NOTES FROM LAST YEAR’S WINTER SOULSTICE GATHERING (2008)

Winter Solstice Gathering

Welcome to the 11 Year (2+0+0+9)!
by Michael Dove

This is a year that truly deals with our souls, going deep into hidden places and spaces in our soul and bringing it forward and out. Like a divine cleaning agent. The kind of dramas and fears that already started in 2008 will continue for a while into 2009. This year is going to be especially critical, like how we indicated that last year would be a frightening year. That sense of fear becomes more acute for many.

2009 is a graduation year and contains the energy of ascension. With that ascension, it carries what we could loosely call Judgment Day. Judgment Day and Ascension. The fear is about Judgment Day. According to the archetype, all sins are revealed. Through it all, there is an ultimate possibility of ascension. We will experience that ascension in the last fourth of the year. Leading up to that point, for many, it will feel like death. It will feel like an existential fear. We have already sensed that and it will be even more intense and acute, but it is necessary to bring things forward and out. The ability and call to calm others down and be the stable guide is going to be even more critical. If you are the one with answers, people will come to you. They will actively seek our clarity, insight, and guidance. A similar circumstance was there in 2008. It becomes much more XXX in 2009. The quality of creative, nimble ways of thinking will be more sought after.

This is the time to really dream, create, present our fully developed vision, and people will come to actualize it. That’s the nature of the opportunity, the quality of it, the atmosphere of possibility. The sense of a miracle is that it happens in a way that 4 or 5 years ago would have taken forever to get together. The quality of this is that it happens much more quickly. The task as creative, innovative leaders is to put it out there. Take advantage of the opportunity that it is and take advantage of the ascension experience and the creative actualization experience!

Part of the challenge that people will be experiencing will be the threat of disease. It’s like a crystallization of stress, fear, and old fear coming to the surface. For some, the only way for them to deal with ascension and death (leaving the body to ascend) is through fear, because that is the only frame of reference they have. The good news is that we embody the ascension and can actualize immediately. Transformation can happen spontaneously.

Especially in the second half of the year, people will experience what I call a “Cloud of Divine Possibility” that hangs over all of our heads. It becomes real to a few but enough people. It is a collection of raw ascension energy. It will get clearly defined at the end of the year, like the clarity that we had at the end of the new One Year, i.e. new politics, new reality, new era). The technology that will come will be inspired, has been ascending for a while now. It takes on a special inspiration. The true nature of interconnectedness becomes more real. The possibility of relationship and harmony – we get to see that. The sense of an “Us” and a collective leap forward is something we conceptualize as a possibility. Toward the end of the year, it becomes less frightening and becomes a new understanding. It becomes a new “destructure.”

The new intra-psychic skill of managing the dreams becomes more accessible. Being consciously aware in dreams becomes a more common mode to be. Individuals that are able to be a guide in this realm, to awaken to the dream aspect, will be a recognized thing. More people will talk about it. They will generally be individuals who are more empowered as leaders.

2009 will be the time when we collectively take charge of the dream. We take ownership of it and let it be real. As all these things occur, with great deal of drama on into the spring and summer, we will find a way to collectively ascend. When we see the drama, we can hold fast to where it is heading and not get knocked off center by it. People will be afraid, feel like they are dying. But it’s actually ascension. There will be a major force to let go. This is the sense of the duality of the path: ascension and drama. It is an emergence of a new Us that occurs. It is through this drama and sense of trauma that creates and facilitates that. We get there through this gateway.
The One Year is like an intense birth. The Eleven Year is like two One Years. It is like the One Year amplified. It is a Gateway Year. A year of Collective Birth and Ascension. Births can be very dramatic before we move through that gate. The way to get through drama is through understanding it. Labor is tedious. A dramatically new world come out of it this year and does not get clear until the very last part of the year.

Throughout the process of birth, we can be the old experienced midwife, calm and centered. That is the challenge. It will be about calming everybody else down. As a practitioner, most of people’s challenges are transformations they are experiencing. We can help them by understanding the nature of the transformation.

This is a time that was very predicted and foreseen. The drama of it is like a burning off, clearing, deep purging of fear. We will find that you and your experience will become much stronger and, paradoxically, much calmer with this time. In a sense, it’s like it is our time in terms of people exploring an alternative, non-mainstream mode. All these qualities we developed for our survival all of a sudden become the skills people are seeking. It will be a dramatic flip that occurs.

This past weekend I took a quick trip down to NYC to visit some old friends and take care of some holiday shopping. Of course, despite the tugs from my girfriend, I could not help but stop and analyze what some companies were up to as far as sponsorship and activation.

One of the moments that really pushed me to take out the camera and notepad was upon seeing a Metro PCS promotion in the Soho neighborhood of Manhattan. There was a woman dressed up in a purple Metro PCS outfit, standing on a corner outside a subway stop. Now this seems like a perfect opportunity to shout your message, right? Too bad it wasn’t working out as planned.

Even though that particular corner wasn’t the busiest citywide, the real problem was the lack of enthusiasm from the employee. The hired worker basically just stood there, not going up to anyone and looking totally non commited to her role. As we pointed out a few weeks ago in discussing the Charmin pop up in Times Square, with its outstanding engagement approach, peoples attitudes are the KEY to on street promotions. If you smile and interact with everyone that passes by, you have a much higher success rate than just standing there (Duh!).

Another two potential customers walk by, unengaged.

Now that we establshed that the Metro PCS promotional worker should have been more effective, lets take a look at who else was responsible for this quiet city corner.

While we are not sure whether this particular promotion was a result of a local store or the national headquarters, we are sure that a person in charge should make sure that everything is working! From a corporate perspective, if they are providing a promotional budget for a local store to hire this girl, shouldn’t they make sure the local store knows how to run the event properly? And from the other side, if corporate is running the promo, shouldn’t they have someone from within operating hands on when training the staff and picking a location? Either way, choosing and managing proper staff would do worlds to make this promotion more effective.

Hopefully in the future, Metro PCS and other companies with good ideas should take it a step further to make sure their plans are carried out with the same energy that was used in the creation process.

Recently, Microsoft introduced a trial version of Office for Mac 2008 and in conjunction with their vendor, Digital River, the Office for Mac 2008 package was made available in Microsoft’s Home Use Program.

Those who have purchased Office for Mac 2008 via this program would have encountered something they never have before with other versions of Office for Mac – an Activation Wizard.Yes! They’ve finally done it. Microsoft has brought their activation system to the Mac.

One inherent problem encountered by all users of this version of Office for Mac 2008 in Australia is the fact that there’s no way to get the product activated without contacting Microsoft. So, in their moment of despair after having spent a hefty sum of their hard earned cash on this product, they contact Microsoft Tech Support, only to be told that the issue needs to be “escalated” as the activation process can only be performed by Digital River.

When I faced this exact same problem, I thought to myself, why bother contacting Microsoft Tech Support? I tried getting in touch with Digital River on the hotline 1-800-284-658 instead.

After some usual “call center” processes and collecting my Order No., Product Key and Hardware fingerprint, my copy was activated. All in record time too.

So if you encounter the same problem on your Mac, you know what to do.

There are many ways to effectively help children express traumatic experiences. Play, drawing, movem

There are many ways to effectively help children express traumatic experiences. Play, drawing, movement, and of course, talk therapies are all good approaches. But what happens when an activity, intervention, or counseling session calls forth a powerful sensory memory, causing the child to become overtly anxious, tearful, hyperaroused, frightened, or speechless? We know now that these are important signs of autonomic over-activation — that stress hormones are pouring into the body and the sympathetic nervous system is in high gear. For helping professionals, these reactions may be as frightening to them as they are to the children who experience them.

On February 27th, 2010, National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children will welcome international expert Babette Rothschild, founder of Somatic Trauma Therapy, to its four-day seminar in San Antonio, TX. This is an exciting opportunity for trauma specialists to learn exactly what to do when confronted with the more difficult symptoms of acute and chronic trauma including hyperarousal and reexperiencing. A practitioner since 1976, Rothschild proposes that when stress hormones are pouring into the body that it is time to simply calm the client down. It is at this juncture that we need to not only know when to “apply the brakes,” but also to know what techniques to use.

Babette Rothschild describes applying the brakes as follows: “My logic stems from the observation that both driving and trauma therapy involve controlling something that can easily go out of control. It is not a good idea to proceed with directly addressing a traumatic incident — accelerating trauma processes in the mind and body — unless both therapist and client know how to find and apply the brakes: stop the process if it becomes too uncomfortable or destabilizing….the body is often missed in trauma treatment. On the other hand, some body-approaches neglect the importance of psychological integration. Neither aspect can be neglected. Trauma treatment must regard the whole person and integrate trauma’s impact on both body and mind” (2009).

This wisdom is based on what we now know about how the brain responds to traumatic events. In brief, one key component in the brain’s reaction to trauma is the hippocampus. This region is extremely susceptible to stress hormones that are released when the body feels threatened and a cascade of stress hormones can be stimulated by an actual event or recall of an upsetting memory at any time. If stress hormones reach a high level, they diminish the activity of the hippocampus, causing it to become non-functional. The hippocampal region is key in resolving and integrating incidents and memories; when it is compromised, the hippocampus ceases to provide important information to the cortex [the thinking part of the brain], making rational thought difficult. Suddenly, the cortex may not recognize that a traumatic event is over or no longer present, causing the individual to feel overwhelmed, confused, anxious, or fearful.

According to Rothschild, keeping the hippocampus functioning is important to successful therapy. But how is this accomplished? In sum, by keeping stress hormone levels low so that the nervous system does not go into over drive. And that is why it is critical that every trauma specialist understand how to help children “apply the brakes” during intervention. Applying the appropriate techniques not only stabilizes emotional responses, it is actually helping the hippocampus to return to its proper function as soon as possible when over-activation occurs.

Want to learn more? The National Institute for Trauma and Loss is offering its three core certification courses at this San Antonio training as well as a special presentation by Babette Rothschild on how the “body remembers trauma” and what you can do to help traumatized individuals. You do not have to register for all four courses, but if you attend all four you can obtain your Level-1 Trauma and Loss Specialist Certification by simply completing one TLC online 6-hour course and the Level-1 online exam.

Be well,

Despite Microsoft’s best efforts, Windows 7 antipiracy measures have been compromised yet again. Hackers have managed to crack the activation procedure of Windows 7 which does not even asks you to enter your product activation key for Windows 7. With this hack, users can use Windows 7 for as long as they want without having to enter any key.

The hack in question bypasses the verification .dll file by nullifying the sppcompai.dll. It will also turn off all the nagging reminder pop-ups that appears every now and then, asking you to activate your product.

Microsoft is already aware of the issue and has stated that it is working to resolve this issue. A Microsoft spokesperson stated:

” We’re aware of this workaround and are already working to address it. ” – Microsoft

This hack seems to be similar in nature to the one that appeared with Windows Vista, which later Microsoft successfully patched by releasing a security update patch via Windows Update. So it is pretty safe to bet that Microsoft would once again do the same to protect its latest OS sensation from becoming a victim of piracy.

This is not the first time Windows 7 has been hacked, a similar event took place 85 days prior to the official launch of Windows 7, courtesy of a leaked OEM DVD from a Chinese Forum.

Software piracy is a crime. By ignoring copyright law, you are misusing intellectual property of Microsoft. Lots of hard work has gone into making Windows 7 what it really is today. Windows 7 is worth the money, buy the real genuine stuff.

Our search led us to Times Square where we located the Charmin “Enjoy the Go” Pop Up on Broadway. The general idea behind the toilet paper brands space was to offer clean restrooms to the millions that flock to Times Square this time every year. This ground breaking service has been offered for the past four years and appears to be a great success.

While the main feature of the Pop Up is to provide the public with restrooms, the highlight of the area was the crew of employees that truly activated the venue. Starting with a team on the street, the Charmin brand ambassadors invited people inside with clear and energetic actions. Once you entered the building, the positive energy did not fade amongst any of the crew that led you to the restrooms, the facebook/twitter stations (where you can talk about your “go”) and even when they were taking your photo on atop the giant “throne”.

It was great to see such enthusiasm amongst a team of employees while present at a branded space. It’s also great to see how Charmin can change something as dull and monotonous as using the restroom into something exciting that people want to be a part of. Thanks for keeping us engaged!

We’ve been getting a lot of questions on licensing and renewal/upgrade lately, so I though I would answer those now.

The first thing to know is that when you purchase XLGL you get a serial number. Associated with that serial number is an expiration date. The serial number grants you the right to use any version of XLGL released up to the expiration date. It also grants you the right to access support up to the same date.

When you reach the expiration date, you can still use XLGL. The only thing that changes is that you do not have access to new release of XLGL.

You never need to pay for a particular upgrade for XLGL. Either your updates and support subscription is valid or it’s not. If it is, you can download and install at will. If not, then you need to renew.

At the moment of this writing, renewing is 199$ for 1 year of access to updates and support. This price is for one serial number, independently of the number of installation license associated with it. Whether you have a license for 1 computer or 5 computers, you pay a maximum of 199$.

Speaking of installed licenses, XLGL can be installed on one computer plus either a home computer or a laptop, for a total of two installations. Additional license can be purchased and associated with the same serial number at a discounted price (99$ right now).

After either your initial purchase or renewal, you must activate XLGL to synchronise it with our Activation Database. XLGL may ask you to activate or you can activate manually by going to XLGL > About… and clicking the Activate button.

Any other questions on licensing/activation? Please let me know.

That people today, bereft of ethics and morals, would go to great lengths to obtain pirated copies of Windows 7 was to be expected.

That Microsoft, for all of its swaggering bravado but its obviously flaccid Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) tool, cannot detect and thwart pirated copies is galling — but cynics would claim that it is but par for the course for MSFT.

What is, however, NOT ACCEPTABLE is that Microsoft has said that it would support any and all pirated copies of Windows 7 … not in anyway trying to BLOCK updates or System Packs.

Here is a good article about this unstinted support by Microsoft for PIRATED Windows 7 by ‘Tom’s Hardware.’ Please skim through it.

I have a right to bitch. I am not just an indignant, righteous spoil-sport. I have some valid skin in this game, way beyond the fact that I paid $149 for my OEM copy of Windows 7 Professional.

The Product Key-based Windows activation system used by Microsoft was THOUGHT UP BY ME … 31 years ago. Here, I created a post, with links to the US Patents database, to prove this. Check it out. So, I kind of know what I am talking about here.

That MSFT will condone Windows 7 piracy is akin to WalMart saying that henceforth it will not crackdown on shoplifting and instead will instruct its staff to provide bags and receipts for all STOLEN GOODS.

Well, here is the TWIST.

MSFT is breaking the law!

MSFT management has a fiduciary responsibility to its SHARE HOLDERS to maximize their return on investment. I contend that supporting PIRATED copies of Windows 7 violates that!

I am calling for a CLASS ACTION SUIT against MSFT for their support of pirated Windows 7.

I have already posted in Boston CraigsList trying to bring it to the attention of CA attorneys out there. On Monday, I will post in Seattle and New York. There is a GOOD CA case here.

********************

Now I suspect that the real problem here is that MSFT cannot, for all of its claims, detect pirated copies of Windows 7 — if a ‘valid’ key is typed in.

I might have to work on this! << smile >> My idea to begin with. Maybe, I need to take it to the next step. [This time, however, it will be MY patent. Not IBM's.]

But, there are other ways to really put a damper on pirated copies of Windows 7.

MSFT, better than anybody else, knows where the ISO images are being downloaded from. Of course, MSFT has folks monitoring all these ‘torrents.’

MSFT here is some FREE ADVICE from the originator of the Product Key-based activation scheme and in his youth, in the early 1970s, an original ‘hacker.’

SEED the download sites with MODIFIED Windows 7 images. Don’t do anything drastic. Just some good ‘ET Call Home’ code — really no different to what you already have in WAG, but this time around with a flag saying this copy is pirated … this is the IP. While you are at it get whatever information might be useful so that you can tell these THIEVES that you need payment of $200 for the copy of Windows 7. I don’t need to spell this out.

So that is where I sit. We need MSFT management to live up to their fiduciary responsibility.

Thank YOU.

Anura Guruge

A new award for SOTA chasers has been announced by the Summits on the Air Management Team, called the Mountain Hunter Award. It was announced today by Barry GM4TOE The SOTA Awards Manager on the reflector to complement the award recently announced for Activators (I think I missed that one!).

The ultimate award is to encourage a Chaser to Work All Associations (this does require the use of HF and is not practicable on VHF without moonbounce!) but we also wanted to encourage VHF/UHF operations and so have also introduced an award that requires qualifying contacts on 70MHz and above only. The award is NOT points based like the existing awards but relies on valid contacts between Chasers and Activators on a qualifying number of summits in a number of Associations.

It is feasible at present for a Europe based Chaser to work 24 Associations on VHF with the possibility of 7 more in the offing. We have Associations on 4 continents at present and there is the possibility of Australasia joining in the future.

Both African and Asian Associations have a rarity value so this might encourage activity from them or persuade other countries to join the scheme (Who is up for Activation from the High Atlas?). It is recognised that the VHF award is very Europe biased but it is foreseen that the USA /Canada associations will, very shortly, be able to qualify for the entry level VHF qualification. It should be noted that, although Europe does not have the 1.25m and 33cm bands, this does not prevent those countries with these bands from using them.

The inclusion of the requirement to work some intercontinental associations (for the all bands award) does make this award different from the existing Chaser awards and will run in parallel to the existing Chaser awards; by introducing the requirement (except at the entry level) to work other continents this award should encourage activators in less active associations to operate as there will be demand from chasers for the rarer associations.

a)	VHF (70MHz and above) Award

Hunter should contact at least 2 different summits in each of 5 associations using just VHF/UHF any mode.

Endorsement for UHF only qualification (430MHz and above)

Steps of 5 Associations for each award: 10, 15, 20, etc

Level/	No. Associations/ Min. no. of summits
1 /5/ 2 per association
2 /10 /3 per additional association
3 /15 /4 per additional association
4 /20+/ 4 per additional association

b)	All bands Award

Hunter should contact at least 2 different summits in each of 5 associations The higher level awards require that at least one association claimed is on a different continent from the claimant’s normal residential QTH. Level 1 can be claimed with contacts only on the claimant’s own continent (1 continent); higher level awards require intercontinental contacts.

Endorsement for all 50MHz qualification

Steps of 5 Associations for each award: 10 (including 2 continents), 15 (including 2 continents), 20 (and 3 continents),

The Award will be issued from January 2010 and summits may be claimed retrospectively (you do not have to start over; summits previously chased under the programme will qualify). Each claim must be registered on the SOTA database in the normal way and a new filter will be incorporated onto the database to track progress and allow checking of activators’ claims.

This award will be certificate based as with the Activator award however the MT would like to consider the possibility of producing a trophy for the Worked All Association award. Several suggestions have been made and we will seek input from participants to determine the level of interest in producing a suitable item.

Those who read this weblog regularly will know Summits on the Air is my main passion and while I occasionally get the chance to wander in the hills with my radios, I spend far more time running in and out of the shack at home working other activators. Today I was up earlier than I expected after working a twelve-hour night shift and no doubt I will be flagging about 3am as a result. I was up just in time to work Andy MA0FMF/P (5mHz) on a previously un-activated South Scotland summit Meall na Fearna GM/SS-035, which made it all worthwhile. Still on 5mHz I worked Walt G3NYY/P up on Hegdon Hill G/WB-023 in the Welsh Boarders and on 80 metres I got Geoff 2E0BTR/P on Bryn y Fan GW/MW-018 in Mid-Wales and Steve G1INK/P on Hoove G/NP-024 in North Pennines. That was a total of eight chaser points, which for me on a weekend is a poor show, but that was due to my working/sleeping pattern because looking at the spots page there had been 46 spots today and 90 for the weekend. Bearing in mind we are in what might be considered the SOTA doldrums, a period between the good weather and the winter bonus that does not seem too shabby.

On Saturday there were stations on from Canadian and US summits and although I never heard anything of them they created quite a stir. My buddy Mike GW0DSP managed to work one of the Canadian stations on 20m CW and was as pleased as punch to get his first VA SOTA. Richard G0IBE/P on Bredon Hill G/CE-003 managed an SSB summit-to-summit contact with K1YMI/P on Crane Mountain W2/GA-044 not bad with both stations running 5w with Richard giving 4/1 and receiving a 5/3 report in return. Lets hope the activity stirs up more interest in the Americas.

There is a worry that SOTA is becoming a victim of its own success with complaints on the reflector of the animalistic scrambles reminiscent of rare DX expeditions on the CW portion of 40 metres. Yesterday I waited patiently for the pile up to disperse in order to work an Austrian activator on 40 metres SSB, it took 45 minutes before I even bothered calling. If this had been a busy SOTA weekend I might have given up in order to work another station. As an activator I would relish the attention and I love the chance to fill the logbook but for the chaser the nice gentlemanly round of familiar call signs waiting for their turn is turning in to a bit of a melee. What somewhat worries me is that propagation is still poor, so what happens when it eventually comes good? I suspect then SOTA will hit new heights and the pile-ups will see stations closing down with callers still waiting, after all is considered you can only spend so long on a cold windy mountain.

Benefits Reported Using the CD I get extraordinary energy after a long and hard day at work – Rajesh

Benefits Reported Using the CD

I get extraordinary energy after a long and hard day at work – Rajesh

My mind gets peaceful if I feel stressed out. It is thus a good de-stressor tool for me. When I feel lethargic in the morning, it gives me the required to energy for me to get up and do my day’s work without any problem – Tom.

Before any class, this CD simply rejuvenates and prepares the students to get ready for the class, especially for a Reiki class – Shobana

My sinus gets increased if I am emotionally upset. Thanks to the CD I could handle my cold without any medication. I guess it clears up any congestion in my Chakras – Harish

(To buy the CD contact Shobana at 9884301634 (Chennai, India) or please send an email to REACHNARAN@GMAIL.COM)

Colours Effect on Chakras

Colour can offset negative stuff/situations. For example during Ragu Kalam (time) – the time when Ragu has a bad effect on us, if you wear a green dress then it can’t affect you.

Any problem in life indicates that one or more of our seven Chakras are imbalanced. Each of these Chakras emits certain colour and when there is a problem, the colour that is emitted from the Chakra will be less. This shows that the Chakra has less energy.

Let us see an example. A person weak who is weak willed and less assertive will have less energy in his Solar Plexus Chakra. If he prays to Sun God, to get the required colour Yellow and inhale it – visualizing the colour from Sun, then he can develop a strong will power.

Please refer to know on Colours effect on Chakras and Benefits Derived: http://colorhealing.wordpress.com/2009/11/08/colours-heals-chakras/

How do I know which Chakra is affected?

My life is in doldrums and how do I know which Chakra is imbalanced? You don’t have to know. Listen to the Solar Energy Meditation CD. It heals all the Chakras with least effort from your side.

How do Colour Meditation Heals the Chakras?

The relevant colour for each Chakra is generated by doing the solar energy meditation. The Chakras then gets stimulated, activated, expanded (then they can receive more energy) and balanced.

The CD is programmed to generate alpha waves to the listener. So you will go into a deep meditation automatically. Though, you need to concentrate on the words uttered in the guided meditation.

The affirmations in the CD prepare the Chakras to get ready to receive the healing energies from Sun God. You will get the colour you require for the need of the hour.

The Chakras are stimulated. Therefore, they are activated and will start performing to the optimum. Relevant colour prana is increased for each Chakra. The Chakras gets totally and fully energized. You will feel refreshed in the end.

How should I listen to the CD?

You don’t have to do anything. Sit and just listen to the CD. Your subconscious mind will follow the instructions provided in the CD.

When do I need the Colour Meditation CD?

If you are not a morning person

You get tired in the evenings

You stress out easily

You are emotional and have stress related diseases like cold, fatigue syndrome and heart disease.

You want to balance your Chakras.

You feel tired after so many night outs or night shifts and sleep during the day, but you feel lethargic.

Eat, drink Think fast and be Merry?

Okay. It’s 2:15 on the second full day of training. The trainees are antsy. Your jokes are flat-lining. People are getting Carpel Tunnel from checking their watches. You are desperate to change the mood. NO PROBLEMO!!!! Just make everybody think fast about something!

Scientific American Mind reports on six studies conducted at Harvard and Princeton that all agree: When people are required to think quickly about something, their activation level goes up and their mood becomes more positive. See how fast you can Find Waldo. Better still, see how fast you can find him with a timer ticking irritatingly in the background. Get this: Watching clips of I Love Lucy in fast forward also did the trick. Same thing with, “First one to name six dog breeds that start with the letter N wins a dollar.” Whatever. You can change the classroom dynamic in just a matter of minutes.

However, there is one big caveat. Fast and varied thinking causes elation. Fast and repetitive thinking triggers anxiety and depression and saps energy. Thinking the same thoughts over and over and over – that’s neurotic – not a good way to improve mood. And people with bi-polar disorder can become pedal-to-the-medal-manic if required to think fast. Their minds “race” (thus the pedal metaphor) and may not stop when the exercise is over.

So, to be on the safe side, get people to think fast but vary the kind of thinking involved and don’t let the exercise last more than 8-10 minutes and they’ll be fine. And, so will you.
