Alguna vez han querido vivir en una película de Sofía Coppola, hablar francés, ser refinado y fanático de la haute couture? Pues si es así, esta debería ser la banda sonora de su vida.

A pesar de tener un nombre y una portada dignos de una banda punk con un cantante que escupe a sus fans en los conciertos (por eso bajé el disco en primer lugar), la propuesta de The xx me sorprendió por su sofisticado sonido dreamy, pop y atmosférico, todo en un empaque exquisitamente bien hecho.

Grabado en un pequeño garage en los estudios XL, este grupo de chic@s (ninguno llega a los 25 años) del sur de Londres han logrado un disco sumamente catchy a pesar de tener unas bases rítimicas leeeeentas, que ocasiones incluso recuerdan a The Cure. Pero además de su instrumentación, son los arreglos R&B de las voces de Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft, los que le imprimen una personalidad distinta a la banda.

Sin una nota de más o algún ritmo que suene rarófilo, este podría ser el debut del año, a pesar de que  todas las canciones suenan muy parecidas entre sí. Ahora si me permiten voy preparar una cena fancy mientras bailo un poco de manera minimalista pop.

Adam Lambert’s music video for his single “For Your Entertainment” has been released.

The video is exactly what I mean when I say Adam is boring.

The video centers around an underground world of dark sexuality.

Of course what imagery do they use to symbolize dangerous sexuality – Eve.

How do I say this? Using Eve is common, banal, cliche, humdrum, insipid, – or however you want to say it.

Not to mention here is Lambert on the cover of Rolling Stone from June 2009 – get a new snake gimmick.

Eve imagery is the most overused fallback in pop music.

Probably the most iconic Eve embodiment is Britney Spears at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.

Aalyiah also works the snake in “We Need a Resolution.”

Destiny’s Child wanders around the forest in skimpy outfits for “Survivor.”

Jennifer Lopez also evokes natural, animalistic sex appeal in “Waiting for Tonight” – which reminds me an awful lot like “For Your Entertainment.”

And if you want to talk about music videos about underground “Dirrty” sex, look no further than Christina Aguilera,

or Lady Gaga’s “Love Game.”

Britney Spears’s “If U Seek Amy” is a personal favorite since it plays on the idea that a good woman should be a hyper-sexual in the home but wholesome out in the public sphere. Because really the only thing better than Eve imagery is the use of the virgin/whore dichotomy – i.e. what made Britney a millionaire.

I was looking up Edward Cullen on Wikipedia and I saw that it said that Edward was a Byronic hero. Because of that, I clicked on the link that explained what a Byronic hero was. Anyway, as I was reading the characteristics, it did sounds like Edward As I continued down the website, it mentioned that Lestat from the Vampire Chronicles and the Phantom from the Phantom of the Opera were Byronic heros as well, but I digress with the Phantom. That made me think about how much Lestat and Edward were alike in the sense that they are both Byronic heros. I think that’s the reason why I don’t like either character. I mean, it’s not that I hate them, but it’s just that they’re not my favorites characters from their respective series. Anyway, I think that’s the reason why I don’t like Lestat and Edward is the fact that they’re Byronic heros.

In my search for any Lestat vs. Edward stuff, I found quite a few pictures that made fun of Edward and the Twilight series or making fun of the fact the Twilight series “outshines” the Vampire Chronicles. The one that I found to be the most funny was the one where it showed Edward and Bella together in the first box, and the following three boxes showing Louis, Lestat, and Armand telling their opinions on the series. I found that Lestat’s and Armand’s reactions to be the most funny. Their reactions were classic Lestat and Armand. Anyway, the next one that I thought was funny was the one where Lestat as picking on Edward. I just found those funny. By the way, you can find the originals at this site.

I was bored recently and was on my computer I don’t know why but I typed Lestat vs. Edward into Google to see what I would get. Anyway, a lot of stuff that popped up were drawings of people making fun of Edward through Lestat’s point of view, and videos and articles asking who would win in a no-holds bar fight. I immediately thought that Lestat would definitely win. I say that because, after looking up their powers as a refresher, while Edward has super strength, super speed, and can read minds, Lestat can do or has all of that, plus so much more. Lestat also has pyrokinesis, the ability to fly, and he’s telekinetic. Plus, he killed an entire wolf pack by himself, albeit with the help of his two mastiff dogs. Anyway, I really think that Lestat would definitely win the fight against Edward, and that’s assuming Lestat doesn’t fall in love with Edward first, which I doubt would actually happen, and that Lestat doesn’t hurt Bella.

This has to be one of the most inspirational episodes yet to date, in my book. Jonathan is so epic in so many ways & have worked & seen & experienced some of the greatest in there raw rare & personal form. Not many people can say that ohhh, i’ve shoot L.Boogie & Aaliyah ,Diddy, i mean everyone! & Jon really showed the history of what he does, take’n it back to polaroid you know I once made a comment on my facebook saying ” throwing edits on pictures doesn’t make it photography, the shot has to be dope to beg. with. just a thought ♥duckie!” & i meant that. It true’ly upsets me to see alot of people running around taking pictures & theres nothing behind or they just dont have THAT eye & so they throw edits on it to make it seem like more the what it is. But given, if your shot is not so good then its still gonna be not so good with edits. Anywho! I loved this episode! & we know MK is gonna keep it coming!

It has been quite a while since my last post. I am trying to get back into the swing of things.  I am completely healed from the surgery, at least physically. At times I still tussle with the fact that I will never have any biological children of my own. I know that this is something that I cannot change, and I will come to accept it one day. But, it is a process.

The most busy time at my job is almost over. We are wrapping up the election, but unfortunately, we may have 6 recounts in our county. So, that will mean not being able to take off days as soon as we would have liked.  I am so ready for a vacation!!!

My little cousin is turning 19 on December 3rd, and she is a die hard Aaliyah fan. She wants an Aaliyah canvas painting. It’s $88 on eBay. I think I am going to get it for her, and that will be her birthday/Christmas present. I honestly believe that she can do the painting herself. She draws, and the girl has skills. Here is the painting she wants.

My brother sent me a text a couple days ago asking if I was butch or femme. Today he sent a text stating that I must be butch because I plan on getting locks somewhere in my going natural process. He stated that he “despises” hard lesbians, and he believes that butches wear locks. Now, this is my thing. It’s hard enough for gays and lesbians to deal with stereotypes and incorrect information from straight people, but to also hear it from gays disheartens me. Oh yeah, my brother is gay. I told him that I don’t do roles. I am neither butch or femme…I am just as comfortable in a dress and heels as I am in jeans and tims.  He stated that there is always a butch and femme in gay/lesbian relationships. This, I do not believe. My wife and I have two friends who are in a relationship, and they are both “butch”. I have friends who are in a relationship and they’re both “femme”. So, to say that there is always one and the other is not true.

He asked me if I was the “boy”. He feels that because a woman “fixes up stuff” around the home, she is “butch”. I don’t believe this either. If a woman who identifies as “butch” cleans the house and cooks, does that make her “femme”? No, it makes her a woman who cleans and cooks. I just don’t like labels. Never have. I am who I am, and that’s it. Don’t try to put me in a box. I cook, clean the house, and I fix things around the house. What does that make me? It makes me an adult with a wife and a home.

I talked to my new natural hairstylist today. I am going to go tomorrow to show her the picture of how I want my hair and we will make an appointment from there. Part of me is so excited about having it cut because I am tired of dealing with two textures. There is part of me that is also nervous…wondering how it will look. I will get through it though. Will post pics once the deed is done.

I don’t see the problem with turning 30. I really don’t. Yeah, it’s going to be weird not telling people I’m Twenty-something anymore but so what? In 10 years, it’s going to feel weird not telling people I’m Thirty-Something. So what?

Does anyone remember that old Aaliyah song? “Age Ain’t Nuthin But A Number”? Exactly.

I feel like I’m a lot smarter now than I was 10 years ago. Granted, I was a little crazy 10 years ago but that’s neither here nor there.

I know my body a lot better than I did 10 years ago. I respect it a lot more and I know that I’m not invincible like how I thought I was when I was younger.

I still like going out with my friends but my bank account is a LOT better than it was when I was 20 and my shoes are a lot better too.

I’ve always been mature for my age. I attribute this to being forced to grow up at a very young age. But you know what I noticed? I’ve learned to relax.

When I was in my early to mid 20’s, I walked around like I had a stick up my ass. In fact, one of my sister’s friends gave me a nickname. He called me “Uptight LA” because I really was. I just didn’t know it at the time. I guess getting offended and going up in his face probably didn’t help my case much….

What’s weird is that I started to mellow out in my late 20’s. I learned not to take everything and everyone so seriously. I stopped listening to what everyone else had to say and I started listening more to myself.

Wow, this post is getting kind of emo….but that’s fine because it’s my first day after my 30th birthday and I’ll do whatever I want.

I know what my 20’s did for me. Despite everything that’s happened to me, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m looking forward to seeing what my 30’s hold.

The following is an excerpt from an actual conversation between Conrad Noir and Marco Sparks last night. Yes, this is what they’re really like…

Marco Sparks: So, you’ll never believe this dream I had the other night…

Conrad Noir: I don’t know if I’m really up for a conversation about your hopes and dreams, man.

Marco: Well, when I say “dream,” what I really mean is sweaty, dread-dripping nightmare.

Conrad: Oh yeah? Shit. Nevermind. You know I’m all ears for that. Shoot.

Marco: Well, I’ll tell you about the nightmare in a second, but first let me tell you about my Saturday night…

Conrad: Always a catch, isn’t there? Shit. Okay, tell me about your Saturday ni-

Marco: It was awesome. But then, later on, I was just trying to go sleep, right? And it’s late, I don’t remember the time, but late. So I turn on the TV and put it on mute, just wanting some flickering light and alpha wave manipulation in the room. Or something.

Conrad: Sure, sure. Perfectly normal.

Marco: So then I lay down on the bed. The room I’m in though, there’s no remote. Or, if there is, fuck if I know where it is.

Conrad: Oh, yeah, man’s constant struggle.

Marco: Right, so I’m stuck with whatever the channel is because, well, I’m lazy.

Conrad: I feel that.

Marco: In this particular case, it was A&E. The former Arts & Entertainment channel.

Conrad: “Former” being the operative word.

Marco: Seriously. Airing that late evening/early morning was a seeming non stop marathon of CSI: Miami episodes.

Conrad: Wow. Ouch.

Marco: Ouch is right. And let me tell you, I could not sleep with that on.

Conrad: How do you mean?

Marco: Every five seconds they cut back to a shot of David Caruso! Constantly! And let me tell you, Caruso has two emotional speeds on that show. The first: Putting on his sunglasses. The second: Taking them off again. People could be on fire, running around screaming, bits of their skin melting off or whatever as creatures of the apocalypse commit homicides or devour souls or just what have you, and Caruso’s cool as Fonzie the whole fucking time.

Conrad: That seems accurate with the little bits of it I’ve caught occasionally.

Marco: Also, it’s freakishly bright. Like, too bright and dayglo for even Miami.

Conrad: Okay.

Marco: It would not let me sleep! I turned over, looked at the flickering light patterns on the wall, like some kind of twisted variation on Plato’s Cave and I felt like Caruso was picking me up from the airport and driving me straight to madness!

Conrad: Caruso’s like that.

Marco: This is the guy from NYPD Blue to subjected America to his ass. Why would you want to see this man’s ass?!

Conrad: Or Dennis Franz for that matter.

Marco: Well… obviously. But, so I lay there, squeezing my eyes shut. But it was no good, man. I knew that Caruso was in the room with me. Putting his fucking sunglasses on. Or worse.

Conrad: Worse?

Marco: He could’ve been taking them off again…

Conrad: Okay, so this was the nightmare?

Marco: Oh, no, this was real. Deadly real. Eventually I must’ve passed out from all the stress of his ontological torture and when I woke up, of course, A&E was still on, right?

Conrad: Yeah, of course.

Marco: So, the sun is shining through the window, birds are chirping little songs and I’m a little tired, but I’m breathing a sigh of relief. I’m all like, “Thank God, it’s morning, I made it. I survived!”

Conrad: This is going somewhere bad, isn’t it?

Marco: You bet your goofy ass it is, my friend. Because there on the TV…

Conrad: Yeah?

Marco: Motherfucking Chris Daughtry was on the TV. Somebody was actually interviewing him!

Conrad: Ugh. Gross.

Marco: Exactly! Why would anyone want to interview that fucker? Why is he on the TV? Why did my day have to start with these violent images? It was like… last night I couldn’t enter the domain of sleep and now… Now I can’t be awake with this in the world!

Conrad: I feel like I need a drink now.

Marco: Me too. From just, you know, reliving that traumatic experience. From being the plaything of the sandman.

Conrad: So what was the nightmare?

Marco: Oh, the nightmare. Yeah, sorry. That was last night. I was like in a room, but I wasn’t. I was like “the camera” or whatever. Anyway, there was a little boy and he was trapped in the room. No windows, yet there was moonlight slipping around. And he was sleeping like a little shit does and then goblins crawled out of the cracks in the walls and out from under the bed and cut off his eyelids or something.

Conrad: Damn. I like that. I mean, that’s seriously creepy.

Marco: Yeah, it was something. When I woke up, I knew you’d love it.

Conrad: You were right. And goblins, you say? Wow. Goblins. That part is especially wild. People don’t throw around the word “goblins” all that much anymore.

Marco: Let me tell you something about goblins, my friend. Something you may not know. Something very few people may actually know.

Conrad: Do it.

Marco: Goblins, man. They’re no joke. They’re fucking scary, and they’re fucked up. And they will fuck you up. You understand me?

Conrad: Yes, I believe I do. But let’s talk about something important now. Let’s talk about me and my dreams. And my nightmares.

Marco: Take aim and fire away, baby.

Conrad: So, you know, I’ve been taking melatonin a lot lately, right?

Marco: Cause you can’t get your hands on ambien, right?

Conrad: Yeah, sorta. I got tricked into trying to go all natural, which is a sham. Whenever in doubt, just go with hard drugs.

Marco: Put that on a t-shirt.

Conrad: Don’t tempt me.

Marco: But I feel you. I have several friends who don’t realize they’re becoming recreational vicodin addicts, which is cool, cause this is America and shit. But I can’t do that stuff anymore. It gives me freaky nightmares. I mean, genuinely freaky nightmares. Like, where the goblins show up and tell me I’ll have erectile dysfunction for the rest of my life and or will be forever locked in a mortgage I can’t afford.

Conrad: As long as you’re not longer dreaming about Avril Lavigne, you’ll be fine.

Marco: I’ll have you know: That was a very special time in my life.

Conrad: Anyway… me. And my nightmare.

Marco: Do it.

Conrad: So, I guess you’re supposed to take melatonin only so much, right? Until it stirs up your… well, I don’t know. Something. Some kind of chemical. I’m not a trained doctor or anything. But you take it short term, you get some rest, you move on.

Marco: Gotcha.

Conrad: But I keep taking it because it gives me juicy nightmares. And I’m a horror movie fan.

Marco: I remember that you were a Freddy guy more than a Jason guy.

Conrad: Exactly! Anyway, so the one I had last night… Wowza.

Marco: Oh?

Conrad: Oh yeah. So I’m like wandering around in this fucked up, dark version of Chuck E. Cheese’s, right?

Marco: This already sounds terrifying.

Conrad: Oh, it was. Believe you me. It so was. And there’s all these fat, sweaty white people around me.

Marco: Your ultimate nightmare.

Conrad: My ultimate daymare, you mean. But there they are. And there’s famous gross white people there too. Like Jeffrey Dahmer.

Marco: I remember that Peanut used to date a guy who looked like Jeffrey Dahmer. Man, I hated that guy.

Conrad: Me too. Well, Dahmer, anyway. But he was the guy who, later on I discovered, didn’t belong in the dream. But there was other famous people too. Like Mary Kay Letourneau. And Roman Polanski. And Joey Buttafuoco. And Debra Lafave. And Pete Townshend. And Bobby Fisher. And Gary Glitter!

Marco: Oh shit. You were at a child molester convention!

Conrad: Exactly. By accident, of course. Once I realized what was going on, I was like, “Oh shit, I gotta get the fuck outta here!”

Marco: Shit. I hope so.

Conrad: So I take off for the door, right? But right as I get to it, I notice the little bulletin board listing who all the speakers are going to be at this thing.

Marco: So, it was like a proper convention then? With speakers and talks and things?

Conrad: Yes! Terrifying, right?

Marco: Very.

Conrad: So I’m running my finger down the board, just looking at all the famous names. I remember that R. Kelly was on there, of course.

Marco: Right. Yeah. “Age ain’t nothing but a number,” after all.

Conrad: And then I get to the end. The keynote speaker.

Marco: Ooh, this is going to be good, isn’t it? Who was it?

Conrad: I’m not bullshitting you here. It was Jon Gosselin.

Marco: Oh… wow.

Conrad: I know, right?

Marco: Yeah. Wow. Eeesh.

Conrad: But, whereas everyone else had their name and like a title of what their speech was going to be about or whatever, after his name… there was just one word. One single word.

Marco: What was it?

Conrad: It was simply… “Gangsta.”

Marco: Oh. My.

Conrad: Uh huh. It shocked me away. And I sat there, in my bed, just catching my breath from the sheer intensity of the thing. And I just whispered it back to myself. “Gangsta.”

Marco: Wow…

Conrad: Yeah, I know.

Marco: Yeah.

Conrad: Yeah.

Marco: Yeah, uh… let’s talk about something else, okay?

Aaliyah was tragically killed in a plane crash in 2001, but her work with the pre-Timberlake Timbaland was ahead of its time. Her voice was always a bit soft, it never felt strong enough for my liking, especially in comparison to some of her contemporaries, but her production selection carried her into the Billboard charts. “Try Again” was no “Are You That Somebody?” with its signature baby coo, but it was a r’n'b classic of its time. As the scene opens up outside of the arena with three people walking around, the main person in the middle can be seen as Noble Domino Jr. While the other two are the twin sisters Maria and Aaliyah that been seen with him for the past few weeks. Noble Domino Jr. is getting ready to take on a man that he has never faced before, and a man that he was hand picked to be the opponent for this other person. Noble Domino Jr. walks up closer to the camera as he notices the camera is pointed at him and the ladies.

Deuce:

This week I was hand picked by Steven Xavior to take on the likes of Marcus Redd. I know the reason Steven Xavior chose me, I am the best person around here for the job, he chose me cause he knew that I was the best and would defeat Marcus Redd, the same way Steven wood. I don’t really know too much about Marcus Redd though. But the one thing that I do know is that I am going to come out of this match as the winner.

Noble Domino Jr. begins to smile as he looks over at the two ladies on each side of him.

Deuce:

Marcus Redd over looks me, he thinks I am just some power house, that uses my strength towards my opponents. Yes in some ways he is correct, I do use my strength but there are other things I can do too, like for a big guy I can fly across the ring with ease. And even greater than that I can fly off the top rope, which is amazing for a man of my size.

Noble Domino Jr. looks around to both of the girls on his arms and motions Maria forward, as if he wants her to say a little something.

Maria:

Marcus Redd, hmm what is there to say about you, you act like you are this big guy that everyone should love… especially the ladies, but if that is so true how come you were once with one of the greatest hoes in the business Harlow. You might think that sounds a little harsh of me, since my sister and I share this man right here, but it is different for us. We have always been used to sharing things, and our man right here is no different. At first I was the one that went out with him, but then my sister decided to go out with him, but before she went out with him she actually asked me was it alright with me.

Noble Domino Jr. puts his arm around Maria’s waist and kisses her on the top of the head, as he then takes over and continues to speak.

Deuce:

I even have seen Shane Fuller’s promo, where he talks about my opponent in it, and even shows a picture of Marcus. This picture showed one of the most wanted guys, Marcus Redd… I think that picture said it all though Marcus, you are one of the worst guys we have here in PWSR today. Not only does PWSR allow great All American guys like myself to become involved in the company, but also they let losers like you into the business to.

Noble Domino Jr. steps back a little ways allowing both of the girls to stand ahead of him as the other sister begins to speak.

Aaliyah:

It’s too bad that you are no longer the No-Limits Champion Marcus. Because when my man Noble beats you he would have been considered as one of the guys to receive a No-Limits Title shot. Noble should receive a title shot anyway, as it is. I know when he had his chance at the title the other week, he was beaten but that doesn’t mean a thing. The Alpha Dog only got lucky and beat Noble.

Noble Domino Jr. walks over to the building along with the girls and leans back against the side of the building propping himself against it.

Deuce:

Marcus Redd calls himself The Ghetto Rockstar, that is something though, because why in the world would you call yourself a Ghetto Rockstar. Yes you might be ghetto, which everyone can tell about you, but one thing you are not Marcus, and that is a Rock Star. Get ready, because this will be the first time you are going up against someone that doesn’t quit aren’t you Marcus. So I am going to warn you now…

I AM NOBLE DOMINO JR. AND MARCUS, I WILL NOT DIE.

Noble Domino Jr. turns towards the ladies grabs a hand on each of them and begins to walk into the building holding the door for them in the process. They then walk through the building until they get to Noble’s locker room.
