings

If you have an old camera with slow processors a problem that you might face is that your camera will take long time to prepare the image and make your camera available for next shot. Forexample when I take 30 seconds shots ,it will take about 30 seconds to make the camera available for next shot, in this 30 seconds of photoprocessing I tend to loose a lot of nice shots, which is quite painful. To overcome that, if you know that you havent caught a lightning in your current shot, turn off the camera and turn it on again, that will save you a lot of time, but I am not sure if this is dangerous for your memory card or not, so becareful.

Another solution could be using the bulb mode, some cameras you have the old the shutter button, and as long as you keep your finger on the button it will keep the shutter open, which lets you have unlimited time shots, but becareful with your exposure. I also dont suggest this since it might cause vibrations and ruin your photo.

if you can use a tape to keep your shutter button down, that would be good especially if you have dark sceneries and you are not worried about keeping the shutter open for very long times.

If you want better results and you have slow camera like mine, there is one thing you can do, and that is making your own remote control for the shutter and controlling that remote by an astable timer, on times would be 30 seconds, and off times of your circuit would be the time it takes for your camera to process the picture, then setting your camera to bulb , so after doing that, all you have to do is start the timer and leave the camera at the right position and comeback after sometime and see if you have caught any good lightnings, and I will guarantee you will get great shots like that.To learn how to make the remote and astable timer to control it, please go to the following link.

using two cameras is also another solution.

Hope you will get nice lightning shots, tell me how it goes and share with me your tips.

Vault-boy really likes this switch. Why wouldn’t he? It’s perfect for the clock. It’s attractive, sturdy, has three positions and three pairs of contacts. When in the middle, as shown, the two pairs of contacts in the center are closed. Click the lever to the left and the center ones open and the pair closest to the knob close. Click to the right and the two in the rear close, all others open. When in the center position, the clock will run. The center contacts go between the seconds and minute stages, and between the minutes and hours stages. To set the minutes stage, click to the left. Only one contact in the front will be used. It will connect the 1Hz pulse to pin 14 on the minutes stage. Same idea for the hours setting to the right. The connections between the stages need to be opened to make sure that the pin is low, or the 1Hz pulse won’t advance the counter. This will fit above the battery, just so. I may add a seconds reset. Why? I like to set my clocks as close to official time as possible. I set my pocket watches to the second. The new parts won’t arrive until Tuesday, and I won’t be able to get then till Friday. I need to finish the lathe mod anyway.
