Eso lo consiguierón Graham Daniels y Tolly que forman Adicctive TV con el remix Antonio Banderas vs Adicctive tv (take the lead) en 2006, el estudio les pagó y luego premiaron el producto, un viral para internet. Remezclas de video y audio que hacen moverse al mundo. Desde entonces su carrera no para de subir.

Como Vj han actuado en clubes por todo el mundo y en los grades museos modernos. El último gran encargo, después de Sportive para Adidas en Beijing 2008, es el remix de Slumdog Millionaire encargado directamente por Pathé (distribuidora) para la película de su compatriota Danny Boyle.

Many moons ago I wrote a feature for Little White Lies on movie trailer mash ups.  Not  your bog standard ‘check this cool shit out’ kinda thing, but there was a bit of history, interviews and everything – including the head of the AICE (US editors association), Addictive TV and Luciane Piane who remixed *that* Christian Bale rant.

Mash Up, Bootleg, Bastard-Pop … wie auch immer man diese Musikgattung nennen mag: Die illegale Vergangenheit von unerlaubt zusammen gemixten Songfragmenten scheint immer mehr Geschichte zu werden. Legendäre Untergrund Alben wie das hier obligatorisch zu erwähnende “Grey Album” von DJ Danger Mouse und kommerziell erfolgreiche Kooperationen wie “Collision Course” von Linkin Park und Jay Z (beide Alben wohlbemerkt aus dem fernen Jahr 2004), haben beide ihren Platz in der Mash Up Historie ergattert. Fernab von Rechtsstreitigkeiten bewegt sich heute eine etablierte Szene von DJs, die wirklich hörbare Vereinigungen von (alt)bekannten Songs produzieren. Anlässlich des 40. Jubiläums des Woodstock Festivals mixte DJ Zebra im Juni 2009 original Video- und Musikmaterial mit neuen Songs. Am 4. Juli 2009 wurde das Resultat im Virgin Radio Frankreich ausgestrahlt. Der – meiner Meinung nach – beste Song des Albums:

In den letzten Jahren haben sie verstärkt durch alternative virale Filmtrailer auf sich aufmerksam gemacht, die parallel zu den Nullachtfuffzehn-Trailern im Web verbreitet wurden. Durch Neukombination der Soundkulisse plus eingestreuten Beats entsteht sowas wie dieser Trailer zu Iron Man (2008):

Addictive TV es un grupo audiovisual británico que nació a principios de los 90′ con la intención de generar música y visuales mezclando las bandas sonoras y diferentes sonidos con las imágenes de películas. Poco a poco han ido generando su propio sello y han trabajado para Adidas, Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios.

In the wake of Addictive TV’s remix of Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire, created at the request of director Danny Boyle and international distributors Pathé, it’s now the turn of Hollywood studio Universal to commission their first movie remix with the new Vin Diesel action movie Fast & Furious – the fourth instalment in the series of petrol-head action movies.

London based audiovisual artists and performers Addictive TV have made their name as trail-blazers in the art of audio/video remixing – especially when it comes to movies. Meticulously sampling everything from films to concert footage, music videos to sports events, their remixes have received praise from creative innovators like Jeff Mills, Goldie, Grandmaster Flash and the former Kraftwerk frontman Karl Bartos.  The duo have remixed a number of big-budget movies for the studios including Iron Man for Paramount, Max Payne for 20^th Century Fox and both Snakes on a Plane and Shoot ‘Em Up for New Line Cinema, so they are now in the unique position of having created remixes for nearly every major Hollywood studio.

In their distinctive and unique style, Addictive TV’s Fast & Furious remix was made by sampling the sounds and images from the film to create a high-energy and intense audiovisual ‘track’. The technique used is similar to audio sampling in the music world, but Addictive TV instead use linked pictures and sound samples to construct their dynamic mixes.

Slamming the pedal-to-the-metal, and this time fighting a shared enemy, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker re-team for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed. Heading back to LA where it all began, they rejoin Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to burn rubber, illegally race each other in exotic cars down through the mean streets of Los Angeles, and floor them across the Mexican desert in this new high-octane action-thriller.

The film goes on general release April 3^rd in the US and then opens in the UK on April 10th. Co-incidently the same night Addictive TV headline London’s Cargo for Beadyman’s Battlejam night.

Addictive TV has created this remix of Danny Boyle’s hotly tipped new movie, Slumdog Millionaire, which is released in the UK on Friday. The movie tells the story of an illiterate street kid from Mumbai, who gets the opportunity to go on the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Sampling Slumdog Millionaire for its vibrant sounds and images, and reworking them into a fast-paced audiovisual remix trailer, Addictive TV were asked by the film’s distributors to give Slumdog Millionaire their unique treatment.

It makes for an interesting alternative to the average film trailer huh.

Danny Boyle’s film, which has now won 4 Golden Globes, and is nominated for 11 BAFTAs and 10 Oscars, is winning praises everywhere, and rightly so.

I really like this remixed viral trailer for the UK release of the Oscar-tipped Danny Boyle film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, using only images and sounds from the film has been produced by audiovisual artists Addictive TV, who agin i really like :0 there’s a like thing going on here….

Addictive TV was approached by French film company Pathe and filmmaker Boyle, who also directed ‘28 Days Later’ and ‘Trainspotting’, to create a mash-up video for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ after giving similar treatments to previous blockbuster film releases such as ‘Iron Man’. Pathe, who also led viral-based marketing with the release of the Michel Gondry film ‘Be Kind Rewind’ last year, approached Addictive TV to help market ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ through online video sharing sites.

Graham Daniels, Addictive TV front man, said: “It’s great Pathe are taking a lead in the independent film sector like this, and sharing our vision of film remixing.

“With our style of work, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is an amazing film to play with, it’s so cinematic and evocative in both sound and picture, it’s really colourful and vibrant, and with Danny Boyle known for his cutting edge approach to music and film, making this kind of remix for his movie seems like a natural fit.”

The film is released in the UK and Europe on Friday. It tells the story of an illiterate Mumbai teen who gets the chance to go on the Indian version of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ and has been generating Oscar buzz since winning the Best Film award from the US National Board of Review last Thursday.

My latest mixtape is a very special one. All of the bands on the homeys mixtape are beautiful souls that have come into my life and have personally blessed it. Most of these cats I met on my personal travels over the last few years. You guys inspire me beyond imagination!  I found when I was in New York that there is a huge gap from the west to the east in the music scene. I want to help promote their work. Some of the bands are from Alberta as well. I know I keep saying this but there is so much undiscovered talent here.

So incase you were wondering Yes, I had a case of the Mondays. That can happen though when you enjoy the weekends as much as I do. Also I want to take a minute to congratulate my cousin Kenny and his new wife Else Summers who got married over this weekend on a huge rock right on the Pacific down here in So Cal. I had a great time friday at the wedding, the reception and the after party, best of luck to you both.

Normaly I wouldn’t mention a wedding, but this one was amazing [quick, great location, natural, casual] and it was the first wedding I’ve been to where noone mentioned money or gas prices bc it was outside on an annexed spot on a local beach.

Ok now back to the OSH business at hand,

Usually I won’t sleep on Monday’s, I’m sorry, but the good news is that just like when we work together Rah had my back and gave you the new -ish to start your week.

So since he held me down yesterday, I’ve decided today to build off his first post, by giving you some of the best hip-hop/ animation crossovers.

This First video is sorta cheatin’ because the song was actually never released as a single, but the priceless costumes and fact that it was on the Simpsons makes this hard to find Ludacris spot one of my alltime favorites

An old friend of mine whom I met along the path is part of the VJing duo ADDICTIVE TV. Graham just sent me a email updating me on what he has been up to. I met Graham while I was living in London back in the 05 at Optronica. Optronica is a VJ / AV festival put on by Graham. During the festival Addictive TV project images across the Thames onto the wall of the National Theatre. It is a wonderful sight and should not be missed. I took a hiatus from this series to tighten it up. Then I noticed something crucial was missing – I’d never made any attempt to provide a map, any co-ordinates, for what I’m talking about.

So here it is: a short breakdown of key types of VJing, as it stands.

1. The AV Geek

Obviously most VJs are AV geeks. But when you track back to the early works by people like Coldcut and Hexstatic, you see where it all came from.

The AV geek likes to sample. Loves to sample, in fact. Because they’re hooked on video. The more directly, and literally, the video can relate to the sound – the better.

The results have a strong element of pastiche and pop-post-modern. Two of the best contemporaries in this mould are Eclectic Method and Addictive TV.

The laziest AV geeks loop samples from Fear and Loathing and the Kubrick archive with zero editing and little live manipulation. Watch you don’t fall into that trap.

2. The Mo-Graphic Designer

No less important in the history and development of VJing. On a bad day, this is the kind of performer you’d describe as a Screensaver VJ because their style is more closely aligned with computer than film.

At the one extreme, you’ll see the High Concept Electrician – tinkerers so deep in the machine they can produce sets through the visualisation of feedback/ distortion/ channels from old analogue equipment.

At the other, you’ll see beautiful, bespoke 3-D motion graphic design and a high-level of MIDI synchronisation. Dispensing with film allows a much more accurate and minimalist representation of sound. See below.

3. The Animator

I haven’t seen this too often in clubs and it tends to be less live. The first example that came to mind was Mr Scruff. As he illustrates his albums with line drawings, it makes perfect sense to animate them for performance.

If anyone’s got a better or more developed example, please share. VJing could be a rich terrain for the old-fashioned animator but it tends not to be how it’s done. Perhaps the live editing is too challenging.

4. The Director

I’ve picked out Ben Strebel here because he’s a huge talent and a good friend.

This kind of VJ is a director first and foremost – VJing provides an opportunity to test out their original material in front of a large audience. It’s like live showreeling, to an extent.

Ben does a lot more than that, and his performances involve motion graphics and animation too. But his work in music video and short film directs and characterises what he does live on a night.

5. The Light Artist

Artists like Simian Mobile Disco and many other big name headliners perform with LED shows. They strip back to light and light alone.

The very best in this field, however, work more along the lines of installation. They aren’t shackled by a single screen. Their projections are multiple and the results are breathtaking.

Massive Attack have moved into this area in the last few years, but my favourites remain The Light Surgeons for their constant boundary-pushing and absolute focus on creating 3D-lit moving habitats wrapped right around their audience.

Joia trecuta am servit concertul becksperience, cu goldfrapp ca principala atractie…lucrurile s-au desfasurat dupa cum urmeaza…line-up dezvoltat, vreo 6 nume interesante…din pacate, lucrurile s-au urnit cu vreo ora intarziere, dar ma asteptam…suie paparude au fost ok…ei au avut sarcina ingrata de a deschide show-ul intr-un moment in care sala era doar pe jumatate umpluta…avand in vedere ceea ce a urmat, prestatia lor nu mi s-a mai parut atat de ok…plus ca am avut ceva dubii de playback…ma rog,never mind…mai departe, surpriza serii…addictive tv…eu nu stiam nimic de baietii astia…credeam ca sunt pusi sa umple afisu’…dar au fost cei mai spectaculosi dintre toti artistii care s-au perindat pe scena in seara aia…au facut super-show si au aprins publicul la maxim…succesul lor se datoreaza unei muzici bine mixate care are in background proiectate diferite imagini , potrivirea intre muzica si imagine fiind perfecta…si pe langa aceste derulari de imagine si producerea lor pe scena a fost spectaculoasa…asa cu addictive tv, pe care ii voi urmari atent de acum…trecem la goldfrapp…eu am aflat de trupa asta absolut intamplator, gasind niste albume pe un hard disk mai vechi al unui coleg…si mi-au placut rau…cand am auzit de concert, nici n-am stat pe ganduri…si am avut dreptate…trupa mare…toti imbracati in pijamale…sau ceva de genu’…o solista cu o voce fabuloasa, care s-a produs in picioarele goale pe scena…prima jumatate a recitalului a fost mai soft, scotand la iveala doar vocea solistei si,spre dezamagirea publicului, nimic din hiturile cunoscute…a doua jumatate a fost mai pe gustul meu, cu ceva piese pe care le stiam si cu ceva mai multa animatie pe scena…acestea fiind spuse, a patra formatie din program (stereo mc’s) a inceput cantarea dupa ora 1 si mi-a pus capac, convingandu-ma sa renunt la vive la fete (pe care nici acum nu ii stiu si in legatura cu care eram curios)…deci atat despre concert…unul reusit,de altfel…mai jos, bucurati-va de addictive tv…e plin youtube-ul de mix-uri de-ale lor…

GOLDFRAPP este un grup britanic de electro-dance care a luat nastere in Londra, 1999, avandu-i in componenta pe Alison Goldfrapp (voce/sintetizator) si Will Gregory (sintetizator). Cei doi sunt renumiti nu doar pentru muzica lor, ci si pentru spectacolul de lumini si videoproiectie pe care il ofera publicului in timpul aparitiilor live. Primul album Goldfrapp, “Felt Mountain”, lansat in anul 2000, a intrat pe lista nominalizarilor pentru Mercury Prize, iar cel de-al doilea material de studio, “Black Cherry”, a oferit un nou vibe muzicii electronice, printr-un melanj reusit de glam-rock si synthpop. Albumul s-a bucurat de un real succes in cluburile de noapte din America de Nord, succes confirmat in 2003 cu cel de-al treilea album, “Supernature”. Acesta le-a adus britanicilor faima pe plan international, trei single-uri No. 1 si o nominalizare pentru „Best electronic/dance album” la premiile Grammy! “Seventh Tree”, cel mai recent material a fost lansat pe piata anul acesta, intrand direct pe locul 2 in topurile din UK!

Grupul londonez STEREO MCs este cel mai nou nume confirmat pe afisul BECK’SPERIENCE, alaturi de GOLDFRAPP, VIVE LA FETE, KRAAK & SMAAK, ADDICTIVE TV si SUIE PAPARUDE. Produs de Emag!c Entertainment, festivalul BECK’SPERIENCE va avea loc pe data de 5 iunie, la Sala Polivalenta. Infiintat de Rob Birch (voce) si Nick Hallam (DJ/producator), grupul STEREO MCs inregistreaza albumul de debut – “33-45-78” – in anul 1989, alaturi de DJ Cesare, Owen If (baterie) si Cath Coffey (backing vocals). Un an mai tarziu, lanseaza “Supernanural”, iar “Elevate My Mind” devine primul single britanic hip-hop care intra in topurile R&B din S.U.A. In 1992, albumul “Connected” ajunge pe locul 2 in topurile britanice si le aduce doua premii in cadrul BRIT Awards: “Cel mai bun grup”, respectiv “Cel mai bun album”. Urmeaza “DJ-Kicks: Stereo MCs” (2000), “Deep Down And Dirty” (2001), “Retroactive” (2003) si “Paradise” (2005), precum si o serie de remixuri pentru artisti ca U2, Madonna sau Queen Latifah. De-a lungul carierei, STEREO MCs a participat la majoritatea festivalurilor importante din Europa (Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Roskilde, Werchter, Benicassim, Lowlands, Sziget, etc.), iar in 1993 grupul a fost invitat de U2 ca opening act in turneul Zoo TV, alaturi de PJ Harvey si Velvet Underground. Cel mai recent material STEREO MCs, “Live at the BBC”, a fost lansat chiar anul acesta.

VIVE LA FETE este un grup belgian electropop, format in anul 1997 de catre cuplul Danny Momments (chiarist si vocal) si Els Pynoo (vocal). Totul a inceput cand Momments, care la vremea aceea inca mai canta in trupa alaturi de care s-a lansat – dEUS, a inregistrat impreuna cu Pynoo cateva demo-uri. Acestea au fost incluse pe EP-ul “Je ne veux pas”, atragand atentia publicului in special datorita elementelor inedite preluate din muzica anilor ’80. Succesul Vive La Fete a venit odata cu primul album, “Attaque Surprise” (2000), urmatoarele materiale – “Republique Populaire” (2001) si “Nuit Blanche” (2003) – asigurandu-le popularitatea chiar si in lumea modei, celebrul designer Karl Lagerfeld fiind unul dintre fanii declarati ai trupei! In anul 2005 a fost lansat albumul “Grand Prix”, urmat de concerte in toata Europa, precum si spectacole in Brazilia si Mexic.

Avandu-i in componenta pe Oscar De Jong, Mark Kneppers si Wim Plug, KRAAK & SMAAK a pornit initial ca un proiect de studio in anul 2003, urmand sa devina in scurt timp una dintre cele mai cunoscute trupe live de pe scena dance. Varianta live a formatiei e completata de Ro Kram (baterie si voce), Rose (voce) si Marc Baronner (chitara bass). Dupa lansarea albumului de debut “Boogie Angst”, KRAAK & SMAAK a sustinut peste 200 de show-uri live in toata lumea: a cantat ca opening act pentru Faithless in turneul lor european, a fost prezenta la cele mai cunoscute festivaluri din Statele Unite ale Americii, precum Coachella Festival, SXSW Festival, Miami Winter Music Conference, si a dominat atat Coasta de Est, cat si Coasta de Vest cu spectacole in cadrul carora a aparut ca si cap de afis. De-a lungul timpului, KRAAK & SMAAK a realizat remix-uri pentru mai multi artisti precum Jamiroquai, Richard Dorfmeister, 4Hero, Bitter:Sweet, Mark Rae si Soul of Man, iar anul acesta trupa olandeza a lansat un nou material, “PLASTIC PEOPLE”, album pe care il vor promova si in cadrul festivalului BECK’SPERIENCE.

ADDICTIVE TV pune in scena show-uri electrizante, un mixaj de elemente audio-video, reusind performanta de a aduce acest nou curent in zona mainstream a entertainment-ului international. Grupul a fost infiintat in anul 1992, iar in prezent ocupa primul loc in clasamentul destinat VJ-ilor alcatuit de revista DJ Magazine! Graham Daniels si Tolly, cei doi membri AddictiveTV, au contribuit de asemenea la testarea si dezvoltarea unei noi generatii de turntables (pick-up-uri), capabile sa redea simultan imagini si sunete. Addictive TV a lansat de-a lungul timpului doua DVD-uri editate de propriul label, „Audiovisualize” si „Mixmasters”, cei trei lucrand in acelasi timp si ca producatori pentru diverse show-uri TV. Ca VJ, membrii grupului au lucrat impreuna cu Miss Kittin, Goldie, Fatboy Slim si multe altie nume cunoscute in domeniu. Pana in prezent, grupul londonez a sustinut spectacole in toata lumea, in locatii dintre cele mai variate, cum ar fi Centrul Pompidou din Paris, Teatrul Regal din Londra, Festivalul de Film de la San Francisco, The Edinburgh Festival, International Microwave Media Festival in Hong Kong, Sonar sau Glastonbury, in 2006 fiind prezenti si la Bucuresti, in cadrul festivalului Avmotional.

Considerata a fi cea mai buna trupa de muzica electronica din Romania, SUIE PAPARUDE este formata in prezent din Mihai Campineanu “Michi”, Mihai Dobre “Hauteculture” si Cezar Stanciulescu “Junkyard”. Grupul s-a format initial in anul 1993, avand o componenta dar si un stil total diferite fata de cele de acum, Junkyard fiind cooptat abia in anul 2002, dupa colaborari cu diferiti artisti autohtoni, precum DJ Vasile si DJ Niky4.

De-a lungul carierei, SUIE au fost prezenti in cluburi si festivaluri din toata tara, au deschis mega-concertul DEPECHE MODE in fata a peste 40.000 de oameni impreuna cu trupa Sistem, au lansat 5 albume (“Salveaza-te” 1997, “Urban” 2000, “Atac la persoane” 2003, “Scandalos“ 2004 si “A fost odata” 2008), precum si numeroase hituri – “Iarba verde de acasa”, “Ajutor”, “Mutatia”, “Invataturi”, “Atac la persoane”.

The unlikely worlds of sports and arts collide as Addictive TV and Adidas join the same team on the Sportive exhibition which will tour China from this week, in the lead up to the Shanghai Olympics. Opening at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Arts, Addictive TV’s AV installation was created using only the sounds and images from sports and a human heartbeat and celebrates Adidas’s sponsorship of the Games. It’s been a good week for Addictive TV who came 2^nd in DJ Magazine’s annual poll, making it 4 years at the top 1 and 2 spots.
