after installing a new google chrome, with latest version of google chrome, I decided to install some of google chrome extension. just like firefox that already made some extensions called add ons, google chrome came out with a lot of stuff that make this browser more powerful.

Here we go,,

first thing I did to my chrome was installing a new theme. you can find it through searching on google, or accessing tools.google.com/chrome. there are many themes you can choose. but, you only can install a theme for your google chrome browser. I install Tiësto created by tiesto.com for my google chrome.

after installing a theme, I looked up for available extensions. you can access the site through new tab, and look a link in the bottom. it has yellow color as background and sentences that google has extensions and bookmark sync. just click the extensions link, and you will directed to chrome extensions(beta) website.

you can choose the extensions that you want based on the most popular, most recent, top rated, and featured.

the most popular extensions is Google Mail Checker. dont install it, unless you have a gmail account. but, I have gmail accounts, and I didnt interested with this extension, since it only show the unread messages.

after the Google Mail Checker are AdThawrt and Google translate. I’ve installed this two extensions. but, I still not get the functionality of AdThawrt and Google Translate yet. I dunno, am I unaware about ads from website, or something else, but I think this extensions will be really useful in next days. How about Google translate?? same as Adthawrt, I haven’t use this extension yet. I think, this will really useful if we browse some website that we don’t familiar with the language.. As far as I know, this extension work like google translate web did. it will translate entire website language to the language that we choose. of course, the result still need more amelioration coz the structure between our language and others language are really different. Must have extension.

next extensions are social networking tools. here are several tools I have installed, Chromed Bird, Facebook for Google Chrome and PlurkMate.

Chromed Bird is a Twitter extension that allows you to follow your timelines and interact with your Twitter account. this extensions will show up an fancy popup in ur browser. this popup is not really annoying, since it will quickly disappear after you click outside chromed bird area. this extensions button show up beside the address bar. here are the features of chromed bird : follow your timeline, and navigate through tweets, compose, reply, RT, share, fave, and delete tweets, create short URLs,track read/unread tweets, and notify user about new tweets. Must have extension.

Facebook for Google Chrome. This Extension lets you read your Facebook news feed and wall. You can also post status updates. this extension will place it button beside address bar, and will show a popup after you click the button. no notification will appear, doesn’t like chrome bird that notify new tweets. really simple extension to update your and friends status.this extension is auto activated (connected) to your facebook account.  Must have extension.

 Facebook for Google Chrome

PlurkMate. this extension allows you Post new messages from popup and displays the number of unread messages in your Plurk. unfortunately, this extension only allows you to update your status and notify new plurk updates from your friends. nothing more you can do. You may install this extension if you just need to update your plurk status. to activate this extension, you need access the extension option from Chrome’s Tool – extensions.

another not yet reviewed extensions are Aviary and AdBlock.

I’ve tried the AdBlock. AdBlock will removes Facebook ads, Flash animations, and ads from all over the web. but dont worry, you still can access youtube and watch the movie.. (Is youtube using FLash?? LoL). with this extensions, you will see no ads in your facebook page. How about detik.com?? NO ADS will show up while you browsing and read the news. really usefull extension. I think that make the site loading faster than usual..Must have extension.

Aviary Allows you take a screenshot of any webpage and edit it directly in your browser with Aviary.com applications. Plus convenient access to the Aviary website and tools. its also a powerful extensions if you like to save webpage into image. with this extension, you will able to edit the webpage image captured first before you save it to your desktop. the disadvantage of this extension is you will direct first to aviary.com before you can save the image. this doesn’t like screenshot addons that work in firefox, which can easily save the captured webpages.

I’ve been using Google’s browser since the announcement, when you had to grab Chromium build from the repository. Currently I am on a developers build of Chrome. It only became by primary browser when the first adblocking user script became available: AdSweep. Google’s primary business being serving ads, I did not think they would allow something like this to happen, but I was happy to be proven wrong. And since announcement of official Chrome extensions, there are quite a few now available. I couldn’t decide which one to use, so I decided to test them. How? Opening websites and see how well they do. In this case I decided to try Yahoo!, MSN, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Engadget.

Before I start, let’s get this straight: none of the adblockers actually… block ads. They hide them. Which is fine for most people who just don’t want to see the ads, but if you are worried about using bandwidth… well, you have to think about using proxy blocking solutions. Or Firefox! Why can’t these adblockers stop ads from loading completely? Some say it’s Chrome not providing enough API hooks to do this (but apparently they are working on it), some say it’s WebKit that doesn’t allow this to happen (yet there is Safari Adblock)

I have tested: AdThwart 0.3.1 (2nd most popular extension), AdBlock 1.1.54 (10th most popular) and AdBlock+ 1.1.9.10.

1) AdThwart – blocked all the ads

Positive: All the ads were blocked. Can add customized filters in options. Can be easily turned off for a particular website by clicking on the devil icon in the address bar. Good hiding speed, although sometimes you can still see an add appear for a split second.

Negative: Blocked MySpace music advertisement on the front page leaving a huge white box. No way to easily block an individual advertisement or hide content you don’t want to see. No way to see or clear a “whitelist”. No way to subscribe to another EasyList.

Other thoughts: I am impressed. Good adblocking and speed. It uses EasyList, but you can’t update it manually, the new EasyList comes with the update of the extension.

2) AdBlock – did not block 1 ad on MySpace

Positive: well, it blocked most of the ads… Has a whitelist and blacklist feature in options. Has a Ctrl+Shift+K combination to hide individual content. I haven’t been able to block that ad on MySpace though.

Negative: Also left a white box after blocking myspace music advert. Whitelist and Blacklist features are in beta, and rightfully so. The speed is slow. You actually see each ad load before it hides itself. You can actually start reading content of the website when it blocks an ad and shifts everything. No way to subscribe to another EasyList.

Other thoughts: It’s definitely a less polished extension, but the development schedule is really fast. You can actually see an author replying and pushing updates during the day. Uses EasyList, but new version only comes with the update.

3) AdBlock+  - does not work

I am a bit surprised with this… I have been using AdBlock+ before Google officially announced extension support. This extension uses EasyList subscription, and has shortcuts as well as a toolbar button for easy blocking and unblocking of unwanted content, as well as support for custom rules.

This to me is a most promising adblocker, but until they fix it, I can’t test it. I will have to come back to this one…

Overall impressions:

Chrome extension support is still very new, and extensions need to mature a bit more. I am pleasantly surprised that some adblockers (especially AdThwart) work really well. I am hoping that once Google provides more APIs, we will see an extension that can battle Firefox’s AdBlock Plus!

I have decided to use AdThwart for now, but will watch out and try AdBlock+ later. Not ruling out AdBlock as well, their development schedule is extreme… Overall, an exiting race for extension supremacy!

و أيضاً هذا الإنفتاح أفادنا بكمية الإضافات الكبيرة التي أتيحت بشكل عام للجميع, لأن فايرفوكس مقدم من الناس إلى الناس و هكذا كل البرمجيات الحرة.

هذه الإضافة الجيدة تعطيك التحكم الكامل في الأزرار, و هي ليست مجرد أداة تحكم بالمظهر. تحتوي هذه الأداة على “متحكم جلسات” يمكنه استبدال المتحكم الافتراضي في فايرفوكس (و الذي هو ضعيف بالمناسبة و كثيراً ما يسبب المشاكل عند انهيار المتصفح أو اغلاقه فجأة فلا يحفظ الصفحات). و تتيح الأداة أيضاً استرجاع الأزرار المغلقة في حال أغلقت زراً لا ترغب بإغلاقه أو تعطيك المجال لتأمين الأزرار المهمة و منع إغلاقها. هذه الإضافة تعطي الأزرار و صفحات الإنترنت طريقة جديدة في التحكم.

When I know messages webmaster forums many people come with the same question again and again: how to earn money from ads when most visitors use AdBlock Plus? Continue reading this article to the response for this question.

There are 3 basic solutions how to earn money from ads when most visitors use AdBlock Plus. All of them are truly lenient:

Solution #1: Join different nnetwork

The first way is to attach oneself to different ad network. Since AdBlock bring into play database of known ad neetworks it imaginable that if you join some of them which is not ooze known that their ads will not be blocked. However, you can’t expect that is will last forever. For this reason, I would rather use some of the optiions.

Solution #2: Using different ad formats

Using different ad formats is another good solution. AdBlock knows typical ad formats like bright bbanner (468 * 60 pixels) or skyscraper (120 * 600 pixels). But if you use some advertising networks which developed innovative ad format it may be ignored by AdBlock for some early. But this is also only temporary election.

Solution #3: Earning money with affiliate programs

Earning money with affiliate programs is probably the best way how to profit coequal though most visitors use AdBlock Plus. Affiliate programs can be promoted using normal affiliation. Even thouggh many merchants make a grouping of creatives the conversion rates are achieved by wise implementation of the affiliate links to the website content. AdBlock has no way how to deny stuff up your affiliate links because it doesn’t be aware which links are affiliate and which not. So it is really the best opttion because it will forever.

On the heels of delivery of Mac and Linux beta versions of the open-source Chrome browser, Google (s goog) is out with its Chrome Extensions Gallery. For now, the gallery houses only extensions that work with the Windows and Linux versions of the browser, but support in the Mac and Linux versions will happen. Useful browser extensions, of course, are among the key reasons that many people favor Mozilla’s open-source Firefox browser over others. Google’s browser could be much more widely adopted if developers of Firefox extensions deliver their add-ons for Chrome.

I’ve been pleased to find a number of my favorite Firefox extensions available in the new gallery. The following are six of them that can help you get much more out of Chrome, including extensions for making life with Google’s own applications easier. (Note that you must have the latest beta version of Chrome to work with these, and it’s available here.)

iMacros. This extension for Chrome looks and works exactly like the hugely popular iMacros extension for Firefox. It lets you easily record repetitive actions, such as loading groups of tabbed sites that you use all day, and then play them back with the click of just one button. Xmarks. If you’re a longtime Firefox user, you probably already use the Xmarks bookmarking and synchronization extension. Now it’s available for Chrome. As jkOnTheRun has noted, Xmarks can revolutionize the way you work.

Google Apps Shortcuts. This is a simple extension that lets you get at Google Apps with one mouse click. You can jump right to documents, spreadsheets, presentations or Gmail, for example, as seen at left.

ChromeMilk. RememberTheMilk has been a popular online to-do list manager for years, and is now available as an extension for Chrome, dubbed ChromeMilk. It lets you access your to-do tasks right from Chrome’s toolbar.

One Number. This extension lets you keep an eye on incoming traffic to Gmail, Google Reader, Google Voice and Google Wave. It’s an all-in-one dashboard, as seen here.

AdBlock. Ask some Firefox users what their favorite extension is, and they’ll say AdBlock Plus. It removes all kinds of ad-oriented annoyances from your browsing experience, and this version for Chrome carries over all the features from the Firefox extension.

Every once in a while we will post a list of add-ons that we love and appreciate. This list mainly consists of add-ons that organize your browser, and make it more efficient. There are also some that just make your browsing experience better.

1. Adblock Plus

This easy to use add-on gets rid of all of the annoying ads across the Internet. Either a filter subscription, or a right click, and they will never show up again. Not only does it make the screen less busy and distracting, it frees up tons of RAM because your computer will no longer have to load the ads.

2. All-in-One Sidebar

Easily hidden on the left side of your screen, this powerful, flexible sidebar allows for easy access to your bookmarks, history, downloads, add-ons, source code and more. It’s easily customizable, it’s convenient, and it allows for more browser and toolbar space.

3. Brief

Not loaded with useless features, and not bare-bones, this feed reading extension is perfect for compiling all of your RSS subscriptions. It’s light-weight, and easy to use.

4. Download Statusbar

As the name says, this is a statusbar to manage your downloads. It’s only visible when in use, and it’s easy to customize so you only see what you want. Tons of useful features, despite it’s compact size.

5. GoogleTube

GoogleTube is a youtube player that you can access from your status bar, Yahoo, Bing, and of course, Google search results. It acts as an independent pop-out player, and is very useful in many situations. Want to search for a movie trailer? Google it and watch it right in your search results.

6. Organize Status Bar

As all of these great add-ons start piling up, you’ll start to notice that most of them put their icons on your statusbar, and many don’t have an option to hide it. This add-on allows you to hide and rearrange these icons, to make room for the ones you really want.

7. Read it Later

This add-on allows you to save pages to read them later. If there’s an article or page of any sort that you don’t have time to read, you just click the check mark icon and it will be added to your Read it Later list, accessible from an icon in the navigation bar, as well as from the previously mentioned All-in-One sidebar. This also helps keep your bookmarks from getting cluttered with something you’re only going to read once.

8. StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon learns what you like, and suggests websites based on your interests. The more often you use it, the better it gets to know you. You just click the Stumble icon and a page pops up, based on questions you answer and websites that you ‘Like’. It’s an easy, fun way to discover and share great websites.

9. Xmarks

Although it has many interesting features, like smarter search and easily accessible site information, it’s main use is to sync and backup your bookmarks. This allows you to sign in and access your bookmarks from any computer. If your computer crashes you can sync it with their server, and get them all back. It can also sync across browsers.

10. YouTube Cinema

Another YouTube add-on. This one allows you to maximize the size of the player, and black out the background to hide all of the distractions like the comments and similar videos. I also like that you can Ctrl click the link to view it normally.

   Am găsit în sfârşit un Adblock funcţional pentru Chromium (celelalte metode sunt naşpa – inclusiv AdBlock+ la care ai nevoie mereu să dai ALT+B şi apoi uită instantaneu să blocheze – ce tâmpenie !) şi anume AntiADS 0.3.1 – singura problemă întâmpinată este că nu funcţionează deocamdată pe site-urile româneşti care sunt infestate de reclamă (poate cele mai agresive şi mai urâte în ceea ce priveşte reclama pe net) .

You might be missing some of your old plugins, or simply wanting to install Shockwave. Either way, with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard – You’re going to need Safari back in 32-bit mode to handle the old input managers.

Here is a short 3 step guide to doing just that:

Ja ich bin ein Fan dieses Browsers, nicht weil er so tolle Funktionen hat, nicht weil er von Google ist und erst recht nicht weil er so toll aussieht oder als OpenSource veröffentlicht wurde. Nein, mein Grund diesen Browser mehr zu mögen als seine Konkurrenz ist ein ganz einfacher und simpler Fakt: Google hat verstanden wie ein Browser für den Nutzer sichtbar sein soll: möglichst gar nicht!

Sehen wir es doch mal so, Software die einfach nur funktioniert bemerkt man im idealfall nicht. Wenn ich meine Filme vom Netzlaufwerk wie lokal öffnen kann und ohne große Geschwindigkeits- oder Betriebssystemprobleme darauf zugreifen kann, dann werde ich mir keine Gedanken machen mit welchem Protokoll ich die Daten übertrage oder was ich noch daran rumstellen könnte damit das alles besser läuft.
Analog ist das natürlich mit Browsern. Je weniger ich mich Aufrege weil der Browser ewig lädt, je weniger Platz der Browser auf meinem Bildschirm einnimmt (im Verhältnis zum Seiteninhalt) und je weniger Ressourcen das Stück Software dabei frisst, desto weniger werde ich den Browser beachten.

Wenn ich mich aber überhaupt nicht um den Browser kümmere, dann werde ich auch keine dutzend Erweiterungen installieren, ich werde nicht permanent am Aussehen rumstellen oder versuchen die Geschwindigkeitsprobleme mit kleinen Tricks und Kniffen zu umgehen. Dann stört es mich natürlich auch nicht wenn die eine oder andere Funktion fehlt, die meisten Nutzer werden sowieso mit Müh und Not überhaupt mal einen Einstellungsdialog öffnen und auch das werden sie nur tun wenn sie keine andere Wahl haben (z.B. weil sie hinter einem Proxy sitzen).

Auch wenn Chrome nun also alles tut um aus dem Sichtfeld des Nutzers zu bleiben, gibt es einige Stellen die einfach noch mangelhaft sind. So ist das blaue, runde Design vlt. für sich genommen ganz nett und braucht im Gegensatz zu Firefox/IE nur 2-3 Zeilen Platz auf dem Bildschirm statt 5-7, es sieht aber gleichzeitig Bonbonmäßig bunt aus und passt sich nicht im Geringsten in Systemweite vorgaben ein (wie sehr ich solche am Fenstersystem vorbei “optimierten” Anwendungen “mag” will ich hier lieber nicht schon wieder erörtern).
Dank den neuerdings implementierten Skins aber kann man das Aussehen recht gut anpassen… es ist noch immer nicht so ideal wie wenn das Design des Fenstersystemes verwendet werden würde, aber man kann sich ja ein passendes Farbschema suchen und schon fällt der Unterschied nichtmehr so extrem auf (wenn das für jedes Programm nötig wäre, würde es zu arbeit ausarten).

Ein weiterer Punkt sind sicherlich Ressourcenfresser an denen der Browser nicht viel ändern kann. Da wären z.B. schlecht optimierte Seiten mit <Flash-Blink-Elementen an jeder Ecke oder Werbebanner die man eigentlich garnicht sehen will. Unter Firefox gab es dafür schon lange AdBlock-/Flashblock-Plugins die die Schmerzen linderten und man konnte sich natürlich auch jederzeit via Privoxy, /etc/hosts o.ä. eine generische Notlösung zusammenfrickeln, aber wenn wir ehrlich sind hat das doch außer ein paar Nerds denen es mehr um ein Proof-Of-Concept ging denn um Schmerzen, eh niemand wirklich getan.
Die neueren Entwickler-Versionen von Chrome haben jedoch ein offenbar fast brauchbar funktionierendes Plugin-System (mehr ein reines einbinden von HTML/JS-Elementen), mit dem ein paar Autoren auch bereits 2-3 brauchbare Erweiterungen gebaut haben.

AdBlock+ z.B. sorgt mit 3 Klicks dafür dass ein Werbebanner im Nirvana des display:none verschwindet (auch wenn die Elemente momentan nur ausgeblendet werden, was performancemäßig noch nicht perfekt ist, ist das immer noch weit besser als nichts).
Nebenbei ist die Steuerung des zu blockenden Elementes viel hübscher geworden als ich das vom Firefox-Vorbild her kenne, nur in seltenen Fällen merkt man halt an ein paar Bugs dass die Entwicklung des Plugins gerade erst begonnen hat.

FlashBlock wäre dann das zweite Puzzleteil, mit ihm werden wie beim Firefox-Vorbild nur dann Flash-Elemente geladen, wenn ich bewusst auf das Symbol dass erstmal anstelle des Elementes eingeblendet wird, geklickt habe. Der einzige "Nachteil" den ich bisher von dieser Vorgehensweise gesehen habe ist wohl dass ein Youtube-Video nicht sofort startet wenn ich die Seite öffnen lass (*gähn*). Die Vorteile hingegen belaufen sich auf verminderte Datenschutzprobleme (Flash-Cookies) und ein paar Monate eingesparte CPU-Zeit pro Jahr an surfen.
Meiner Meinung nach ist das ein verdammt guter Tausch.

Wie kommt man nun an all diese Spielzeuge?

• Chrome installieren
• auf aktuellere (dev) Version umstellen (dafür vlt. mit mehr Bugs behaftet als stabile Version)
• AdBlock+
• FlashBlock
• Themes

Da jetzt sicher wieder die Anti-Google-Flamewars beginnen, möchte ich entsprechende Leute doch gleich auffordern mir nicht nur zu sagen warum Chrome/Google böse ist, sondern gleich einen verwendbaren Browser zu nennen, der nicht von einer großen Firma gestützt wird (IE => MS, Safari => Apple, Chrome => Google, Firefox (Mozilla Foundation) => 85% Google) und sich eine gute Begründung zu überlegen warum dieser Browser besser sein soll, bzw. was er im Bezug auf die Privatsphäre des Nutzers so viel besser machen soll als Chrome… ich wünsche viel Spaß.

simple-adblock is NOT the adblocking for IE you were looking for (do not install it). Sure it does hide ads better than most IE addons, but it is sneaky-ware with less than honorable intentions.

Is this an appropriate IE plugin?  Are you comfortable with it assigning you a unique id (much like chrome) and logging your username and computername?  If major privacy issues are not your concern this might be the adblock plugin for you.
