Abbey North Gardens recently forwarded these employment opportunities for graduating students interested in internships within the market gardening/farming sector.

Abbey Gardens Community Trust Inc. is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire, educate and collaborate with community partners to help Haliburton County residents and visitors successfully transition to a low-carbon economy through innovative community-based research and demonstration projects, especially in the areas of food and energy. In this way, Abbey Gardens will serve as a catalyst, helping to reduce and eliminate human actions that erode and irrevocably damage the local and global ecosystem services we depend on for our survival.

Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC) have dismissed an Phil Hollobone’s claims

Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC) have dismissed an Phil Hollobone’s claims that its decision to complain to police over criticism of the burka in a political debate was “outrageous” and said the reaction showed Phillip Hollobone was “living on a different planet”. May I suggest that it is the driving force behind NREC, Anjona Roy and Paul Crofts, that are on a different planet. A survey in the Chronicle and Echo today on “Should an MP have been reported to police over his comments about the burka?” currently reveals that just 13% of respondents agree with NREC. The comments from Phil Hollobone has inflamed a furious Anjona Roy, saying: “He is the one whose behaviour has been outrageous, that’s why I went to the police in the first place. He must be living on a different planet if he thinks he can say that and for it not to be seen as offensive.” Anjona is easily outraged, I seem to remember Anjona saying she’d get the police when someone told her at the Borough Council count in 2007 that she ” looked nice in that dress”. I hope it is now patently obvious to all that we have been telling the truth about this sordid gang of haters that are funded out of your council tax. They are an organisation hell-bent on destroying the British way of life and will seek to oppose any that disagree with them, through legal channels if necessary. Why these people choose to sponge off the tax-payer rather than go and get a proper job is beyond me, or is being a charity a lucrative business to be in these days? Councils across the county must immediately review their funding of this far-left organisation that has links to Communist groups. If you want to see Anjona and tell her she is wrong she will be outside the Co-op in Bushlands Road, Northampton on Saturday dishing out her Hate not Hope tat.

Budget Comment
A mixture of good and bad in the budget as normal, although the bad outweighs the good. Thanks to many years of Gordon Browns ‘prudence’ followed by Darling’s disastrous handling of the banking fiasco, the country is in a financial mess that has never been witnessed before which will take over a generation to put right. Typical of most chancellors he has hit those that are worse off with quick and easy to gather tax increases on petrol, fags and booze. The one positive in the budget, in my eyes at least, was the removal of Stamp duty on houses under £250K. Something needed to be done to spark movement in the housing markets, it is just a pity he didn’t couple this with the scrapping of the pointless Home Information Pack (HIP). Now people have got some additional reason to move home, let’s hope the greedy bankers play ball and start lending people money for mortgages.

Daventry By-Election Called
Conservative councillor Barry Howard (Abbey North) has resigned his position on Daventry District Council. He had been a councillor since 2003. A by-election for the vacancy will take place on May 6th, the same day that 13 other seats are up for election for Daventry District Council.
