Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be attending the Copenhagen Conference after all, it was announced yesterday, one day after Harper had said he wasn’t going to be attending.  No reason was given for the flip-flop.  At recent climate change conferences such as Bali, Canada has sided with the old U.S. administration, Australia, and Japan to block serious 2020 emission reduction targets.  The other delegates at the Bali conference went so far as to boo the U.S. delegation.  Finally, the delegate from Papua New Guinea, Kevin Conrad, challenged the U.S.:

“If you are not willing to lead, then get out of the way.”

Remember, it was in Bali that Canada was awarded the “Fossil of the Day” gold medal, the U.S. got the silver, and the two countries together shared the bronze!  These are awarded to the nations that were most active in blocking, stalling, or undermining the UN climate change negotiations.  While the other countries Canada sided with – the U.S., Australia, and Japan – have all had a change in leadership, here in Canada we are blessed to have the Harper Conservatives once again leading our nation’s delegation.  And they are insisting that Canada is working on the international front “actively and constructively through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to develop an effective international agreement to address climate change in the post-2012 period.” (personal correspondence from David McGovern, Assistant Deputy Minister, Canadian International Affairs Branch). Mind you, this is what they insisted at Bali, as well.  As the Toronto Star said of Canada at Bali:

It is hard to argue that one is building bridges when they so obviously lead nowhere.

What can Canadians do?

• Encourage Prime Minister Harper and Environment Minister Jim Prentice, to commit to a real, fair, and binding treaty on emissions in Copenhagen in 10 days.
• Go to Moms Against Climate Change and upload a picture of your under-18 child or children to remind Harper who he is representing at Copenhagen.
• Organize or join a “Vigil for Survival” on December 11 or 12.
• Donate to Avaaz.org’s campaign to raise money to fund delegates from poorer, climate-vulnerable nations to Copenhagen.

What do others learn from you? What do they see as “normal”, with regard to the life that you live? Where did you learn it? Are you content, in what you have learned? Are you content, as those around you, will inevitably learn it from you?

What do you “promote”? What do your actions “glorify”? What do others witness, as you “emphasize” those actions? Can you justify them? By whos standards, are you able to justify them? Your own? Were they “pre-justified”, when you learned them from someone else?

Regarding those “actions” of yours. Are they justified in the eyes of God, and if they are not, will you continue to perform anyway, simply because many before you have somehow created the mindset that they are, in fact, “normal”?

As you read these words, many people will take their last breath here on this earth, this is the inevitability of our mortality. The God given heart that beats inside my chest is literally overwhelmed with desperation, as I am faced with this very real question. How many of them are taking their place for eternity, right now, in hell?

Is the enemy of our Creator smiling, as he awaits your death, or is he desperately trying to separate you from your purpose in Jesus Christ, before it happens? On what ground, do you stand? Who commands your heart?

Luke 13:27-28 – “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you came from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’ There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out.

Where will you spend eternity, and who will follow you as a result of your “actions”?

One world, at the feet of Jesus Christ. God Bless!!

I recently read a blog post on servant leadership with some interest ( reference blog from  http://inside919.ning.com/ but no longer active ).  It reminded me of a conversation the week before in which I asserted that when one of our company’s project managers deploys a team, that PM’s first responsibility is to the members of the team for their well-being. This does not diminish any responsibility to the client, company or shareholders, but it reflects a proper attitude toward and appreciation for those who execute the hands-on work.  On a practical level, modeling this attitude with consistent actions yields manifold benefits in the form of team effort and project outcomes.  When you go beyond mere words and demonstrate that you care about your team and consistently guard their interests, they tend to go the extra mile for you.

You’ve read books, taken classes, maybe even worked with a coach and still life feels backwards, all out of synch with what you are desiring to experience. What in the heck fire is going on here you ask over and over.

Your subconscious is the key to this contradiction. What you are saying is not what is programmed in your belief system. I know you’ve done affirmations, probably have them posted all over your home.. yet things still are not lining up the way you think they should.

In order to shift your core beliefs you just might have to use some “coyote medicine”, a Native American teaching of tricking yourself into learning something. Here’s how it works. You state many times each day I am abundance, prosperity, love, etc. You feel it.. you really do feel the emotions connected with those states of being.. but when you have opportunity to BE that in action the old subconscious beliefs raise their head and have their way with your expression.

Take this example. You are saying I AM LOVE>> over and over again. You feel the love of Source flowing into you.. every cell dances in delight.. wow.. you think “I’ve got it now”.

Some time later an car pulls out in front of you and cuts you off. At ONCE you yell.. “Stupid.. don’t you know how to drive!”

What happened? You ARE LOVE… you know you are.. you feel it.. goodness you’ve said it thousands of times, you’ve felt LOVE flowing into you.

Subconscious is what happened. You are programmed to react to fear with anger. What’s the answer to this dilemma?

Look for opportunity to ACT like LOVE throughout your day. Don’t wait for the driver to pull out or the child to pour milk down your silk dress to think about acting like LOVE. Be aware of all those little opportunities to BE LOVE. ACT LOVE before thinking about it. Have your smile and kind words ready at all times. Share them with each person you come into contact with. ACT rather than think. BE rather than feel.

The same process works for prosperity. You say you are prosperous.. but when given the chance to share some of your abundance you hesitate long enough for thought to kick in. Old thought says, “wait a minute here, you worked hard for that money”, “you just might need that for something that comes up”, “it’s not your job to take care of the financial needs of others”.. so you don’t donate, you don’t help out that friend in need, you don’t share your abundance because the old subconscious beliefs butt in.

Rather than giving yourself time to go subconscious just go ahead and ACT. Give when you feel the inspiration. At that instant, GIVE.

Acting.. taking action to BE is the quickest way to reprogram your subconscious beliefs. It will take practice but in a short time you will discover that the subconscious has begun buying into a new belief system based on the ACTIONS you are taking.

For help in shifting your beliefs

Last night i visited a church service. This was very interesting as it gave me a chance to mediums in action and do a recce of the location. I was also able to start creating a shot list from this visit.

We live in a world where everyone is soliciting our minds to get them to see things their way. How do we go about forming opinions that will affect the way that we live our life. Below are some basic instructions.

1. Listen to three different people who you think are intelligent

2. Pick up some great quotes

3. Use your voice

4. Find a people with good ears

5. Regurgitate

I clearly say this in jest, however we know many people who actively use this method when forming an opinion. We form opinions everyday: we listen to ads, podcasts, talk radio, cable news and those all around us. However, have we mentally checked out? Have we become consumers in how we form an opinion, “purchasing” the opinion with the most appeal or whichever might land well with the widest audience?

Many of you have probably heard of the Mortimer Adler classic, How to Read a Book. This book demonstrates that reading and consuming information is an active process. We must realize that forming opinions is an equally active process that requires time to assess pertinent information critically and with an open mind.

What steps do we take when forming an opinion? Do we avoid sources of information that we feel oppose our snap judgments? Think of the conservative avoiding NPR/CNN to consume ONLY Fox News. What level of importance does scripture play into forming an opinion?

It is my belief that as believers in Christ, we must build our belief systems and positions using the inspired word of God as our foundation. So how do we approach extra biblical sources and their impact on our positions? What do we do with the philosophers of old and the information that we develop and analyze in our vocations and lives?

For a respected source on how opinions are formed, I spoke with Jim Spiegel, Professor of Philosophy at Taylor University and an Executive Board Member, Evangelical Philosophical Society. When asked about the use of extra biblical resources in forming an opinion, Jim explained, “I don’t believe that extra biblical resources are brought in when forming an opinion because I believe that all knowledge should point to our understanding about God.” True opinions are formed when our curiosity and dedication to our vocations motivate us to knowledge, but we must remain adamant in our belief that scripture is authoritative in our lives and infallible in its character. How we interpret scripture sets the course for our thinking and how we process information.  How should we interpret scripture? I have always been taught that we should interpret scripture with scripture itself and with accepted historical texts.

Almost all of us have experienced the frustration of someone pointing to a chapter and verse in their Bible and declaring without equivocation that some action or belief that they hold is correct due to this passage. This is clearly not the way that we should form our opinions. The scriptures were written to the author’s contemporaries and its contents need to be read within its historical context. As modern believers we must attempt to understand the Bible in this context and through the spirit of the teachings of Christ. As an example, I want to examine the term pro-life. As we do this, please keep in mind that this is in no way a comprehensive analysis of the issue, but merely a snapshot of some of the angles we might consider when forming an opinion.

The term pro-life can illicit many strong emotions, understandably.  However, many limit the purview of this topic solely to the abortion issue when it should have a broader scope.

I had a discussion with Benjamin T. Toll, a graduate student studying Church State Relations at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Benjamin made it clear that, in his opinion, this issue is not limited to abortion or the death penalty, but should also include the use of military power, the issue of poverty and healthcare. “Do we support policies that support life in our nation and through out the world? When considering our opinions about security and the lives of our soldiers, do we take into consideration the impact that our decisions have on those who have no control over their situation?” These are piercing questions that need to be wrestled with as we live out our faith.

As Christians we should oppose human trafficking with the same fervor and effort used to oppose abortion. Scripture is clear that murder is unacceptable in the sight of God, but we have a directive to care for the widow and the orphan in James 1:27. God made a strong demand of the King of Judah in Jeremiah 22:3. This directive can clearly be applied to the issue of human trafficking and abortion. Children are made into orphans the minute that they are sold into slavery and the word “oppressed” does not even begin to describe the physical, spiritual, and mental atrocities that these victims endure. There is no doubt in my mind that we should be petitioning our law makers and planning visible rallies that will bring attention to the unseen oppressed of our generation.

I urge all of you who are reading this to think about the opinions that you hold. Are they holistic? Are they supported by scripture? Are they logical and actionable? It is my prayer that we put in the necessary brainwork and time that is necessary to form the opinions that stand up to the scriptures that we hold dear, and also align with the spirit of Christ Jesus Most importantly, may we act on our opinions, transitioning them into actions that reflect Christ’s love to those that are in desperate need of hope.

I have been paired with Alex for the Production Assistant Assessment section of the project. At some point in the near future I’m going to have her organise a production meeting and book the equipment for the shoot.

Today, I worked on a research for a pitch, which is tomorrow. I tried to develop my Argyll and Montrose idea, checked basic resources available and set up tasks for the following days.

After visiting the church in person o now have confirmation that i can shoot there and interview one of their mediums. The shoot will be on the morning of the 30th of November.

Actions are a great tools to speed up your workflow.
