Megan Fox in a main role of an evil demon – when this happens, I obviously can’t think straight. I am one of the people, who adores Megan Fox, watches everything she is in, having secretly fantasies with her, hating the person Brian Austin Green for dating her (but I like him as an actor). I am one of the people who thinks she is living sex and far beyond. Am I a cliché now? Well, not when I can say that most of the projects with Megan Fox are mostly average. Transformers is still story trash (the second movie was boring), she wasn’t that funny in the 35th season opener of the NBC comedy Saturday Night Live, and even Jennifer’s Body is not really a milestone in the history of non-serious horror comedies. But Jennifer’s Body is one thing: a crappy and funny movie from the vomit scene until the end.
Cheerleader Jennifer (Megan Fox) and dorky geek Needy (Amanda Seyfried) are BFFs for years and inseparable, though they have nothing in common. After a fire in a local bar, where some high school students lost their lives, Jennifer disappears with a rock band (in which Adam Brody is the lead singer) and comes back to Needy with blood all over her body. This is the beginning of something really bloody and deathly: Jennifer mysteriously gains a lot of appetite for human blood in male high school students. As Needy finds out that Jennifer is possessed by a demon, she has to find a way to stop her friend’s bloodthirsty rampage before it reaches her own boyfriend Chip (Johnny Simmons).

One thing is for sure and everybody should know it before watching: Jennifer’s Body doesn’t take itself seriously and is just a vehicle for a hot cheerleader being possessed, killing boys, still looking sexy and having a light lesbian scene between Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox, so men’s hearts are pounding until their chests explode. The movie isn’t good for anything else. It seems that 80 per cent of the movie goers had completely different expectations, especially with Diablo Cody being responsible for the screenplay, who won an Academy Award for Juno two years back. And the only result of having different expectations is that they find Jennifer’s Body bad. But it isn’t. Seriously. And I don’t say that, because I have *insert a word* fantasies about Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried together on one bed.
The dialogs are funny as hell. Some examples? Jennifer about Needy’s breasts: “These are like smart bombs, you point them in the right direction and shit gets real.” Jennifer after being stabbed by Needy and bleeding out of the wound hole: “Got a tampon?” And, especially, after being stabbed by Needy: “Oww, my tit.” To which Needy responds: “No, your heart.” There are more example and I was laughing hilariously in most of the scenes – not only because of the funny dialogs, but some scenes were so ridiculous that it must have been on purpose to do them that shitty. But there lies the biggest problem of the movie: It doesn’t know if it wants to be a comical horror movie, a spoof of all the satanic rituals gone wrong, a funny movie with Megan Fox in it, or was it just a rip-off of Cruel Intentions (and I am only taking about the lesbian kiss scene)? Somehow the movie wants to be all of it, and this is what doesn’t let the movie work properly. At least the movie isn’t trying to be sophisticated or complex and is instead supposed to be a fun movie for the side; not important for the studio to make money with (the production only cost 16 million Dollar), not a breakthrough for all of the actors, and all in all a supposed-to-be fun project with no intentions to become a cult hit.

 The actors are clearly having fun in their roles. Megan Fox plays her sex card and shows once again her erotic side. She is the star of the movie, but her opposite part played by Amanda Seyfried holds her own. While Fox’s Jennifer doesn’t hide her sexual side and wants to have everything she can get (including the buddy-like Adam Brody, who might be a great guy to hang out with, when he is not about to sacrifice you for a demonic ritual), Seyfried’s Needy hides her beauty behind her gawky side and shows that she has
 nothing in common with Jennifer. Megan Fox took charge of her character and played with it, her acting is creative, and she even becomes a wreck when she has to be, and wanders completely outside of her sexy side. Jennifer’s friendship with Needy is completely believable, and every shitty small town somewhere in the middle of the United States’ nowhere. And Amanda Seyfried shows again that she is underrated in Hollywood and definitely can act. And Diablo Cody didn’t overwrite Needy’s goofy side, which lets everybody believe that she is not the one in high school, who doesn’t talk to people and vice versa, because she is not the ugly one in here. Johnny Simmons gives a sweet boyfriend for Seyfried, only his dying scene was way too wound up. I really had to laugh at its incredibly stupid scene, which looks like this wasn’t on purpose. This scene was the low-point of the movie.
Adam Brody had, like I said already, fun in his role. He stabs Jennifer like… a hundred times, with a smile on his face, and before the ritual he picks out the words for the ritual, which he found easily on the internet – hilarious.
Kyle Gallner makes a good stand as well, getting eaten by Jennifer, and shows like Seyfried, that he is worthy to look for in future projects.

The rest of the movie is typical basic: Jennifer’s Body is sexy, but doesn’t show much sex; Megan Fox eats people, but there isn’t much blood. Disgusting scenes are barely in the movie, at the utmost the vomiting scene might me the most disturbing scene (but this was too funny for me to be disturbing – I was mentally screaming WTF and had big eyes). Karyn Kusama’s movie is not too long, and not too short, and after her miserable Æon Flux she shows that she actually can direct a movie.
And when you don’t see the real purpose of the movie when you read the outlined plot (loser indie band tries to get fame and fortune by sacrificing a virgin to the devil, only their virgin isn’t one and transforms into a flesh eating demon) and you still expecting a clever (or trashy) horror movie, then you don’t know jack.
Jennifer’s Body is no masterpiece, but fun all the way. And I was entertained.

Honestly.  What the hell was I thinking choosing a Blackberry over an iPhone?  Why didn’t anybody tell me what I was missing out on?  If anyone out there is faced with a similar decision – Blackberry or iPhone – allow me to break it down for you: GET – THE – iPHONE!  Seriously.  I feel like someone has just introduced me to HD television after about a year and a half of entertaining myself with radio.  Following the suggestions kindly given me, I synced my MacBook with my iPhone and now I’m surfing the net and getting my emails on both.  Not only that, but I was up past midnight last night downloading apps in preparation for my upcoming Tokyo trip.  Forget my Garmin GPS, English-Japanese dictionary, guide books, hard copies of my schedule, and subway maps.  Nowe, they’re all in one handy, portable device.  Yes, my conversion is complete.  All hail, Apple!

Oh, hey, prior to heading off on hiatus, I told several cast members that I’d like them to swing by the blog and do a Q&A now that the show has finally started airing (David Blue and Brian J. Smith did one prior to the premiere and I aim to get them back for another go now that you’re all familiar with their characters).  Anyway, Peter Kelamis, who plays Adam Brody on SGU, checked in with me the other day, dropping me an email on an unrelated topic – and has found himself officially corralled.  SO, if you’ve got questions for actor/comedian/pet psychic/t.v. scientist, start posting.  I’ll be gathering them up through Monday.  What was it like working on the first year of Stargate: Universe?  Where would he like to see his character go (provided we haven’t killed him off yet) next year?  Which is his favorite sandwich off crafts service and why do they serve up those little baby carrots?  I mean, come on.  It’s not as if anybody actually eats them!

Also, while perusing my backlog of photos, I came across a batch I snapped during the Time shoot.  As you know, the creatures used are underwater denizens from the deep, deep depths of the Pacific Ocean and, while deadly, can be docile given the right conditions: while sleeping, drugged, or dead.  So our resident monster wrangler, Evil Kenny Gibbs showed up with one for a little show-and-tell and, well, things got a little out of hand…

Pleased to see that the response to Time has been overwhelmingly positive.  I’ll weigh in with further thoughts after the episode airs in the U.K.

I just finished watching the movies.
LEIF is definitely one of my favorite swedish comedy movies from the 80’s.
It has everything!
Funny songs, the greatest car chase ever,
memorable quotes, great characters, EVERYTHING!
For those who’ve never seen it,
it’s the first movie by the comedy sketch groups Galenskaparna & After Shave
and it’s about a company that sells illegal cannons and weapons.
One day there’s someone named Leif that has written an article in the newspaper
revealing all the secrets about the company, so Gunnar(director of the company)
and the rest of his employees tries to find this Leif guy,
while being hunted by the cops.
My favorite scene is when they’re going to name their kid
and the priest can’t remember what names Gunnar and Doris chose,
so Gunnar gives him a note, which accidentally is his checklist,
so the kid ends up being named Milk Loaf Raisin.

It’s probably the best skate movie out there,
if you’re like me and easily impressed by every little trick.
It’s about four guys; Eric(Mike Vogel), Matt(Vince Vieluf), Dustin(Adam Brody)
and Sweet Lou(Joey Kern), who decide they’re going to
follow their favorite skater Jimmy Wilson on his tour around the country.
While on their way from city to city, they experience all kinds of stuff,
their van breaks down, a chick steals the van, get kicked out of a party,
not getting to skate demos ’cause they’re not signed up etc. etc.
This movie is HiGHlarious!
You can’t do nothing but love Vince Vieluf’s character
and his constant fights with Adam Brody’s.
Besides the movie’s amazing soundtrack there’s also
a huge plus for the fact that the swedish band Blindside is in it.

Morro de saudades de The O.C, já vi pelo menos 3 vezes todas as temporadas…Vou postar alguns picspam do Seth e da Summer, que pra mim, eram os melhores!

Today I had the delight of watching the famed ‘Jennifer’s Body,‘ which ideally focuses on many controversial concepts which include subjects such as; Satanic worship, torture, mutilation, demonology and lesbianism. Oh, well, sounds like everyone’s first day of the summer break, right? No, of course not. This appeared to be apparent as Box Office sales didn’t exceed more than $19 million with its $16 million budget at hand and scoring particularly badly among critics.

I’ll dive right in to the pool of blood and bad attempts of comedy left behind by the film’s oh so apparent success among younger viewers, which was also dubbed ‘Twilight for boys‘ by acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert, who enjoyed the film. To be fair to Jennifer’s Body, it wasn’t an entirely bad film, it was indeed an interesting and original plot, however it could have been tackled far better by Diablo Cody who, to be honest, had her heart set on the film, but not necessarily all of her head. Fox’s acting was adequate at best, which significantly contrasted against Seyfried’s, who I have to admit, was surprising to say the least. Brody was also rather convincing as a slick-haired, satanic worshipping lead singer, which one wouldn’t have envisioned from his performances on ‘The OC.’

Roger Ebert was correct in saying that Jennifer’s Body is Twilight for boys, I mean how many women out there are prepared to sit through 102 minutes of blood-dripping, body-dismembering, scantily-dressed-cheerleading? Well, I’d imagine a few. It’s like Twilight in the same sense that every female in the world would go to see it because of the actor’s portrayal of the protagonist, who beyond all disbelief is Megan Fox, most men’s favourite young actress of the year.. or four. It’s also like Twilight in the sense that it’s completely and utterly successful beyond ever imagined. Oh wait a second…

Jennifer’s Body, overall, isn’t great. If you enjoy cheap thrills, then hey, be my guest. However, as the analysis goes; the acting is poor, the satirical side of it fails to achieve what it’s designed for, and probably the best part of it was the ending where I had a sigh of relief that I didn’t have to watch any more of what I thought would be a crazily good film. Unfortunately, it isn’t.  Despite a few occasional moments in the script, kudos to Cody for those, the film really can’t take off as what it’s supposed to be, comedy, slasher, horror or a film about female empowerment and it’s not like any other teen horror movie out there, for starters this one has some degree of a plot line, but it’s still not really worth the money of a cinema trip. Sorry folks. Oh and this poster is blatantly a rip of True Blood.

I just saw this film which is from the award-winning writer of Juno which is a very good film. The film is directed by Karyn Kusama and stars Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody and Johnny Simmons.

Megan Fox plays the main role as ‘Jennifer’ who is a teenage serial killer and Amanda Seyfried is trying to stop her.

The film has some very funny moments but still manages to be creepy, dark  and brilliant in parts. The film makes you think that theres more to the characters personalities than there actually is.

Overall this film is jumpy, creepy and has some real funny moments.

Film Rating: 7/10

Katie Holmes es el recambio de Liv Tyler en ‘The Romantics’, una comedia de corte independiente que iba a protagonizar la hija del cantante de Aerosmith, que finalmente ha decidido abandonar el proyecto para regocijo de la mujer de Tom Cruise.

Tras el avandono de Tyler, la vacante ha sido cubierta por Holmes, quien dará a vida a Laura, la dama de honor en la boda de su mejor amiga, Lila. Además de la esposa de Cruise, ‘The Romantics’ contará con otros rostros conocidos como Anna Paquin (X-Men), Josh Duhamel (‘Transformers’), Elijah Wood (‘El Señor de los Anillos’) Malin Akerman (‘Watchmen’), Adam Brody (‘Entre mujeres’) o Jeremy Strong (‘El incidente’).

Escrita y dirigida por Galt Niederhoffer, autor también de la novela en la que se basa la historia, ‘The Romantics’ relata en clave de comedia el curioso reencuentro de ocho viejos amigos del instituto que se reúnen para celebrar la boda de uno de ellos. Una reunión que tenía que ser feliz pero que pronto se verá empañada por las crecientes tensiones entre los amigos, especialmente entre la novia (Paquin) y la dama de honor (Holmes).

La cinta, según apunta una información publicada por ‘Variety’, comenzará a rodarse esta misma semana en Nueva York y supondrá el debut de Holmes como productora. La mujer de Tom Cruise tiene todavía dos películas pendientes de estreno: ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ y ‘The Extra Man’.

Jennifer’s Body has been taking a pounding from critics. Poor Jennifer. Maybe I’m a lone voice in the wilderness on this one, but I really enjoyed it. Diablo Cody’s latest is one of those smart but trashy future cult hit films. It’s not an Oscar winning biopic (thank god). It’s not jam-packed with explosions and state of the art CGI (thank god). Nor yet is it yet another identikit Sundance indie flick commissioned by execs hungry for a piece of the Little Miss Sunshine pie (god again working overtime here, cheers). It’s a lot of fun, if cheesy in places. Review below the trailer.

Jennifer (Megan Fox) is evil. Not just high-school evil, but evil-evil. Can her BFF stop her before she chows down on half the school’s population?

As the poster proclaims: hell yes. For fans of Heathers, Mean Girls and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, here’s a tasty morsel of a high school comedy horror that puts girls in the driving seat and boys on the menu. If this doesn’t appeal to you as a concept, stop reading now. There are dozens of reviews of Jennifer’s Body already out there that have failed to see the delicious appeal of such a film. Go read them, and revel in the Diablo Cody backlash (a backlash against a funny, successful woman? Surely not…). Alternatively, if you’re of the opinion than Megan Fox as demonic man-eater and the ever-awesome Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Veronica Mars, Chloe) nerding up as The One Person In This Crazy Town Who Knows The Truth, plus Adam Brody (The OC) as a complete penis of an emo band frontman, sounds completely fabulous, read on.

It can surely only be the genre that has American critics twice the age of the film’s protagonists wearily dismissing Cody’s “slanguage-laden”, “glib teen-hip dialogue” as “self-conscious splatter over a sorely lacklustre scare flick” where they loftily praised Juno as having “introduced a writer with a fresh point of view about young people in today’s world.” You see, Miss Cody, it’s okay to mash language into grammarian-baiting new slang in the context of a wiseass Sundance smash teen pregnancy indie flick, but if you do it in a comedy horror, you’re just running after the self-referential horror bandwagon long after it’s been carted off to the junkyard and melted down for parts.

To borrow a Diablo Cody phrase, this is “freaktarded” – the considerably less twee Jennifer’s Body has easily as many angles on teen living as Juno, and it is pure genre-prejudice to believe that a film featuring demonic rites, sacrifice and supernatural terror is inherently inferior to a more “real” treatment of adolescence. So, what’s the appeal of Jennifer’s Body?

Jennifer’s Body joins a very small number of horror movies where hero and villain are both female and both proper, believable characters. We’ve all met Jennifer: the girl who zeroes in on her selected male target, blasts him into submission and devours his soul. In Jennifer’s case this is literally so, and it’s a lot of fun to watch Fox, beautifully sending up her own ‘FHM’ image, cannibalise a gamut of high school stereotypes: nervous Asian guy, football jock, and the fey emo kid – in Jennifer’s words, “He’s into maggot rock. He wears nail polish. My dick is bigger than his.”

Probably because the studio was after a 15 certificate, we don’t actually see too much blood, this being more high-school comedy than gorefest, but the inventive descriptions make up for it: apparently one of Jennifer’s victims looked like “lasagne with teeth” when he was found. The most monstrous thing in the film is in fact Adam Brody’s indie frontman, leader of dire band Low Shoulder who are to blame for Jennifer’s demonic state. Intent on sacrificing a virgin, they make just one crucial error – she’s no virgin, which has unfortunate occult consequences. Why would an MOR emo act want to sacrifice a virgin, traditionally the province of death metal? Why, to further their careers of course – as Brody puts it to a reluctant bandmate: “Do you want to be rich and awesome, like that guy from Maroon 5?” Killing virgins in order to emulate Maroon 5 surely ranks higher in the catalogue of evil than practically any other act.

None of this, fun as it is, would be worth much without such a winning heroine, but Amanda Seyfried is simply yummy as Anita “Needy” Lesnicki, the put-upon geek and unlikely best friend to Jennifer’s cheerleader queen. The relationship is not an equal one. Although Needy tries to convince herself that “sandbox love never dies”, these days she’s more likely to find herself on the end of a stream of invective from her BFF: “Please don’t talk to yourself; it’s one of your more freakish needy behaviours and it makes us both look like total gaylords.” And that’s pre-demon Jennifer talking.

Jennifer’s Body has more to say about the dynamics of teenaged female friendship, sexual power games and the trials of adolescence than many a more self-consciously worthy film, but even without this uplifting backbone it would still be an above averagely entertaining night at the cinema. Unleash your inner teen queen bitch and enjoy a dose of pure fun: the cult following starts here.

Verdict:
At last, a film for girls (and right-minded boys) that cuts out Bridget Jones-style whinging about wobbly thighs, dispenses with obsessive Jane Austen husband-seeking and completely ignores the naff materialism of ‘Sex And The City’ in favour of a funny fable about high-school friendship and sexual awakening.
