*Initially I had named my blog as “A Little Bit Longer” because of the song. It didn’t please me that much when I got over the whole JoBros thing, though. Not that I don’t listen to them anymore; I’m just not in that phase anymore.

ok so this is just going to be one giant jonas brothers post. i LOVE the jonas brothers and i went to their concert here in houston back in august with one of my best friends. it was amazing!! there was just so much energy and everyone was so excited, including me. from the lighting effects, to the stunts, to the actual live performance was just incredible.

out of all of their albums, i do not have a favorite one, but i do have favorite songs. from their album “jonas brothers”, my favorites are that’s just the way we roll, australia, still in love with you, when you look me in the eyes, s.o.s., and hello beautiful. in a previous post, i have already told you the ones that i like from “a little bit longer”. my favorite songs from “lines, vines, and trying times” are fly with me, poison ivy, hey baby, before the storm (feat. miley cyrus), much better, black keys, and turn right.

the new justin bieber album came out this week and it’s called my world. i really liked it because most of the songs are upbeat and fun to dance to. all the songs are really good so i recommend all of them, but these are my favorites: one time, love me, one less lonely girl, and first dance.

a cd i’ve been enjoying is a little bit longer by the jonas brothers. it is their third album and it came out last year. i really like the lyrics because they’re catchy, fun, and easy to relate to. their are some upbeat songs that are just fun to listen to and then there are really good slower songs. the songs i recommend are lovebug, burnin’ up, a little bit longer (my favorite song from the cd), tonight, can’t have you, and shelf.

Heel vaak zit een bepaald liedje in mijn hoofd en dit keer is het a Little bit longer van de Jonas Brothers. Prachtig liedje geschreven door Nick Jonas. Hij kreeg op jonge leeftijd te horen dat hij diabetes heeft en toen kwam dit nummer.

Voor mij heeft het een andere betekenis, want iedereen interpreteert het eenmaal anders. Het is een gevoelig en emotioneel lied. Just beautiful.

Você já viu esta cena: milhões de garotinhas histéricas que mal conhecem um absorvente se empurram e gritam até perderem a voz, levando cartazes e mais cartazes com juras de amor eterno aos roqueirinhos bonitinhos e carismáticos que estão para entrar no palco. O cenário é um estádio, lotado de puberdade e estrogênio. Estas fãs gritam sem parar e, quando a voz parece que vai começar a falhar, seus ídolos entram e a energia se renova, como se tivessem tomado um elixir.

É, amigos, se você achou que eu estava falando da banda hype do momento, os Beatles, rodou. Pois a banda da qual vos falo tem um único (grande) problema: seus membros não tem a MENOR intenção de comer nenhuma fã, pois são da Disney. E usam, porventura, um anelzinho de castidade.

Agora que eu já fiz a apresentação bonita, vou direto ao ponto: os Beatles possuem um herdeiro. E são justamente os virginais irmãos Jonas. Como assim, você me pergunta, e o Strokes, o Arctic Monkeys!? E o Bono!? Todos estes pecam exatamente no ponto aonde eu começo este post: no de levar multidões de pré-adolescentes (ou tweens, como quem é paunocú gosta de dizer) ao delírio com suas musiquinhas de amor e garotas impossíveis.

Até o Patrick Swayze sabia que os quatro garotos de Liverpool eram pródigos em levar o jovem público feminino à loucura. E os Jonas também. Assim, o primeiro passo de se tornar o novo Beatles já é dado. Mas esse passo muitos já deram: Backstreet Boys, Hanson, Fresno e Ana Carolina (esta em um nicho mais específico). E todos estes esqueceram que o Beatles só é o que é graças ao segundo passo.

Depois de experimentar todas as mulheres, os quatro fabulosos desencanaram de fazer shows e resolveram experimentar uma mulher em especial: a Lucy, aquela do céu de diamantes. Em todas as outras bandas que não conseguiram chegar aonde os Beatles chegaram, apenas o rapaz “minoria étnica” ia pro caminho negro das drogas, mas seus amigos nunca o seguiam. Não é mesmo, AJ?

Enfim, após o uso de lisérgicos, John, George, Paul e Ringo começaram a experimentar novos horizontes musicais e se tornaram os maiores fodões do mundo da música, criando estilos e sons que muitos imitaram, mas que ninguém jamais conseguiu obter o mesmo êxito.

No caso dos irmãos Jonas, o primor musical é um pouco mais difícil de se alcançar que a dos Beatles: pra começar, eles precisam se desvencilhar da Disney, pegar a Sasha Grey e fazer um gangbang. Desta forma, os três menininhos não serão mais virgens e terão experimentado os prazeres de uma boa foda. Suas mãos não terão mais tantos calos e a guitarra vai ficar mais macia.

Após esse passo, eles precisam conhecer aquela outra mulher que os Beatles conheceram antes de gravar Sgt. Pepper’s, abrir as asas da criatividade e expandir suas habilidades musicais para novos patamares. Assim, poderão criar discos cada vez melhores, uma vez que o penúltimo, “A Little Bit Longer”, é incrível. E se tornarem, em um futuro próximo, os novos Beatles. Confira a música “Lovebug” e tire suas próprias conclusões.

The type 2 diabetes crowd has respected Cocoon-actor and beautiful mustache-grower Wilford Brimley. They have legendary-guy-with-deep-voice B.B. King.

And we have Disney-manufactured popster Nick Jonas, one-third of the brotherly trio the Jonas Brothers. He’s 16, he has type 1 diabetes, he writes songs about it (for real, see below), and I think he’s a wee bit dramatic.

“Got the news today,” sings Nick in the Jonas Brothers’ betes-anthem A Little Bit Longer, “but they said I had to stay a little bit longer and I’d be fine.” Here the lyricist lament having to stay in the hospital (probably for a day or two) learning to administer insulin. He continues, “But you don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone,” surely refers to a functioning pancreas, which he has just found out he does not possess. The verse ends: “And you don’t know what it’s like to feel so low. And every time you smile or laugh, you glow. You don’t even know, know, no.” He’s right, most non-diabetics do not in fact know what it’s like to feel so hypoglycemic, but what the hell betes side effect causes him to glow? I guess I really just don’t even know, know, no.

All this was easy to overlook until he became THE FACE of diabetes advocacy last week when he met President Obama (and a bunch of other Washington folk) and spoke at the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee hearing on federal funding for diabetes research.

I appreciate what you’re doing, Nick, really. I’m sure there is a large contingent of teenage girls & boys with diabetes who feel you speak for them. But for the sake of the rest of the diabetic young adults everywhere, let’s work on finding you a more…relatable counterpart.

Nick Jonas Speaks Out to the Committee About Finding the Cure of Type 1 Diabetes

Nick did a great job! I pray that one day they do find a cure for diabetes.  Unfortunately my aunt past away a couple years ago because of diabetes.

JONAS BROTHERS’ 2008 CD A LITTLE BIT LONGER

CRITICAL REVIEW: I bought the CD on iTunes out of curiosity last year and wrote a review on my other blog. I gave it a B-, but I’ve been listening to it again recently and it’s actually sounding a lot better. The instrumentals, which are very very very Disney, are nice and compliment the lyrics, which are the best part about this album. When I reviewed this on August 23rd last year, I said that the album was “an OK record that I don’t recommend for everyone.” But I have changed my mind. The lyrics to songs such as “Burnin’ Up,” “One Man Show,” “Lovebug,” “Sorry” and “Got Me Going Crazy” prove to me that these guys can actually write decent love songs. Granted, they lack a bit of originality (save for “Lovebug”). Favorite songs: “Lovebug,” “Burnin’ Up”

“GOOD STUFF”: These guys have one thing going for them: their clean approach to love. It’s innocent and fun. In my review last year I wrote that “it’s tough to accept that these guys really know what ‘true love’ is.” But I realized something the other day while listening to this record. God created love. And since these guys profess to be Christians (which is awesome!), then I’m more likely to believe what they’re saying. All of their stuff is good clean fun. The song “Lovebug” praises a girl for being “beautiful but you don’t even try” when “modesty is just so hard to find.” In a world where girls show more skin than mainstream rappers a lack of talent (which is quite large), the fact that these guys praise a girl for being modest is encouraging. Another encouraging point is made in the song “Video Girl.” Despite a potentially-harmful word (see “BAD STUFF” below), the song complains about the video vixens who “are all insane, they live for fame, honey.” The Jo Bros seem to be not drawn into the world of Hollywood because the girls who are in their videos are just there to be famous. It’s encouraging. Another high point comes on “Sorry.” Nick and Joe apologize to their girl for just plain messing up. They apologize instead of blaming it on someone else or giving excuses. They exclaim, “I’m sorry for breaking all the promises I wasn’t around to keep. It’s on me…” It’s a good example of what guys who are truly remorseful do, I would think.

“BAD STUFF”: On the song “Video Girl,” the singer says, “It’s gonna suck when the cameras start rolling…“. Some parents might be offended by the word, especially for younger children. But that’s about it.

CONCLUSION: After almost a year of not giving this album the respect it deserves, I will finally grant this album my SOA (Seal of Approval) for everyone. Although the trio has a reputation for making pre-teen and teenage girls faint by their mere appearance (I just made that up, but…), their third album is one worth looking into for anyone. GRADE: B+

2009 FILM THE PROPOSAL STARRING RYAN REYNOLDS AND SANDRA BULLOCK

CRITICAL REVIEW: I loved Ryan Reynolds’ 2008 movie Definitely, Maybe so it just made sense for me to go see his next romantic comedy. In stepped The Proposal, written by Pete Chiarelli and directed by Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses). Reynolds plays Andrew Paxton, the assistant to Bullock’s Margaret Tate, the editor-in-chief for a publishing company. Tate is a very demanding and unsympathetic boss who prevents Andrew from having anything pretty much resembling free time. But when Tate is threatened with deportation due to a problem with her visa (she’s from Canada), she forces Andrew into a quick engagement to prevent her from that fate. Andrew is hesitant but goes through with it when Margaret provides him with the opportunity of his life that would fulfill his dreams. The two will test their sudden engagement in a weekend at Andrew’s parents’ home in Alaska.

I liked this movie. Despite all of the “BAD STUFF,” it was a funny enjoyable romantic comedy. Throughout the movie, the actors did a good job of portraying the cracks in their plan. Reynolds was good as expected and Bullock was decent. I have never seen a good female acting performance except for Amy Adams in Enchanted. It’s a curse. Wait a second. Betty White as Andrew’s grandmother was hilarious. I was surprised because I didn’t expect anything. Give her a step ahead of all other actresses this year. All around, The Proposal a fun movie that I enjoyed to watch. I recommend it with a caution.

“GOOD STUFF”: In a movie with the central plot a form of fraud, it might be hard to see the “GOOD STUFF.” But there were some good things to point out. Andrew’s mother (Mary Steenburgen) and grandmother (Betty White) are very supportive of Andrew despite his odd choice for a mate. Andrew is a good worker and follows his boss’ instructions. 

“BAD STUFF”: I’m honestly a bit afraid that some people might try this now that it’s been made popular. Also, there are over twenty cuss words, including 3 “s—” and 20 misuses of God’s name. One scene shows almost all of the lead characters’ full bodies nude. Only hands obstruct the crucial parts. If the filmmakers were trying to show everything except the privatest of parts, they accomplished that. Other sexual innuendos and inappropriate actions take place, mostly by Andrew, who is making the most of his opportunity to humiliate and belittle his boss. Another scene shows Ramone (Oscar Nunez of The Office) performing a striptease for Margaret. Again, care is taken to show everything but the most private of parts. I found myself extremely disturbed by these scenes and had to hide my eyes. 

CONCLUSION: The Proposal was a film that was funny and, unfortunately, a bit predictable.  But, in the end, the sexual content and nudity on display was a bit disappointing. Although those scenes were supposed to be funny, I found myself not willing to even buy the DVD when it comes out because of those scenes. GRADE: B-

Yes, you can hate me, and the jonas brothers, but i love the drama in this video and the song. i listened to it about 15 times in one day

According to the newest Rolling Stone, (issue 1075, April 2nd with Blake Lively & Leighton Meester on the cover) in the Spring Music Preview section, the Jonas Brothers are going to be releasing their 4th CD, titled Lines, Vines and Trying Times on June 15th. That’s less than a year since their last one, A Little Bit Longer came out in August! The bros tell fans to expect more “ultracatchy power pop” and Rolling Stone describes one of the songs (“Poison Ivy”) as being “a Weezer-ish tune about a toxic girl you can’t resist”. I actually liked their last CD, so I can’t wait to hear this one!

Son todo un fenómeno de la música para adolescentes, Kevin, Joe y Nick Jonas, es decir, el grupo de pop estadounidense Jonas Brothers, actuarán el próximo 13 de junio en el Palacio de Deportes de Madrid dentro la gira europea de presentación de su último álbum “A little bit longer”, según ha informado la promotora Live Nation.

Los fans españoles de los Jonas Brothers pueden considerarse afortunados. Tan sólo tres conciertos en Europa ofrecerá el grupo juvenil de moda dentro de su gira y Madrid ha sido una de las capitales elegidas.

Una oportunidad inmejorable para escuchar en vivo los tres discos que han publicado hasta el momento (It´s About Time, Jonas Brothers y A Little Bit Longer). Las entradas se podrán adquirir a partir del 12 de marzo en Ticketmaster, Servicaixa y El Corte Inglés.

If you had to choose a theme song for LaMB, which song would you choose, which band would you have perform it and why?

I’d would probably choose a cross between “Sorry” and “A Little Bit Longer” and have it performed by its original performers and composers, the Jonas Brothers. I chose these songs because they exhibit different sad emotions. I thought that using sad emotions for this kind of story would favour LaMBs. It would reflect how they feel because they can’t express themselves or how others make them perform things.

Panic At The Disco – Pretty. Odd. <– Very different from their debut, but still good. And “Nine In The Afternoon” was easily one of the best music videos of the year!

The B-52’s – Funplex <– My mom actually bought this one, but I like it, so I just counted it as being in my collection. It sounds like the B-52’s, all futurized.

Mariah Carey – E=MC2 <– Not her best, but still pretty good. My favorite song off it is “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time”.

Ashlee Simpson – Bittersweet World <– Awesome! Her best so far in my opinion.

 Weezer – Weezer (Red Album) <– Like always, totally awesome. I love how they experimented with different sounds and even had members other than Rivers sing!

The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing <– Quite unique-ly awesome.

Katy Perry – One Of The Boys <– Love it! I don’t care what people say about her, she’s awesome.

Camp Rock Soundtrack <– Definitely the best DCOM soundtrack since HSM2’s.

Miley Cyrus – Breakout <– ”It’s Miley!” All the songs are good except “Breakout” and the  nightmarish (sorry, Miley) remake of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. While the best song is definitely “Goodbye”.

Jonas Brothers – A Little Bit Longer <– So I finally gave in and became a Jonas Brothers fan. Best song? “Can’t Have You”. (though they really should have given less vocals to Nick, and more to Joe.)

The Veronicas - Hook Me Up <– Yay, finally! This CD came out last year in Australia! Quite awesome.

Demi Lovato - Don’t Forget <– Awesome debut, I love her! Definitely the rockingest and most vocally talented of the Disney stars.

The Pussycat Dolls – Doll Domination <– Pretty good, I bought the deluxe edition with the bonus disc. Favorite track? “Love The Way You Love Me”. Should definitely be a single! Springtime, maybe?

P!nk - Funhouse <– First P!nk CD I’ve ever bought! (I have a burnt copy of M!ssundaztood) Really good, and the video for “So What” was definitely one of the best of the year!

David Cook – David Cook <– A little disappointing, he could do so much better! Best tracks are definitely “A Kiss On The Neck” (hidden track!) and “Bar-ba-sol”.

Kevin Rudolf – In The City <– Awesome debut! I love “She Can Get It”!

Britney Spears – Circus <– Yay, Britney’s back! I (of course!) bought the deluxe edition with the bonus tracks, and it’s (of course) awesome! But what’s with “Radar”? That was already on Blackout!

Fall Out Boy – Folie A Deux <– They just keep getting more awesome! I love how they experimented with new sounds on this album. I especially love “w.a.m.s.”.

The All-American Rejects – When The World Comes Down <– Good! My favorite track is definitely “I Wanna”.

Woah. It’s my first time to award something. Well, these set of awards are those things or people who made a mark in me. Take note that the premiere days are based in Koronadal City, where I live.

What’s not to love about a family with a magical secret? Justin, Alex and Max Russo live a normal life while going through wizard training inside their restaurant’s freezer. The trio (Gabriella was studying in Cambridge) are given a chance to star in a movie to be filmed in India. The trouble starts when they were told that only one of them gets to be in the movie.

Ok, talvez não um blog novo. Mas com 2009 batendo à porta, achei que estava na hora de mudar pelo menos o nome… Nada contra “A Little Bit Longer”. Mesmo. É só que tendo passado um pouco (e que fique bem claro que eu disse um pouco) da minha fase Jonas Brothers, e entrando numa onda Taylor Swift, resolvi me inspirar nela e mudar para “My Place In This World”. Há alguns dias coloquei aqui a letra de “A Place In This World”, que eu gosto muito. No fim das contas, uni o útil ao agradável, e mudei um pouquinho as coisas por aqui… Mas bem pouquinho! Sei que eu tinha dito sobre fazer uma mudança de layout, mas pensei bem e resolvi deixar como está. É mais minha cara… E quem me conhece sabe o quanto eu realmente prefiro evitar mudanças!

Falando um pouquinho sobre como anda a minha vida, acho que o tédio resolveu ir morder outra pessoa. Dormi mal pra caramba essa noite, tudo por causa de um episódio macabro de Smallville que eu nem assisti direito, porque tirei assim que o negócio começou a ficar meio completamente filme de terror. Calhou que no meio da noite eu comecei a ter cólica, daí lembrei do que tinha assistido, fiquei morrendo de medo e pronto!, não preguei o olho até depois das 6:30h da manhã. Como eu tinha acordado minha mãe, ela também estava super cansada, e acabamos dormindo até bem tarde. Resultado: matei o culto hoje.

Resolvemos ir passear num shopping e passamos a tarde toda lá. Falando nisso, acho interessante contar que “o dia depois do Natal” aqui na Austrália é o “Boxing Day”, um dia de liquidação. As lojas abrem mais cedo, fecham mais tarde e colocam quase tudo a preços bem baixos, então é uma loucura. Isso foi na sexta, mas acabaram estendendo pra sábado também. No fim das contas, hoje já era domingo e o shopping estava lotado de gente comprando coisa com desconto… Entrei na onda, ha ha ha. Pro ano que vem, já aprendi: vale a pena esperar deixar passar o Natal pra comprar… Era o que eu deveria ter feito!

No final da tarde, fomos jogar boliche e eu não me dei muito bem, pra variar. De qualquer forma, deu pra dar risada!

Voltando pra casa, passamos pela praia de St. Kilda, o meu lugar preferido na cidade inteira, e eu tirei um montão de fotos! Eu totalmente amo sair tirando fotos, especialmente de um lugar como aquele…! Tenho que dizer que já aprendi a amar essa cidade, mesmo com a saudade que eu sinto do Brasil. Estou aprendendo que amor não de divide, se multiplica. Que eu posso amar os dois lugares ao mesmo tempo. Que eu posso ter asas e também raízes. A única coisa que continua a mesma, e que vai ser igual pra sempre, é o amor especial que eu tenho pelos meus amigos que moram no Brasil, e a saudade que eu sinto, o tempo inteiro…
