The weekend is here and it’s time for hockey! Some good matches going on around the state this weekend, but sort of slim pickings on Friday night so I’ll propose some other options.

This is one of two high school games going on in the state on Friday night. Both teams are having miserable seasons and look to show signs of improvement

Although league standings may not show it, I expect Carmel Gold to take this game with little difficulty.

Purdue v. Robert Morris College-Peoria

A recently reviewed Purdue takes on RMCP. Both squads seek to improve their records with the hope they’ll make the National Tournament

Komets v. Quad City Mallards
@ Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, 8 pm
I’m pretty sure this game violates the Geneva Convention as the beating the Mallards are going to take will be a crime against humanity. Although the same can be said about their play this season.

Bonus
So there isn’t a lot of hockey going on this Friday. I’ve decided to offer some suggestions for those wanting something hockey-related but cannot get to it.
- I’m currently in the process of watching the CBC documentary series, Hockey: A Peoples History. It’s worth a watch and if you can’t find it nearby, there’s always bittorrent.
- Tonight the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the top-ranked Miami Redhawks at 7:35 in Oxford. The audio can be found here. If I find a stream I’ll post it.
-If you have a PS3 or XBOX, NHL 10 is one of the best sports video games ever made. Always a great way to spend a night.
-If you don’t have a PS3 or XBOX, there’s always nhl94online.com.

Evansville and Carmel Gold are near each other in the standings. Hopefully this parity will lead to a close game.

GAME OF THE WEEK
GotW honors go to Munster v. Carmel Gold. Both teams look fantastic and if you can get up in time for the 10 am start, you will be rewarded with great high school hockey.

About two months ago I was talking to a friend about how lame blogs were and questioning why anyone would care to write one or follow one and I think I ended the statement with, “Get a life, you blogging losers.”

So…I come to you as a hypocrite, a loser, a nerd. Now let’s get on with it.

The main reason I wanted to write something was as a follow-up to anyone who listened to the first podcast. Here are some things that were either missing or should have been explained better.

The pants in question.

-I spoke of two different musicians without giving them credit. The guy that spoke to Ryan Adams was Drew Holcomb, who is a Memphis native that now lives in Nashville. The band leader that forced my friend to wear black during all shows was Eldorado del Ray of the band Eldorado and the Ruckus. Both of these musicians can be found on iTunes.

-We started the conversation of “who is the most famous person you have ever met” and for some reason moved on to something else without talking about mine. I will try to bring this back up in the 3rd or 4th podcast and I promise it will be better than Justin’s maybe having accidentally bumped into a guy that looked similar to Slash or seeing Sammy Hagar at a distance.

-When I was talking about Adam Sandler I said something about a polar bear…I think I meant penguin.

- Justin said I was wearing burlap pants covered in paint. I never corrected him and many of you guys were probably thinking something along the lines of “I bet his balls itch.” Well, actually I was wearing the same pants I wear every single day, which are Dickies. To use an expression from the podcast, they are the poor man’s Carharts. I used to only wear Carharts but I outgrew them because in one year I managed to gain 25 pounds (which is okay seeing as I weighed 135 lbs. from 9th grade until the age of 29) and they are expensive pants to have to keep buying. Now I exclusively buy Dickies from Wal-Mart for $15. Hey, Mike Rowe wears them, and I would say he is only slightly more successful than me.

-Finally, in the short bio on the right side of the page, Justin calls me a “writer.” While I guess I am technically a “blogger” now, I’m not sure that counts. And though I have actually written two full length novels that have never been published, I’m not sure that counts either. Just because a hundred literary agents have looked at my manuscripts and sent me rejection letters, I’m not sure I qualify. Remember in the movie “Seven” when they found all of Kevin Spacey’s journals filled with tiny writing and there were just pages and pages? Well, I’m really no better than him.

I know what you’re saying to yourself right now: “You know what the world needs? Another rambling, nonsensical podcast from two dudes I don’t know.”

This is our first episode, recorded in Memphis, TN over the 2009 Thanksgiving holiday. The genesis of this genius, relevant and thoughtful blog/podcast goes something like this: my cousin Michael suggested we host a podcast. Topics would include anything and everything. Looking for a way to pass the time between heaping plates of Thanksgiving leftovers, I said sure.

And with that, “S’up Cuz?” was born.

At least they're not Hannah Montana posters.

A few thoughts on our maiden podcasting voyage:

1. We need a fact checker/producer.

2. Vague pop culture references seem to work for us.

3. I need to plug my live karaoke band more.

The discussion topics range from the manliness of office decor (specifically Michael’s Lucero poster collection seen to the right) to poser Rush fans, graduation gifts, first jobs and Burt Reynolds, with stories of Slash and Ryan Adams sprinkled in there for good measure.

The Atlantic City Police Department’s K-9 unit is mourning the loss of one of their own and looking to the future.

“It’s a partnership like no other,” Captain James Pasquale, Commander of the Atlantic City Police Department’s K-9 unit explains, saying one of his fellow officers, 5-year-old Dak, will be sadly missed. “We go to work with them, every night we take them home, they’re not just K-9 partners, but they’re also family members.”

Pasquale trained Dak back in 2006. He explains that for the past 3 years Dak has been faithfully protecting his partner, K-9 Officer George Adams and protecting the community until losing his battle with cancer last week. “It’s a tremendous loss to the department, to the city and entire K-9 world, Dak was an amazing, amazing dog.”

Throughout his short career, Dak won dozens of awards and trophies at various competitions. “Back in 2008, in National’s where hundreds of the best police dogs throughout the country, he finished in the top 10.”

Just this past September, Dak won the overall competition in the Region 6 Police Dog 1 Trials. “That is an absolute amazing achievement.”

Dak’s latest victory came just after the city’s mayor, Lorenzo Langford pulled Dak and the 18 other police dogs from active duty, pending the outcome of an investigation over alleged police brutality involving K-9 units.

The mayor later re-established only narcotic and explosive detecting K-9’s but Pasquale says Dak’s achievements are proof of how important the K-9 units are to the city. “It’s a testament of the training we do, we’ve been doing it for many, many years and also a testament to and especially to K-9 Officer Adam’s who’s heart and soul is in K-9.”

Although Dak will be sadly missed, the hope of the Atlantic City Police Department is to move forward and get all K-9 units back on the streets. “We have a K-9 patrol class commencing in January through the Atlantic County John Sonny Burke K-9 Academy and our every intention is to have Officer Adams train another partner.”

The K-9 Unit is currently cross training 4 patrol dogs for narcotics and explosives detection and once the mayor’s investigation is complete, the K-9 Unit hopefully will add another faithful member to the team.

ObamaCare Will Impose Massive Healthcare Rationing on Senior Citizens

It is time to cut through the deceptions and bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo about ObamaCare.

If either the House Bill (H.R. 3962) or the Senate Bill (S. 1796) is enacted into law, ObamaCare will be paid for on the backs of senior citizens.

The president already has widely advertised his “cut-Medicare-first” strategy to pay for ObamaCare by proposing to cut $500 billion out of the program, which both the House and Senate Bills adopt. These cuts are slated to come primarily out of Medicare Advantage Plans, which currently provide 10 million seniors a wide range of private insurance choices.

What the president hasn’t told the public about, however, are the far greater Medicare cuts that seniors will experience at the hands of the Medicare Commission (Senate version) or the Medicare Center (House version), which will be used to ration healthcare by allowing bureaucrats to determine which senior citizens can receive what health treatments, services, procedures, medications, devices and so forth.

The State of Washington already tried this kind of bureaucratic healthcare rationing back in 2003 to control the cost of its state-run healthcare plan. The Wall Street Journal describes how it works:

“So far, the [Washington] commission has banned knee arthroscopy for osteoarthritis, discography for chronic back pain, and implantable infusion pumps for pain not related to cancer. This year, it is targeting such frivolous luxuries as knee replacements, spinal cord stimulation, a specialized autism therapy and MRIs of the abdomen, pelvis or breasts for cancer. It will also rule on routine ultrasounds for pregnancy, which have a ‘high’ efficacy but also a ‘high’ cost.

The State of Oregon has a similar bureaucracy to ration healthcare to control the costs of its state-run healthcare system. It is a veritable death panel. For example, in 2008 Oregon bureaucrats decided the some cancer patients seeking chemotherapy didn’t “qualify” for the treatment because the patients didn’t score high enough on Oregon’s bureaucratic criteria—sick Oregonians have ceased to be persons and are now simply “negative economic units.” Although Oregon denied the cancer patients’ chemotherapy claims, the State offered instead to pay for physician-assisted suicide, a chilling corruption of medical ethics.

Hippocratic Oath

The Senate ObamaCare Bill goes even further to squeeze the life out of senior citizens. It actually establishes a “global budget” for Medicare expenditures, which would force bureaucrats on the commission to ration healthcare to stay within the spending limits. It will work this way. The Medicare Commission—to be comprised of 15 members appointed by the President—will have to ration healthcare to keep Medicare expenditures from growing more rapidly per Medicare enrollee than inflation; after 2019, Medicare benefits would have to be rationed even more to keep government expenditures from growing faster than the economy plus one percentage point, regardless of the inflation rate.

WE DON’T NEED ANOTHER HERO!

This is nothing more than a scheme to squeeze the life out of Medicare and the senior citizens enrolled in the program. The Senate Bill doesn’t contain death panels; it doesn’t need them. The Medicare Commission’s global budget will deliver the coup de grâce without counsel or notification.

No healthcare for you, old one.

As the Wall Street Journal explained the Senate version of the Medicare Commission:

“The hard budget cap means there is only so much money to be divvied up for care, with no account for demographic changes, such as longer life spans, or for the increasing incidence of diabetes, heart disease and other chronic conditions.
“Worse, it makes little room for medical innovations. The commission is mandated to go after ‘sources of excess cost growth,’ meaning treatments that are too expensive or whose coverage will boost spending. If researchers find a pricey treatment for Alzheimer’s in 2020, that might be banned because it would add new costs and bust the global budget. Or it might decide that ‘Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller,’ as President Obama put it in June.”

If ObamaCare is enacted into law, it will put seniors out in the cold and into an early grave.

OK, so most NFL fans are aware of the fact that Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams was fined yesterday morning by NFL Commish Roger Goodell. Now, Bud Adams is 86 years of age and was fined 250,000 dollars by Goodell for giving the bird to Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson, who is 91 years of age. Now 250,000 dollars is the third largest fine ever given out by the NFL. The first being a 1 million dollar fine to former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo in 1999 and the second being Bill Belichick (Still love you) 500,000 dollar fine. Now, am I the only one that finds this ridiculous? I mean, how are you going to fine an 86 year old man 250,000 dollars for flicking off a 91 year old man? Now I know they are both owners and that money is not a concern for either of them but I find the whole situation hilarious. I mean, I would be pumped if the owner of my beloved team would show the same enthusiasm and passion for a win as Bud Adams showed. My only argument relates to the amount of the fine. I mean, really? 250,000 dollars? It seems even more crazy when Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tommy Harris gets fined only 7,500 dollars for punching his oppenent while on the ground. I mean thank God Ed Hochuli was there to run shit. But ya what do I know, you watch and tell me which incident is worth the 250,000 dollar fine.

Again I’m going to go with the Indiana Ice due solely to their promotions. On Friday night they’re selling Bud Light for $2. Anyone will know this is not a good idea. Worth coming out to see if a hockey game does, in fact, break out in Indianapolis’ largest bar.

police should arrest and bring who they think are criminals before the courts. Mi just see a police man search a school boy in HWT and confiscated the boy’s CD and say boy go on a school before mi box you down, well the last time I checked, having a CD is not illegal, the police dont know what on it suppose it was the boy’s school work or whatever for that matter. and yesterday I saw police and soldiers beat a man till his foot was broken because they stopped him and he didnt stop. I dream then day when the criminals start killing police, because police always terrorise innocent people. I know of police firing and shooting kids, they even kill people brushing them teeth with tooth brush in them hand.

People? Wake up. Adams is innocent until proven guilty but that is NOT enough and is NOT the only standard to be applied for a post such as Police Commissioner. It is a VERY high post. Let me make two points:
1. There was forensic evidence in the Braeton 7 case. That evidence does NOT support the Police’s description of what happened. In layperson terms? the scientific evidence suggests the cops were lying.

2. There were eye witness accounts in the same incident suggesting MURDER and gross misconduct on the part of the Police.

3. The forensic evidence does not PROVE these eyewitness accounts to be true, BUT the reports suggest that witness accounts are ‘more plausible’ than the police’s story. This is while it suggested that the police account was virtually impossible.

4. Specific aspects of witness accounts are even more worrying to me. The suggestion that two people were TAKEN into the house and executed by police is a HIGHER cause for concern. Even if my conscience allows me to turn a blind eye on the 5 killings in the house of people who killed the principal? The inclusion of the two others CROSSES A LINE and escalates the police act to SERIAL KILLING, with no JUST criteria.

5. There no JUSTICE in the taking of those 2 lives. Again? The scientific evidence does not PROVE this witness account to be true, but suggests that the police are NOT telling the truth. The police’s actions were called into question.

6. In the CRAWL (MAY PEN) incident, forensic evidence also suggested misconduct. However, one new fact was particularly worrying. Evidence suggested that at about 5am in the morning, a member of the police force contacted a particular Kingston businessman (commonly believed to have criminal connections) and acquired an illegal firearm to be used as ‘evidence’ in the case. The problem: HOW WELL DOES A TOP CRIMEFIGHTER HAVE TO KNOW A SHADY BUSINESSMAN to call him at 5am and make such a request? Just the suggestion that this link exists makes me VERY uncomfortable. There is insufficent HARD EVIDENCE to back up this particular last point, so will not take it much further.

THE CONCLUSION:
A Police Commisioner should be ABOVE REPROACH. The mere fact that there are so many unanswered questions in these two incidents alone, makes adams ineligable for that post, in the same way that a lawyer facing such claims could never dream to be appointed a high court judge. Another example is where a bank clerk is asked to leave a post, because he is suspected to have commited fraud/theft. Until evidence PROVES he did NOT do the act, his employer must act with caution.

Adams became Commissioner in 2010. Blood flowed through the streets waist high. Sabotaged by a court system that failed to properly prosecute those indicted, Adams constructed his own court in the streets. Adams became the law, the judge was a woman named M16 (rumor has it Adams has been sleeping with her for the past 41 years). Recently M16 got mad when she found out Adams was cheating on her with Glock and started handing out death sentences left right and center… Jamaica started to look like Gaza literally…
