Proposal for a New Diagnosis and Theory for Patients with Multiple Searches
By James Slobodzien, Psy.D., CSAC

Experts in the field of addictions are presently purporting that 3 to 6 percent of the world's population (193 until 386 million people) are currently being affected by a sexual dependency or compulsivity (Carnes, 2005). Sexual dependency is a diagnosable and treatable disease, which today generally regarded in much the same way that alcoholism and) Drug addiction (chemical dependency was seen 40 years ago. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of understandable misunderstandings about compulsive sexual acting out, created by the ignorance of the nature of sexual addiction, and supported and continued by the multi-billion dollar porn industry.

Sexual Dependency – is a global concept, a wide range of maladjusted by the situation and self-destructive behavior patterns and relationships as including:

1. Love Addiction – aBe disorder in which people caught repeatedly in intense inter-relationships involved, even if those relationships or partners are destructive;

2. Romance Addiction – a disorder in which individuals obsessed with the intrigue and the pursuit of romance and thrive on the thrill of the hunt, but find it impossible to maintain a committed, intimate relationship with another person;

3. Sexual Anorexia – a disorder where people are controlled andobsessed with the emotional, physical and emotional task of avoiding sex and

4. Sex Addiction – a disorder in which individuals are obsessed with sexually-related, compulsive self-destructive inappropriate behavior.

But can one really be addicted, proclaimed as the folk song 80 love? To see in a recent study, (Aron, A. 2005), published in the June issue of the Journal of Neurophysiology, researchers used functional MRI for real-time brain activity of 17 collegeStudents (10 women, seven men), all of them were in the first weeks or months after a new love. The researchers found that love may vie for the same properties in the brain as drug addiction. "Early love, rooted as it rotates in the caudate nucleus, is all about addiction." "It's an addiction." "There is certainly some of the main characteristics of drug addiction – as with drugs, if you fall in love, you need this person more and more, so after a while, be. marry There are other things too – real dependence, personality changes, withdrawal symptoms. "" And as the need for cocaine or heroin, love can make people crazy, sometimes dangerous things. "According to assist Aron (2005) to explain the results of cases where people are in love with people they do not even sexually attracted to, or why others can feel equally strong, sudden movement of a newborn child or even God.

So that means that all people who are newin love an addiction? Are all men addicted to pornography look like? Are all the women who read romance novels addictive? Are all men who have sex to avoid a sexual anorexics? No, no, no and no. How can we differentiate between addiction and healthy relationships? Like other forms of addictive diseases and lifestyle diseases, such as chemical dependency, gambling, eating disorders, addiction and religious —

Sexual addiction is characterized by an addictiveCycle:

1. Obsession or employment;

2. Ritualization;

3. Compulsive behaviors;

4. The loss of control and despair, and

5. Shame and guilt that perpetuates a mismatch belief system of impaired thinking and confusion.

In general, sexual addiction patterns are considered pathological problems when issues are related to sexual behavior in the center of life, what feelings of shame, guilt, shame, and with symptoms of depression andAnxiety, which leads to significant maladaptive social and / or occupational impairment of functioning. Addicts use no love or sex for recreation, but also for the management of anxiety and / or emotional pain.

We must remember that some people can develop dependencies on certain life-functioning activities such as sex, just as life threatening as drug addiction and how socially and psychologically damaging as alcoholism.

Sexual addiction has many forms with differentLevels of severity to include:

1. Controversial behaviors (obsessions with pornography and sex with strangers on the inclusion of a cyber-sex);

2. Unacceptable behaviors (exhibitionism, voyeurism, indecent phone calls) and

3. Basic Sex offender behaviors (rape, incest and child abuse).

Although some forms of this addiction may not be open risky, they can participate in part of a pattern of distorted thinking and identity conflict that can escalate the damage to thethemselves and others. An example of a Sexual Disorder (NOS) or not otherwise in the DSM-IV-TR, (including 2000): concerns about a pattern repeated sexual relations with a series of lovers, who through an individual experience only as things to be used. (It should be noted that the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders never the word "addiction" to) describe one of his interference.
The defining elements of this kind of addiction are its secrecyand the escalation of nature, often leading to a reduced sentence and self-control (Carnes, 1994).

Brief History of Sex Addiction

In 1976, said an S-run hospital administrator Dr. Patrick Carnes, an experimental program for chemically dependent families. The theoretical constructs of the program originated in general systems, especially as he is for families and the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. One of the many factors which stood out from a familyPerspective was that the addictive compulsivity had many forms other than alcohol and drug abuse including overeating, gambling, shoplifting, and sexuality. Members of groups such as Overeaters Anonymous and Gamblers Anonymous has already pioneered in applying the 12-steps to other addictions so the Family Renewal Center extended its programming based on the 12-steps, or sexual orientation.

In 1983, Dr. Patrick Carnes formally introduced the concept of sexual addiction, the world ina text entitled "Out of the Shadows." Since then, the field of sexual addiction and compulsive sexual behavior has dramatically evolved. Used terms such as addiction, compulsivity, hyper-sexuality, and "Don Juanism", all were to describe what in general could be considered "out of control sexual behavior." Regardless of their name, clinicians from all fields agree that a syndrome exists in which people feel that have lost control over them, their sexualBehavior.

According to the Society for the Promotion of sexual health (sash), a sexual addiction is a persistent and escalating pattern or patterns of sexual behavior acted out despite increasing negative consequences to themselves or others. The fundamental nature of all addiction is the experience of the addict "of helplessness and powerlessness over a compulsive behavior which, in their lives can still unmanageable. The addict out of control. You may experience extreme emotional pain and shame. They may not repeatedly check their behavior. They may suffer one or more of the following consequences of an unmanageable lifestyle: a deterioration of some or all supportive relationships difficulties with work, financial difficulties and physical, mental and / or emotional exhaustion which sometimes addiction mental health problems and hospitalization. Tend to be made the same background created: families with co-dependency including multiple> Addiction, lack of effective parenting and other forms of physical, emotional and sexual trauma in childhood.

The Society for the Promotion of Sexual Health (SASH report, 2005) that the symptoms of sexual compulsivity often accompany other addictive behaviors:

Alcohol and Drug Addiction – Alcohol and drugs alter libido, enhancing it early in the drug dependence and the inhibition of it later. It is selling a pattern in cocaine addiction sexual favors for cocaine. Since the cost ofDrug addiction is rising, not the drug addict usually can afford, (the drug out of the ordinary job income, and have to resort to either / or) to support theft, drug trafficking or prostitution, her habit. Alcohol and many drugs cause blackouts or amnesia during the drug experience, and if sex with that drug using experience then the details of the sexual experience coupled must not be forgotten.

Food Addiction – Sexual anorexia or pathological self-denial, healthy sex life is a common Accompanied by overeating and anorexia nervosa.

Pathological Gambling – The lifestyle of the player are often hyper-sexuality, where both compulsions feed the false sense of self-esteem of the addict.

Religious Addiction – Compulsive religiosity sometimes accompanies sexual addiction as a sex addict seeking religion to lessen guilt and shame. The beginnings of compulsive religiosity may signal the onset of a period of sexual anorexia.

Several> Addiction

Since it is impossible to expect treatment for addiction to be beneficial when other addictions co-exist, the initial therapeutic intervention for any addiction that are for an assessment for other addictions. National surveys showed that there is a very high correlation between sexual addiction and drug abuse and other addictive behavior. Sexual addicts, who have reported experiencing multiple addictions, sexualAddiction and:

* Chemical dependency (42%)

* Eating disorder (38%)

* Compulsive work (28%)

* Compulsive spending (26%)

* Compulsive Gambling (5%)

* Poor prognosis

We have come to today, more than any other time in history that the treatment of lifestyle diseases and addictions are often a difficult and frustrating task for all involved to realize. Repeated violations rich with all dependencies, even when using the mosteffective treatment strategies. But why 47% of patients in private addiction treatment programs (for example) relapse within the first year of treatment after treatment (Gorski, T., 2001)? Addiction specialists have to be conditioned to accept the failure as the norm? There are many reasons for this poor prognosis. Some would proclaim that addictions are psychosomatic-induced and maintained in a semi-balanced force field of the multidimensional positive and negative forces. Others would say that failures due simply to a lack of self-motivation and willpower. Most would agree that lifestyle behavioral addiction are serious health risks that may deserve our attention, but it may be that patients are diagnosed with multiple dependencies in the context (with one simple function) due to a lack of diagnostic tools and resources which are incapable of resolving the complexity of assessing and treating a patient more> Addiction?

Diagnostic definition

So far, the DSM-IV-TR has not delineated a diagnosis for the complexity of multiple behavioral and substance addiction. It has the poly-substance dependence diagnosis for a person who repeated at least three groups of substances in the same period of 12 months But the criteria for this diagnosis have reserved to any behavioral and addiction symptoms. In the psychological factors Medical ConditionSection (DSM-IV-TR, 2000); maladaptive health behaviors (eg, unsafe sexual practices, alcohol abuse, drug abuse and eating, etc.) can be listed on Axis I, only if they have significant effects on the course of treatment of a medical or mental condition.

Since the successful treatment outcomes are dependent on a thorough assessment and accurate diagnosis and comprehensive individualized treatment planning, it is no wonder that repeated rehabilitation failures and low success rates arethe rule rather than the exception in the addiction field, when the latest DSM-IV-TR is not even a diagnosis for multiple addictive behavioral disorders. Treatment clinics need to be a treatment planning system and referral network, which is thoroughly equipped more addiction and mental illness and related treatment needs are assessed comprehensively and provide education / awareness raising, prevention strategy groups, and / or specific addiction treatment servicesfor people diagnosed with multiple addiction. Written treatment goals and objectives should be specified a detail for each of addiction and dimension of life, and the desired performance outcome or completion criteria should be explicitly noted in the behavior is based (a visible activity), and measurable.

Proposed new diagnosis

To assist in resolving the limited DSM-IV-TRS 'diagnostic capability, a multidimensional diagnosis of "Poly-behavioralAddiction, "is proposed for more accurate diagnosis leads to more effective treatment planning. This diagnosis encompasses the broad category of addiction that a person discloses a combination of drug abuse, addiction and other obsessive-compulsive behavioral addictive behavioral patterns of addiction, religion and / or Sex / pornography, etc., would include). Behavioral addictions are just as damaging – psychologically and sociallysuch as alcohol and drug abuse. They are compared with data on other lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease in their behavioral problems, their causes and their resistance to treatments. They will participate in progressive disorders, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. They are also characterized by a preoccupation with a continuous or periodic loss of control, and continuous irrational behavior in spite of negative consequences.

Poly-BehaviorAddiction would be described as a state of periodic or chronic physical, mental, emotional, cultural, sexual and / or spiritual-religious frenzy. These different types of poisoning are involved, by repeated obsessive thoughts and compulsive behavior practices in pathological relationships to any mood change substance, person, organization, belief system, and / or creates an activity. The individual has an overpowering desire, need or compulsion with the presence of a tendency to increase theircompliance with these procedures, and evidence of phenomena of tolerance, abstinence and withdrawal, which is always physical and / or psychological dependence on the effects of this pathological relationship. In addition, there is a 12 – month period in which an individual with three or more abnormal behavior and / or drug addiction at the same time involved, but the criteria does not satisfy the dependency for an addiction in particular (Slobodzien, J., 2005). InEssence, Poly-behavioral addiction is the synergistically integrated chronic dependence on multiple physiologically addictive substances and behaviors (eg, the use / abuse of drugs – nicotine, alcohol and drugs, and act / or impulsively or obsessively compulsive in terms of gambling, food binging, sex, and / or religion, etc.) simultaneously.

Conclusion

With the diversity of sexual behaviors in our world today, one should always take into account whether an individualethnic, cultural, religious and social background before pathologize clinical decisions, and it would be wise not too strong in this area of sexual addiction. However, since successful treatment outcomes are dependent on a thorough assessment and accurate diagnosis and comprehensive individualized treatment planning – poly-behavioral addiction must be determined to the complexity of effective addiction treatment of multiple behavioral and substance.

Since chronicLifestyle diseases and disorders such as diabetes, hypertension, alcoholism, drug and behavioral addiction can not be cured but only managed – how should we effectively manage poly-behavioral addiction?

The Addiction Recovery Measurement System (ARMS) is proposed to use a multidimensional integrative assessment, treatment planning, treatment progress achieved, and treatment outcome measurement system that allows rapid and accurate detection and assessment of a Tracking –Single comprehensive life-functioning progress dimensions. The ARMS hypothesis purports that it is a multidimensional synergistically negative resistance that individual to develop to some form of treatment to a single dimension of their lives, because the effects of addiction a person interacts dynamically multidimensional. Once the focus is on one dimension inadequate. Traditional addiction treatment programs do not includethe multidimensional synergistically negative effects of a person, who several dependencies (eg nicotine, alcohol and obesity, etc.). Behavioral Addiction negative working with each other and with strategies for improving global interaction. They tend to promote the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs, help increase violence, decrease efficiency, and promote social isolation. Most treatment theories today involve assessing other dimensions toidentify dual diagnosis or co-morbidity diagnoses, or to assess factors that may play a role in the primary function of the individual. Proclaimed Weapon "theory that a multidimensional treatment plan must be devised addressing the possible multiple addiction for all of life of the individual dimensions in addition to the developing countries to identify specific goals and objectives for each dimension.

Partnerships and coordination between service providers, government agenciesDepartments and community organizations in providing addiction treatment programs are a necessity in addressing the multi-task solution to poly-behavioral addiction. I encourage you to support the addiction programs in America, and hope that the (weapons) resources support you personally in the war on poly-behavioral addiction to fight.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Although there is no such thing as a good addiction, probably one of the worst is the Find a word that people with tobacco.

Tobacco is a slightly different kind of addiction in comparison to addictions such as gaming and sex, addictions, which are almost caused by the addictive personality itself. Tobacco is a little different, because the substance itself addictive.

Most people who take to smoking, especially if they live in a hardNeighborhood to do this because the cool thing to do. Peer pressure is a terrible thing in this world, especially if you are a youth. The last thing you want is to have your colleagues laugh at you, call chicken or whatever it daily abuse of court if you tell them no thanks to the hand that they are cigarette. So to not be forgotten, take the cigarette and take your first train to be teased.

Unfortunately, the hooks, which follows, is your body a chance toTells you that they do not want to be smoke in the lungs, ignored by young people. God forbid he should be allowed to be laughed at, because so squeamish.

It takes time, but eventually the body will not even accustomed to the smoke. The cough is not so difficult, but gradually all the stops. Soon, the youth in the situation, a whole cigarette without external signs that the cigarette itself does him no harm to smoke.

It is at this point that the act of smoking isaddicted is not because of the smoke, but because the substance referred to in his nicotine. Nicotine is a drug and like any other drug, if taken long enough, the body begins to crave it. Suddenly the person finds that if he is not a cigarette, which he begins to nervously. Now it is not simply a question of a load compartment of a smoke to impress his friends, but a drug that does not satisfy the way to go.

For some people, this addiction can become so bad that they have evolved into whatbe a chain smoker. These are people who have a cigarette at all times. This chain smoker can easily go through four or five packs of cigarettes per day.

There is no need to go beyond the damage, do not go this way of smoking on the body. In the years since reaching the peak of their popularity cigarettes has been done enough research to prove beyond doubt that smoking causes cancer, respiratory diseases and heart disease. Kills in a word, smoking. FurtherEvidence that smoking is an addiction, in fact, as with this knowledge of what cigarette smoking can do, these people find it almost impossible to stop.

Since then, there were many ways to try to deal with this terrible addiction, including patches, gum, and of course smokers anonymous. While some people succeed in ending their habit of smoking, many of them are never in a position to abandon it completely.

Unfortunately, the best way to stop it, not to start in the first place.

I was talking to my sister-in-law Nancy a few weeks ago and I was kind of making fun of a girlfriend of mine who entered all these dumb contests online. She really thinks she going to win a laptop or a car or whatever the prize is for some of those contests that are blinking almost every place you go online that I wouldn’t click with a ten foot pole. Anyway, she so kindly reminded me of my blunder-headed contest I got involved in 25 years ago!! Dontcha just love sister in-laws who remind you of all your screw ups?????

These were “trivia” contests and you would call a phone number and answer the questions of your choice. I always picked the soap opera questions and I won ALL THE TIME. Only I didn’t really know what I was winning until my prizes started arriving in the mail. Then I knew I’d been taken. My prizes were things like a pen with a digital clock on the side or a plastic picture frame. I won “dollar store” prizes. I was so disappointed. I’d become addicted to calling these numbers and answering the questions.

BUT GUESS WHAT HAPPENED??? I got my phone bill. One month my phone bill was $300. This was a LONG time ago and that was an unheard of amount of money for that. I knew Paul was going to kill me. He wouldn’t care if I spent that money calling someone. He wouldn’t care if I went out and bought something and spent that money but I knew his point was going to be that I spent that on NOTHING! Phone calls and junk prizes. Well DUH! I didn’t know what the prizes were going to be until they started coming. I knew I had to tell him because I knew the phone bill had to be paid. I ended up crying while trying to tell him what dumb thing I’d done and it ended up working for me in a way I didn’t intend. He must have thought it was going to be something MUCH WORSE because he never really got mad.

The point is people get taken by scams and other people all the time. Has any scam come close to anyone in your life? Or you?? Come on, you can admit it.

Image : http://www.flickr.com Drug addiction is a process of repeated drug use, escalation to addict

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Drug addiction is a process of repeated drug use, escalation to addiction to drugs and then not be able to control this addiction. Drug use can begin when a person has the need to feel calm and reassured, as medicines have tried a crippling effect on a person, the reality of life in the face. Someone whose life is unhappy or perhaps a feeling of hopelessness of life, suffers from physical pain or boredom experienced in their lives rather than turn to drugs to escape from their mental andphysical suffering.

Peer pressure is another factor why a person starts here drugs, especially among young people. You can be confident their problems solved with the help from a drug. While under the influence of drugs, the reality is no more and they continue to drugs in this kingdom of pleasure stay available. These have the feeling of joy that the desire for more drugs. The drug residues in the body causes the desire to leave.

Drugs are for use on certainDischarges for health problems, but drugs can have side effects. One of them is to create a dependency on the drug. This dependence is a serious result of ingestion of drugs and addiction is easy to see. Toxicity exists in all drugs, if taken in large doses in order to hold a person continues with their involvement in drugs and still higher doses, the results can be fatal.

The physiological reasons that may start a person on the road to drug addiction are pretty much the samefor all people, as all experience problems in their lives, but not everyone turns to drugs as a solution. The precise theories about why some people resort to drugs to be found free from the problems of life may find that these people are weak to do with the start and on a crutch of a species, they have to suffer through the misery of her look skinny. On the other hand, if it could be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain or be genetically linked.

To look for signs in childrenDrug abuse is a change of friends, lie, steal, changes in personality, poor performance at school, withdrawal from others, etc. Overall, the signs and symptoms of substance abuse among people of all ages to use bad judgment, nervousness, dilated pupils, impaired speech and a low attention span. Of course, drug users are with the needle tracks on his arms on the hand. It should also be noted that vary depending on the drug used, the signs and symptoms.

There is no single treatmentrecommended that drug dependence, as will be addressed each of the specific issues that needed to determine the type of treatment. The first requirement in medical treatment is for individuals to acknowledge their addiction and realize that they need help. Timing is important, because if that decision was made, treatment should be available to them. If there is a pause between them make their decision will have for the help and treatment, there is a good possibility they will changetheir opinion. Thus, after the treatment for them at that specific time is required.

Attention must be given to the specific needs of individuals, taking into account her medical and psychological situation and how this extends into their relationships with family, friends and work colleagues. The treatment must be reasonably based on the age and sex of the individual. Of course, adults would be with very different situations as children and wouldexperience different problems associated with these situations. Was the same as for the men and women whose individual problems were.

Individual and group counseling is given to individuals, which consists of the analysis of their specific problems, which originally drove them to drugs. To evaluate your obsessive behavior toward drugs to them again on the way of dealing with their day to day, without problems with a crutch.

Normally requires treatmentapproximately three months before any significant signs of improvement, and after that, an additional treatment is needed to reach the recovery stage. Some people will leave the treatment before they complete the whole course, there are guidelines rather than encouraging them to stay and the full treatment.

Who watches Soap Opera’s? Or should I ask, who will admit to watching them? My mom never watch

Who watches Soap Opera’s? Or should I ask, who will admit to watching them? My mom never watch soaps but my grandma watched a couple. I can remember watching General Hospital with her when I was just a child. I don’t watch it anymore but I used to.

I can’t really believe it but back in the day when my boys were young, before I went to work, I watched 4 one hour soaps. The Young and the Restless, All My Children, One Live To Live and General Hospital. Once I started working, there was no way I could watch 4 so I cut them down to Y&R and AMC. Thank goodness VCR’s had come out so that’s what I recorded. I’ve been watching AMC since it’s debut and Y&R since 1975. There have been periods where I didn’t watch but I keep coming back to them for some reason.

I now watch Y&R, AMC and Bold and the Beautiful. That one is only 30 minutes and it’s usually when I eat my lunch. I’ve gotten so used to taping them that I still watch them that way and I only watch them late at night when I’m up alone puttering around in my kitchen.

The soaps may be leaving us. The Guiding Light went off the air a few months ago and I just heard that As The World Turns will be going off the air in the fall of 2010. That leaves only 2 soaps on CBS. Boy, I think that’s so sad. I watched a program about this and they said that soaps were just becoming a thing of the past. Boy, I can still see my MIL ironing and watching her shows. My grandma too and now me. I’ve gotten attached to Erica Kane. What can I say?? They were saying that game shows and judge shows are much cheaper to produce so that’s what they were going to. Just what we need, more judge shows! I don’t know about you but when Monty Hall did Let’s Make A Deal, it seemed so much better to me than Dwayne Brady now. Now when I see an adult with a diaper on and a pacifier, it just seems stupid to me so I’ve only taken one glimpse of that new show and I just couldn’t stand it.

Can you remember your mom or grandma watching the soaps? Does it give you warm feelings or do you just think they are dumb? I sure hope they don’t end up taking them all off the air. I know they aren’t like real life but hey, that’s what fantasy is and I’ve gotten so attached to my 3 shows. I’d be lost without them on at night. Do you watch any soaps?

Image : http://www.flickr.com It is a practice that now has been the last few decades, the appalling

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It is a practice that now has been the last few decades, the appalling consequences and causes of drug addiction for many. The mental health doctors were some of the children with a diagnosis of mental illness and what they are prescribing medications for these children.

This kind of what the experts call a disability attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, minimal brain dysfunction, learning disabilities, developing reading and writing disorder.Otherwise, to recognize that all children are different and each has its own personality traits, these experts, the idea that if a child is not fulfilling exactly as they should feel or do the same way other children, the child some form of mental disability that requires a medication to take care of the problem.

Some children at the age of three or four years old are prescribed a drug to alleviate their so-called mental disorder. Because these drugs can cause dependence, we areThis way our children can be started on the path to addiction.

This should alarm us all to the fact that drugs should never be introduced for all, especially our children. Unfortunately, this is not the case, since there are millions of children in America who are to be given the most dangerous and addictive drugs on the face of the earth. They are not illegal drugs, but perfectly legal by prescription. These drugs have an impact to change a mind, in addition to an addictive effectsthese children.

Parents and teachers alike were persuaded to believe that there is something wrong with a child if their school performance is not what is expected when the overactive child, or if their attention span is shorter than what normally regarded as . A drug is then prescribed for the child to take, and promised to take care of this drug problem is increasing. Often this is by convincing the parents the child is doing some kind of mental disability.

So many ask whythere are so many shootings in schools today. Children are taking weapons to school and shooting other students and teachers. This type of occurrence was unknown twenty years ago, why has become so widespread in recent years? If you can trace the history of the school shooters, almost to a person, they are all on some kind of drug and many of them have set since early childhood drugged. Since the medications they are taking drugs to change the spirit, it is notWonder they were the deeds which they have committed?

Ritalin is the "popular" drugs, the children of the so-called mental handicap they suffer given. Teachers were in the concept note that Ritalin have when their children, they will not be able to teach. There were guided back to a time in the mid-1990s, when there is a shortage of Ritalin and many teachers did not feel she was a classroom without her "children Ritalin.

To understand how Ritalin is dangerous, that we firstneed to know what it is. It is what one drug at a rate or an upper. In the body, it performs the same as cocaine or amphetamines, and their affects in the body longer than cocaine or amphetamines, while still as strong.

During all this time promoting Ritalin as an effective treatment for learning disabilities, no evidence has ever been found to prove this theory, nor by the manufacturers of Ritalin is. They make no claim the drug has ever helped in a childLearn.

Know what we know about drug addiction and its devastating impact on not only the addict, but society as a whole, why should anyone start Drugging children? The answer is simple – just look at the profits of drug companies!

This morning I tweeted a Mindhacks article about addiction. This is not just talking about the usual

This morning I tweeted a Mindhacks article about addiction. This is not just talking about the usual booze-and-drugs stuff but about how so much behaviour is stamped with the label “addiction” as if that excuses people from behaving like fools.

I’m biased, I have to say. I have grown up around addictions but have no extensive academic knowledge about them so this is, as ever, all just a debate with myself and anyone else who cares to join me.

In the papers over the weekend there was plenty of opinion and comment regarding the state of Tiger Woods’ marriage and how he needs treatment for sex addiction. Now, in my limited life experience I have noted that men tend to like having sex. Often with as many partners as possible. It’s some kind of evolutionary urge dontcha know. So what happens when a man can have sex.. alot.. and get away with it? Is it really an addiction? Perhaps an addiction to hedonism, an addiction to instant gratisfaction, an addiction to being a narcissistic asshat but surely not actually an addiction to sex.

I guess the difference is between chemical dependency (nicotine, alcohol, crack) and behavioural dependency. Though there seems to me more and more of an overlap between drugs and behaviour.

For example (and I’m not a scientist or researcher so I’m going to fail totally to cite my sources) I read somewhere that when you quit smoking it takes eight hours for the oxygen levels in your blood to return to normal and two days for the nicotine to leave your system. After two weeks you are no longer addicted to the nicotine, just the habit. So that’s behaviour, right? Emotional rather than physical dependence?

Equally, being an alcoholic (and here my sources are only that I grew up with one) means that you are trying to numb something that is emotionally unbearable. Alcohol could easily be exchanged in many cases for another drug – based on what is available to the individual – and that when seeking treatment you have to address the behaviour as well as the physical addiction.

Perhaps I am being naive. But having seen a lot of people do a lot of weird shit in my lifetime, most of it that involved drugs, alcohol, sex or other weirder addictions (more to come on that) was merely another layer to the complexity of that person’s behaviour. The “addiction” was merely an adjunct – either enhancing or repressing some dysfunctional behaviour.

Now, I know that there is all the X activity releases Y hormone in the brain which makes people addicted to exercise, shopping, the internet etc but that has to be different from an actual physical dependency on an external drug that we introduce willingly to our body?

Or is it?

Is alcoholism the same as sex addiction? Are the needs that the satisfaction of an addiction (drug or behaviour) temporarily fulfils just being expressed in different but equally dysfunctional ways?

Ok, so I’m gonna admit right now that I don’t know if this is the actual name of the collection or not. I threw the box away without actually paying any attention to the name, and despite a good five minutes of searching on Godiva’s website, I couldn’t find them for confirmation. So I’m calling them the holiday star collection. After all, they are only around for the holidays, are shaped like stars and are sold in a cute little box, which I’m pretty sure qualifies them as a collection.

In the past year or two, as a sort of supplement to the G Collection, Godiva has been offering seasonal pieces that look and kind of taste like some of the G Collection favorites. They are usually quite pretty to look at and of a less truffley or praline variety, and more of a creamier, smoother consistancy. Around Halloween they had some bats, ghosts and tombstones. For the Christmas season there are stars.

Each star is painted with the metalic looking paint the G Collection is famous for. I get the feeling sometimes that more time is spent trying to make them look nice on the outside than to be flavorful on the inside, which is kind of a pity. Sure, they are pretty to look at, but I have to admit that after trying each flavor, I sort of felt “eh.” They weren’t bad by any means, but they weren’t something I could see myself buying again, even if they weren’t around for a limited time.

The four flavors are: almond shortbread, chocolate mint, Mexican hot chocolate and holiday spice. Despite the fact there are only four pieces in the collection, it does come in a cute 5 piece box, which includes one of each flavor and an extra almond shortbread piece.

So, since it was the first one I tried, let’s go ahead and start with that shortbread piece. It was pretty too look at. It was a bright white star with splashes of dark blue. Even though there was no red, it seemed like a very patriotic candy to me. Since the piece has a white chocolate base and is covered in white chocolate, it has a very creamy texture. However, it didn’t not really taste like almond or shortbread to me. It was far more vanilla than nut or cookie. It reminded me a bit of French vanilla ice cream, which while good, is not the promised almond shortbread.

The next piece was the chocolate mint, which was painted a gorgeous green with gold splashes. I loved the shade, but wasn’t quite as thrilled with the taste. It was definitely a dark chocolate piece. The mint mixed with the chocolate was a little bitter, but it did remind me of a candy cane. I think I was hoping for a little closer to a Peppermint Patty. I mean candy canes are ok, but they aren’t my favorite way to eat mint.

The Mexican hot chocolate piece was by far the prettiest. It was a deep burgandy red with gold splashes. When I held it up, the metalic hints sparkled in my living room lamplight. The piece didn’t have the spicy kick I’ve come to expect from a Meican hot chocolate piece. It was creamy, and not at all bitter, which I have to admit was refreshing. Mexican hot chocolate often has a sligthly bitter taste. This one actually has a bit of a pudding after taste, which was rather pleasant.

The holiday spice piece was a bit like pumpkin pie. Not as good as Godiva’s pumpkin spice truffle, but it did have a nice spicey taste. It reminds me a bit of a spice cake and that is nice.

Overall, not a bad collection, but definitely not one of my favorites. I’m often disappointed by the G Collection, which is sad because the pieces are so pretty to look at. However, at $13 for 5, they are not worth the investment.

Taste: 6/10

Appearance: 9/10

Price: 4/10

“It takes a woman twenty years to make a man of her son, and another woman twenty minutes to make a fool of him.” Helen Rowland

Freud taught us this one. We now know all about the man and his quest to turn his wife back into his mother.

Men want a mother in a wife. This is why they have so much trouble making love to the women they marry. They turn a wife into their mother as fast as they possibly can.

Often it’s the mother-meshed-men who won’t settle down. They refuse to give up sex addictions or playing the field primarily because they’ve accepted no one will ever come close to the perfection of their mother and all the other women of the world are just for games.

However, if you have a mother enmeshed man as a husband, he will try to make you his mother.

Men will often marry a woman who they’ve decided is like their mother. But even if she’s not, as soon as the new woman is on the scene in a permanent way, she is expected to look after him physically.

But that’s not all a mother does is it?

She also has to nurture you. She has to make your problems more important than her own. She has to pretend she has the deepest interest in whatever crises you are having and that whatever is on her mind is of no importance at all. She has to embrace your projects and support you in them, after she is launching you into the world. It’s a good reflection on her if you do well, so it is her job to ensure you have all you need to succeed.

This is what men expect of their wives. However, sometimes they want to mould you – just as they did to their own mother. Sometimes they want to play Henry Higgins to your Eliza Doolittle. However, one thing is for certain, they have a great deal of trouble seeing you as something separate than that holiest of holy women – the creature that gave birth to him.

After all, she did a remarkably good job of that didn’t she? She deserves to see him be a huge success.

In romance novels, men never see the heroine as his mother. If she is the kind of woman who wants to support t him and provide those womanly nurturing type supports he will accept it with gratitude, never taking it for granted. However, for the most part, the heroines in romance and erotic romance aren’t that kind of gal.

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Denial. This is a very common feature appears not only by a drug addict but the family and friends of drug addicts and. Nobody wants to believe that their harm is loved by drug addiction and many people will be fooled to make things seem better than they are.

To defeat this destructive pattern I've developed a very straight to the point article that identify clearly exhibited some of the undeniable pattern of a personSuffering from drug addiction.

1. Insulation

This is probably the most typical characteristic of drug addicts. Due to the overwhelming impact of causing addiction, the addict is almost always fall into a deep isolation. They are separated from family and friends and very downdraught.

2. Irritability

Drug addicts often lose their normal personality traits. You will become very quick-tempered and irritable. This is especially true if theyare always confronted on their drug use. When this happens, it is usually very defensive and angry.

3. Unmanageable life

In almost all cases when someone suffering from drug addiction to lose control of their material life to begin. They will begin their problems OFFER standard costs and often have for any kind of loans from financial people who are close to ask.

These are the 3 most common characteristics of someone suffering from drugAddiction. If this sounds like someone you know, it's imperative that you begin to seek help for them. This is because important in almost all cases, drug addiction, the addict will not reach for help have to get things up extremely bad.

They have the potential to be the bridge between despair and hope for your loved ones. You can do a lot of resources can be found online or in your community.

Best wishes!

Do you ever come across people who are hurting but give the impression that everything is alright?

Do you ever come across people who are hurting but give the impression that everything is alright? I’m sure you have, we all have. Maybe you are one of those who give the impression that everything is alright. But the fact of the matter is everyone has some need in their life that needs to be filled, needs that need to be taken care of. We all need to look at people and try to look beyond that outward appearance to what is lying behind their eyes. We need to look and ask ourselves what we think their needs are.

It seems as if though there are more stressors today than ever before. Stress is an emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition of mind which occurs in response to adverse external influences. People react to stress in many different ways. It is not the intent of this paper to explore all aspects of stress and how to handle it. Rather my intent is to touch on a few issues and try to give you a couple of resources that may be helpful. For more information on stress, please visit the American Psychological Associations web page on stress.

With the economy in the state that it is in, people are struggling just to make ends meet. This provides a tremendous amount of stress on a person. There’s a multitude of resources available to help people manage their money better, to help them get out of debt, and to help them with their overall financial resources. Crown Financial Ministries is an excellent starting point. You can also visit Emmaus Road Christian Store for other resources.

Many people today are dabbling in sin. They are playing around with alcohol, pornography, drugs. These are addictions that yes, even Christians can be involved it. The Holy Spirit convicts us when we do this but Satan is right there telling us that it is alright because everyone else is doing it, one time will not hurt us, and who will know, no one will find out. If you are a person with such an addiction, take heart, there is help available. You many want to obtain a copy of the Life Recovery Bible. It is based on the 12 step recovery model. Where some programs tell you to get in touch with a Higher Power and let you decide what that Higher Power should be, the Life Recovery Bible will tell you that the Higher Power and the true source of healing is God himself.

Perhaps the greatest stressor of all is the death of a loved one whether it is a parent, spouse or child. A person just doesn’t know what it is like until you actually go through the loss of a loved one. Many great books and resources are available for those who are going through the grieving process.

So what do you see when you look at someone? Do you look deep, beyond the exterior into what is on the inside? You shouldn’t do this to meddle, to be nosey or to look down on someone. You should ask God to place someone in front of you and give you the grace to look inside of them with the questions, “What is their need” and “How can I help them?”

For those who are Christians and believe what is written in the Bible, Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” This is a promise of God. It is impossible for him to lie, therefore, since he said what he said then he will deliver. Many times our job is to simply let others know of Gods promises and his guarantees.

When we are around people we need to ask God to open our eyes to what their needs are and what we must do to fill those needs. God may just use you to answer another person’s prayer. We must be the “Good Samaritan” that Jesus tells about in the gospels. We must store up treasures in heaven and not be so concerned about what we have here on this earth. God may be calling you to fill a need of someone. By helping you are storing up in heaven your treasures. In Matthews gospel, the people said to Jesus, when did we see you hungry and fed you, or thirsty and gave you something to drink naked and clothed you or in prison and came to visit you? Jesus’ response was “what you’ve done to the least of these, you’ve done it to me.

Open your eyes. Have the eyes of Jesus!

You may be aware of people who have a whole cranium full of knowledge and information much of which has never produced any results other than take up space. I have a doctoral dissertation that curled up and died on the shelf 24 years ago. This document is full of stuff I know but has not brought fourth one ounce of tangible results ever. You probably know a lot of things, like how to stay in shape, lost weight, or how to get a book published, but just knowing doesn’t get the job done. This course is not about giving you more knowledge or information. This course is transformational and will give you access to all the knowledge you already have, and that my friends will turn your lives completely around. Do you find yourself making commitments only to get caught in your old habits and patterns of behavior again and again? As Albert Einstein said when observing human behavior, “The thinking that got us into this mess is not sufficient to get us out.” Here is a whole new way to think.

One morning about 4:30 AM I laid in bed listening to a familiar voice in my head. That voice had come to remind me of a little old man on crack cocaine talking trash. This was not a new experience. I had spent many early mornings suffering from the victim of this little imp’s interference. As far back as I can remember the morning time between 4:30 and 5:30 AM had been my witching hour. During that time I was savagely reprimanded by this voice. I have come to identify the voice as “it.” This relentless nagging voice would give me a travelogue of my past and remind me of the things I had done and should not have done. “It” then brought up what I didn’t do and should have. “It” always ran on auto pilot without invitation. I finally recognized that this wasn’t really me thinking. “It” was thinking for me and yet, by listening to “it” I always ended up anxious, depressed and confused. But one morning it occurred to me that “it” was a liar and I didn’t have to listen. The past is in the past and what happened is what happened. “It’s” interpretations of my past was meaningless. It was like a little Mexican Chihuahua dog with an attitude barking behind my neighbor’s fence. Recognizing and making that conscious choice to stop listening to the “it” has set me free of my past. Your freedom is NOW yours to choose.

I have been a counselor and therapist for over 35 years. In the past, the way we have done therapy is a client comes in saying, “I am a 1939 Dodge pickup. I have a broken windshield, torn upholstery and 3 bald tires. Give me an oil change, a couple of retreads and get me back out on the road.” When you learn and apply the four tools of altering your language, spoken and unspoken and thereby get rid of the “it,” I guarantee you will leave this experience with a brand new truck and the following results:

You will gain the tools to eliminate any negative attitude or behavior.

Your ability to produce results in your life will take off.

Your power to contribute to life will become amazing even to you.

Your relationships and your ability to influence others will improve dramatically.

President Obama’s—Divine Purpose Healing the Saviour Archetype: A Global Cellular Memory By Dawn New

President Obama’s—Divine Purpose

Healing the Saviour Archetype: A Global Cellular Memory

By Dawn Newton

I remember during the early years of my Awakening, after Azira popped into my life; she proclaimed, “Follow your heart, Dear One, those who listen to the mind, are insane.”

I hear the echo of her voice these days, every time someone says, “This is crazy Dawn, it’s insane. You were so certain about Obama. You told us he was going to win, and be the best thing that would happen to this planet!” It is then I remind them, what else I used to say.

I have not wavered—I feel President Obama, is doing exactly what his Soul Template is inspiring him to do. I told people over and over again, “Obama isn’t going to be our Knight in shining armour. He is coming to shine the Light on our global darkness, so that which has been hidden; can now be seen. He is going to bring all the lies, and deceit to the surface.” Therefore, I am Grateful for his Greater Service, as he is simply providing his Divine Purpose!

We have been misled into believing that we live in the land of the free and the brave. Do we? Are we living in a free land, where the Laws serve the Greater Good of the populace? Our planet is our home and all of humanity is our family. As individuals, we have not been willing to look at the Elephant in the room; our global family has become dysfunctional. Our elected (ah hem) officials are ill—deathly ill with addictions: from over active libidos, to pathological liars, and its time for an intervention!

It is time for us to help not only our ailing American children, but all our global leaders—the Global Elite; to heal them from their drugs of choice: power, money and warmongering! It’s so hard to be the responsible parent, isn’t it? But we must be willing to see, as well as to admit, that our Leaders (our precious children) have a disease—Addiction. We must be wiling to look—knowing what we might see—is that which fears us most. We must be willing to feel everything that frightens us: fear, anger, guilt, and shame, yet still reach out to those whom have become addicted to infidelity, and the drugs of power and deceit!

Granted, it’s hard to parent, as well as govern our selves differently. After receiving ‘out of the box’ instructions from Azira over the years, I would question her wisdom, “You simply want me to have blind faith.” I would complain.

“Blind faith? There is no such thing! What if your ‘Feelings” are your Eyes. We speak not of your emotions, Dawn. Human Beings can Feel which way to go, and what to do next; in their Hearts—they have simply forgotten how.”

Obama has come to say one thing, and do the other to push our buttons, in order to break-our-hearts wide open! Dan Millman teaches, “Each time we ascend to a higher rung on the ladder of evolution, we must go through a period of discomfort, of initiation—I have never found an exception.” How many times do we say to one thing, but, do nothing, or we do the exact opposite, when it comes to our world leaders—is Obama our Mirror?

With our hearts now open, we can receive greater wisdom, although it pains us. Our blessed Obama is helping us see something we have been unwilling to see: There is no two-party system—there is simply the Elite (our wayward children), and we the populace whom are unwilling to parent. We have been asleep at the wheel, allowing others to drive our world into a global initiation!

Thus, this is a good thing!

With our planet’s position nearing the Grand Alignment of 2012, and our body, mind, and spirit begins to Awaken—we can no longer push the snooze button. Our Soul Alarm Clocks are Ringing-in a new vibration. Our Awakening cannot be thwarted; as we wipe the slumber from our souls, “our Feelings will become our Eyes.”

With the election of Obama, humanity’s cellular memory of the Saviour Archetype, has been brought to the surface of our Collective Consciousness to be healed once and for all—there is no Saviour who can save us. We must be willing to save ourselves!

These past ten years we have been on a global-fast track; Awakening to the Totality of We—soon All Sentient Beings will Feel the Self-Governing Heart Beat. Elite Governmental Control is 3D, the totality of We is Thirteenth Dimensional—thus, may I submit in the words of M.C. Hammer, “Can’t touch this!”

There really is nothing for us to fear—Amen, Shanti, Namaste, Aho, Om, Aum . . .

***This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius: A vibration that opens our Hearts! Soon, we shall govern ourselves! But first, we must begin to ‘Look at the man in the mirror and parent-well.***

Lovies, Dawn
