I just picked up Meta Gear Acid (Ac!d) for the PSP and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the DS. After having played the heck out of Acid 2, I can say that they are different. Acid 2 makes a lot of improvements to the system, while on the surface, the story in Acid 1 sounds a little better so far. As for Castlevania, i’m only 3 maps into it, but I can definitely say that this is one of the best experiences outright i’ve played in quite some time. I’ll say this, the music is fantastic and the character art is amazing. I’m looking forwarding to getting further into this.

On a side note, in Fallout 3 i’ve finally reached level 5. But, everytime I level up I always have this feeling of if I screwed up my perks and specials. Anyway, I’m starting to wander aimlessly because to me, it seems like some of the quests are broken. For example, Lucy West sends me on a quest to deliver a letter to her family, but when I get to the area and find them, my quest notes still say I need to deliver the message. So I went back thinking it would update, and tell her but the quest still says deliver the letter. *sigh*. There’s another quest with the water repair guy that seems broken too. Maybe i’m doing them wrong, I dunno, but I am following the steps i’m sure.

On another side note, I finally downloaded Left 4 Dead demo (PC)! I’m gonna play tonight with my brother. I played about 5 minutes last night, before my son turned off my computer, and it was pretty cool. I’ve got it reserved on the 17th. Can’t wait!

Essa história de Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 ter passado ou não no teste do Acid 2 tá dando bastante muvuca não é mesmo? Mais agora sai o resultado oficial da pergunta que não quer calar:

Sim! Por incrível que pareça ele passou mesmo! O problema é que quase todo mundo pensou que o teste oficial fosse no endereço “acid2.acidtests.org” que nada! É um endereço assim digamos “falso” que tinha alguns código a mais e confunde o navegador, o endereço oficial do teste é   http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html

O Teste do Acid 2, é a página mais temida por todos os navegadores, pois nela existe uma espécie de “Emoticon” que combina partes com imagens, texto, Flash e tudo quase junto para embaralhar o navegador, alguns passam , outros não, outros chegam perto mais não passam, e há algum tempo atrás foi lançado o teste do Acid 3 que dá outra página para o navegador abrir, pode demorar um pouco e ele apresenta um número de uma escala de 0 à 100, quantop mais próximo do 100, mais compátivel é o navegador! Vamos ver os resultados de alguns testes?!

I wrote my previous post in IE8, everything saved and ‘blogged’ but the post text. I had to login on Firefox and paste it in, YES, luckily I had copied it to be safe.

I am afraid for now it is still Firefox 2 for me as Firefox 3 to be fair also presents problems on sites like MySpace (maybe because it’s written in ASP – a Microsoft code).

Maybe there needs to be an ACID 3 already?

Today I found out about the first public beta of Internet Explorer 8. Microsoft’s follower from the current IE7 (even though most people are still using 6 or 5). At first it seemed really cool, it looks good, although not much has changed from IE7 and has some great nifty little features (I think there is a feature war going on between Firefox 3 (beta) and IE8). Now, the first we heard about IE8 about a month ago (even on BBC News) was that it passed the Acid 2 test, this is a face which uses the latest web dev coding (don’t ask me – I’m not a geek) which would not display as a face but rather a mess (a bit like Ceefax/Teletext pages when there is a bad signal). The face should show in IE8, FF3 and in theory all next gen browsers. Everything went well until I looked at a friend’s blog which uses the K2 WordPress theme. The nav bar was WRONG! Check it out for yourself. I then also spted similar problems in the WordPress administration panel. So, just because a browser passes Acid 2 doesn’t mean that it is standards compliant. Think about it. By the way, to my knowledge, Firefox 3 DOES NOT have these problems.

Una delle maggiorì novità che gli utenti Windows stavano aspettando con ansia, era la perfetta aderenza di Internet Explorer 8 con gli standard Web, ovvero il superamento del Test Acid 2.
Effettivamente da Redmond arrivavano voci confortanti, che confermavano la corretta esecuzione del test, ma ciò non toglie che sono in moltissimi ad essere rimasti delusi quando hanno provato e fallito il test dopo l’annunciata release ufficiale.

Direttamente dal Blog ufficiale di Internet Explorer arriva la risposta a questo “dilemma”.
Non esiste una sola versione dell’ Acid Test, oltre a quella che risiede nella pagina ufficiale, ci sono molti siti che ne propongono copie identiche.
Generalmente un browser dovrebbe essere in grado di riprodurre un determinato contenuto sempre allo stesso modo, indipendentemente dalla pagina in cui questo si trova, ma per Internet Explorer 8 e l’Acid Test non è così…continua su geekissimo.com
