After 60 years of estranged relationship, Puma and Adidas, two German sportswear companies founded by brothers Rudolf and Adi Dassler have decided to let bygones be bygones and shake hands in support of the One Day Peace celebration on September 21.

This will be the first time the two competing companies will celebrate the annual non-violence day in harmonious relationship since the brothers split in 1948 and established their own firms on separate sides of a river in southern Germany

Puma and Adidas were said to be the only major employers then in the cobblestoned Bavarian town of Herzogenaurach and the residents found themselves with their loyalty divided also between Rudolf and Adi.

Neither company is now controlled and managed by offsprings of the original Dassler brothers.

Owners of luxury Gucci products now own majority shares of Puma while Aidas is more of a public enterprise.

Acho interessante quando alguém começa a fazer listas, e assim, vou fazendo as minhas… Hoje colocarei ordem alfabética, os meus 07 ídolos, que de alguma forma ou outra fez com que eu parasse um tempo para refletir, e até mesmo mudar certos conceitos nessa minha caminhada pela vida. Então, vamos lá…

Mr. Adi Dassler: criador de uma marca simples de três listras, mundialmente conhecida e baseada em seu sonho de contribuir para um mundo melhor!

Mr. Albert Einstein: um gênio indomável. Simples no seu modo de vida, pensador em suas teorias…

Mr. Ayrton Senna: outro gênio… Fez o que ninguém até hoje foi capaz na Formula 1. Venceu corridas no braço, algo que Schumacker não sabe, afinal, tempos diferentes. O Ayrton fez com que acordássemos no Domingo com a esperança de um dia melhor após suas corridas e consequentes vitórias.

Mr. Herbert de Souza: o Betinho mudou muitos conceitos nessa minha vida. A sua ação social contra a fome é apenas um dos diversos programas que ele tinha em mente. O mundo todo deveria conhecer quem foi esse homem.

 S.S. Dalai Lama: sim, Tenzin Gyatso é para mim um ser pensante que representa muito bem o que é ter Paz, agir com Paz, e lutar por um ideal. A Liberdade do Povo do Tibet ainda é um sonho, mas que um dia se tornará realidade. Assim, Dalai Lama retornará a sua terra. Seus ensinamentos têm muito o que ser espalhado pelo mundo.

Sir. John Lennon: um mito da música. Teve seu caminho abreviado por um fã. Outro ativista, queria a Paz Mundial, seguia junto a Yoko os seus ideais. Deixou em suas músicas um acervo que continuará por toda a eternidade.

  Sr. Arthur Antunes Coimbra: O Zico é um ícone para o futebol brasileiro. Um exemplo de atitude dentro e fora de campo. Sou flamenguista por causa desse gênio. Assim como Senna, o Zico fazia nossos Domingos os dias mais felizes de nossas vidas. E claro, era certeza de que a semana seria farta de muita gozação contra os adversários!!!

Ah, antes que me perguntem, escolhi 07 porque gostei desse número, assim como, poderia ter colocado 10, 5, 15, enfim, escolhi mesmo o 07. E é claro, a lista é mais longa e faltam muitos outros que eu colocaria aqui, nomes como: Che Guevara, Júnior (Maestro do Fla), Roger Waters, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Garrincha e etcétera…

My morning run got me thinking about sidewalks, particularly Baltimore sidewalks. They’re a bit uneven. The elaborate root systems of those beaitiful old trees that line the streets north of the city have done a number on the concrete slabs. Actually, it’s a bit like running on an endless row of crooked teeth, crooked teeth with trashcans and puppy presents every 20 yards. Sprained ankles await you at every turn. I’d love to run down the middle of the street, but traffic’s no joke here. My skull takes precedence over my ankles. I’ll stick to the jacked-up sidewalks, thanks.

So, I’ve come to look at my runs as an obstacle course of sorts, one that requires mental and physical agility; well-made comfortable shoes have become critical. And so the shoe discussion begins. Pretty nice segue, huh?

By the time the 50s rolled around, Hollywood was cashing in on rebellion. James Dean (or someone in charge of his wardrobe) popularized the Chuck Taylor by Converse. Sneakers were now mainstream accoutrement for Western youth.

Asics introduced the Onitsuka Tiger in 1960, and Saucony running shoes found their way into sporting goods stores around 1968.

So, here we are, 2009. Running shoes are everywhere. They’re no longer just for runners. They’re the intuitive choice when comfort is of great concern.

I can’t tell you how many pairs I’ve owned, but I’ll do my best to break down the highlights and low points of all things running shoe over the next few days.

Keyshia Cole’s “This Is Us” & Sugarland’s “Already Gone” - weird thing is both songs remind me of other songs. The strumming at the in “This Is Us” really reminds me of Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and I swear Sugarland ripped the tune from Vanessa Carlton’s “Heroes and Thieves.“

Adi Dassler has his own flickr profile as Ben from NoisyDecentGraphics found out when Adi added one of his adidas themed shots as one of his favorites. Ben’s guessing it may be someone in MKT at the three stripes or just a sneaker aficionado. Due to the icon/avatar and the wording… methinks it’s these guys…who made this.

no vídeo mostra como ele começo fazendo tudo manualmente e o filme tudo em stop motion! não podemos esquecer que as campanhas mundiais da Adidas é criada pela 180Amsterdam, lá nos site da agência tem os seus trabalhos, clientes e muita coisa legal, ouvi dizer que o dono da 180 atendia a adidas em outra agência, dai saiu e montou a 180 só para atender a Adidas e conseguência pego outra contas! mas voltando a Adidas heheheheh aquele novo comercial que tá agora no ar, onde aparece uma molecada treinando e jogando com os profissionais, a molecada é de paises onde o futebol não tem muita tradição, é um projeto que chama THE DREAM, pq? pq? pq? IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!

The video tells the story of Adi Dassler, the company’s founder, and also its namesake. Who knew? I always thought Adidas was an acronym for All Day I Dream About Soccer or Sports or various other words beginning with an “S”. Tracking Adidas throughout history the movie highlights sports milestones from the past as well as innovations the company has made and it’s impact on culture.

Unfortunately there isn’t much information regarding the production of the video or anyone involved in its creation online, other than the agency. I will be tossing in my own thoughts on this campaign as well as others for Lakai and GAP soon. In the meantime here is a little more info about Adidas and the videos:
