SCIFIWire has a cool interview with the writer/director behind the Night of the Demons remake, Adam Gierasch. It seems that he was a little worried about doing a remake; he says, “[I was worried] that people were going to hate me. I do look at the Internet message boards, and they do hurt my feelings, and I know in a lot of ways it’s a lose-lose situation. But if I could put f–king punk rock, demon buttf–king and have the ultimate Halloween party movie, then I would be happy, and I did that. So I just tried to please myself more than please others.”

The original Night of the Demons wasn’t that great so if he’s turning out a decent movie I’m down with it.

Plus he had me at “demon buttf–king.”

The Haunting of Molly Hartley). Le sigue Robert T-1000 Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Double Dragon,The Faculty), Jenette Goldstein (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Lethal Weapon 2, Aliens), la tambien bella Ashley Schneider (Stupid Teenagers Must Die!, The House Bunny, Extreme Movie) y Michael Bowen (Walking Tall, Kill Bill: Vol. 1, Magnolia).

Puntaje: 7/10

A group of friends at Mardi Gras get into a car accident and wind up at a local hospital where they find a doctor performing some unorthodox experiments.

Directed by – Adam Gierasch

Written by – Adam Gierasch, Jace Anderson, E. L. Katz

Starring – Jessica Lowndes, Michael Bowen, Robert Patrick, Jenette Goldstein, Ashley Schneider, Robert LaSardo, Arcadiy Golubovich, Ross Kohn, Ross McCall, Janine Venable

Another in the After Dark Horrorfest series and sadly another disappointment. This movie made me realize that I’m becoming jaded after having seen so many films in the last few months. Normally I would have enjoyed this one. It’s chock full of jump scares and some really gory stuff but after so many horror movies lately I’m finding it hard to enjoy some of the simpler ones.

The story is really almost non-existent. The creepy doctor’s, played by Robert Patrick, wife has cancer but is getting better through an experimental treatment. It’s not too hard to see that the treatment is probably going to involve the death of our group of teens. The acting isn’t bad but it’s nothing to write home about and I really wanted more from the story itself. I’ll give them credit though there’s plenty of scares in this one, my girlfriend can attest to that one as I watched her jump numerous times and some of the gore is truly over the top. There’s one scene towards the end that was quite impressive along with a few others throughout the movie. Is it too much to ask that some great horror be accompanied by a great story as well?

As far as this one goes I would recommend it to the horror hounds out there. It’s got plenty of things going for it as far as gore and it should make some of your friends soil themselves in fright. Just don’t visit this hospital if you’re looking for great character development or an interesting storyline.

This is not a remake of the 1975 Italian horror film “AUTOPSY”. This is one of the films

This is not a remake of the 1975 Italian horror film “AUTOPSY”. This is one of the films from the 3rd year of “8 Films to Die For” part of the After Dark Horrorfest. Starts out typical enough, with five attractive 20 somethings partying it up in New Orleans. Now, what they get right is this part of the film is extremely short, and is in fact just snaps shots shown during the credits. Too many horror films fail to create a group of people you might care about, making
their deaths later in the film that much more horrifying. If you can’t do this, than just get to the point already! There is nothing I find more annoying than having to watch 20 minutes of stupid people doing dumbass things and having incoherent conversations. By the time the action starts I can’t wait for them to die. This film gets right down to business and scores points right off the bat. The group get into an accident and much to their suprise find that they have hit a pedestrian. An ambulance shows up immediately and the emergency workers explain to the kids that it was not a pedestrian they hit but an escaped patient woozy from sedation. They suggest the banged up group come along so that they can be examined. Okay, so most of us would agree to go along. They don’t have a working vehicle now and they were in an accident after all. Enter Mercy Hospital. This is where the story really starts so I won’t go on from here in any detail. The head physician is Dr. Benway played by Robert Patrick. Patrick’s delivery is pretty wooden but not completely ineffective. It would have been more fun if he had played it a little more over the top though. The head nurse is played by Jenette Goldstein who played diamondback in Near Dark. It was good to see her in a horror film again and her character was interesting but also seemed a little too restrained. The hospital staff is rounded out by Michael Bowen and Robert LaSardo, two dastardly bastards playing bad ass orderlies. The story is a little patchy which is the films fatal flaw. Dr. Benway’s motives are explained to some extent but he does a lot of things that don’t make any sense in regards to achieving his final goal. Okay, he is suppose to be completely mad so you can buy some of the insanity. The main problem I had was the whole supernatural thread they ran through the story line. It appeared that people were coming back from the dead and there were random people walking aimlessly throughout the hospital. This made no sense at all to the plot and is never explained. And I would have ended it about 30 seconds sooner. With that said, I actually didn’t mind this film. There are some unique moments of grossness that are WAY over the top!! For a film with a relatively low body count there is a lot of gore. There are also a couple of very weird little scenes that are pretty damn amusing. To some extent I felt like I seen this film before but it was still pretty watchable.
