Hade gärna varit på Rocklunda (eller ABB Arena eller vad eländet nu heter) igår. Tyvärr var man ju inte det… Hur som helst så tog iskrigarna en välbehövlig vinst i och med att AIK slaktade Västerås IK med 5 – 1.

I dasspappret VLT säger VIK:s spelare Fredrik Nilsson att “AIK straffade oss hänsynslöst”. Precis som det ska vara med andra ord.

Fick ett glatt sms idag från min kollega och vän Jimmie som är VIK:are angående matchen igår. Det löd… “Jag e så j-vla besviken på VIK och deras tränare, styrelse och målvakter så nu dröjer det innan jag går på hockey igen.” Se där ja… Så talar en sann supporter !!!

Vi lämnar gårdagens match och konstaterar att AIK redan imorgon fredag spelar match hemma på Hovet mot Troja/Ljungby som ligger i botten av Allsvenskan.

Matchen tillägnas den bortgångne supportern Lennart Olsson och man kommer att hålla en tyst minut innan nedsläpp. En väldigt fin gest av AIK Hockey och jag hoppas verkligen det kommer mycket publik, dels för att supporta AIK men givetvis också för att hedra minnet av Lennart Olsson.

It has been a long year working offshore… not a completely new experience since I worked on a Oil platform two years ago, but different in a way since this time I was  responsible for delivering the DCS system. In 2007 we  depend entirely in Dragados managing and decisions because for that project we were just another provider,but for PB-KU-H we are the EPC .

Now I feel we could work closer with ABB italy, but the circumstances where different some months ago and the pressure maked me take some different decision back then. I also feel that the technical group from PEMEX was not very open.

Hopefully this last travel was the last one, it was not the fourteen days stay month after month but the sum of all trips… and the boat of course… the boat and the diesel smell. That thirteen hour journey from Ciudad Del Carmen to KU-MALOOB-ZAAP I will never forget…

Les salariés de l’usine ABB viennent de se mettre en grève. La réunion entre la direction, le comité d’entreprise et les délégués syndicaux, n’a pas abouti. Elle concernait le plan social en cours, qui prévoit la suppression de 51 postes à Aunay et la fermeture du site. L’entreprise helvético-suédoise, spécialisée dans la robotique, prévoit la suppression de 540 emplois au niveau national. Aucune réunion n’est prévue pour le moment. La grève doit se poursuivre jeudi.

Fenno-Skan 2 är en ny likströmslänk mellan Sverige och Finland. Länken är kommer till att vara den första på 500kV i det svenska elnätet. Kunderna är Svenska Kraftnät och finska Fingrid Oyj – enligt Svenska Kraftnäts generaldirektör, Mikael Odenberg, kommer kapaciteten för el-överföringen mellan länderna att öka med 40 % när stationen går i drift.

Fenno-Skan 2 var det sista projektet jag arbetade med under min arbetsperiod hos ABB i Ludvika. ABB har ansvaret för de två omriktarstationerna, dess utrustning och kontrollsystem medans svenska Vattenfall Service har fått kontraktet till leveransen av den 70km långa luftledningen mellan omriktaren i Finnböle och Dannebo där överföringen går över i sjökabel.

Jag blir glad när jag tänker på att jag varit delaktig i att ta fram utbildningsmaterial till kund för det här projektet.

ABB has announced it will deliver the drive systems for two high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) to Thyssen Krupp Polysius for the Karara Iron Ore Project in Western Australia.

Located 225 km east of Geraldton, the Karara Iron Ore project is being developed through a 50:50 joint venture between Gindalbie Metals and Chinese steel producer, Anshan Iron & Steel Group Corporation.

Starting in 2011, Karara will deliver approximately 10mega tons per annum (Mtpa) of iron products, comprising 8Mtpa of high grade magnetite concentrate and blast furnace quality pellets and 2Mtpa of direct shipping ore (DSO) hematite.

The new industrial complex includes a conventional open pit operation and involves mining, crushing, milling and concentration of Magnetite ore, then transportation by rail to the Port of Geraldton for export. The project has a resource base of approximately 522 million tons magnetite reserve, plus 1.853 billion tons magnetite resource, a 10.9Mt hematite reserve and a 16.2Mt hematite resource.

ABB’s delivery includes drive systems for two high pressure grinding rolls (polycom drive systems), each consisting of two 2800 kW squirrel cage motors, two MV frequency converters and two converter transformers.

嘩．．．巨吉利事．．．做咩事明明睇龜鐵密語 龜釣墨魚津津樂道，變左咁嘅呢？

哦．．．其實無乜野嘅．．．因為上個月居然發生件咁嘅事．．．．

最近柏林圍牆倒下20週年，杜衣薯果邊攪左個推骨牌遊戲，點知道推到最尾，居然有塊中國字嘅骨牌唔冧 。點解呢？

哦，因為當年柏林圍牆響西德側係畫晒graffiti嘅，咁依樣葫蘆，寫返書法響共產黨嘅圍牆道，係唔係好好玩呢？

雖然中華民國嘅時代，中國就已經有唔少嘅鐵道線，但係到一片紅之後嘅幾十年，不論車輛定係線路都係停留響戰時水平，首條電鐵線都係1959年先有．．．可憐矣。於是乎 National Rail Services 就想趁廣九鐵路電化再加埋自動閉塞工事，想玩埋一份。不過National Rail Services 始終以前係On Her Majesty’s Service 嘅國鐵，要開新服務呢，一係就學共慘黨咁買搖搖板車番嚟，過彎又漂下，過彎又漂下，都咪話唔好玩。再唔係就學薯衣薯嘅<<班2000計劃>>（Bahn2000），即係薯衣薯嘅鐵路發展策略2000咁，買ICN嚟玩下，穿洲過省啱晒。不過National Rail Services就expect好多人會坐香港自己嘅城市快速列車（Intercity Express），ICN可能細左小小。薯衣薯雖然細咋，但係為左renew全國嘅班，居然用左二十幾年時間都未完成呢個巨計劃。啱響呢個計劃裡面，大運量城際運輸可以用IC2000呢個solution攪掂，於是就啱晒National Rail Services嘅要求啦。

之不過咁，National Rail Servies只係想玩下城際穿洲過省服務服務，唔係話包晒佢嚟做。所以都係是但係咁要番一兩抽到，之不過咁小單人地，就好難同你造嘅．．．咁可以點呢？呢個時間阿拉丁神燈就出嚟啦。

話說起緊西線嘅時候，咁啱薯衣薯就有公司入標做西線嘅電力Switching Gear。咦．．．呢間公司係薯衣薯道嚟，IC2000又係薯衣薯．．．係唔係可以暗乘番嚟呢？答案是真確的可以 話說呢間電力設備公司有隻由意大利設計嘅跑車，呢呢呢，未就係IC2000後面拖住果架攞，你鐘意嘅可以嵌入去IC2000入面，都可以跑到200km/h嫁。仲唔啱晒National Rail Services？不過要點先可以暗乘番嚟呢？雖然薯衣薯嘅產品優質世界知名，但係價錢就略嫌貴左小小咁多多。如果用同樣多的價錢，就可以買到多d野呢，咁就真係好抵啦。於是乎，人地只係送兩架車出去，將標成功攞到，National Rail Services又可以載客，大家話好唔好呢？

萬事俱備，只欠東風。跑車ok左，只係差載客嘅包廂啦。正所謂得些好意需回手，要兩抽IC2000就真係幾離譜嘅，兩架跑車就算啦。咁無得暗乘客車，又搵邊個好呢？幾十年前，當National Rail Service仲係單線通票閉塞非電化時，曾經因為英國Mk. I 客車唔適合香港用，道門又會無啦啦打開跌人出去好危險，而搵左日本造客車。於是乎，就唯有自己造好個design，再搵番幾十年前嘅老朋友同佢造個雙層芝士孖寶客車加埋個川重台車。就係咁，就攪掂所有野啦。而都係因為咁，有份參與整雙層芝士孖寶客車嘅公司，日後都成為左National Rail Services嘅好朋友。

雖然National Rail Service電線桿、支信號燈、同車入面個叮叮叮都係英國嘅，但係呢道係香港，所以意大利跑車嚟到香港之後，間唔中又熱暈，好彩最後無咩事。如是者，就每日不停跑，跑足11年。甚至要驗身嘅時候，有一架跑車去左整，令一架就全力跑。365日有足service俾大家。 真係要學阿寶講番句：你俾我透下得唔得呀？

話說今年年中驗身期間，得一架意大利跑車拖住嘅雙層芝士孖堡嘅時間，因為架跑車支力得滯，又唔夠訓響粉嶺站附近唔舒服，要老爺柴頭接番屋企。點知全身檢查之後無幾耐，又病左。原本以為只係傷風凍親係小事，再番屋企透下就無事。點知響屋企透完出嚟之後一過深圳圍牆之後無耐就發燒．．．仲唔識行添。廣九鐵路雖然係複複線，但係外側線要嚟俾河蟹號，內側先至係俾貨物列車同唔河蟹又唔符合國情嘅車行。於是乎，你一停低，後面就唔駛行攞。

於是又可以點呢？一，龜仔賠幾十萬。二，以其他機車慢速拉離開。如果Option 2 可以解決所有問題，咁Option 1就可以唔駛啦。結果阿爺就臨時響隔離搵左架SS1嚟拉．．．咦？唔係拉意大利跑車咁刺激下？ 係呀．．．無辦法啦，鬼叫佢就停響樟木頭，於是乎為左了貫徹國家主席所講嘅：以人为本，建设和谐社会。不過想學全程為你、以客為先？仲好有難道wor。點都好，人地都係上市公司（唔知道算唔算世界級w），都係要將乘客車去目的地先。於是就唯有出動老爺古老大車，拉架意大利進口跑車去廣州先，之後再拉落去深圳就可以搵柴頭帶番佢番屋企啦。

咁究竟之後又會唔會咁呢？實在係無人可以保證到。之不過KTT一年365日係咁跑，依家已經11歲啦，仲可以支持幾耐實在係無人知。而且又無得學日本咁有運休期，整又唔夠時間，透又唔夠時間。意大利跑車同雙層芝士孖寶客車係龜仔入面唯一single fleet group 嘅車，要保養佢唔係低成本。如果要出單買新嘅，又有咩選擇呢？唔通要ES64機頭？睇嚟都係旨意香港新幹線算吧啦。

For many years the Middle East has shipped carbon based fuels to Europe- now a plan to ship clean electrons on this same route has just moved one step forward. A group of 12 European companies is moving forward with the signing of contracts last week to form an LLC called Desertec Industrial Initiative (DII.)  This project is likely the most ambitious power project ever created and aims to power up to 15% of Europe’s electricity needs (100 GW) using massive solar thermal farms in the sunny, desolate Middle Eastern/North African deserts and transmitting these electrons North to Europe.

This Munich based consortium hopes to begin transmission by 2015, finish by 2050 and cost around $400 billion. The project, if successful, will help alleviate dependence on Russian gas as well as power some North African communities. Newly designed transmission technologies aim to reduce transmission load loss typically observed over high distance transmission. Some of the many risks the project will need to overcome are: geopolitical issues, international cooperation amongst many non-neighboring countries, transmission challenges, solar thermal technology risk, capital constraints, and project/transmission location needs. Desertec certainly could prove to be a profitable and high profile success story however if these challenges are all managed well.

ABB has selected Intergraph^®, provider of enterprise engineering and geospatial software, for the development of an oil and gas pipeline network and relevant facilities in North Africa. The pipeline network will be built in the El Merk field, a remote, harsh desert location in Algeria.

            Geospatial-based pipeline infrastructure management solutions from Intergraph enable companies to design, construct and maintain pipelines and assets more effectively and demonstrate a comprehensive pipeline integrity program while reducing the cost of maintaining records. By storing records in a central geographic information system (GIS), the solution makes information readily available for a variety of applications, improving record keeping productivity while assuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

            Geospatial technology from Intergraph will play a significant role in the design and installation of the pipeline, field gathering stations, gas distribution manifolds, flow and trunk lines and water and gas re-injection facilities in El Merk. The technology will support the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) model, the most widely implemented pipeline data model in the industry, and all data will be stored in an Oracle Spatial database. The implementation will also include a portal component for the seamless distribution of data to all parties, including field and remote users.

Six salariés du groupe ABB ont été convoqués cette semaine à la gendarmerie de Montluel (Ain) dans le cadre d’une plainte déposée par la direction pour “séquestration, injures et dégradations”, a-t-on appris aujourd’hui auprès des syndicats.

“Six salariés ont eu la surprise d’être convoqués par la gendarmerie de Montluel les 28 et 29 octobre”, a précisé dans un communiqué l’intersyndicale CGT-CFDT-FO-CFE/CGC en rappelant qu’une plainte avait été déposée le 10 juillet par la direction à la suite des “mouvements sociaux du mois de juin”.

Les syndicats ont dit avoir écrit à la direction pour demander le retrait de la plainte. Ils ont estimé qu’en “agissant de la sorte, la direction envenime la situation déjà tendue et ne favorise pas la paix sociale”. “Nous constatons que cette plainte est particulièrement orientée contre deux organisations syndicales, la CGT et la CFDT”, ont affirmé les syndicats dans le communiqué.

Dans le cadre d’un plan social comprenant 540 suppressions de postes, les consultations des représentants du personnel avaient donné en juin à des réunions très tendues. Le 2 juin, sept dirigeants avaient été retenus pendant deux heures par des salariés qui avaient interrompu un comité central d’entreprise (CCE) à Montluel. Le 23 juin, lors d’un autre CCE également à Montluel, des salariés mécontents avaient renversé du matériel dans les locaux de l’entreprise.

Sur les six salariés auditionnés par les gendarmes, cinq sont des délégués syndicaux (3 CGT et 2 CFDT) ainsi qu’un sympathisant CGT, a indiqué Jean-Paul Goutagny (CFDT).

February host is Arc Technology, an ABB- and Ruukki-owned company. I know the company and some people from there, but I guess the offering has evolved from what I remember. Looking forward to see how this heavy industry specialist will operate.

Seit Wochen habe ich mich gefragt, was wohl die Firma ABB in Sachen “Affäre Ghadhafi” unternimmt. Schliesslich ist einer der beiden Schweizer Geschäftsleute Mitarbeiter von ABB. In den Medien war nichts zu lesen und nichts zu hören. Wenn eine Firma schon Aufträge in Risikoländern annimmt, sollte sie sich im Fall eines Falles nicht vor den möglichen Konsequenzen drücken. Und die sind ja wie allgemein bekannt vor nunmehr 15 Monaten eingetroffen. Eine aktive Beteiligung an Verhandlungs- bzw. Beratungsgesprächen, eine Unterstützung der Bundesratskommission bis hin zur Beteiligung an den Kosten der seit Monaten andauernden Vermittlungsbemühungen der Schweizer Regierung wäre denkbar – gewesen. Aber nichts dergleichen. Doch siehe da: am 23. Oktober gibt der CEO von ABB, Herr Joe Hogan, ein Statement ab.

“Wir arbeiten weiter daran mit, eine Lösung zu finden und unterstützen Max Göldis Familie so gut wie möglich.”

Weiter? Was hat ABB denn bereits unternommen? Alt-Bundesrat Blocher findet prompt, dass ABB “etwas tun müsse”. Gemeint ist die Bezahlung von Lösegeld. Wollen wir hoffen, dass weder Regierung noch Konzern diese Möglichkeit ernsthaft in Betracht ziehen. Es wäre der falsche Weg und ein weiteres Signal an die Welt, dass man mit der Schweiz alles machen kann.

Since taking on the duty as Conservation Programs Coordinator for the Roger Williams Park Zoo, I have had many fantastic opportunities in my career.  I have traveled to Papua New Guinea to help conduct biodiversity surveys discovering new species in remote forests that have never been surveyed before.  I returned in 2004 to introduce conservation curriculum to third world schools in remote Papuan villages.  I have been working on the front lines of the global amphibian crisis to save amphibians in Panama, and have been working in partners with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service propagating and reintroducing federally endangered insect species for 14 years now, just to name a few.

Nothing has been more rewarding than my work with the federally endangered American burying beetle.  This project has exposed me to some of the best professionals in the field and many have become my good friends over the years.  I can not say enough about the beetle team past and present, a group of people, far too many to name, not only here in the eastern portion of this species range, but out west as well.  All dedicated to one single cause, the recovery of the critically endangered American burying beetle.

In a conservation world often dominated by efforts to save more charismatic mega fauna it is refreshing to see more efforts underway to save the little pieces of the ecosystem, the ones often deemed creepy and crawly that get little recognition for the valuable role they play in the ecosystem. It is also refreshing to see, and know, so many dedicated people are working on conservation projects aimed at saving entire habitats.  This approach benefits all the flora and fauna, great and small.  The loss of our valuable pollinating species such as Honey bees and butterflies are finally starting to get some national attention.  As a conservation biologist it hurts to often see beneficial species like snakes and insects often lose their life to the hands of humans, humans who feel justified in doing so and feel like they have just done mankind a huge favor.

The American Burying Beetle Project, to me is a beacon of home for all the so called “CREEPY CRAWLEYS” out there.   I hope this project continues to be a model for new projects aimed at the recovery of other endangered insect species.  The whole science of invertebrate conservation is fairly new and there is so much more we need to learn.  One key part of these kinds of efforts is education.  It is important that people understand the vital role every creature plays in the natural world in order for them to truly appreciate it.

The American burying beetle has just gained a new and very powerful advocate, Jane Goodall.  The project was chosen to be featured in Jane Goodall’s new book, Hope for Animals and There World; Bringing Endangered Species Back From the Brink. As one of my colleagues put it “she (Jane Goodall) is the mother Theresa of conservation” and boy is she.  When Jane Goodall speaks people listen, she is well known and respected in every corner of the globe.  I recently had the distinguished honor to join Dr Goodall and her amazing staff for a book signing and book release celebration in New York City. It was a thrill to be in the presence of such an amazing woman, one who was a childhood hero of mine.  Dr. Goodall was very intrigued by the American burying beetle and especially the fact that it cares for its young, a very unusual trait in the insect world.

Dr. Goodall is helping to bring worldwide recognition not only to the American burying beetle, but the importance of all the so called Creepy Crawly’s in the ecosystems and the need for invertebrate conservation measures worldwide.

EU-kommissionen dömde på onsdagen
ABB till böter på 33,8 miljoner euro för att ha deltagit i en
kartell bland tillverkare av krafttransformatorer 1999-2003.

ABB AB är det företag som fått böta mest: 33,8 miljoner euro. Förotum ABB så var det bland annat franska kraftbolaget Areva (16,5 miljoner euro) och tre japanska företag: Toshiba (13,2 miljoner euro), Hitachi (2,5 miljoner euro) och Fuji Electronics (1,7 miljoner euro). Det komiska har inte kommit än… nämligen det att Siemens var även de en storaktör i detta “kartelldrama” men tack vare att Siemens anmälde ärendet till EU-kommisionen så slipper dem sin böter motsvarande 33,4 miljoner euro.

The biggest Danish utility owner has successfully completed the installation of LIOS’ Single Mode DTS equipment to monitor the power cable temperature of an offshore UK wind farm. This wind farm consists of 25 wind turbines and running in total 150.000 hours/year, designed for operational usage for in total 20 years. The high voltage power cable route is approx 20km long and connecting the offshore substation to a substation onshore. The DTS system provides real time distributed temperature sensing of the HV cable sections subsea and those inside the towers and ensures save and stable grid operation. Furthermore it helps activating hidden capacity reserves during dynamic transmission requests.
