I have been poorly. Not stricken with the plague, not even afflicted with swine flu, but nonetheless knocked down by a virus which i’m only now getting the better of. Thursday and Friday i was off work and languished* on my bed. Saturday and Sunday i don’t work anyhow and by the latter i was definitely up to pootling. In any case, i’d run out of cat food; so i had no choice but rejoin the living.

And today, Monday, i went back to work.

It’s a curious thing, being off sick. You always tend to imagine – alright, make that, i always tend to imagine – that people are wondering where you are or suspecting you of skiving. Hence our tendency to return just before we are better; so that we still have some symptoms to wave at our (imaginary) critics. No-one can argue with a cough.

The truth, of course, is that by and large no-one even notices you’re not around. If they do happen to look up and observe your empty desk, they assume you’re: at a meeting / on a course, or have taken a day’s leave.

Stay off even longer and eventually they forget you’re even supposed to be there. I know this only too well as this happened with a colleague just recently. She was unexpectedly forced to take leave and initially – she’s our administrator so people do notice when she’s absent – there was concern and speculation about how long she’d be gone.

A week passed. People became re-absorbed in their lives and their deadlines.

Another week passed. A temp took over most of her duties.

When she finally returned we realised we’d forgotten she was away. In the words of a friend: “It’s like the waters close over you.” Everyone enthused at her return and – make no mistake: she’s a nice person and a good worker; we were all enthused at her return. Yet hidden inside the welcome was guilt.

Of course, i hadn’t been off nearly long enough for people to forget about me. But i do wonder how long it would take. Not nearly as long as the colleague i’ve just mentioned, that’s for sure.

* I did manage to blog, even while languishing however. The wonders of an iPhone combined with an urge to witter!

ユースケースとしては、ディレクトリを2つ指定して、before/after を明示的に表示させたい場合など。

Nakajima Saki was absent from today’s C-ute ~Cutie JUMP~ concert due to the flu. This was the notice at the concert:

Apparently the flu that has struck Berryz has also started to spread to other H!P groups, specifically C-ute, and it might be due to the time of the year (flu season, change of weather, etc) or Saki being in close contact with other sick members or equipment they used (these are just guesses and not confirmed).

From what I can notice she will only be missing this concert so I hope it is only a small flu and nothing that will require a week to recover from.

Hopefully the other C-ute members take care since Erika’s graduation is coming up soon and it would be really disappointing to see some members missing in the last concert.

Mayn Jennifer Lopez  and Marc are out so much they probably forgot their children were even around. Pobrecito los boo boos. Anyhoo, The White House hosted a dinner/dance partay in celebration of Latin Music. Of course every Latino and their momma was there.

I am loving this dress on j.lo and Kristen Dunst. In fact, I had this picture of Kristen for quite some time now and was just waiting to post it at the right time and here we are both of these ladies wore a bronze mini dress with a flared skirt, accented with a bow at the waist.

Kristen Dunst wore this dress front row at the Rodarte Spring 2010 show and as I mentioned before J.lo wore it out the other night at the White House.

So, one of my work colleagues wasn’t at work yesterday. When he came back today, I asked in passing, “Hey man, feeling better?” To which he replied, “I had piles.”

Chisme will take a short leave of absence as I will be re-locating to El Lay and will need a few days to get moved and situated and cross my fingers that we get internet where we are at!

In the meantime, enjoy the chisme aka gossip from the past!

When I look over the pages I have written lately and a long time ago, I see something between the lines.  The things I could have said better.  The things I still don’t have the courage to do.  I wonder if the wind feels like this.  I wonder if the groundhog sniffing October doesn’t think, “Next spring?”  And I wonder what circling the hawk would do, if he could see the snake sunning himself on the path, as I saw it today.  And would he wish him peace, and would he say, “Love, love, love,” and still devour him?  The osprey’s last meal takes him all the way to Brazil.  This is how one sea feeds another.  And the ones who aren’t strong enough to find the south lie everywhere around us, on the rocks and in the sand, like proof.  Count tonight the absent ones.  Let the empty beds, the naked trees, the silent attics and dark basements fill the pages up.  They might suggest a sadness too close to call by name.  Or show how far a man might go to find the precipice.

Hey, sorry I’ve kinda been gone from the blog for a while. I’ve just been busy and kinda not feeling the whole taking pictures thing at the moment. I guess like everything I just go though phases and stages. Also I’ve been super interested in make-up and skin stuff lately. Like kinda obsessed….! lol. So spending most of my pennies on make up and I’m really exited to go to Lush tomorrow and pick up some cool new skin and face care products. Maybe I will show you folks some of my new stuff… I dono. lol
