According to Us, Krupa said, “Somebody needs to put their foot down and stop this breeding and these puppy mills. … they’re in these little tiny cages, and all they’re doing is breeding their whole life. It makes me so angry that our government doesn’t do anything about it. So I am!”

And how does she decide to make her political statement ? Well by taking her top off, grabbing a rosary, and strapping on a pair of angel wings, obviously.

This is another tired means of promotion. PETA, why would stoop to this level?

If for some reason you can’t think of where you’ve seen the slutty good girl imagery before, let me give you some examples.

Victoria Secret has basically formed it’s image around the ideal of a sexy girl who is also a wholesome angel. Here is AdrianaLima wearing her wings.

Lima also told GQ that she was a virgin, and this was the cover.

Then there is the case of Britney Spears. The girl who claimed to be a virgin, but sang songs like “Hit me Baby One More Time” and “Opps I’m Not that Innocent.” Here is Britney at 17 posing for Rolling Stone.

Lastly there is the Beyonce. Beyonce is a genius when it comes to branding. She has a sweet and approachable personality that makes her perfect for advertisers, and when she wants to be sexy she claims to be a different person. In 2003 Beyonce revealed on her MTV Diary that when she goes on stage she usually becomes Sasha Fierce. Therefore, she can be a sexpot despite being a good Christian.

She starts talking about Sasha at minute 5:40.

Beyonce was on Larry King Live this year discussing the difference between Beyonce and Sasha Fierce.

I like how Beyonce claims that when she is strong she is Sasha Fierce. Therefore when you are sexy you are stronger.

And the point is that in real life Beyonce isn’t sexy or strong, she’s just a weak and wholesome girl that everyone can relate to. Therefore advertisers get the best of both worlds with Beyonce, and that’s why she is used to sell you L’Oreal,  Pepsi, American Express, Nintendo DSi, Samsung Phones, Tommy Hilfiger True Star Perfume, Hamburger Helper, Direct TV, Water, the horror that is WalMart, and – my favorite Sasha commercial - Armani’s Diamonds Perfume.

Tras unos días sin mirar el lado más atípico de la NBA, vamos con una ración de noticias divertidas, curiosas o simplemente extravagantes. La obsesion de Shaquille O’Neal por ser representante de la ley, la capacidad de Pau Gasol para anunciar cualquier cosa o la peligrosa capacidad de provocación de Nate Robinson son sólo algunos de los temas que trataremos después de hacer clic a continuación…

Krypto-Nate, el hombre sin cerebro: No está siendo una buena temporada para los New York Knicks. Están en 3-10 y ocupan el penúltimo puesto de la Conferencia Este, únicamente superados por los hasta ahora lamentables New Jersey Nets. Por lo tanto, Mike D’Antoni no está para muchas bromas… ni siquiera cuando su equipo gana. Y por eso no le hizo ninguna gracia la última frivolidad de Nate Robinson, quien en el último segundo del primer cuarto del partido del sábado entre Knicks y Nets (precisamente) hizo lo siguiente:

Así es, amigos. Con 0,5 segundos por jugarse en el primer cuarto, al amigo Krypto-Nate no se le ocurrió otra cosa que cascarse un triple… contra su propio aro. Y meterlo. Os dejo unos segundos para que asimiléis las proporciones de una estupidez así… y una vez asimiladas, digamos todos a una: “¿PERO QUÉ DEMONIOS ESTABA PENSANDO ROBINSON?”. Aunque el tiempo se haya agotado… ¿Qué necesidad hay de tirar sobre tu propio aro? ¿Qué necesidad hay de hacerlo de tres? ¿Qué necesidad hay de meterla? El “oficial Shaq”: Como todos sabéis, Shaquille O’Neal lleva desarrollando durante estos últimos años una actividad paralela a la de jugador de baloncesto: la de defensor de la ley. El Gran Aristóteles ya ocupó algún cargo de este tipo mientras vivió en Florida, Virginia y Arizona, y ahora pretende hacer lo mismo en Ohio. Sin embargo, no lo va a tener nada fácil: tras presentar su solicitud para convertirse en ayudante especial en el condado de Buckeye, Shaq tendrá que examinarse y pasar unas pruebas físicas. Concretamente, y citando las palabras de la portavoz del distrito general del estado, Holly Hollingsworth (gran nombre, por cierto):

“Parece que el señor O’Neal tendrá que someterse a un entrenamiento adicional bastante importante, y también deberá completar el examen de certificación del estado para convertirse en un agente de la ley en el estado de Ohio”.

Sin someterese a ese entrenamiento y ese examen, Shaq no podría llevar un arma (por lo cual doy gracias), ni tampoco realizar ningún arresto. Sí que podría realizar ambas cosas en caso de superar el entrenamiento y el examen, aunque en ningún caso recibiría una paga por ello (ni que le hiciera falta…). El “entrenamiento adicional” de Shaq consistiría, según parece, en 30 horas de adiestramiento policial, realizadas en un periodo inferior a los seis meses, tras lo cual debería pasar el examen policial de Ohio y también una prueba de tiro. Este hombre es incansable… ¿seguro que está lesionado de verdad y no entrenándose para policía a espaldas de los Cavs?

Gasol el cantarín: Como sabéis, por algún motivo sobrenatural que desconozco, Pau Gasol está apareciendo en varios spots televisivos que anuncian Singstar Mecano, la nueva entrega de la insigne saga de videojuegos de cantar de Sony-PlayStation. Cuando ya creía que no habría nada más raro que verle anunciando relojes junto a Rafa Nadal o promocionando coches de dudosa calidad, esto supera todo lo visto hasta ahora. A continuación tenéis “Cruz de navajas” y “En tu fiesta me colé” como nunca jamás deberían ser cantadas… (Y sí, ya sé que la noticia tiene algunos días… pero no he podido resistirme):

Como dicen en los comentarios de uno de los vídeos… ¿por qué nunca vemos a Marc haciendo estas cosas? ¿Se quedó él con todo el sentido del ridículo al nacer?

Nació Valentina Lima Jaric: Pues eso, que una de las parejitas favoritas de este blog, la que forman el inigualable Marko Jaric y la deslumbrante Adriana Lima, por fin han tenido a su hijita. Me alegro por ellos, y espero que la niña herede la belleza de su madre y no el talento baloncestístico de su padre, porque últimamente no le va muy bien. Ahora mismo sigue sin equipo, aunque imagino que con Adriana y Valentina en casa, el baloncesto debe de estar entre sus últimas preocupaciones…

O.J. el generoso: Y por último, la noticia altruista del día, y es que parece que O.J. Mayo sólo es un avaricioso cuando tiene un balón en sus manos. Según el Memphis Commercial Appeal, parece que el escolta de los Grizzlies quiere aprovechar estas fechas tan especiales (esta semana es Acción de Gracias en Estados Unidos) para preocuparse por los menos favorecidos, y ha donado 500 pavos y 500 jamones (cocidos, no ibéricos) a 1000 familias de Huntington, en West Virginia, el pueblo en el que creció el jugador. Al parecer no es la primera iniciativa de este tipo que realiza el bueno de Mayo. Ahora sólo hace falta que suba un poco más sus promedios de asistencias, que apenas llegan a 3 por partido…

Aceptemoslo, si eres hombre marcas en el calendario cada año el dia en que las guapisimas modelos de Victoria’s Secret hacen su desfile para la nueva colecciòn de la ropa interior mas famosa del mundo, y si eres mujer de igual manera marcas en tu calendario este dia, en donde puedes notar todas las estrias o celulitis de cada una estas chicas y sentirte mejor con tu persona.

Sea cual sea tu razón para ver este desfile, estaremos de acuerdo que siempre es fantástico, y este año no fue diferente. La modelos mejor pagadas del mundo como Miranda Kerr, Alesandra Ambrosio, Selita Ebanks, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Heidi Klum, Nohemie Lenoir, Sarah Stephens, Marisa Miller, Behati Prinsloo e Izabel Goulart, se pasean en diminutos y ridículos atuendos, para demostrar porque se les llama “Los Angeles de Victoria’s Secret”.

A mi lo que me llama la atención es Heidi Klum, que siendo una de mis modelos favoritas, después de un mes de dar a luz, y luego de 4 hijos, pueda estar tan impresionante y bella como lo demostró en este desfile.

Simplemente….. WOW

Ontem aconteceu um dos maiores e mais aguardados desfile do mundo da moda, o Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. O desfile é literalmente um show de fantasias, lingeries, corpos esculturais e músicas pop que embalam as passadas das modelos na passarela. Infelizmente ele só irá ao ar no dia 01 de dezembro, mas já conseguimos ter uma palinha do que vem pela frente.

Os temas deste ano foram: Star Trooper (Tropas Estelares), All Aboard (Todos a Bordo), Pink Planet (Planeta Rosa), Enchanted Forest (Floresta Encantada), e Romantic Journey (Jornada Romântica).
A estilista Charlotte Stockdale explica a idéia geral do desfile: “Nós trouxemos a idéia de uma garota que viaja pelo espaço e aterrisa em Paris. Ela pega um trem que a leva até Pinkland, onde está cheio de coisas de garotas rosas. Então ela entra em uma floresta de contos de fada e pequenas joaninhas e borboletas voam até ela, e cipós começam a crescer em suas roupas.  Depois chega a hora do ‘Tic-Tac’, as asas nessa sessão são baseadas em relógios – tem uma que é baseada em um relógio de bolso com penas metálicas. E finalmente ela termina sua jornada num reino encantado de princesinha, onde suas asas são de Swarovski e penas de pavão.” Charlotte, você fumou algum crack ou ingeriu LSD? huaha

Não assisti o desfile completo ainda, portanto não posso afirmar com muita convicção, mas pelo jeito a crise  o afetou totalmente, e me arrisco em dizer que foi um dos mais pobres de toda a história da marca. Bem na real, depois que a Tyra Banks se aposentou, as apresentações começaram a decair cada vez mais. Agora sem a Gisele Bündchen + Adriana Lima (por conta da gravidez das duas), parece que o desfile perdou toda a graça e majestosidade.
Apesar da Marisa Miller + Alessandra Ambrósio + Heidi Klum continuarem em seus cargos de angels, as roupas não seguraram todo esse brilho que o desfile costumava ter. Além de que a passarela em V foi um desastre, acho que as outras modelos recém-contratadas não deram conta do recado de mostrar a sensualidade de uma angel da Victoria’s Secret. Achei tudo meio “concurso de beleza“, elas só queriam ser bonitinhas e não provocar a fantasia das pessoas com sensualidade e corpos ‘curvilíneos’, como costumava ser antes. Salvo algumas peças de roupas, o restante foi um absurdo do ridículo. E até mesmo as famosas asas das angels foram “cortadas” de certa forma.

Last night was The Victoria Secret Fashion Show. A yearly event where all the best Supermodels come together and wear crazy lingerie and then walk down a runway for everyone to see. I think this day should be a holiday across the world. In any event you could imagine how many photos are taken during the show and you can also imagine how hard it would be to just take a select few and show you. German supermodel Heidi Klum made a surprise appearance on the runway at yesterday’s annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Heidi wowed the audience as she took the catwalk just six weeks after giving birth to her fourth child, Lou Sulola Samuel.

It was a fantastic show last night on Times Square: Tons of energy, major fashion, great music, amazing Angels!

Supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Selita Ebanks, Marisa Miller and a bevy of other beauties were back in New York City for the sexiest show on earth.

The show themes fell into 4 categories: Enchanted Forest, Star Trooper, Romantic Journey and Pink Planet.

The highlight of the show was the $3 million worth ‘Fantasy Bra’, modelled by Victoria’s Secret Angel Marisa Miller. The ‘Fantasy Bra’ is studded with 2,350 white, champagne and cognac diamonds placed in a harlequin pattern, with a rare 16-carat heart-shaped champagne diamond in the center.

The 2009 ‘Fantasy Bra’ is $2 million cheaper than last year’s modelled by Adriana Lima who was absent from this year’s fashion show as well as Karolina Kurkova who are both taking maternity breaks.

Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima and her husband, NBA star Marko Jaric, welcomed a daughter on Sunday.

“Adriana and Marko are thrilled to announce they had a baby girl, Valentina Lima Jaric, in New York City,”
a rep for Lima confirms. “Mother, father and baby are all doing well.”

Lima and the Memphis Grizzlies star first met in 2006 and became engaged two years later on the model’s 27th birthday.
The couple eloped on Valentine’s Day earlier this year and wed in a small ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The 28-year-old model learned she was expecting soon after her honeymoon.

The couple reportedly waited to find out the sex of the baby, leaving Lima to decorate the nursery in an all-white color scheme.

“Even in my wildest days I knew that I wanted to be the ultimate family man,” Jaric, 31, said at the time.
“We’re ready to settle down.”

I just realized that I have a type (and I am not talking about men). Though I am very much straight, I love beauty and I think women are the ones who portray it best.

When it comes to body shape, I find the most beautiful bodies to be the curvy ones; think Sofia Vergara, Salma Hayek, etc. But I just noticed that I am a sucker for faces rather than bodies. I say this, because when my best friend told me to make my Top 5 most beautiful women, I chose knock out faces with rather ok bodies. Their bodies are nothing to die for in my eyes. Well, here’s my list (in no particular order):

Apparently  I like the same woman: Brunette with light eyes and strong bone structure. Who knew! ^^

These women might look alike to one another (not all of them) at times or to some of you. But in the end, they don’t have the exact same proportions, facial shape, etc.  Bottom line, they are gorgeous. Who are your Top 5?

Perdonen mis mínimos lectores mis incursiones en la prensa rosa, pero es que el ramalazo cotilla no me lo quitan ni con aguarrás. La moza se lo merece. Resulta que la impresionante Adriana Lima ha tenido un vástago con el odioso Marko Jaric. La niña vio el mundo por primera vez desde Nueva York este lunes y se llama Valentina Lima Jaric. Tanto el bebé como la madre están bien, aunque esta segunda afirmación es redundante, porque ya la sabíamos desde hace tiempo y solo hay que echarle un ojo al catálogo de Victoria’s Secret para confirmarlo (por no conjugar verbos peores). La parejita se conoció hace dos años y se casaron el Día de San Valentín. La brasileña y el serbio, que ¿juega? (al menos tiene contrato para que luego digan que no existen los milagros) en los Memphis Grizzlies, ese equipo tan divertido, pintaron la habitación de su primogénita de blanco antes de saber el sexo de la criatura. Esperemos que Valentina haya heredado más cosas de la madre que del padre. Sería una prueba irrefutable de que Dios existe o, por lo menos, de que tiene buen gusto.

But it’ll be taped this Thursday. So who can we expect to shimmy and shake down the runway? Heidi’s hosting this year, and since Adriana Lima also just had her baby, she’ll probably watch from home. But regulars like Miranda Kerr, Doutzen, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Marissa Miller should be walking. Stam, Chanel and possibly Lily will join in to give the show a high fashion boost, which makes it worth watching.

On a side note.  I am still kicking myself for missing an opportunity to photograph Miranda Kerr years ago.  I wanted to.  I always thought she would be big and adored her look.  I just didn’t have the right project when I had the chance.  Then the opportunity passed.  What a shame.

Lima and Jaric eloped in Wyoming on February 14, 2009, and Lima found out she was expecting shortly after their honeymoon (hence the name Valentina perhaps???)
