What characterizes a needy person though? Is it a craving for attention? For something they don’t have? Do needy people act this way solely because they can get away with it or because they feel they require this attention? Needy people are all of these things and more, many more. The tricky thing about dealing with a needy person is that they come in so many different shapes and sizes that it’s difficult to determine why exactly they’re acting so needy, and why these needy people continue this behavior long after these needs have been met.

They lie. They will lie about anything, to anyone. It’s their way of getting attention. It could be that they want to come across as more important and/or successful than they actually are, or to garner sympathy, or to create a bond. It really doesn’t matter. They will lie about all
things, big and small. It gets to a point where the listener is loathe to believe anything that comes out of their mouths

They always to churn up some drama. That’s their way of saying, “Look at me!”, because, of course, that’s how they become the center of attention

They continually bring up “trauma” from the past. It could be the normal growing up stuff that we all went through, or a difficult divorce last decade, but they have the need to tell you how troubled they are by it. They will re-play and re-tell the same story for years without ever making any effort to resolve their feelings toward the situation..

Needy people needs understanding because they are like children. They are only looking for understanding and happiness in their own matter’s and way’s.

Facebook addiction in Girls.

Girls seem to be “permanently connected” to sites like Facebook and Bebo, president of the Girls’ Schools Association Jill Berry said.

This issue now tops the list of parents’ worries by some way, she told the association’s annual conference.

Mrs Berry also argued that girls’ interest in fashion should not be mistaken for being “shallow”.

The leader of the girls’ private school association said there was no contradiction in girls being interested in fashion and wanting to be seen as intelligent feminists.

“Girls can be highly intelligent and interested in being seen to be attractive – the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

“Caring about physical appearance and fashion and wanting to look good doesn’t have to be a betrayal of some feminist ideal. I love shoes but it doesn’t make me shallow. Girls can have fun and also be taken seriously.”

“Yet there’s academic research that touts the benefits of these activities and services like Facebook. Regardless, it’s in the hands of users, to define priorities and decide how to spend their time.”

She added that Facebook had a range of safety tips to ensure users remained safe online.

HAPPY DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING!!

so i’m at home writing these note cards lol because i have so much work due next week.. OMG i’m scared. no really I’m scared. dec 1-paper. dec 3 presentation dec 4 test.  and then so many leisure activities are happening!! so today will be a rest day and tomorrow will by my shop til i droooop day!! I’m gettin a halter backless dress.. IT is sooo effin sexy like Kwanzaa Ball is not ready at all! sigh. i love getting dressed up for no reason.

Thanksgiving was really good yesterday it’s crazy tho becuz the youngest one of us [cousins] is 14 so we are all like grown as hell. we have the AARP table and the young adults table lol we corny as ever. I didn’t eat that much but still got full quite quickly. i was so mad. Everything was so good tho, maybe it was because i haven’t had home cooked food in a while. I still can’t wait until I get my own kitchen in my own crib, i just gotta remember to stay focused and not get frustrated so easily….

Talking about being frustrated I HATE HIM SO EFFIN MUCH. omg I do. WHO? the same ole same ole dude. LIKE I HATE HIM. J’phyb is like umm yeah ur hate/love relationship with him is kinda intense. because IT’S ALL HATE AND NO LOVE lmao omg. why does everything have to be so complex! seriously? why?? why? why??? 2 months and then I close the book on this fool. Why two months? 1) start of the new semester. 2) i will be 2o and very grown [lol] 3) season will be over therefore I can’t keep saying he has a game this week he has to focus blah blah blah bullshit bullshit bullshit.

Over the last several months the intake counselors at Narconon of Georgia have noticed an increase in the number of calls for Oxycontin abuse.  Some of these abusers have gotten their Oxycontin through doctor shopping or have bought the pills off the street.

Local law enforcement reports that there are more Oxycontin related arrests and a noticeable increase in Oxycontin abuse, especially over the last 6 months.  Most of the Oxycontin tablets are initially legally obtained through a prescription, but later sold on the street for 10 to 50 dollars a tablet, depending on the dosage and some people are addicted to their own prescriptions.  Robberies of pharmacies are yet another source Oxycontin sales.

Regardless of where an addict gets their Oxycontin, it is a dangerous drug.  The time release nature of it makes it especially dangerous (often deadly) to snort or shoot up.   Oxycontin is very addictive – a person gets addicted quickly.  At the same time the withdrawal is extremely uncomfortable, often unconfrontable.

There has been a lot of press on Oxycontin especially concentrating on the fraudulent sales practices of Purdue.  The Purdue lawsuits surfaced in 2007 and here in 2009 we are still seeing an increase in Oxycontin abuse.

It is obviously up to families, communities and drug treatment programs to effectively deal with Oxycontin abuse.

Evolución, una simple palabra que engloba un concepto amplísimo y que, en verdad, pocas veces se puede aplicar al trabajo artístico de músicos, del género que sean.

Pues bien, Devin “The Madman” Townsend, vía The Devin Townsend Project ha logrado dar esos pasos hacia la evolución musical –uno a la vez- con sus diferentes materiales, el más reciente, una obra llamada Addicted, misma que goza de vertientes altamente pesadas pero no menos melódicas, con gran sentido de las armonías vocales y el manejo del tiempo para dejar a los fanáticos con el ojo cuadrado.

Lo que ha logrado Townsend en este disco es de admirarse, pues si bien se mueve en una métrica diferente al anterior, llamado Ki de excelente manufactura también, Addicted conjuga la experiencia pesada de su creador y la funde en amplios espectros sonoros bañados de teclados, ambientes más etéreos y guitarras potentes basadas en riffs que de primera suenan simples, pero que de composición resultan ser complejos.

Addicted, el segundo de una tetralogía programada de parte de Townsend, es un disco que maneja unos ritmos más accesibles, decirlo suena chafa pero de entrada son como más comerciales pero no menos intensos, esto lo hace sonar un poco a lo que hacen bandas como Nickelback, sin embargo la comparación es sólo de mención, ya que en ocasiones la verdadera naturaleza agresiva de Townsend se asoma entre los acordes de canciones como Supercrush!, Hyperdrive!, The Way Home!, Numbered! que por momentos suena a lo que hacia con Strapping Young Lad y obvio con la épica Awake!, una rolotota de más de nueve minutos de duración que cierra un gran disco.

Disco que, no se crean, necesita su buena dosis de paciencia para lograr discernir completamente los elementos que contiene, sobre todo, para encajar de buena forma las vocales de Anneke van Giersbergen, vocalista de The Gathering (ya de entrada, por este hint, pueden imaginar un poco a lo que suena en esa parte vocal), pero no se crean, no se renuncia a los poderosos growls de Townsend.

Creo que es un gran disco, habrá que esperar los restantes de la tetralogía, sin embargo van mejorando con entrega, de Ki a Addicted! hay material interesante, habrá que ver qué sucede con los restantes.

I have some and couldn’t be more excited about it.
While this probably makes me sound like some addicted nutcase, I’ve actually had a wicked bad cough for the past week, and have been sleeping fewer and fewer hours each night, resulting in a bit of a daily haze for me. So, I am going to remedy this.
Plus, I’m going on an airplane on Tuesday and would rather not be forced into wearing a mask or having everyone terrified of me.

Devin Townsend nie odpuszcza!

Zaledwie pół roku temu Kanadyjczyk wydał album zatytułowany Ki, a na dniach premierę miał album pt. Addicted, będący drugą częścią projektu Townsenda liczącego łącznie cztery albumy.

Szczerze mówiąc sądziłem, że temu nieokiełznanemu wokaliście i multiinstrumentaliście zabraknie pomysłów po pierwszym albumie. Tymczasem okazuje się, że kontynuator porządnego Ki jest… jeszcze lepszy. Panie i panowie: Addicted to album, którego nie wolno pozostawić milczeniu.

W to święto hard rockowych i heavy metalowych riffów wokalny wkład miała Anneke van Giersbergen z The Gathering, ale określenie jej jako gościa, który użyczył wokali na potrzeby płyty jest niesprawiedliwie. Wszak od strony wokalnej zarówno Townsenda jak i van Giersbergen na tym materiale jest mniej więcej po równo. Tym samym jej udział w całości jest spory, tak jakby była pełnoprawnym muzykiem z chatki Kanadyjczyka.

Addicted otwierają dwie mocne petardy, oparte na ciężkich i solidnych riffach. Z miejsca można tutaj zapomnieć o subtelniejszych momentach z Ki, bo Townsend gra ciężko, a wspierający go na perkusji Ryan Van Poederooyen dodatkowo potęguje to wrażenie. Townsend przy  tych dwóch pierwszych utworach (Addicted! i Universe in a Ball!) krzyczy i warczy, a jedynymi  ich subtelnościami są krótkie wstawki wokalistki The Gathering, może nawet trochę pachnące folkiem?

Większą część albumu stanowią utwory nieco lżejsze od poprzednich jeśli idzie o pokłady gitarowo-perkusyjne.  Nie oznacza to oczywiście, że gorsze, bo w przekroju całego albumu wchodzą częściej w klimat fajnego, bardzo ożywionego hard rocka. O ile van Giersbergen przy pierwszych nutach Addicted była dosyć nieśmiała, o tyle w takich utworach jak: Bend it like Bender!, Supercrush!, Hyperdrive! czy Resolve! jest jej w ilości czasami nawet większej niż Townsenda.

Zresztą Kanadyjczyk też schodzi z mocnego tonu wielokrotnie wprowadzając swoje wokale na wypolerowane ścieżki. Momentami z jego ust wydobywa się trudny do opisania patos z wokalnymi “wysokościami”, którymi chciałby operować niejeden wokalista.

Dopiero przy utworach Ih-Ah! oraz The Way Home!, a więc siódmym i ósmym Townsend na Addicted zwalnia. Pierwszy z nich jest właściwie balladowy. Zaryzykowałbym, że momentami nawet soft rockowy, bo riffy pojawiają się w nim w szczątkach, a Townsend i van Giersbergen tylko sobie podśpiewują, z dużym spokojem i luzem. The Way Home! trochę przyspiesza, ale to wciąż wyjątkowo lekkie horyzonty jeśli idzie o porównaniu do większej część płyty.

Szaleństwo powraca na  Numbered!. Choć w akompaniamencie z delikatną van Giersbergen, to już z silnymi riffami (momentami nawet takimi jak przy początku albumu).

Prawie 10-ciu minutowy Awake! to ukoronowanie całej płyty. Utwór ten stanowi  swobodny miks pomysłów  z poprzednich dziewięciu. Zaczyna się dosyć spokojnie, z wyważonymi wokalami Townsenda, lekkimi riffami i podśpiewującą panią The Gathering.  No, ale po jakiejś jego części zaczyna się robić ciężko, a i Townsend przestaje być wrażliwy na wokalach.  Utwór ma jeszcze kilka podobnych spadków i powrotów nastrojowych, z dosyć ciekawą elektroniczną linią wyciszającą cały krążek.

Przyznam się, że po wysłuchaniu całości byłem bardzo pozytywnie zaskoczony. Podejrzewam, że tak jak i wielu słuchaczy, którzy w bezwarunkowym malkontenckim tonie spodziewali się raczej zniżki formy po Ki.

Ten muzyk to dzisiaj wściekły pies, zerwany ze smyczy, gotowy pogryźć każdego. Tyle, że jego kły mają moc w muzyce. Zajebistej muzyce.

Biting into my skin.  Reverberating lies instead of truth.  Yet, here I stand.  On the other side.  Set free. Not going back. I won’t back down. Apparently I have enough time to update my post tag list, nothing new in the land of N yet, trying to figure out how I’m going to interlink all of my story’s into movuies and stuff.

Devin Townsend has won a sizable and devoted fanbase due to the eclectic nature of his releases. He’s released progressive metal, extreme/industrial metal, and even ambient under the various projects he has spearheaded. The Devin Townsend Project was formed after he took a brief hiatus from music writing, and it has promised to combine all of the various elements of his sound under one name. The first release earlier this year, Ki, was a soft progressive rock album. Addicted on the other hand, while still being described as “melodic”, was also promised to be “much heavier”.

And indeed it is, “Addicted!” starts off the album with Devin’s trademark wall of sound production and some pretty heavy riffs that chug along for most of the five minute song. This isn’t as extreme as his work with Strapping Young Lad, but it still has quite a bit of chunk. “Universe in a Ball!” continues this heavy, thick, almost groove metal like sound and it isn’t until “Bend It Like Bender!” that the pop element really started to shine through. As strange as it is to describe, it really does feel like a metal song that one could move to on a dance floor. The female vocals done by Anneke van Giersbergen are well used and add to this unique atmosphere. “Supercrush!” continues this dance metal theme, with such blatantly popish elements that one can’t help but smile.

“Hyperdrive!” is a re-recording of a song from one of Devin’s other albums that I haven’t listened to, so I can’t compare it to the original. I can say, however, that it is one of the highlights of Addicted. Anneke’s voice really shines here, and the song as a whole has a very anthemic quality to it. “Resolve!” continues this heavy sound, while “Ih-Ah!” provides a very welcome change of pace by slowing things up and bringing in the clean guitar and piano. It’s a standout track that is definitely one of the highlights of the album. Devin and Anneke harmonizing each other is truly a beautiful thing to here.

“The Way Home!” builds off of the previous track while still remaining less harsh and more melodic than the opening songs. “Numbered!” is of the same style, and “Awake!!” (yes, that’s two exclamation points for a change) ends the album in epic fashion by slowing things up near the end with an electronic/ambient section to end the album.

Overall I found this release to be a little bit weaker than Ki, simply because for the most part it sticks to one sound throughout. However, that being said, it’s still a solid album. Even though the songs my blend together, it’s still a fun and interesting sound that he has found for this album, so it’s definitely worth a listen for any Devin Townsend fan.
