Remember when you first stuck A Milli on your ipod and listened to it so hard that your dreams had a Bangladesh produced undertone? Yeah? We all did and there isn’t a DJ set I’ve played where a blend of that track doesnt fill the floor with chanting bro-step bastards hugging each other swigging WKD, gurls dutty wyning all over each other in black see through mesh and even the one middle aged weird Turkish guy in the Umbro cap that kinda manages the bar but kinda just stares at the Jailbait.

Well this is the 2k11 update. Wayne has gone hookless and basic with a  murmuring looping beat - no bullshit electro-crunk guitar input. No gimmicks or chronic lunged wailing, just sharp as knives verses and the high level awareness and intelligence we all wanted to originally wifey him for.  I’m trying to pluck out my preferred ryhmes but there’s too much to pick out.  ”Life is the bitch, and death is her sister, sleep is the cousin, what a fuckin’ family picture” or maybe  ”Bitch, stop playing, I do it like a king do, if these niggas animals, then I’ma have a mink soo”

Lil Wayne – Six Foot Seven Foot featuring Cory Gunz

The single was produced by producer Banglasdesh, the same man who produced the mega-hit ‘A Milli’. When the single was first announced Lil Wayne’s associate Mack Maine made a big claim tweeting,

“Just Think A 2010 Version Of A Milli…But On [Steroids]“

referring to the song. Considering the weight that ‘A Milli’ holds, I would say that he was holding the song to very high standards.

After the song premiered all I could think about was this quote. I do think the song has similarities, but I don’t think the song is better. Bangladesh did a good job on the beat, showing a small amount of variety compared to his previous work. Wayne’s style on the track is almost identical, but I didn’t feel the same amazement during my first listen as I did with ‘A Milli’.

The track, the first single from the highly-anticipated Tha Carter IVis, is produced by Bangladesh who helmed the frenetic ‘A Milli’ and features Young Money’s Cory Gunz.

According to Wayne, he’s also preparing to shoot a video for the clip with iconic hip-hop music director Hype Williams.

You would think that Lil Wayne being in jail would give him a break from drama in the outside world, but that’s not the case

Boombox is reporting that Weezy is about to be served a summons to appear in federal court for failure to pay Atlanta producer Mali Boy.

Mali claims he has not received payment for the song “Mrs Officer” that appeared on the multi platinum selling ‘Tha Carter III‘ album.

This lawsuit comes on the heels of Bangladesh’s claim that he hasn’t been paid for “A Milli”. And even more recently “Lollipop” producer Jim Jonsin told AllHipHop he hasn’t seen a dime for his work either.

“We’re still trying to get paid. Clearly, I don’t understand what the issue is. They sold the record, they’ve collected the checks, they’ve even gotten huge advances, they’re buying Bugattis, and spending all kinds of money. But the producers and people that created the songs are not getting paid. And so we’re going through some things now in hopes that it gets fixed. That thing was like the most downloaded song in history, so pay the people who made it. It’s not your record, it’s our record,” Jonsin said.

Clearly Cash Money is making a lot of money, so none of this makes sense. I’ve never heard of a label not paying this many different producers for their work.

Bangladesh has said recently he is going to put in some work on ‘Pink Friday’, Nicki Minaj’s debut album, but make no mistake he’s still trying collect what is owed to him.

“Everything is being worked out t” he told BoomBox. “It’s really out of his control honestly. I mean he don’t run the label, he don’t own the label — he’s just on the label.”

Lil Wayne will be a free man November 5.

Even so, like any album with that kind of sales success, C3 was timely, full of genius singles, but ultimately just a downright solid album from start to finish. Case and point: play just about any song off of that release at a party—even non-singles like “3 Peat,” “Phone Home,” or “Let the Beat Build”—and I promise you that over 95% of people will know the lyrics. That’s why you don’t see artists like Soulja Boy or Jay Sean selling records like Wayne. Sure, they’ll go platinum, but they won’t reach the stratospheric heights that Wayne did because, when it comes down to it, the collective ears of the public still want an album.

Another illustrative example: If you had a pulse in 2004, you knew J-Kwon’s “Tipsy.” The song was massive—you’d hear it four times just flipping through radio stations on any given car ride. Now, just for shits and giggles, check out this tracklist to the album on which “Tipsy” appeared. I dare you to tell me truthfully that you’ve heard of any other song on there. Although J-Kwon has been relegated to the mashup treatment and one-hit-wonder status, in the summer of 2004, he was it. No one bigger in the music biz than this fake ID-toting rapper who experienced a meteoric rise to fame. How many albums did he sell, you ask? 1.6 million to date.

Arguably the crowning achievement of C3 is the unrelenting “A Milli.” It’s gotten remixed after mashuped after freestyled over the past two years, but few ever recapture the song’s original charm. However, with the virtuosic Flying Lotus on the boards, a helium-saturated Weezy is introduced to a fumbling beat that’s kept from collapsing on itself by spitfire rhymes alone. You almost think that if Wayne stops rapping, somehow the whole track will devolve into cacophony. And the best part? The masterful FlyLo tests it out, dissolving the beat entirely at the 1:31 mark. The listener wonders whether the Best Rapper Alive has failed, whether he was unable to keep all the instrumental plates spinning, but then, at 1:43, he cobbles the beat back together with a triumphant “You ain’t got shit.” Did you really think Dr. Carter was going to lose a patient?

Next up we have R.Kelly Ft. Ludacris produced by Bangladesh. Now you definitely will have heard of Bangladesh’s music, he produced Lil Wayne’s famous A Milli track that was just too huge. Also such hits as Video Phone – Lady Gaga & Beyoncé other associated acts are people like Gucci Mane, Ciara, Jamie Foxx, Usher. Either way he’s pretty huge in the music business and is working with Tray J in 2011.

Again I don’t think this  is a UK scene song. More for people who favour the US scene. Ludacris isn’t massively huge over here as it is unless it’s with pretty boy Beiber, or with What’s Your Fantasy which coincidentally was produced by Bangladesh, interesting. Anyway have a listen

R.Kelly Ft. Ludacris – Tongues

Finally we have ourselves a man who absolutely cracked hip-hop with his album Freedom in 2008.  Akon is now back after successfully nurturing and watching Lady Gaga blossom, I think this proves that noone who is really passionate about music can ever leave it, there aren’t a lot of artists who haven’t come back or have still been involved in music after announcing their retirement. Admittedly, some may end up doing this for financial reasons and not for the music but I honestly think the majority just can’t keep away from it.

I think this track is by far the most catchy by far, and to be honest I wouldn’t expect it to be anything less from Akon. It features Big Meech & Rock City on the track, overall arguably the best of the three, still think it may not crack UK but who knows.

Yes, I’m a television and dance ho. I embrace it.

This morning, after waking up crying (do you ever have dreams that lead you there? It’s the most bizarre thing), made some coffee and broke into a blogger obsession: millet bread.

A milli, a milli, a milli, a millionaire, I’m a young money millionaire, tougher than Nigerian hair my criteria compared to your career, this isn’t fair:

Piece of milli with Earth Balance; cherry toms; egg-white omelet with Laughing Cow and ketchup.

Here’s the DL on millet (not about the nutritionals, though– I don’t care to post about that): the pieces are teeny, but they are dense and taste like cornbread. If I can get away with fruit-sweetened health bread that tastes like cornbread, then Imma do it. I found it for $4.99, which is the cheapest I’ve seen in months. Yes, I’ve kept my eye on it.

I let breakfast digest and settle before heading to the gym. Did ma thang on the elliptical (about 6.5 miles) and then worked on arms for 20 minutes. The soreness is already creeping into my shoulders and triceps. Money. Oh! I also did 50 squats– hold for 10 seconds at the end of each set of ten– for bootay maintenance.

After that, I rolled home, showered, dressed and made lunch. I needed more millet:

And by ball salad, I mean a Trader Joe’s meatless meatball-topped insalata. I cannot help my one and only faux-meat loving:

Anyway, lunch was tremendous. As was my afternoon snack of an apple and another piece of millet. Sometimes I’m annoyed when I like already-popular foods so much. It’s not even trendy anymore, it’s passé. Although, do food trends have a longer shelf life than fashion trends? (I’m so punny! Ha!)

The late afternoon hours were spent lounging on my bed and texting people and taking photographs of myself (not that kind):

You know the episode of Sex and the City in which Aiden tries to have Carrie edit her wardrobe, but she refuses, knowing that someday she’ll wear all the items in there (was that shredded top Gucci, Cavalli? I can’t remember)? That is me. The skirt you saw yesterday? Hadn’t been worn in years. These shoes? The exact same deal. This is why I’m still unpacking from school.

The rest of Wednesday was spent with Nannykins and MamaJ. We shopped and then dined out. I had soup and salad, AKA not that fascinating, so here is last night’s incredible dinner:

Potato-filled frittata = delish.

While the ladies enjoyed eggs, the men folk enjoyed some red meat.
