Product Description

Complete your Wizard of Oz group with this storybook lion costume for adults! The fun costume includes a tan shirt and matching pants made from polyester but have the appearance of fleece. The shirt has long sleeves and buttons at the back of the neck while the pants feature an elastic waistband for a secure fit. Elastic also lines the cuffs of the ankles and a tail with faux fur is attached on the back. A brown faux fur cape also ties around the shoulders for an authentic look. The faux fur headpiece velcros under the chin and has attached lion ears. A large opening for the face provides unrestricted vision and breathing. The costume is complete with a pair of tan mitts that are lined with elastic around the wrist. Also available in a plus size!

My short illustrated story for adults, Douglas has a Dilemma, has evolved since it was first conceived of as an entry into the 2009  McKinney Avenue Contemporary’s (the MAC) annual membership show. I’ll write more about that later but for now I just want to introduce a bit more of Douglas’s story. It’s been on the back burner – and sometimes the front burner, but on simmer – for quite a while. But isn’t that the way it often is with complicated love stories? You can read the first part of his story here and the first part of the second part (! I know!) here. 

A little love bird who makes an appearance or two in Douglas has a Dilemma and Douglas has a Dream (see links on the right side of the page). Douglas has a Dream has had a very long gestation period but illustrations are now well under way. I’m posting them as I go instead of waiting till they are all finished, with the thought that it might light a fire under my ample derriere.

As I wrote parts 2 and 3 of the Douglas & Annie trilogy, it became clear to me that two pages in part 1, “Douglas has a Dilemma”, needed to be changed. I liked the words and images, but they did not really tell anything about Annie that wasn’t already obvious.  Click here to read the story with new images.
